Mikhail Mikhailovich Kotsyubinsky was born on September 17, 1864 in Vinnytsia.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Kotsyubinsky was born on September 17, 1864 in Vinnytsia.

In the second half of the 90s, the author captures the life of several layers of bourgeois society in his works. The famous work of Michael, reflecting this theme, is the story “Fata morgana”, written in 1904-1910. In other works, written from 1904 to 1912, the writer reflects a wide panorama of the events of the revolution of 1905-1907.
The writer describes how the people deal with the oppressors, how a new village is born, how people come together for a revolutionary onslaught. In his novellas Laughter and He Comes, the author shows the urban province tormented by pogroms.
Mikhail appeared in Ukrainian literature as an artist of the revolution. It was this writer who had a great influence on the development of prose of such outstanding personalities as A. Golovko, Y. Yanovsky, A. Dovzhenko, Oles Gonchar. Kotsyubinsky was close to Maxim Gorky. The latter highly appreciated the work of Michael. Lenin was personally acquainted with the writer and called him the closest writer to the Bolsheviks. It is based on the novels of Kotsyubinsky that the films “Horsemen are not guilty” in 1957, “Bloody Dawn” in 1957, “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” in 1965, “A dear price” in 1958 were shot. By the way, the books of this author have been translated into many languages of the world.
Currently, two museums are dedicated to Mikhail Kotsyubinsky, which are located in Chernihiv and Vinnytsia. In honor of the author, two settlements are named - pt. Kotsyubinskoye Kyiv-Svyatoshinsky district of Kyiv region, Mikhailo-Kotsyubinskoye, Chernihiv district of Chernihiv region.
