He is engaged in basic research that can be useful, for example, for the creation of quantum computers. In 2003, he conducted an experiment that amazed the whole world, during which the light ray “stopped” for 10-20 microseconds. The photons moved back and forth between the two control beams, but the momentum as a whole remained stationary.
