Action, blood, dismemberment, soldier's humor, profanity (harmonic in the voice of the cube in the cube), fantasy without limitations, but not fiction, complete and some kind of childish anti-science, cardboard characters despite attempts to realistic. But that's why it's funny and fun. The superheroes and all sorts of X-men got it. After Game of Thrones, you can hardly put any series above 4. There is also a fantasy without boundaries, but at least the behavior of people seems real. If we consider this series a parody comedy with a very self-critical attitude towards American society with its characteristic vices, then everything is not bad.
Perhaps this is surprising, but in recent years it has become something incredibly difficult to imagine such a project as the series “Boys”, because to please the new Western trends, something like this simply should not have been born. But to the surprise of many, the series shot, and not just fired, but fired literally from all the guns, and in general it turned out to be a really entertaining and extremely worthy thing. Based on the comics of Garth Ennis and Daric Robertson, the series “Boys” turned out to be the very milestone in the superhero genre that the viewer needed just like air. After all, just now Disney finally strangled the viewer of its cinematic universe Marvel, which turned into a chicken coop with some mediocre heroes and dull stories, and the DC cinema universe and worse, for 10 years already can not get out of the crisis, in connection with which, had to attract James Gunn, who is also unlikely to be the most necessary panacea for all misfortunes. And so the TV series “Boys”, like the daring William Butcher, just from all scale flies on TV screens and tramples on all these sweet stories about superheroes that have been released in recent years.
What if you were ever told that Superman wasn’t really that kind and fair and off-screen, he was quite capable of tearing off even a little girl’s head? What if Wonder Woman was a popularity-driven lesbian, and Batman was a silent killer who dealt with criminals only lethally? That’s all these wonderful questions and answers the series “Boys”. In the world of "Boys," many overly idealize superheroes, or superheroes, as they are called here. But in fact, supers are exactly the same people, with their own desires, vices and even unstable psyche. But they have in fact unimaginable power, which they are happy to use for their own selfish purposes and literally harm everyone around. In this regard, there is a group of people who do not agree with this state of affairs and they are ready to fight supers, as well as with an incredibly powerful corporation that oversees the activities of these superhumans.
After three seasons, it is probably difficult to imagine the series "Boys" without blood, mat and some sexual subtext literally here and there, and even not too adequate, because the showrunners of the project are definitely to the fullest and do it with great pleasure, literally savoring every frankly reckless episode of the TV project. In addition, the creators managed to attract a huge number of talented actors to the shootings in the “Boys”, who seemed to always be flashing somewhere in the background in television series and films, but specifically here they were given to turn around in full, and it seems that they managed to open the viewer literally anew. Take the same Carl Urban or Anthony Starr, and their performances are almost the best in their entire career in “Boys”. Episodes with the same Starr have already been spread all over the Internet for quotes and memes, which indicates one of the most accurate hits on the audience. The atmosphere, the color of the project, the presentation of material, here literally everything is at the highest level, which makes "Boys" one of the top TV projects not even recently, but the last probably ten years.
The series “Boys” is a kind of outlet for those who are already fed up with literally the entire superhero genre over the past twenty years and just want something completely new, to look at such characters from a different angle and with a different prism of perception. And you can be sure that the "Boys" will provide this level of perception. Perhaps this is surprising, but even Kevin Feige and Disney could not stand it, and in a literal sense made a bet on Deadpool and Wolverine, that is, on a project completely different for themselves, with a high age rating, which some five years ago seemed something completely unrealistic. And now this project should help Disney revive the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the ashes. And in many ways, this is the merit of such a TV project as “Boys”, because from part of it it opened the eyes of studio bosses to the fact that viewers are no longer interested in superheroics with pink ponies. They now serve brutal ultraviolence with blood and obscenities, for which even the actors themselves were incredibly ashamed.
9 out of 10
You know, the idea of deconstruction of superheroics has normally kept pace only with the release of the Guardians of Zack Snyder (yes, yes, the one who has one good movie 3 hulking). And it was pretty good, with a real gray moral. There is neither good nor evil, but only cunning scoundrels who achieve their goals. Not an ideal, but a good movie.
In addition to bloodshed and ultraviolence, there were questionable moral messages and even good humor, but everything began for health, and ended as always. That is, the drain of obvious villains and happy ending. Not the Guardians, not at all.
In the series, this could be corrected, but I did not have much hope. And he was able to surprise me. The concept is quite simple - superhumans under the wing of a megacorporation in the edge of the gorezel and they must be punished. But you can't open it, otherwise it'll be dusted. Therefore, the characters follow the path of cunning and secrecy, it is really interesting to watch. Both sides are tough and ready for anything. Suddenly, even the actors are trying, and here they ridicule modern fashion trends, the famous Agenda. The obvious disadvantage of the first season is the fights between superhumans. They had no money, but they were made for some reason. It was a little predictable. And then that's it.
The second season gave a serial classic - the quality of all elements of the film product fell sharply, especially the plot.
What is ' Classic '? The fact is that the series does not have the entire budget at once, it is split and allocated for several episodes at once. There are ratings and views - will give more (may be less, and more), there will be problems - studio tension producer to solve the problem, the audience must always grow or at least not fall. About the seasons I generally remain silent - there is no planning, there is no sense to work on the future. The studio or investors will not be satisfied with something - and the project will be covered, and maybe ' will be transformed ' into another TV series, which cannot be named.
