Honored British actress Judy Dench was born in York on December 9, 1934. Judy since childhood was fond of art and after school entered the art school for the artist-designer. But then she decided to connect her life with the stage and entered the London School of Diction and Drama. At the age of 23, she made her debut in the Liverpool Theatre as Ophelia in Hamlet, and 4 years after working in various provincial theaters, she was accepted into the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Her theatrical career is one of the brightest in the history of English theater: she played leading roles in such productions as Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cherry Orchard, Henry V, Twelfth Night, Lady Macbeth. For her services, Judy Dench was awarded many prestigious British awards: in 1970 she was awarded the Order of the British Empire, and in 1988 she was ordained as Dame Commander of the British Empire.
Judy made her film debut in 1964. And although she did not play many roles, many of her works brought the actress deserved fame - for her role in the film.
