The eponymous adaptation of the novel by Arif Aliyev. It's important! The book, as usual, is "deeper and wider", and in places is fascinating, but this is not the point - it is recommended to watch only after reading (listening) the novel, otherwise it can be "stupidly cruel and nothing more." The whole philosophy of the book is probably difficult to convey, and therefore some characters in the film are not revealed, if not to say faceless. And the ending is different... Overall, good, actors drag, but the film adaptation always requires a more venerable director.
A powerful parable film directed by Alexander Melnik. Despite the hardcore and total thrash, it's so deep that in a few words you can't reveal - the whole philosophy of life and death that a person is, what distinguishes a criminal from his jailer - all in the film and more. The execution was cancelled and the prisoners were sent to the northern island, providing the necessary things for survival. Everybody, set up a colony. But like Schwartz & #39: You think you killed a dragon? No, he's in you' They are already poisoned by the system and after a brutal stabbing, they organize a semblance of a prison zone again. Every snippet of the film, starting with the credits, has meaning, like a symbol in a picture that helps you read it. When a victim destined to be food asks for a drink: 'Give me water, you're not human!', it sounds strange among murderers. And suddenly comes out with a mug from a hidden, frightened crowd, the most cynical killer, who cut the guts out of people and measured out of curiosity - as long as in the textbook, or not. That's who, suddenly, turned out to be human! The camera work is excellent - general plans, snatching the camera details helps to get an idea of the project participants, the nature of the island lost in the seas. The film is accompanied by the music of Gleb Matveychuk and Andrei Komissarov, complementing and completing the full picture of events. It's just amazing the pre-final episode of shooting everyone from the sea. Operation 'Clean Island' Above all this apocalypse sounds the aria of Bach from the fragment ' Passion according to Matthew' when Christ was crucified, and Peter for the third time denied:
'Have mercy,
My God, my tears for my sake!
Look, here.
Your heart and eyes weep before you.
Bitter.
Have mercy!'
I don't think it's a random choice. Aria sounds, the camera leads us through all the scenes of the death, transfers to the cabin of the ship, where Dapkunaite in the image of an international observer has already given the order to shoot and looks at a fragment of the triptych of Bosch 'The Temptation of St. George. Anthony' on the wall. This is an image of Black Mass. Black Mass is celebrated at this time and on the shore, something infernal. Play actors at such a level that everyone deserves an Oscar. Good Lavronenko in the lead role, convincing Basharov. But a complete separation, something unreal is a game of Feskov and Sharakois.
And again the credits with photos of these villains, murderers in the past life with family, in the profession, happy, with human faces. When did they come out of this world, and what did they do?
Not far away. Planet Earth. Having finally banned the death penalty, humanity faces the problem of clogged prisons. Keeping so many criminals in custody is troublesome and costly. This is how the project “New Earth” is born – the autonomous life of prison communes in places as remote as possible from society.
As an experiment, the first batch of convicts are brought to an uninhabited island beyond the Arctic Circle, including former pilot Ivan Georgievich Zhilin. The island has everything necessary for life - food, clothing, fuel, building materials. From that moment on, maniacs, rapists, thieves and murderers of all stripes are no longer convicts, but colonists who were given a chance for a new life on a new land.
From a film with such a plot canvas could get anything: a new republic of Shkid, a new thug action movie, a new episode of the show “The Last Hero”, a new opus in the genre of survival movie, and as a result, an old as a world parable about a person, his soul, faith, love.
Yes, in the “New Earth” there are enough shocking scenes of violence and cruelty, but this is only its outer shell, only an excuse to talk to the viewer about the greatest gift and curse given to a person from above – freedom of choice.
Remember what the poet said:
Everyone chooses for themselves
Women, religion, and the road.
To serve the devil or the prophet.
Everyone chooses for themselves.
Everyone chooses for themselves.
A word for love and for prayer.
A sword for a duel, a sword for a battle
Each person chooses to choose .

This absolutely wild film came out in a period of growing financial prosperity of our cinema and turned out to be incredibly special, scary and symbolic. There is something fascinating in him, forcing him to turn to him from time to time at least mentally. "New Earth" can be recommended to everyone and at the same time no one. Even now, and years have passed since I saw this film for the last time, everything is remembered to the smallest detail and these visions can displace anything, any everyday life and any nightmare from your own life. This movie, I don't know for whom. Not for the particularly impressionable, this is for sure, not for those who are able to fantasize something else from above, much more than that, and not for those who take everything literally, you can go crazy.