Since the second season, the Boys in the plot has an absolute weapon - blackmail. In Lost, these were shoots followed by fermentations through the jungle. Blackmail works with everyone, not once or twice. Heroes immediately lose their principles and become like jelly. The series makes fun of the agenda, but it also works (!). Principle ' if we are burned, we will be killed' does not work in fact, before the local god you can even dance on your head, he will endure. And there is no risk to life, if you are not a complete scoundrel, then you will survive after anything. Fights superheroes no one removed, now they are even more, but at least jokes about sex with octopuses remained, and it pleases.
Starr and Urban try hard, sometimes they try hard, and you can watch this show for them. Otherwise, there's no hope. Amazon and Netflix do not work differently. The series will go into complete absurdity and permissiveness in the next couple of seasons (for now there are 3), and then will be closed when the viewer realizes that he has nothing to catch here.
I wanted to add that Snyder is not on them, and then I remembered Batman versus Superman. I decided to keep quiet because silence is gold. And the boys are not Guardians.
The Boys as a desire to embody all the thoughts of Scorsese in relation to the hero of Marvel
A brilliant parody of heroic films. Carl Urban, Anthony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Giancarlo Exposito et al. (main cast).
These actors were brilliantly brought to life all the heroes.
The parody was fresh, even with more seasons... managed to keep the novelty.
The relevance of the project in a parody of heroic films. That is, they took the TV series True Blood, Preacher... etc... all this mixed up, added humor, invited good actors, turned out to be a strong series. The script, however, is not always fresh. The project has a style.
Of the minuses, we can immediately note that the series is again built on the fact that there are cool and complex characters, there are third-rate ones.
But these third-rate heroes are poorly played. In the background, they are lost.
The series has many references to all the heroic films. Mostly good. This is for X-Men, different DC, Marvel movies.
The very status of the project was built on doing some rethinking, creating a cinematic universe, as it was with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but with a different bias, complex, bloody, cruel, parody. It's kind of a roast in a modern way.
However, there is a connection with the Guardians of the Galaxy, other series, films, where they try to break the patterns.
Humor in the series sometimes resembles humor ' Man-Molecule', sometimes humor of more serious and dramatic works like the series ' Heirs' where they also parody.
Cinema is a parody of life. In a successful project, different tasks are performed. For example, collect a cashier, entertain, parody, question modern trends, etc.
The Boys clearly has parody references to Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, parodying various scandals.
That’s why The Boys made a visualized comic book with such a high rating. A lot of things have been made. Some episodes look in one breath, but the series itself fits into 8-9 points out of 10, some episodes, scenes on 10 out of 10.
I am delighted, for a long time I did not bring so many positive emotions, but as long as I did not swear when watching. One end of Season 3, what's it worth when everything's been turned upside down and back again, and it's been like that a few times just because... why not? But everything in order.
Quality | The picture is just masterpiece. Cinematography is high. In the moments of transferring us, the audience, to the shooting of films about superheroes, when the picture in the picture looks so beautiful, as if it was 3 avatars shot for 1 billion, just wonderful.
The plot | jumps from a to me and back. It is quite difficult to focus on something, because from one event we are transferred to the second and third. If you watch one episode a week, it may seem like a silly remark, but I watched this series in 3 days completely and see a quick glue, when events jump and I do not have time to understand, and where is everything that was 5 episodes before, why did everything change?
Resonance | The agenda, which is exposed by the series is undeniable, is both false: ' Black Lives Meter' and a lot of other nonsense, which is brainwashed by the young and not so generation, in order to somehow use it. But there is one thing but, the series itself has not gone far, except that in the filing, he does it much more competently and intelligently. With a lot of coverage. No spoilers, everyone will be able to find out about it, if you set the task to understand, I will write about one subpoena, which will spoiler at the very bottom, so that only those who do not mind it can read.
We will never know the true ideas, because all the info field is false, they talk about it in the series itself, but one thing is understandable, the budget of this project is huge, and such finances are not thrown to the wind and, most likely, no one wanted to shoot themselves in the foot. ' So just destroy a business that may belong to your brother, when you are a director, writer or actor - there are few such people, they are most likely monks and you do not see them on the streets. I certainly wouldn’t ruin the reputation of the company of my relatives because they do dirty things, because they don’t choose a family, right? ' (imagine William, as he says with his accent, would sound impressive), in any case, there are always goals, Transformers and NASA, for example.
Everyone decides to become a better version of themselves. First they decide, then they do. Enough time has passed, but they are still the same people as they were before, although it has been a long time. For viewers, it looks like this: Season 1: Episode 1 is weak, Episode 4 is better, Episode 8 is almost macho. Season 2: Episode 1 Weak, Episode 4 Better, Episode 8 Almost Macho In Season 3, the same thing, they didn't make any progress at all. In this regard, we just take as a basis ' Circle of History' Dan Harmon and voila, there is a plot for 8 episodes for the season. And the fact that it will be repeated every season absolutely without changing anything - ' Fuck, they ate the avengers before, so it will eat '
The series is a truffle candy that one will love incredibly much, and the other will become unbearable torture. I will be objective, I like him and I will not like him for many reasons. He shows, rather than telling, as in true detective, what is his gold coin. But it's banal in plot construction, because 'The Circle of History', seriously? you didn't even try to change it.
