Dan Harris was born on August 29, 1979 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, USA. The desire to become a film director arose when he worked as a schoolboy assistant to a production designer during the filming of one of Woody Allen’s films. Harris received his education at Columbia University in New York, graduating in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree. During his studies, he wrote several screenplays and directed a number of short films, and his script "America's Least Wanted" won the Louis Sadler Prize. After graduating from university, Harris moved to Los Angeles and began working with screenwriter Michael Dougherty. Soon, two writers were hired by director Bryan Singer to work on the film X-2 (2003). In 2005, Dan Harris made his debut as a director, putting on his script a full-length dramatic comedy "Fictional Heroes", in which the main roles were played by Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Daniels, Emil Hirsch and Michelle Williams. The film's budget was only $10 million. Harris, along with Dougherty, also wrote the script for a new version of Superman, which is scheduled for release in 2006.