“New Earth” is based on the work of Arif Aliyev, the plot is borrowed decently and in full, but, as it often happens, very little similar. Even the shocking candor of the film failed to take on such a responsibility - to get into the head of an abnormal. The craziness in this film will be, as will many other things, but “New Earth” somehow does not impress the Russian film. There are a lot of familiar faces, familiar even to me, although at that time I watched our films in full, hoping for something, but the atmosphere of the film left an imprint on images, faces, thoughts. It came to insanity - I had to go online during the viewing to make sure that Marat Basharov was really in front of me. Then even Dapkunaite appeared on the screen and I only realized after a while that it was her. With this expression, Dapkunait do not walk.
The plot of the film could be described as “Lord of the Flies for adults” ("Lord of the Flies) Golding, where the children were on a desert island, if such characteristics are at all appropriate. Everything really fits into simple logic, but it would be better not. Just imagine a group of prisoners on a desert island. But even the most daring assumptions will not reflect what is really happening in the New Land, although there is no need for fantasy. After the film, there is a terrible, poisonous aftertaste that has persisted, as my practical experience suggests, for decades. The whole world is divided into people who watched the New Earth and everyone else. What horror movies are there, oh, lovers of tickling the nerves of their neighbor, watch “New Earth” and your old Fredy Krueger will be terrified under a wooden bench with screams to be released to his good America.
Probably, the film is not a work of art from the point of view of world standards, but somehow you do not pay attention to it. Perhaps the film is too unconventional and brings its themes to the reader too clearly. The film is horribly unhealthy and you really don’t need to watch it. Don't know. I called this film real and attributed it to the achievements of Russian cinema of the current century, which can only be counted on fingers. Readers of the book, by the way, the film is perceived more easily. Perhaps, having decided to view, it is worth a dozen pages of Aliyev’s book to read first.

To begin with, there is no fiction, or action movie here especially not. This is more of a dystopian psychological thriller with elements of drama.
The film causes emotions leaves behind an impression - albeit ambiguous, but quite powerful.
Sensitive people cannot watch it at all, because the film is filled with murder, cruelty, dismemberment, murder, cannibalism, psychological thrashing, murder, murder and more murders. At the same time, these are not those Hollywood headshots, but quite realistic breaking heads with bricks, mounts, scraps, evisceration with screwdrivers, shovels. There were about 300-400 pieces per film (in the plot 208 + the game of the Americans).
In general, in style, Baskova’s films, such as “5 bottles of vodka”, were very reminiscent of me, although they were shot much better, and the director does not display an abomination on the screen, only for the sake of the abomination itself, just to push it into the film more.
And although I am frightened by maniacs who say that the same 5 bottles of vodka is a film about LIFE, in this case I would even use the term. You can praise God, if not yours.
There is no story here, it is very blurry. Heroes are not clear who – not revealed in any way. There is only the oppressive and very terrible atmosphere that life is worthless and the atmosphere of psychological oppression – when people enter the cattle pens themselves to be slaughtered and eaten and hope only for what is not today.
You know, after watching this movie, I have two emotions: despair and hope. And despite the tragic outcome of the film, the filmmakers still retain in me, the viewer, the confidence that the desire for goodness and humanity, true humanism should be the basis of the internal world order of each of us. And as soon as a person loses his humanity, he really turns into what nature created him - into the most ferocious predator.
The final credits of the film are very indicative, which very important complement the character of each character in the film. The film contains a giant philosophical and humanistic message.
For me, by the nature of my professional activity, the final episode of the film, when the Anglo-Saxons are landed on the island, also seemed important. The moment of disassembling the keys is very symbolic.
Remember how to disassemble the keys ' Russian' and how to disassemble the keys ' Anglo-Saxons' In some ways, the authors of the film outlined the confrontation between the two cultures (or the peculiarities of the mentality) and I, as a viewer, would like to see this plot more detailed, but alas, screen time did not allow this to be shown. I don’t think the movie is fake or fake.
Definitely the film requires both mental and mental work from the viewer, which unfortunately many viewers do not want to do.