Evaluation of | series is unique, not without Izyan, but still. I want to recommend it to those who have not seen it before this review, because you can only make your own opinion about it by looking at it yourself.
Spoiler | 1 The contrast between filming moments in Russia and America is simply unimaginable. To show light and darkness on such a seemingly contrast in such and such a series, how can there be propaganda here? It's the least we can do.
2) The question is, maybe someone can tell me where the super-freak from Season 2, Episode 6 about Sage Grove disappeared, I lost it and could not find more in the series, maybe this is a blank for the future, but most likely this is just a character who appeared to just appear, take attention to himself and go into oblivion, as if nothing happened, we just joked.
Season 2 of American boys and boys with superpowers and no, cruel monsters, coming up with a plot not according to the canons of writers: after all, we are all grown up boys and girls, just got tougher with age,
18+
The ways of this movie are inscrutable. She's gone all the way. It seems too sinful, but vividly represents everything human. Last season, there was also a superhero (in fact, the main supervillain), who wanted either a woman all season or conditionally mother to suck her breasts - a kind of overgrown child not matured morally. Here they conditionally crucified Christ, turning Christian religious canons inside out and, as it were, even mockingly (big mystique, as it seems, will still backfire). All the Marvel/DIC canons are crucified here, but actually not. In traditional films about superheroes, too, everything is always cruel and immoral, but it is simply presented in a more positive light, in pink glasses. Immediately, the cruelty of the real world came to the fore, the second simply leaving no place ... solid cruelty, complete cruelty. It is even good that legally managed to add only two seasons online here, and then a new era of cinema came within the framework of the local canon.
Our series has absorbed all the canons of the real world: sexual violence (all the sex scandals of Hollywood here can be seen with the naked eye, everything that caused the long-forgotten MeToo movement in the end), the desire for fame (half the film characters crawl and smile stretched to victory in front of the public), fading fame (the sea of heroes who have gone to waste: life hurts them without honor and applause), the desire to have a family and children (one heroine lived this whole season, was afraid of losing it and literally with the above kind of victory in front of the masses of violence, as well as the need to improve on this life in the beginning of all the American people), the world with the need to improve it (this life with a lot of life in this).
But there's something else. The show is boring. Yeah, he's attractive. He's interesting. But he attracts more graphics, beautiful costumes, characters that look like real people more than superheroes or anything from the movies. He also attracts sin, without offense, but it is sinners, although Christians too (and what Christian does not love sin, since even the first apostles sinned a lot in their time, only Jesus did not sin). But this is all carnal, adds interest to each viewer. The plot just does not ... in the sense that it is conditional, not outstanding. If everything else is removed from the series, then the series is boring ... it simply does not exist, as, indeed, any modern series, and perhaps all series. After all, they are almost focused on carnal pleasures-entertainment. They don't have a story. There, the plot is akin to the same plot that we see, riding a roller coaster (big movie) or a carousel (a small movie, serial) - we just cause a different range of emotions - a kind of movie drug that causes many dependence from the first film dose. So many film addicts divorced today: only and scour the Internet in search of a new dose, a new unknown and rich V-substance, exciting, saturated with unexplored film fiction on various extravagant topics. No one can conquer such dependence except Christ.
One time in the new millennium, the world sat on a children's wizard, then on superheroes of traditional or metal, then on ordinary superheroes struggling with the walking dead or vampires ... then fought drug trafficking ... now everything is mixed up, the cinema is trying to somehow survive in a period incomprehensible and incomprehensible by anyone, and therefore sticks literally everything into one movie bottle, illuminated by something forbidden-colored, for the most part vulgar. Therefore, in our caste often released in circulation actors, popular in the past in a completely different genres, although more often in the general genre of brutal cruelty - under this sauce you can serve any movie dish, any topic, cruelty will interrupt any other taste and taste, even caustic poison for the brain-soul.
Let’s go, ladies and their gentlemen, we are poisoned, gentlemen and their gentlemen ... we already have so much movie poison – it can’t be worse... a sedentary movie dead man is another death not a hindrance to view.

The rest, of course, like the review, is ironic. He implicitly ridicules the negative in the world as his author and his associates see it. To ridicule cruelty with the help of it is also a talent, not everyone knows how to do it, while making cruelty comical, truly comical.
It's just a show. The authors emphasize this. They specifically leave references to the real world, insert even almost cameos of real stars from the world of big cinema, who came out in circulation, but appeared here (Billy Zane and Hailey Joel Osment - both played some movie stars of the third magnitude in the last part). From this, the series looks more realistic, acquires its comic texture. It’s funny, before almost all the famous actors of our series were completely filmed only in serious works (up to a certain time, after succumbing to jesters – more for the sake of money and at least some heating of fame, to bask in the glory of all the hunt, even domestic actors-actresses sin, speaking in dubious humor shows from a certain point in life).
