Edmond Kareginovich Keosayan was born on October 9, 1936 in Leninakan. In 1952-54 he studied at the Moscow Economic Institute, in 1954-58 at the Yerevan Theatre Institute, worked as an entertainer in the State Pop Orchestra under the leadership of K. Orbelyan. Edmond Kareginovich Keosayan was born on October 9, 1936 in Leninakan. In 1952-54 he studied at the Moscow Economic Institute, in 1954-58 at the Yerevan Theatre Institute, worked as an entertainer in the State Pop Orchestra under the leadership of K. Orbelyan. In 1964 he graduated from the directorial faculty of VGIK, where he studied in the studio of E. Dzigan. Since 1964, Edmond Keosayan worked as a director of the Mosfilm film studio, since 1972 - at the Armenfilm film studio. Keosayan’s student short films have already been awarded prizes at international film festivals. In 1965, he filmed the play by A. Sofronov “The Ditch”. The director was glorified by the film “The Elusive Avengers”, staged by him in 1966 based on the story of P. Blyakhin “Red Devils”. The adventure film became one of the brightest events of the Soviet cinema of the 1960s and received two sequels that enjoyed no less love of the audience. In the 1970s, Edmond Keosayan, working at the Armenfilm studio, turned to the national Armenian theme. The most famous film of this period was the psychological drama “When September Comes” (1975), awarded the prize of the International Film Festival in Cairo; in the film, the director’s idea was embodied by a talented acting ensemble led by Armen Dzhigarkhanyan. Since 1982, E. Keosayan again began to work at Mosfilm, where he staged a film story about the heroes of the anti-fascist resistance “Somewhere the Oriole Cries” (1982), a drama about the victims of repression “Ascension” (1984). The director also acted as the author and co-writer of his films.