Bottom line, a great film that perfectly complements the ideas 'Raida', 'High rises' and 'Through snow'.
This film was directed by Russian Alexander Melnyk, for whom “New Earth” is his debut work.
The film tells the story of a possible social experiment of the future, where prisoners are placed on a desert island with (almost) complete freedom of action. The idea itself is interesting. Two hours of screen time passed unnoticed. Atmospheric, depressive, heavy. The action scenes are adequately staged, although there is a lot to strive for. The soundtrack, unfortunately, was not memorable.
What did the creators want to tell us? We'll figure it out. Remember the first scenes on the island. What immediately happens is what characterizes all Russian “spiritual institutions” (prison, army): the seizure of power by the Chechens (and this is not inciting ethnic strife, this is their real name) with a significant numerical superiority of Russians. Symbolic? Symbolic. But when the Russians realize that survival requires rallying, the Chechens lose the fight literally without a fight. The whole point? The point. One way or another, everyone is on their own. A new power grab is inevitable. Therefore, “leaders” are those who know how to unite. Even the weak in every sense Estonian became one of the main ones. This is what the creators wanted to say.
Of the actors I can mention Marat Basharov, Konstantin Lavronenko and Dmitry Sharakois - they played well. Ingeborg Dapkunaite and Andrei Feskov played average. But Paul the collectors did not like the word “in general”.
Great movie. It failed at the box office, although higher in the level of many Russian “masterpieces”

Without any doubt, Alexand Melnik’s debut film “New Earth” pretends to be a universal parable on the theme of Novorossiysk history.
... Perestroika, started by the top, begins with the liberation of the “Soviet” (prison) people, but immediately turns into a people’s bacchanalia-gathering. The victims of shock therapy are numerous. Soon the first Chechen war begins. But despite temporary setbacks, careless Russians outnumber close-knit Vainakhs. A brief period of intoxicating but bloody freedom flows dialectically into authoritarianism. The elite of the liberated class drives the cattle-people into the camp, eats canned food (public property) and has rubber women (silicone media divas). The lump is held by a charismatic but formidable pahan leader. Under a brutal anti-people regime, weaklings are eaten. This leads to a natural reduction in population.
But it's not all that sad. Crystally honest pilot Kaloev-Zhilin (Lavronenko), a maniac with a delicate mental organization Sip (Feskov) and technical intellectual locksmith Tolik (Basharov) overturn the hated new-hebes regime and return the prisoners freedom. But late. In the upcoming Armmagedon (World War III), everyone dies in large numbers: both Americans and Russians, but pilot Gilin (or “Eternally Living”) flies over the horizon to meet with the dead family – we will meet in Heaven.
In fact, New Earth is as far from being a parable as the folk mythology on which it is implicated is far from the reality of our being. The picture simply parasitizes on common pseudo-historical cliches and popular lies, widespread among passionate pensioners, stuffed with wives and lives of “potriots” and just network morons. This is probably what was intended.
In order not to talk about the author's claims, the film by Alexander Melnik is carefully tailored according to ancient cinematic patterns. It is so secondary that from the first minutes of viewing, the viewer gets into a worn-out plot track, from which only one exit is in the doors of the cinema. All compassion is lost, and boredom grows in proportion to the number of corpses. "New Earth" weaves dullly at the end of a string of predecessors - numerous island and prison dystopias. Students copy all their plot moves. From this film terribly loses in terms of art, but wins in money. If there were no “Lord of the Flies” in 1963 and 1990, “Turgeons” (1989) with Silevestre Stalonne, “The Beach” (2000) with Leonardo DiCaprio, the late Soviet “Infinity” (1989) with Tashkov and several dozen other similar films, then “New Earth” would be a masterpiece. Butter and butter.
In all these paintings from the ages there is a struggle of general humanistic and social Darwinist principles. Everywhere the friendship of the square-bright Hero and the comic philatelist-maniac-glasses blooms. The latter, by the way, for some reason at all times try to "lower" or eat the Pakhan sixes. Everywhere the ball is ruled by standard, tin Pahana Monkeys. On the islands, airplanes, cars, secret passages and hatches are generously scattered and stashed in elderberry, seducing prisoners to escape (Where is the Administration only looking?). From time to time, the protagonist, played by Leonardo DiCaprio or Lavronenko, hides from the totalitarian regime in the depths of the island. As every night ends at dawn, so every dystopia almost always ends in rebellion. All this is accompanied by the tortures of the “Humanistic” Administration in the modus “It is difficult to be God.” There is something new in the film though. According to the latest trends, the head of the Administration is Superwoman (Dapkunaite). But the alternation and length of plans in “New Earth” is exactly the same as in the classic Hollywood film. Close-up, landscape, sadness of the hero, music and action. And so on in a circle.