Ideally, there shouldn’t have been a second season. At one time, the author of this series wanted to finish the Supernatural (but the thirst for money of greedy bosses began to flip the plot in that not so long ago ended series, from which the author came out on time, comes out). Immediately remember that our series was originally stillborn - it did not have a plot, but just a desire or idea to show some ironic sketches on a popular topic, which were fastened together (apparently, a whole bunch of writers / directors - now there are more than three dozen people on the list, but there are already more series that are not available here, and the series itself is no longer available here for purchase, which, given everything described in the review, is bad and good - bad, since film fans will not see it legally, good, because those who are only used to legally will not be able to their own).
We need to finish with Western movies, with any to write the wrong provoking. You need a filter right in the online cinema to reduce forever the recommended film by country, perhaps screening out to do by year, partly by genres and age categories. So you can really improve the recommendations, if the initial parameters will be set by a user who, although he does not know himself completely, but clearly better than a computer generator.
How are we used to seeing comic book superheroes? By their very existence, they give Americans a sense of security that an uncle in a suit is about to come and save everyone. But what if superheroes really existed? How do they adapt to the rotten society we live in? And who will they become? After all, these are just people, even with superpowers.
From the first series, the series will shower your expectations with stale ice water, hit the stereotypes of moldy superheroics with a sledgehammer, light a fire of indignation, add a spoonful of tar to the barrel of honey of stereotypes of thinking, roast a giant rotten fish of the same type of stories about mutants, to which we have managed to get used.
Baring the nerve of the lying American show business, where under the guise of righteousness hide the vile bastards to whom the law is not written. Agree, no one expected this. It's just brilliant and brave. And yes, any pompous scumbag will have another tough kid, 'cause, you know, a wedge kicks out.
The series shows how dangerous superhumans can be to society. For decades, Americans (and the rest of the world) have been hammered into the worship and veneration of superhumans, while in vain attempts to create such mutants in their secret biolaboratories. But superhumans can pose a real danger, because mentally, spiritually they are only people, and a great power imposes great responsibility only in the comics about Spider-Man.
This is a rare series in which the characters from which you can fool. This is the rare series, where the villains are shown as maximally subsurface and natural. Most people have never thought about what kind of a mess would happen if superheroes suddenly appeared in our rotten society. In addition, the series shows the process of personality deformation, becoming a narcissistic type psychopath, and various other behavioral deviations. Abuse as a way to achieve goals, fear as a method of control – all this, one way or another, is inherent in corporate life inside glass skyscrapers and beyond. When behind the tinsel of patriotism lies the dirty truth about blood money and glory built on the turtles and bones of the innocent.
Do you know what other thoughts I had when I started the second season? According to the Bible, in the distant past, the Gods descended from heaven, Nephilim, copulated with mere mortal girls, and they were born children of a demigod, and what a trench then began, because vanity and pride are always inherent in those who consider themselves an “exceptional race”, and this is the case.
I don't know about you, but for me, the show was pretty tough. Heroes are always in the ass, at the bottom, persecuted by everyone and so on. Oh, yeah... it’s a rare show where CIA agents are generally the “good guys.” In general, all characters, images of heroes are powerful, even secondary. Abuse - various kinds of psychological violence - in the series over the edge. Perversions and vulgar humor - in bulk. There is no drag, a clear plot, after all the shit about superheroes that we were fed for so many years - what the doctor prescribed. You look and play. The translation from several studios is, as always, great. Added to my list of the best series, in the first lines. Oh yes, the cherry on the cake is Jensen Ackles (star of the series “Supernatural”) as the Soldier.
10 out of 10
The great series This is the feeling after watching season 3. In 'Boys' behind layers of thrash, irony and ultraviolence hide such deep human stories and non-standard for modern American TV series socio-political messages. To begin with, the Boys are a critique of modern (primarily Western) society. It shows corporations that, with the help of money, can control almost everyone, politicians, public opinion (through the media), and their own employees. Very funny and witty (and a little sad) shows how corporations use important topics for American society (for example, the fight against racism) to raise their ratings, while being absolutely indifferent to them. Also here ridicule all the standard stamps from the superhero films DS and Marvel. And it's very funny every time. Superheroes who don't care about people who only care about their ratings. Parodies of specific characters (what is underwater, the analogue of Aquaman, who experiences a sexual attraction to octopuses). All this shows that the superhero genre is alive and still has a lot to show us. But that's not even the most important thing about the Boys. It's a drama about family relationships. About the traumas of people who had tough parents (or none at all), and how it affected their entire lives, leaving deep wounds. Homelander (the main villain in this story) is built around the fact that he had no parents, and now he is in dire need of love and recognition. And Butcher (one of the protagonists) is afraid to become the same as his cruel father, but due to circumstances becomes more and more like him. Great acting adds 100 points to each dialogue and interaction of the characters. The way Anthony Starr plays Homelander, it’s the best acting I’ve seen in TV shows. To convey such a spectrum of emotions and experiences with the help of eyes, mouth movements and facial muscles, this is some extreme level. It is a great merit of the Boys that all the main characters in it are very well written and cause sympathy. Almost every dramatic scene in season 3 brought me to tears, it is interesting to watch the path of all the characters. There’s another topic that has touched me personally this season. It is a matter of fighting good against evil. Can good defeat evil by using only “good methods” and remaining good? Is it possible to compete with an enemy who is unconstrained when you yourself are constrained by morality and law? You will not get an answer to this question. Boys are a breath of fresh air, which drives into longing and inspires hope, laughs and makes you cry. One of the best projects on television in recent years. I'm looking forward to season 4. 9 out of 10 Original
The third season saw the Soldier. And it seemed to me that the Americans had come to their senses and were slowly moving forward with traditional values. Soldier really, I would say 'sovkov'. And besides, the very spontaneity, unlike solid masks on all faces.
