Siri Hustvedt (born February 19, 1955) is an American writer, screenwriter, and literary critic. She became known mainly as a novelist, and also published a book of poems, and a number of short stories and essays.
Siri was born in Northfield, Minnesota. Her father Lloyd Hustvedt, a professor of Scandinavian literature, and her mother Esther Vegan emigrated from Norway.
For almost thirty years, the wife and muse of another famous novelist, Paul Oster.
She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and their daughter, singer and actress Sophie Oster.
