Thomas Harris is an American writer and journalist. Harris was born on April 11, 1940 in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. Harris spent his childhood in Mississippi (Rich, Cleveland and Clarksdale).

In 1964 he graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. While at university, he worked as a reporter for The Waco Tribune-Herald. In college, Harris met his future wife Harriet. In this marriage, a daughter Anne was born, but soon the couple divorced.
After graduating from university and graduating, Harris travels to Europe. In 1968, he moved to New York, where he joined the Associated Press. While working here, Harris gained extensive experience in dealing with crime. Harris worked for the Associated Press until 1974.
In 1972, after learning of the death of eleven Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics, Harris wrote a novel.
Black Sunday" It became a bestseller in 1975. The success of this book allowed him to devote himself entirely to writing. In 1981, his next book was published.
Red dragon . This is the first book about Dr. Lector. The novel became a bestseller and was twice filmed. But his greatest success and fame came from his second book on Dr. Lector.
"Silence of the Lambs" It was released in 1988 and was filmed in 1991. In 1999, Harris' third book about Dr. "Cannibal" Lector was published, and in 2001 it was filmed.
In 2004, he signed a contract with Bentham Books for two books. The first is Hannibal: Ascension. The book was published abroad in 2006, and the film of the same name was released on February 8, 2007.
It is assumed that the second book will be a continuation of the story about Dr. Lector, although no official statements about the content of the book have been made.