With supers everything is clear, they are on a salary, constantly gnawing under the carpet, plus a sold childhood, how here you can not go crazy.
And here' ours' why the team masks? Butch is constantly in the role of macho or father of nations. There's always no face on MM because it's ugly, but it has to. I'm high, but killing isn't good, so I'm ashamed. Kemiko has a split. Hugh always has no face, even when he talks about love, his sausage.
Yes, the only one who could at least occasionally rest his eyes - Ani, America's favorite. Erin was just lucky with the role - although sometimes her character says the same thing that she thinks.
So, hearing the Soldier, it was almost easy for me until the last episode of season 3, despite the constant scrolling of minced meat.
But it wasn't. Break down the oldpers and rejoice rainbow lovers of gerogasms!
The soldier, who all season, even when high, thought sanely, and reacted adequately, in the last scene begins to carry some indistinct blizzard, breaks the word, short merges into a push, as Butch would say.
And everyone should finish the Swabian smile on the face of the boy in the final.
A very cool series, definitely watch everyone who is tired of mimic Marvel and proper DC, it's just a break of emotions! Plus surprised season 3, I thought they would not pull such a bar, but no, it became even tougher and more interesting! A nice bonus sound from Jane Ayre, which I listened to in high school.
Guys are guys! What is the phenomenon of the series "Boys"?
The era of superhero cinema has a perfect picture with its inherent infantileity, with a pattern of confrontation between the forces of good and evil, and, quite a battle plot and heroes (similar to classical fairy tales). The abundance of similar films of this genre gradually leads to a crisis of the genre.
So why did the series “The Boys” become so popular among viewers?
As for the series “Boys”, it is a fresh breath of air and makes you think about the future of the entire genre of superhero cinema.
The Boys is a brutal, daring and daring series from Amazon prime video, featuring a brutal world ruled by Vought-International, served by the most influential and powerful group of superheroes called the Seven. These superheroes, feeling their impunity, create lawlessness under the cover of a corporation.
Filmed by Eric Kripke - the author of another series "Supernatural". This series is based on the comic book of the same name, created in 2008. His extensive experience allowed to create a high-quality project with an interesting fascinating plot.
It is worth noting that all the actors played at the highest level, and the main characters Carl Urban in the role of “Butcher” and Anthony Stark in the role of “Homelander” revived the heroes of the comics and breathed life into them, showing the versatility of the characters.
Such a project as “Boys” is the apogee of the entire anti-hero genre, rethinking and possibly the beginning of the emergence of a new trend in the film industry. The quality of the project sets a new bar for others.
I sat down to watch the Boys after the sensational season 3. It's weird that I didn't start watching them sooner because I love superheroes and all sorts of reimaginings. But lately, I'm basically tight with TV shows and I watch all of them with a long delay. But better late than never, especially when it comes to fitness like Guys.
It seems that the theme of the banter over superheroics and in particular the concept of evil Superman has long been trampled along and across, but the Boys manage to go even further. It's a searing mix of Guardians, Dumpsters and South Park. The author of the original comics is Garth Ennis, who has no less sharp on ridicule ' Preacher' (in which, by the way, there is also a good series for season 3), the creation of the film adaptation is engaged in my favorite pair of Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (who here noticeably flashes in cameo), and the cast is completely unexpected gold.
Actors are a really strong part of this series: brutal Carl Urban, who seems to have spent his entire career in this image. Giancarlo Esposito, although he plays Gus Fring again from All Heavy, does it still amazing; Jensen Axles, who lifted the curse of the Supernatural, took all season 3; well, the main personage of this show is Anthony Starr (ironic similarity of the name with Tony Stark) in the image to the madness of a frightening Homelander!
Patriot is the best version of evil Superman and one of the most interesting superhero antagonists in general. This is what most people would be if they had superpowers. And its depth, elaboration and psychilogism is the pinnacle of dramaturgy in this genre. We must try to register and play the character so that he inspires pity, hatred, and fear in almost every scene.
Boys is one of the most realistic and believable works in superheroics. I think that's how the super world would be. And what kind of humor and parodies on DC and Marvel is a separate topic. No one has ever been so hard on mainstream comic book franchises. Here I just applaud standing up - really South Park is about superheroes. And there are good songs often played.
But, of course, not everything is perfect. There are a few downsides. The biggest one is the constant expansion of the series. The main goal of the characters is the destruction of super, and the first season begins so cheerfully, as if they are going to wet the super almost every couple of episodes, and there was a feeling that the series will not last long, but in fact not only that, except for the first super, they have not killed anyone, so also the number of superheroes with each season only grows and does not see the end and edge.
Potentially, this rubber can be pulled for years, adding new antagonists to the season, and leaving the main enemy (Homelander) for later every time. So far, they get away with it with a high level of quality, but if in another season or two nothing moves from the deadlock, I’m afraid the series can quickly slide into another Santa Barbara about superheroes.
