Peter Medak was born on December 23, 1937 in Budapest, Hungary. After the events in Hungary in 1956, he emigrated to Britain. In the film industry, Peter Medak has come a long way - he began as a sound engineer, worked as an editor, assistant director. He began his creative career with productions on television, was the second director on the set of the films Kaleidoscope (1966) and Funeral in Berlin (1967). As a director of the "big" movie, Peter Medack made his debut in 1968 with the film "Negatives", which attracted attention mainly by the participation of the then popular actress Glenda Jackson. He then directed the black comedy The Day in Joe Egg's Death (1972). Loudly about himself, Peter Medack declared the commercial success of the film “The Ruling Class” with Peter O’Toole in the title role of an English aristocrat who imagines himself as Jesus Christ and turned into Jack the Ripper. This work brought the director to a new orbit, and although in the future he shot not too successful (both creatively and box office), and even clearly craft tapes, on his account there are many bright films. Among them are the Canadian thriller "Changeling", the crime dramas "The Kray Brothers" (1990) and "Let Him Have It" (1991) based on the real events of the 1950s, and the modern mafia film "Romeo Bleeds" (1994). In 1998, Peter Medack acted as the director of the “horror” “Special 2”, and in 2000 he filmed the novel by C. Dickens “David Copperfield”. In addition, the director actively cooperated with television, among his filmed works on TV in different years - episodes of the series "Law and Order", "Tales from the Crypt", "Homicide Department", "Twilight Zone".
