Jo Nesbo, a popular contemporary writer and musician, is deservedly considered one of the founders of the so-called “new wave” in Norwegian literature. Such works as “Cockroaches” and “Netopyr”, which came out of the pen of the future writer in the late 90s of the last century, not only gave the ground for reflection to literary critics, but were well received by a wide audience. The fame of the Norwegian writer came quite late. When his first novel was published, Nesbø was already 37 years old.

The future writer was born in 1960 in Oslo, but soon his parents moved to Mold, where the young man grew up. Here he studied at an economic school, after which he worked as a stockbroker and freelance journalist in a number of local magazines.
Interest in literature arose in the young Yu quite early. His mother, a librarian, often took him with her. The boy had access to a wide range of books and at a very young age read an impressive number of works that are not always honored by adults.
Being a composer and the main vocalist of the rock band Di Derre, which has gained wide popularity in Norway, Nesbø primarily considers himself a musician, and then a writer. Despite numerous writing awards, which were awarded to his works, Yu treats his literary activity primarily as a hobby. Perhaps that is why his works attract the attention of readers, because they have a minimum of commercial component.
Currently, the writer lives in Oslo, and the total local circulation of books written by him is today more than one and a half million copies. His last book, titled Ghost, came out in 2011.
