Nelly’s fascination with music manifested itself very early – at the age of four, the future soloist first sings in a duet with her mother. At the age of 9, he began to study the ukulele (the national Portuguese instrument, a type of guitar), and at the age of 12 he wrote his first song. While studying at school, he plays in a jazz band, deals with a private teacher in the vocal class and dances enthusiastically. The style direction that shocked Nelly is rhythm and blues.
At the age of 17, Nelly left for Toronto, where he got a job in an alarm company, at the same time creating the first musical band called “Nelstar”. All songs performed by the group are written by Furtado herself.
In 2000, she released her first album Whoa, Nelly!, containing a rather interesting sound cocktail created by the singer herself.
In 2001, Nelly took part in a music show, where she performed with Sarah McLachlan, Beth Orton and Chrissy Hynd composition.
In 2003, Nelly gave birth to a daughter named Nevis. In 2006, the singer released a new album “Loose”, the work on which took place in different parts of the globe – both in Los Angeles and Brazil. Furtado took part in the filming of the detective television series CSI: Crime Scene New York in 2007, and the following year he starred in the movie Max Payne.
In 2007, Nelly recorded a duet with Timbaland , with which he records many compositions, including "Promiscuous".