However, there is no doubt that slavish adherence to the canons will bring the film commercial success. Therefore, despite the fact that the film is average, I strongly recommend it to watch ordinary high school students, vocational schools and wives of businessmen with a fitness club card.

When it seemed that there was no hope for salvation, and humanity was doomed, he appeared - the first film of domestic production that can and should be watched. And even praise.
And not that all the actors who played in it won awards, and the director went to shoot a new “Terminator”, but overall it turned out very well. About the majority of modern Russian films focused on PR Camedi Club and Goshi Kutsenko, this can not be said.
Excellent team
The first holy dogmas of Russian cinema was betrayed by the operator. Just because he shot well. Good enough, he was probably kidnapped by National Geographic. In general, no complaints, only delight and worship.
Charter to rewrite the same thing, revolt and writers. The plot turned out to be unbanal, fresh and interesting. We missed the ending, but maybe we were just tired. In any case, the film came out so exciting (although who would have thought) that it is difficult to break away from the screen.
The actors were happy too. At last, when watching, there was no feeling that this children's morning has never been rehearsed. Rehearsed, I guess. And repeatedly - and to such an extent that they really penetrated everything that happened.
Total
Overall, the viewing experience is positive. And not because pride overshadows the film’s flaws. No, that's a lot of them. The movie itself is just not bad. Only because of the abundance of cruelty and realism, it is better that impressionable and pregnant people, who are usually protected, never know about it.
From the first frame we find ourselves on a huge island covered with ice and snow. Behind the scenes - steps and rapid breathing, the feeling as if a person is running a couple of meters away from us. The camera goes down, and suddenly we see a man descending, but he is so far away that he seems a tiny creature against the background of the mountain landscape. Actually, the whole film is a story about small creatures, about which mankind, and the whole world, and nature, and God in general does not care what happens on a stone island, where only rodents and slippery centipedes live. Landscapes here are not distinguished by picturesque and beauty - they rather emphasize the alienation and coldness of this place. And although the sun never sets here, the entire island is in the shadow of inevitable doom.
The authors of the film are not in vain the first in the list of genres indicated “fiction”. That is, we should expect to break the boundaries of convention, as we see in the beginning. The young prison chief, who looks more like a laboratory student at a chemical institute, prisoners are happy to let into their souls, share their dreams, and those who sharpen their teeth on him say this even with some tenderness, which strongly contradicts the notions of Russian prisons, the cruelty of which the Strasbourg court cannot believe.
So, in a world full of humanism and respect for human rights, there are no executions, and there are so many applicants for life imprisonment that international organizations have come up with nothing better than to evict convicts to a “paradise” on a desert island without protection. And here, even foreign colleagues, from whom one could expect compassion or help, resemble the same island, cold and silent.
The slogan of the production “between hell and paradise” is more appropriate not to the real life of the characters of the film, but to their inner state. On the threshold of death, there is nothing to think about except death and God. And in favor of what to make a choice - a noble act or the opportunity to live a little more.
Of the actors, Andrei Feskov especially liked the role of a young Sipa with weak nerves and Dmitry Sharakois, who played Levin from Interns. Here, Dmitry perfectly turned out his character - a cowardly jackal, a sleazy rat, smearing under the strongest.
The film is certainly interesting. Perhaps if you developed the plot in a more realistic way without a mixture of fantastic moments, it would turn out a good drama. But as it is, so it is, thanks to Alexander Melnik for the original Russian picture.
You look at the movie and you think, wow! Positive reviews for Russian films are dying out. Intrigued by the plot of the annotation, and you get caught.