There are also typical jambs in the plot like incredible coincidences, impossible survivals of characters and what annoyed me most was the same blackmail technique used by everyone against everyone in almost every episode. In most episodes, there is a scene, and sometimes not one, where one character tells another that he has some information and that if the other does not do something, or, on the contrary, he will leak this information to the Internet. Literally the same pattern over and over again. There are also sagging story arcs of secondary characters, which would be good to take out of the story, but for some reason they continue to show (hello to Deep and Train).
In general, the weakest season is the second - there are the most of these disadvantages. In the first, by the way, I did not like the color correction - it was like it was taken from a low-budget film of the end of zero: everything is yellow and green and constantly darkened. Personally, I cut my eyes to watch more than one series in a row. Fortunately, it was later fixed. The best season so far is the third one – it’s just a big one! I am very much looking forward to the fourth and I hope that the bar will not be lowered and that the series will not last more than 5-6 seasons. It's important to stop in time. In the meantime, this is definitely the opening of the year for me.
The next season of the top series about the anti-hero universe was again good.
Now the authors literally pull skeletons and demons from the past and finally find a worthy opponent Homelenler. Immediately, Butcher’s team of killer superheroes goes to a new level, as we were hinted at in the trailers. The antihero theme is squared, which will naturally be accompanied by even more cruelty and bloodshed.
Probably, due to the development of the direction with new heroes and opportunities, the internal social component is somewhat reduced, which definitely benefits the general dynamics. However, social satire remains the same.
The authors add some experiments of the plot form, for example, including a musical and animation, which in my opinion sometimes looks somewhat far-fetched, but on the other hand, the desire to go beyond some limits (it is clear that without going beyond the framework of common pop templates), probably only for the benefit.
But in general, everything happens in the usual cliché, showing all the weaknesses and vices of people who remain so, even if they are prefixed ' Super'.
Great season and looking forward to the next one.
The most provocative, funny series about the current Western agenda
Boys is one of the best TV shows on Kinopoisk. It's such an acutely social satire on American society in the spirit of South Park with only superheroes in the first roles. You don’t have to be immersed in Wonder Woman or Aquaman stories to find obvious similarities and references. You can ignore it at all if you want, although fans of comics will be interested. The main pleasure is that every relevant social agenda for the modern day is ridiculed.
For example,
Ecology - one of the characters knows how to talk to fish, but he is a flawed scumbag with superpowers, which is why any of his initiatives to save marine life ends in failure.
The world of show business - a mother raises her daughter for the sake of success in a talent contest. Only in addition to sports, singing and dancing, the daughter adds the need to assert herself among superheroes. And to satisfy the parental vanity, the girl-girl is forced to step over herself and agree to all sorts of meanness, including sexual nature.
Religion is one of the characteristic images of Protestant priests, where a democratic, simple and sincere preacher, who ostentatiously seeks to embrace all people, preaches a sermon, but in which he does not actually believe and in fact turns out to be a cynical, perverted, low nature.
To create gender and sexual diversity among a team of superheroes, the corporation publicly exposes the personal life of one heroine who doesn't really want it. Regardless of her desire, the public at the peak of fashion should receive an LGBT signal, no matter how artificial or imposed. Reaching and interacting with the target audience is what matters, not the personal life of an individual.
But the brightest thing in the series is politics. Of course, there is much that is clear only to the American viewer because of their specific political culture. For the Russian viewer, all this division into Republicans and Democrats, their differences in rhetoric, the traditions of voting in individual states are difficult to perceive or not paid attention to at all, the good is there is something to see and in addition.
For the domestic viewer, there may not be obvious allusions to Donald Trump when the superhero Patriot speaks, and the topic of terrorism in the United States is deliberately correlated with the migration agenda due to its recent pre-election relevance.
But even without paying attention to domestic political discourse in America, cinema offers another big topic to think about.
Superheroes in the series have the popularity of world stars and the power of the most powerful politicians. Only they serve not society or the state, but a particular corporation Walt, earn insane money for it and for themselves, without disdaining anything. Superheroes do not count with universal values, nor with human victims and their broken fates. Following corporate morality is a priority, and for the public it is presented as a zealous service to God.
In fact, this is what fascism looks like when superhumans (Ubermensch in German) are united in a team by a rigid corporate culture, aggressively opposed to other organizations, institutions of power, nationalities, society, and even more religiously motivated.
The corporation itself is a major monopoly, and so successful that it is ready to assume the functions of the state. For example, in the field of public safety. For the money, it's over. And for these purposes, the corporation can create and promote more and more new superheroes, blackmail politicians with them or even commit political assassinations.
The series shows how some breaks and hurts from their own power, and others from their helplessness. The most important human values such as love, compassion, the concept of good and evil are driven through the prism of corporate ethics Walt, behind which are the interests of wealthy sponsors. And nothing can be done about it, because there is no strength for it, but there is anger.
The series manages not only to be funny and daring, with unexpected plot twists. He challenges everything that today seems false or unfair. The actions of superheroes and those who oppose them are motivated by current social and political conflicts.
Actors who embody images on the screen perfectly cope with their artistic tasks. Carl Urban and Anthony Starr show their best work. Like other actors.
At the moment on Kinopoisk came 2 seasons of the series from 3. It may seem that the directing in the second season is slightly weaker than in the first, but this is due to the fact that there are more characters and important details in the plot, and you need to monitor what is happening carefully. The bar of the series is consistently high. The heat does not subside, and the plot all the way can shock in a good way.
