Motorhead, a British rock band, was formed in 1975 in London by bassist, vocalist and songwriter Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister. He is the only permanent member and leader of the group. Some attribute Motorhead to the new wave of British heavy metal, caused by the decline in the popularity of bands such as "Deep Purple" "Led Zeppelin", "Uriah Heep", "Black Sabbath", whose vocalist at the time was Ozzy Osbourne.
