He wrote scripts for more than 2 dozen films. Among his famous works are “Non-Professionals” (he received a special prize from the jury at the Turin Festival for this film), “Katala”,
"Mongol" .

In the 90s, Sergei Bodrov Sr. left Russia and settled in the United States. There he began to work with his wife. In 1999, he made a film about the war in Chechnya.
"Caucasian prisoner" . She won the Nick Award for Best Film of the Year. The awards and the script, this time “Felix” from the European film Academy. In general, throughout his career, Bodrov received many awards. In 1986 he received the first prize in Tbilisi. In 1989 he won a prize in Montreal, etc.
In addition to this activity, Sergey Bodrov Sr. paid attention to writing various works. Under his name came several collections of feuilletons and stories. In France, he even published his book “Freedom = Paradise”. As a producer, he acted in the films: “Yakuza’s Daughter”, “Bucks”, “Mongol”, “Shiza”, “Let’s do it quickly”. He had a chance to act in films, however, at the very beginning of his career. So, in 1986 he got a cameo role in the film “Alien, White and Ryaboy”, and in 1981 – in the film “Favorite woman mechanic Gavrilov”, where he played a sailor. It is worth noting that in both cases the roles were so insignificant that the name of Sergei Bodrov was not even noted in the credits.
Of course, it is impossible not to mention the fact that he was the father of the famous actor and director Sergei Bodrov Jr., who tragically died on September 20, 2002.