Separately, it should be noted the translation of Good people on the film search. The voices work wonderfully. Accents and intonations are transmitted as close as possible. Translation 18+ with obscene expressions in the second season for some reason in some episodes softened or even absent, which is surprising. Especially when you consider how cheerful and sharp everything sounds in the first season.
The obscene language of the heroes is an important artistic tool, emphasizing the rebellion of a group of people without superpowers who opposed the master race (who in their expressions did not go far from their opponents).
It is fun and interesting to watch.
In general, the Boys is a bright, provocative, relevant series for the viewer who perceives black humor and is ready through the prism of comic superheroes to see satire on American society.
Everything I love: perverted sex, drugs, booze and murder with special cruelty
In Season 3, it’s all like me again: perverse sex, drugs, booze and brutal murder. In the new season, the authors returned to their roots, less melodrama, more cruelty, neither the boys nor the supers are no longer driven, but act. The only one who doesn't follow the trend is Butcher, he's in a bind and trying to contain his rage. The new Super Soldier fit perfectly into the series, it turned out very charismatic. But because of him, the plot shifted from the confrontation between Homelander and Butcher somewhat to the side. And here in two episodes sounds Russian rap, meaningless and merciless, so that even from him superheroes tower tears. And the finale was happy, a great start for the fourth season.
But imagine that those who say that we are fighting for your freedoms, your security, and are willing to give even their lives to serve a great cause, in fact through one corrupt scoundrel. I am not talking about the current political situation in the world. God be with you. I mean superheroes. We are already used to the clichéd lubricant types that Marvel (and others) delivers to us with frightening regularity in the next superhero gum. But in reality, everything can be quite different... Like in the series The Boys.
The first season of which was released in 2019 on Amazon, and just shows the viewer the inside out of the superhero world. .
An elite squad of superheroes, led by Homelander (Patriot), known as the Seven, stands guard over the security of the star-striped country and the world. The squad is part of Vought International’s massive structure. But its main goal is not world peace, but power. And, of course, a ring coin. As you know, these are the strongest drugs for which people do everything. But if those who are supposed to protect us are more concerned with protecting their own copyrights, the magnitude of the rating and undercover intrigues... And what is most terrible, do not abhor dirty crimes. Who is actually able to protect us? And to protect us will try the so-called Boys, the ideological inspirer and leader of which is William “Butcher” Butcher.
Despite the fact that this confrontation is certainly the main one in the series, it would be wrong to reduce his whole idea to him. Over the course of the three seasons, we will see a complex relationship between a variety of characters, both between and within the opposing groups. The main characters have their own story arches. And the characters of many of them are deeply revealed, so it is very interesting to watch them. That is, it is far from a superhero series, and even in some ways - dramatic. In which there is enough space not only action.
For example, I really liked how the Butcher’s childhood problems are revealed in the third season. There are exceptions, though. The story of French and Kimiko, on the contrary, is not encouraging.
Drama contributes to the excellent performance of actors. I probably wouldn’t be original to say that Anthony Starr’s performance as the Patriot is particularly impressive. And Carl Urban as the Butcher. In the third season, Colby Minifi revealed in a special way.
Someone has already said that the presence in the frame of the Patriot in general shifts all attention in his direction so much that the other characters seem to cease to exist. Anthony Starr so skillfully conveyed the emotions of a complex, disliked child in an adult body that it is simply impossible not to fall in love with his hero. .
It was certainly not without an agenda. What is it? In the series, she climbs from all the cracks. Me Too, Black Lives Matter. At the same time, it seems that in the series all these problems are specifically addressed on the verge of foul. Sometimes you don’t know if it’s serious. The story of BLM is very telling.
- Black lives matter!
- Everyone's lives matter!
- No, black lives are important!
I put the word “no” in brackets because it didn’t exist in the original, but it is meant intonationally. In this dialogue, the problem of skewing the agenda is almost openly read, turning an important problem into a farce.
Throughout the film, the question of impunity given by the power of a superpower arises. It seems that God’s gift suddenly turns a man into a monster. Or a criminal. Or even a pervert. Well, to some extent, of course... Invisible peeps, Depth copulates with octopuses, ant-man ... better not talk about it.
Many of the questions in the film are not so clear to us outside the cultural code. For example, the confrontation of parties in the United States, Trump and his opponents. But how familiar is everything related to social networks, various shows and TV zombies. By the way, in this series echoes the acclaimed Do not look up.
The series famously begins with Huey Campbell remaining holding the torn hands of his girlfriend, who had just stood opposite him. This, of course, gives a normal such hook to look further. But after the second season, there were fears that the third would not be able to maintain the proper level. That wasn't true. Although towards the end of the series suddenly became very similar to the superhero saga, which he parodied. Therefore, the upcoming fourth season again raises fears.
In conclusion, I want to add that the series is based on the comic book of the same name.
And more. Subjective. For some reason, from my entourage, the series does not like anyone from the beautiful half of humanity.
8 out of 10
About what? Why is that? I didn't get it. Where are these ratings coming from? What are you guys doing?
If the facts are:
The plot is predictable and template to horror. Already from the first series, all the main “twists” are guessed.
