At the age of 15, Jean Anouille came to Paris, where he graduated from school. After graduation, he studied law at the Sorbonne for a while, writing short humorous scripts for cinema. In 1928 he married actress Monelle Valentine. Since the early 30s, Anouille has been working as a secretary for director Louis Juvet.
Anouille died in 1987 at the age of 77 at his home in Lausanne.
Anui wrote his first play, "Pornostai", in 1932, then until 1960, Anui wrote on the play almost every year. Success came in 1937 after the play "Journey Without Luggage" was staged in Paris.
It gained international popularity after World War II.
Anuy wrote screenplays for several films, including Monsieur Vincent (1947) and Little Moliere (1959).
The plays of Jean Anouy are staged on the stage of Russian theaters: “Antigone” in 2001 was staged on the stage of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre.