In general, the usual black prison plot in the usual Russian format, you expect something fresh, but no, the Russian person shoots everything according to the same scenario. You expect that there will be a film of a social genre, you will be told about the project, you will be shown how such a society of prisoners will develop ... but in fact a popular genre of Russian directors called Russian spirituality. The camera from the place of building a new society moves on the main character, who is trying to survive on the island of ice and snow, and the genre, meanwhile, from the social moves to some fairy tale, the film begins to look like “Reach the sky”, and the adventure of the main characters is a death wish fulfillment.
In the end, it all looks like a very bad pseudo-Hollywood (even the Americans were invited) with disgusting playfulness. You really feel that this is a movie, that is, no immersion, and how everything is fake. We started well and ended up dead.
In one of his best articles, the philosopher and sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky, exploring the causes of the mass humanitarian disasters of the last century, wrote: The fundamental difference between capitalist “market” terror and totalitarian terror is that the latter is carried out by a government that assumes political and moral responsibility. On the contrary, market terror is carried out spontaneously and is not held accountable at the political level.” People who do not fit into the next economic and political construct are quietly dying out, not publicly recognized, not mourned, not avenged, freeing the necessary resources for the authors of the construct. And no one not only admits, but also does not feel personal guilt for it. The purely therapeutic necessity for an artistic study of the mechanisms of liberal terror was long overdue in Russia and did not seem to have been realized earlier only because the trauma of the catastrophe of disintegration was too strong among the people. Ten consecutive obese years have twisted the people's psyche with a shock-absorbing fat, thereby preparing the ground for the perception of what has recently happened - for a start in the form of a parable. Arif Aliyev’s scenario came in this context in an appropriate way, perfectly standing in all the slots of the formed cognitive gap: building an alternative reality, but easily conceived, marginal, but open empathy, modeled, but utero recognizable. “New Earth” was doomed to a burning, albeit somewhat shameful, hidden from the audience interest, and with it – to stylistic and semantic loneliness.
The idea of cleanly, without getting dirty, to send the scum of the human race somewhere out of sight, out of disturbing thoughts - out there, insured and reinsured against him by geography, of course, is not new: after all, so was the whole continent. Another thing is that the global world no longer has places suitable for the autonomous life of colonists - any evictions to the rocky and barren islands of the Barents Sea in their survival inevitably depend on the goodwill of the Big Earth, and if she forgets about them - die in terrible suffering. And the temptation to send and forget how radioactive waste buried somewhere else is so great. Actually, all the sweetness, all the charm of the idea lies in the possibility of complete and sincere forgetting of the unpleasant, disturbing, unappetizing. And forget it is easy: just a mug of water in bags of sugar, a pregnant female lemming in a container with cereal, a defective batch of knives, an empty dummy instead of a signal buoy - a simple chain of accidents, easily attributed to negligence, not malice - and the mathematical expectation of the life expectancy of the colonists close to zero. According to Aliyev, the humane civilized world thoroughly studied the Mysterious Island. Jules Verne with the sole purpose to identify and plug all the loopholes that allow landed on the island uninhabited to survive, and surviving – not to go wild, but to remain human. The only exception to the circular hand of oblivion is bargained for by sociologists, who, on the other side of the mirror glass, greedily and satisfiedly follow – of course, not the welfare of the colonists – but the process of their dehumanization. And they put the facts convenient to them in the register, in order, if anything, to have their standard national justification (" On our side not a single person died, only eighteen natives).
Attitude to responsibility, obedient willingness to bear it alone, panic fear of being attracted to it by others becomes the main psychological watershed of the script. In Aliyev’s case, it turns out that only the first, the second – whether they are a hundred times innocent formally, by bystanders, watching through the magic device of Lewenhoek how the bastards frolic and devour each other – are raised beasts in colleges, monsters in masks of people, standing infinitely below the last urka, who once and for all understood what kind of bazaar should be answered. Lower because it's more dangerous. It is because of them that the victims of economic efficiency remain unrecognized and the crimes committed against them remain unconscious, and economic holocausts can be repeated over and over again. They are crafty: their false speeches are able to seduce the most persistent, the most enlightened: jailed for lynching Ivan Zhilin was once the commander of the spaceship "Tahmasib", a photon ship that plowed the expanses of the universe by way of Amalthea, but then he (and at the same time all readers) betrayed by the authors, flattered by the predatory things of the century. But, fortunately, they are not all-powerful, because the hero sometimes outgrows the creator in order to tremble and soar.
