Graduated from GITIS (course A.D. Popov and M.O. Knebel). The thesis performance “The Highway to the Big Bear” by Yuri Semenov (1963) was staged in the Central Theater of the Soviet Army, headed by A.D. Popov. In 1963-70 he was a director of the Central Theatre of the Soviet Army. In 1971-86 he was a director at the Maly Theatre. In the early 90s - artistic director of the Central Theater of the Soviet Army. He staged performances in other Moscow theaters, as well as abroad (mainly Russian classics):

He staged performances in other Moscow theaters, as well as abroad (mainly Russian classics): “The Death of John the Terrible” by A. K. Tolstoy (1966), “The Conspiracy of Fiesco in Genoa” by F. Schiller (1977), “Zykovs” by M. Gorky (1985), “Paul I” by D. S. Merezhkovsky (1989) and others. Leonid Heifets is a teacher, professor of RATI. Leonid Heifets has been cooperating with the Moscow Council Theater since 1996. They were staged performances “Running Wanderers” based on the play by A. Kazantsev, and “The Cherry Orchard” based on the play by A. Chekhov.
