Yuri Kulachev was born in Moscow on April 12, 1949. His parents were simple Soviet engineers and had nothing to do with artistic activity. For the first time, the audience saw him at the Moscow review of amateur artistic activity of young talents. Specialists, being fascinated by the performance of the young man, invited him to study at the Moscow School of Circus and Pop Art. In 1971, Kuklachev graduated from the course of N. A. Kis in acrobatics, juggling and balancing. A little later he acquired another specialty - theater critic, graduating from the State Institute of Theatre Art.
Since 1971, the artist began to work in the circus, and in 1976 he first performed with a number in which the “nail of the program” was a live cat. Next to her was a dog named Pashtet. But the audience was impressed by the presence of the cat Strelka, who was not going anywhere to escape from the arena. After all, until now it was believed that these animals are not amenable to training. Over the years, the number of furry artists has increased, and the popularity of Yuri’s numbers was simply a resounding success. The audience often went to the circus just to see this phenomenon.
With his famous programs “City and the World” and “Cats and Clowns”, he traveled half the world. A unique case happened to him in England, when Kuklachev was banned from importing animals due to quarantine. The British gave the trainer stray and domestic cats on the spot, and in just three months he made a unique room with them, for which he received a special diploma.
In 1990, on Kutuzovsky Prospekt in the premises of the former cinema "Call" was opened "Kat House" - the world's first cat theater Yuri Kuklachev. This is a very beautiful and cozy building, where both artists and four-legged brothers live well, of which there are more than a hundred in the troupe. The French recognized the Kuklachev Theater as the most original theater in the world, awarding the Golden Cup. Together with the actor works his wife Elena and son Dmitry.
Kuklachev regularly gives charity performances for orphanages and for disabled children. In addition, he wrote several books dedicated to his favorites – “The most ordinary chest”, “My friends are cats”, “From the life of cats”.