I knew about the film “New Earth” for a long time, but I decided to watch only after I saw the trailer for the next film by Alexander Melnik “Territory”. I watched in three squats, but only because of the lack of time it was not possible to see the whole thing at once.
The beginning of the picture was not too addictive and sometimes unpleasant. I'm not talking about the first scene, I'm talking about prison and prisoner transfer. It seemed that watching the series in the spirit of modern domestic television, for example, extremely unpleasant for me channel “NTV”. But then it became more and more interesting. At times, logic refused to accept what was happening, but the spectacle was fascinating and did not want to stop watching at all. In “New Earth” there is both meaning and morality, but the plot and narrative, here is quite specific and I had a lot of questions, sometimes I noticed holes in the plot, but to understand whether they actually exist, too, failed.
Actors are just as difficult to judge. Sometimes you feel theatrical, sometimes false, sometimes convincing. But this is again my subjective perception. That wasn't true for everyone. Some of the actors were very convincing to me.
Fights are not very well staged, often blows are applied rather slowly, sometimes you can see that they are applied past. However, reprisals against people look very realistic, and therefore there is no special pleasure to look at this.
I didn't like the sound either. On Blu-ray, it was kind of uneven, unnatural. But the moments with music by ear were quite pleasant.
In conclusion, despite all the contradictions and shortcomings, I watched the film with great interest. Predictability was quite small, but the ending is correct and in some ways even kind. And nature is very beautiful.
I want to see the sea so that the algae stink, and salt on the lips
Every day it seems to see ... so let's think, let's understand. Despite the sluggishness of schizophrenia, there is an opinion that in places not so remote, in fact, one can find much more order and organization, or even truth, in the part of those simple things that give black and white, bad or very bad, where there is punishment behind the offense, and behind the force and word, respect and a certain justice ... than in the normal environment, which we are so accustomed to see every day, and where the feelings of lies, malice and greed, and all that much of life that exposes the essence of a reasonable person are so skillfully intertwined and justified.
And here he is, not so poorly represented, that simulated world with not his most false projection, and a smile, from Ingeborg Martha Dapkunaite, in the extreme of course, the method of developing a situation, a game (so he can even better understand it). What it looks like is aggression in a condensed version of evolution, deliberately shown here over-the-counter (and let them tell you who doesn’t (just look out the TV window). And where, she leads people so different, and always divided, on some basis, into some caste, in their constant struggle of characters, abilities, mentalities and aspirations, to life values. And the manifestation of what qualities is minutely determining, in order to stay alive and not go mad ... and that in general, drives the escape from society of a dangerous person.
There was also a phrase: "No matter how long you live, life will always be small." Days pass, and we must admit that we are all condemned to the same measure, doomed with hope, faith, the conditions of which are already difficult, to be further complicated by a new project (yesterday’s “new earth”, today’s “new war”), but not by a bad experiment in cinema. And alas, not without someone else’s influence, more like a Western one, and left near the kitchen and bedroom, and fraught as if with new sanctions. But in the main role, where, still our man ... who cannot be understood, cannot be measured.
Learn to love, but if not destined ...
I rarely watch movies or TV shows. I prefer to read books. Only occasionally, as a major exception, do I watch movies. I watched New Earth for a long time, since then I have watched a lot and for a long time could not understand what is so in this film that I, despising almost all world cinema, irresistibly drawn to watch this film again and again? It is clear that the main idea of the film is this: regardless of the circumstances, always remain a person. But it's too easy. In addition to it, the films feature many different subtexts, be it interethnic conflicts, the problem of the judicial system and lynchings (remembers the sad case of Ossetian Vitaly Kaloev), reasoning about heaven and hell, and much more.
So, relatively recently, I watched this film again: I was looking for that cherished meaning, putting together small disparate facts. Here's what I did:
Part one. Long voyage.
The ship, painted in the Russian flag, with many people on board, sails to Novaya Zemlya. People are mostly prisoners and guards, respectively. Neither professors, nor philosophers, nor poet-writers are ordinary people who find themselves in a difficult situation. Mostly Russians, although there is a group of Chechens/Dagestanis, a couple of other Caucasians, Tatar, Estonian (vile face), Yakut and all. So this situation strongly reminded me of 1917, when "an unnamed ship went on a long voyage." Through the efforts of the Bolsheviks, the first people of Russia, whether intellectuals or Cossacks, were massacred and expelled. Now, this beheaded people, without a national leader, is sailing to a disastrous (or not fatal?) distance. The Russians who remain are scattered. On the contrary, the Trans-Asians are united along national and religious lines, they have a strong tribal thinking. Overseers periodically appear, although they do not care much about the fate of prisoners. It seems to me that it would be easier for them to drown all the prisoners somewhere in the middle of the ocean, so that the trouble was less than taking them somewhere else.
