Benjamin Biolet is a French composer, poet, arranger, producer and singer born in Villefranche sur Saone near Lyon on January 20, 1973 and has been studying music since childhood. His father, a clarinetist of the local orchestra, made a lot of efforts to ensure that the children (Benjamen has a sister – Coralie Clemen) received a decent musical education, the boy graduated from music school in the violin class, mastered the tuba, which he played in the youth brass orchestra. Later he entered the prestigious Conservatory of Lyons and learned to play the trombone.
In the early 90s, the young man independently masters the guitar, tries to write songs and works on the first demos, Mozart and Beethoven give way to modern music and in 1994 Biole takes the place of a vocalist in Mateo Gallion, a rock band that released one concert album, and did not find its listener. Two years later, Biole became the owner of a contract with EMI, for which he recorded the single la Revolution, which also went unnoticed.
In 1997, Hubert Munier invited Benjamin to work on the disc of the Lyon band l’Affaire Louis Trio, a year later the young man again tries himself as a solo artist, but the single le Jour viendra does not bring him success. It is not known how the fate of the young musician would have developed further, if he did not meet in the late 90s novice singer Keren Anne Seidel; Biole wrote most of the material for her debut album, which he produced himself. Warmly met with criticism, the work of Keren Anne and Biolay attracted the attention of veteran French pop Henri Salvador, who asked permission to include a cover version of the song Jardin d’hiver in his new album (he received Victoria for it).
