The famous Russian theater director Lev Abramovich Dodin was born in 1944 in Novokuznetsk. Already in his school years he showed interest in theatrical art, was engaged in the amateur art circle.
In 1966 he graduated with honors from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography, after which he began his creative activity with the play “After the Execution, I ask..” staged in the Leningrad Theatre of Young Spectators. However, after the second production, the play “Our people – we will count!”, his relations with the leadership of the theater deteriorated. This was the reason for the departure of Lev Abramovich Dodin from the Youth Theater and the transition to the Theater of Drama and Comedy on Litein. A number of performances were staged by a talented director and on the stage of the Small Drama Theatre. The most famous works of Lev Abramovich Dodin are the performances “Elektra”, “Brothers and Sisters”, “House”, “Lord of the Flies”, “Demons”, “For fun we are given young years”, which brought the talented director great popularity not only at home but also abroad.
Since 1967, Lev Dodin begins to teach directing and acting, conducts master classes in foreign theater studios. For his significant contribution to the development of modern theater art, Lev Abramovich Dodin was awarded the State Prize of Russia. /
