Pavel Mikhailovich is a native of Leningrad, where he was born on October 7, 1946. He became interested in photography in early childhood (the earliest of his photographs is dated 1952), growing up, worked part-time on the earliest works, from a loader to a tailor-designer, but he never left the camera.
He became a photojournalist for the first time during military service. Then he graduated from the school of military officers, and, having been demobilized, entered the faculty of journalism at the Leningrad University.
Already from the third year he became a full-time photo correspondent of the magazine “Smena”, after he worked in other publications. Since 1983, he has been the Dean of the Faculty of Photo Correspondents of the St. Petersburg Union of Journalists at the House of Journalists, his former students now work in various parts of the world. The master himself organized more than thirty solo exhibitions during his career and was awarded a number of prestigious professional awards.
