Jimi Mistry was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England, on January 1, 1973. Both parents of the boy are doctors. His mother is Irish and his father is Indian. The child was raised in the Catholic faith.
After several years, the family moved to Cardiff, where Jimmy graduated from high school, where he did not study well, his grades were quite low. Until the age of 17, he did not think about acting.
To decide where to go after school, his father suggested that Jimi evaluate his strengths and weaknesses, make a list. In the end, they came to the conclusion that the best option is show business. Therefore, the future actor submitted his documents to several theater colleges, but was refused from everywhere.
Distraught, Jimi Mistry began working as a bartender. After working for a year, he decided to try again, but this time he sent his papers to only two colleges. He was admitted to the School of Speech and Drama in Birmingham.
The family did not have enough money to pay for training, so the young man worked in nightclubs as a DJ. After graduating from college in 1995, the actor was unsure whether acting would have anything to do with his future.
The debut in the film business was wordless, Jimi took part in the filming of the film “Hamlet” under the guidance of Kenneth Branagh. In the theater, the actor received the role of Tariq Khan in the play East is East. The performance was a huge success, so the director Damien Odonnell decided to film it. The film was released in 1998.
Then the actor participated in the filming of television series:
"Born a Romantic" "The West End People."
In 2001, Jimi met director Daisy von Scherler while working on the film The Mysterious Masseur. She was engaged in the choice of the actor for the main role in the musical comedy “Guru”, the choice fell on Jimi Mistry.
Then there were other American films with his participation: “Almost straight”, “Blood diamond”, “Exam” and other equally popular films.
