Born August 5, 1958 in the Voronezh region. In 1967 he entered the Podgoren Music School in the Bayan class, which he graduated in 1973. Played in the school theater. World record holder (1983) in discus throw with a score of 71.86 meters.
Today is the official record of Russia.
He was a member of the national team of the country from 1977 to 1995.

In 1979, Dumchev for the first time participated in a documentary film about athletics. He played himself, of course, the record holder.
