Kick-Ass 2 Three years have passed since the release of the first Kick-ass, according to the plot within the franchise (it is possible that it is still not a dilogy, because there is another third volume of the comic), about four years have passed. Mindy grew up from 11 to 15 years old, and Dave ... for some reason still goes to school with his friends, jerks. Both Dave and Mindy still dress up as superheroes and bring order to the city, inspiring people to be superheroes.
The change of director is not particularly felt, and according to the actors Matthew Vaughn, who remained a producer, oversaw all the shooting on the set and was actually a co-director of the sequel. And the official director Jeff Wadlow, who now has to write and put “X-Force”, another branch in the history of the franchise “X-Men”, with the second “Kick-ass” coped brilliantly, and a couple with Vaughn they managed to surpass the first part.
Despite the fact that the second volume of the comics was disgusting, it was somehow brilliantly adapted for the film. And the point is not even that in parallel the plot included an amazing spin-off about Heath Girl (Killer), thanks to which the concept of the second film became a fascinating “zebra” of alternations of personal stories of Dave and Mindy, but also directly in changing the comic plot, introducing new heroes, redesigning costumes and removing some of the most nightmarish scenes. However, with such a splash, we lost a solo film about Heath Girl.
However, the “mainstreamization” of the comic for a wider audience of the film played a cruel joke in some places, since the scene of the rescue of Asian women lost its nudity, the character of Katie Lindsey Fonseca appears only in cameo, and the death of one of the leading characters lost all its drama and horror, being behind the scenes. However, the level of violence remained the same, and for the nudity scene was invented a new pool with two topless girls.
The visual style of “Kick-Ass” remained unchanged: the voiceover of the main character, comic inscriptions-rectangles (now also in foreign dialogues), the film adheres to a realistic interpretation (even on jetpacks they no longer fly), Chloe Moretz has grown up, but has become even more cool and sexy, and comic violence is still spectacular and picky! References to comics and their characters have not gone away either, from dialogues to posters and hints with allegories. However, in the first part about “Kryptonite” and “Robin” was more epic. The humor is great again, the jokes are really memorable, but many will be killed by dubbing.
Rememberable bright scenes at least add up. Crushing cops with lawn mowers Rus-Mother performed by Olga Kurkulina (under the punk version of “Sorrows”), disassembling Heath-Gurl with gopniks and riding a purple motorcycle (hit bike?), storming the den of Asian slave traders, the final epic fight, again Khloechka but without a suit on the roof of a wheelbarrow and much more. The action turned out to be roof-bearing and diverse, to cheerful melodies.
The villain, the former Red Mist, the current Mazafaker, updated his wardrobe and hired a number of thugs in the gang “Super mega cunts”: fat Tony became an obese villain named Tumor, there were “stereotypical-archetypal” Asian Genghis-Massacre (Genghis-Karnage), the Russian cannibalist Rus-Mother and the politically incorrect black Death. Well, the main character joins the squad "Justice Forever", where there is Colonel Star-Striped, played by the unrecognisable Jim Carrie, and his shepherd, Doctor Gravity, Night Bitch, the family couple Remember Tommy, gay Insect Man and Battle Guy played by one of Dave's friends (and the last of the three will also wear a suit, but go to the villains). The film also features a brilliant cameo by Ian Glenn (Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones).
There is much to be said about the members of both groups in the film. Add material and stories, but the sequel is swift and energetic, not particularly dwelling on secondary characters and this time not going into flashbacks, which is in principle in vain (promised after 1 film Vaughn 20 minutes Cage and Moretz and sank into oblivion, campaign). Even the lull before the massacre, which was in the trailers for the film, remained almost continuous drive uncompromising and deadly.
The question of "to be or not to be" now falls on Mindy Macready's shoulders. Chloe Moretz gives an amazing performance, trying to become an “ordinary girl” at school at the insistence of a custodian cop – a friend of her father, but thanks to her talents, her popularity goes off the charts and brings out local glamorous bitches, whose rating plummets due to the popularity of Mindy, war begins between the girls. Such an additional plot perfectly integrates into the film, becoming the second main one, and the plot gracefully jumps from the hero to the heroine. The installation of such alternation was also very successful, and even when it seems that some scene was interrupted in time, after some time it will be perfectly continued.
In the end, Vaughn and Wadlow still do the incredible: gather a bunch of dressed superheroes and supervillains for the final epic battle. True bitch-fight duel Rus-Mother and Heath-Girl was still more spectacular than the main battle of the two armies (where promised cameo Millar and Romita Jr.). A series of cool visuals and saying, "You failed..." In Russian, Chloe Moretz makes this episode the most amazing in the entire film!
The second part came out more deadly than the first, and although inferior in some details, surpasses in many other ways. They complement each other perfectly (like Red and Red 2 – in the same style, but with differences between themselves), looking balanced and integral dilogy, with the expected continuation-triquel. In general, “Kick-ass 2” is an improved version of the first film: more heroes, more action, more Khloechka Moretz on timekeeping, now the R rating is supported not only by chic scenes of violence, but also by eroticism, and according to the tradition of comic books – this time in the film there is a scene after the credits!
A real thrilling movie! He is light, cheerful, without any censorship and family, very cool and spectacular. Yes, in the first part there were a little more stars (Cage, Strong and Flemming vs. one Carrie here) and more recognizable music, but inferior in this, the second part is very much superior to the first, so still the sequel really came out cooler than the original. Well, together they all look amazing and masterpiece superhero franchise!