And here they are on the New Earth waiting for doubtful freedom. Short preparation... And now the Russians are running after her, pushing and trampling each other! Only the main Hero, along with the sailor, stand at a distance and gloomyly look at everything. Behind the same strong system are the front Asians, proving the strength of their tribal thinking. What's the result? They scattered the Russians and gained control of the situation. But that control was fleeting. The Russians did not tolerate it for long and killed all the Chechens and Dagestanis. This, by the way, can be projected on the current situation of the Western Asians in Russia. The aggressor will not last forever. But this is only the beginning of the film, which means that all their adventures in our homeland are a trifle of history. The main thing is ahead!
Part two. The last one is dead!
When they got rid of the intrusive aggressor, the question immediately arose, how to proceed? What is the hierarchy of the islanders? But they did not doubt for a long time - a hefty deskin subordinated to his will all to one, calling for order. The order was simple truth, where the strongest survive. Order is a good thing, of course. But wait! This truth is relevant only for some tribes of Africa and the islands of New Guinea. Our ancestors went through this stage tens of thousands of years ago, when the spirit and language of the white man was formed.
Anticipating all this ugliness, our Hero leaves society in order not to fall into the abyss that their current leader promises the islanders. With everything he needed, he went to find a better place to live.
But people didn't survive alone. You need some kind of community for that. And even a young psycho who escaped from the camp could not radically change the situation. The time has come to choose whether to accept death from hunger and cold, or to re-enter society. Hero and partner chose the second option.
Society accepted them without calculating the possible consequences. And the result of finding the hero in society was a riot. And the ideology of rebellion was in the mind even before the return of the hermit, but there was no tip of thought, the leader. This is an EXTREMELY important event in the film, and it’s a fundamental fact to know in order to “raise” the Russian people. We need a leader, and a leader from the people, accepted by the people, and proclaimed by the people. By the way, the masters of Russia do not understand this, otherwise they would not put their clowns at the head of us and in all oppositions. The people need a leader, and not like Hitler, who, like Ovechkin’s mother, throws her children to the slaughter, but who will be soul and body for the people’s idea. And the main hero becomes that.
Rebellion occurs transiently – the leader-child was killed by a Tatar, to whom the imaginary reins of power passed. Imaginary – because the rebellion itself was calculated to change the ideology, and if you change it too sharply – the people may not understand. Another fact is that during the riot, a Buryat was killed, who a little earlier saved the Hero, thereby serving as the main idea. Well, the loud Estonian, who was at the court of both Chechens and cannibals, was not at all confused, but rather ran away to be alone with his conscience.
Now the rebellion has taken place, and a new era is on the horizon. You don’t have to eat your own people anymore. The new ideology is aimed only at creation.
People have had a tremendous emotional uplift. Even the feeling of hunger faded in the background of this rise. At that point, all the islanders reminded me of the Utopians of Wells. Of course, these were not “men like gods,” but the contrast between the old and the new world was very strong. And only things began to get better, as a new attack fell on people.
Part three. Infinity.
One people, under the leadership of its leader, stands on the shore. They are driven by a motley American mass. At the head of that mass was a large Negro. It is clear that the two leaders did not succeed in any constructive way – the ideologies of White and Black were too different. As a result, a fight ensued, in which a Tatar, an Estonian, and a Caucasian fought for the Russian idea, against the American enemy. Heroically killed the Estonian, buying time for his wounded leader. The Estonian was strangled by a ferocious Anglo-Saxon. The sailor died with his dreams of endless water. Many people died, and the rest, almost all, was finished by the “guard”, personifying the rats from the picture. Only four survived. And they were finally led. There is only one hero left, representing the faith of a great people.
What have I done? I gave him water before I died - I did a good deed, now I will not be taken to hell.
