Carlos Reigadas is a Mexican director, producer, editor, screenwriter and cameraman. Carlos Reigadas Castillo was born on October 10, 1971 in Mexico City. He first became interested in cinematography after watching films by Russian film director Andrei Tarkovsky. He studied at St. Mary's College in Derbshire, and then entered the University in Mexico City, where he studied law. Carlos Reigadas Castillo was born on October 10, 1971 in Mexico City. He first became interested in cinematography after watching films by Russian film director Andrei Tarkovsky. He studied at St. Mary's College in Derbshire, and then entered the University in Mexico City, where he studied law. After graduation, he worked for the United Nations and specialized in armed conflict.
In 1997, he made his film debut at a film competition in Belgium with his first short film Maxhumain, and in 1999 he began writing the script for the first feature film Japan. Filming began in 2001, and in 2002, Japan received the Golden Camera at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the Coral Award at the Havana Film Festival.
In 2005, Reigadas together with Amat Escalante made a film.
"Battle in Heaven" . The film gained worldwide fame due to its erotic scenes and was nominated for the Palme d'Or, but the award went to another film.
A film was made in 2007.
"Silent Light" , who won the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and in 2009 Carlos, together with director Jaime Romandia, finished work on the film Tree with Antonio Martin Beato in the title role. The film premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
In early 2010, the director began working on the film.
"After darkness light" For the Berlin Film Festival. It was an autobiographical picture about the feelings, dreams and memories of the author. The film was released in 2012 and won the nomination “Best Director” at the Cannes Film Festival. The film tells the story of a young Latino couple who leave bustling Europe and return to Mexico in search of a quiet quiet life for themselves and their children.
Carlos Reygadas is currently working on the film “Eli” as a producer.
