Becoming a famous watchmaker, the playwright dreamed of entering the upper world as an equal. Therefore, he decides on a step that will help in achieving the goal - the conclusion of a profitable marriage. Fate soon gives him this gift. Caron marries Madeleine Frank. Having inherited the estate of Beaumarchet, Madeleine passed it along with everything else to her new husband. In September 1757, Pierre-Augustin Beaumarchet still signed his letters with the name of Caron, in October he already specified Caron de Beaumarchet, and in February 1758 he was simply de Beaumarchet.