So, I will not explain the story, the basis is in the abstract. I'll get straight to the impressions. Like many others, the film made me feel twofold. But "the eye wasn't answerable." And not because I like black, tin, blood, etc. Here in the hypnotic effect, most of all, the director, actors, cameraman are to blame!
So, first of all, the footage is amazing, the views are wonderful. There is a strong impression that “this place” where the main events take place, and is really the edge of the earth and a forgotten place by God.
Second, the story. The beginning reminded me of the movie “Air Prison”. But just the beginning. I didn’t notice any special blunders in the script. Someone asked why the main character to go away from the barracks to the mountains. I understand - he foresaw lawlessness and "rat races", so he expected to survive alone. Why didn’t the film highlight the formation and alignment of forces in the camp? And here it is clear, not the main thing how (why teach this to our society, but we have already muzzled this topic more than once), the main thing is what people are capable of. And how can they change in the face of death and danger? For example, one of the unpleasant heroes of Makhov (played by Sergey Koltakov), becoming another prey, in the face of death for the first time felt not just fear, but horror from “inhumanity”. "People! Are there any people among you? Seems banal? Maybe, but again, great acting and the episode is already "watching."
There may also be questions, like, why fly by plane before the ship left, and where to fly, etc. It was clear to me that finding an airplane was hope, and flying symbolized death. They didn't go anywhere... Except in the sky. This technique is sometimes found, for example, in the film “Promised Land” – escape on a steam locomotive.
You can find some mistakes in the script. But significant mistakes, given the genre, do not want to look.
Meaning. I don't know if I saw the point, if I got it right, but my conclusion is that everyone, almost without exception, has their own families, weaknesses, friends, destiny. Whatever you are in a “normal” life, life behind bars crosses everything, starts from scratch. I do not want to justify in any case maniacs and murderers, I will say that such a place can be purgatory in order to reconsider their views, to deserve forgiveness or vice versa. Maybe it doesn't make sense.
To some people, this film may seem like an implausible caricature. But my impression of this film today is a significantly new level of domestic cinema, an original plot.
I'll give the film a solid 8. One ball was removed after all for inconsequential blunders and for immoral hardcore (Maybe unfair?). That's my opinion. One ball is removed, because ten - only for masterpieces.
I didn’t want to write a review of this film for a long time. I have always made excuses for myself. But, nevertheless, could not resist trying to change the rating of positive-negative reviews in the direction of still green (well, or at least you make it your little contribution).
Plot.
The plot of the film is simple... Yes, complex plot twists in such a genre are not necessary. They'd just ruin the picture. In the near future, humanity is suffering from overpopulation. Well, prisons for all, of course, not enough (quite logical consequence). The question then arises: what to do with the crowds of antisocial elements? Let go? Suppose... What about maniacs, cannibals, and other evil spirits? Kill? You can't. Not humanely... Then, they decided to gather all these maniacs (solely by their own consent) together, and send them somewhere away from people’s eyes. And unloaded them all on Novaya Zemlya (an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean between the Barents and Kara Seas), leaving everything necessary. This is where all the raspberries begin...
Actor-Characters.
The main character of the film is the character of Konstantin Lavronenko, who shot the airport controllers responsible for the death of his wife. A kind of sufferer. One of the only characters in the film that can evoke any sympathy. His name is Ivan Georgievich Zhilin.
Nikolai "Sipa" I do not remember the name. A colorful character obsessed with the idea of a “Third Precinct”, which is being built in the afterlife (Paradise and Hell have long been crowded...). Andrey Feskov played this maniac who unwound human intestines in order to check whether biology textbooks for the sixth grade lie. My applause! Without this guy, the film would have turned out to be the most ordinary fantastic action movie with a background in philosophy, and so on.
Well, the rest of the characters, although not indirect in the full sense of the word, but still can be omitted.
Idea.
You could write about it in the story, but the point is so very large.
The film shows us how easy it is to lose everything human and how important it is to preserve it. And also what a person is willing to do for survival.
Output.
Awesome movie! He is very strong, colorful, and quite cruel. And also, it clearly traces some philosophical thoughts, to formulate which I do not have enough vocabulary (well, I can not explain what it is so attractive!).
PS. And, in my opinion, the cruelty in this film is not superfluous, because the basic idea requires it. Without hardness, it would not be possible to feel everything the authors wanted. They Well done!