Stupid, stupid and stupid. Literally in every moment.
Why is everything concentrated in one city? There are superstars all over the country (and probably all over the world?)
Why would the superheroes obey anyone (especially humans)? Why is there only one organization with supers?
And the big question is, how are their abilities even possible? So the world they live in works according to some other laws of physics? Or is it magic? What is this?
Supers have been around, as I understand it, since World War II ~80 years ago, and since then the world in the series has evolved in exactly the same way as ours? No change at all? That is, the creators want to say that the appearance of such people would not affect humanity at all?
The series positions itself as a satire of superheroics, but in fact it tries to ridicule what is good in superheroics. It does not make fun of what is bad.
About satire on society is controversial here, because if it is, it is designed exclusively for America.
It is better not to write about the stupidity of the heroes and their actions at all. Especially since the creators of all the characters in the series are crazy, no matter how super or not. The logic of their actions does not need to be explained.
In the series, a lot of time is devoted to the relationships of the characters. Very. A lot. Literally, each series consists of 80% relationships and 20% action. Starting with season two, I instinctively started rewinding all the scenes where the most cliched dialogue between the characters begins. Stop wasting my time! I came here to watch Homelander halve people with a laser, not Carl Urban snot on his wife.
The only thing that looks good in the series is the dismemberment, the gut brain and all this. But I don't know when people like it. Since when is it normal that you like this? Many pay attention to the agenda, but do not notice something more dangerous. I believe that now there is a very unhealthy trend with this “realism”, and this is by the way one of the reasons why classical cinema is leaving, and all sorts of clipmakers come rogens and other evil things.
There’s a lot to be said about why it’s a bad product, but who needs it? Look at the ratings, people like it and they ask for supplements.
A breath of fresh air and a completely different view of everyone’s favorite superheroes. The dialogue and manner of communication of the Boys resembles the series “Dumpsters”. Sometimes there is a desire to take a pen and just check every phrase of the Butcher (the main character):
- Where have you been?
- I went to the store to update “not your dog’s business.”
The series deals with all the resonating themes in modern society. There is tolerance, and feminism, and politics, the problems of fathers and children, OCD and a bunch of other mental disorders, the trauma of childhood, everyone is constantly triggering something. But the whole dish is served with a delicious sauce of sarcasm and irony.
There's a lot of violence, a lot of 18+ scenes (not the cutest), but that only adds pepper to the series.
Particularly impressive are the main characters and their true friendship. No one climbs on anyone, all the heroes are strong, free. But the moment you're about to fall, you'll be held back and shot dead by anyone who even tried to push.
Here comes out overnight the third season of the series called "Boys" and in the circle of it a lot of hype. Although I had avoided it before, the constant mention from acquaintances fueled my interest. The picture was viewed as soon as possible.
The Butcher (Carl Urban) holds the stamp throughout the narrative, ranging from the inner state to the action. This is a former military officer and FBI employee who completely hates superheroes and hatches a plan to destroy them, or rather a specific subject, and tries to find his missing wife. Brutal appearance, black humor and indescribable cruelty, as well as a New Zealand accent (of course not British) will characterize this character and will fuel the series. Of course, he is still a “muddy”; well, who is not without sin? Butcher (also his name) is just a pleasure to watch, and especially at the turning points of the series.
Huey (Jack Quaid) is the main character for many, but he is not allowed to develop his potential and is often sent to the bench (what only costs the constant braking of his supergirl). A pinched guy from a tech store, installs video and audio surveillance, is afraid to ask for extra pay and sleeps with a girl at his father's house while he goes shopping. Everything is fine with him until a series of events happens and turns everything upside down. Hugh does not have steel muscles, but an inquisitive mind (albeit lagging) and a solution through technological progress.
Patriot (Anthony Starr) is the star of today's show, and he always thinks so. The narcissistic habits of this person are ahead of him, not counting ambitions and inner worries about the past (all the problems are there). The patriot is ready to break down walls, destroy people, to be perceived as a god and very well cope with the task. But there are aspects that I do not understand and you can talk about them for hours.
To whom one can give a few words, it is the Frenchman (Tomer Capon). His appearance in the series is very confused and at first glance it seems that this type will betray everyone. The first idea of a person is often not mistaken, but there was an exception. Serge (another name) is well versed in weapons, and in particular explosive devices, and in this he has no equal, and like any hero has a weak spot - it's drugs. Psychotropic powder was often introduced into the unpredictable troubles of the young Frenchman, moments he wants to stop, but he was never completely cured.
The head of the corporation "Voage" Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) has no extra abilities, but this does not prevent the destruction of people and supers with the click of a finger. Every step of a hero or a person who is somehow connected with Vee's serum is calculated by this great strategist, and if the process gets out of control, he enchantingly turns actions for his own benefit.
The female audience will resent me if I don't mention it in the Soldier review. A brutal superhero created during World War II and fighting Hitler’s henchmen, and participating in other great battles, dies under unknown circumstances. Reminds me of anyone? This is Captain America's protégé if he were in the DC Universe. Past inhuman strength and a steep shield, the Soldier drinks godlessly, smokes sacks and fucks old women (one-year-old probably him). Wildly dissatisfied with the modern world (gay, tight jeans). But one thing that doesn't fit is that this actor doesn't look like a macho. Even the toned shape and bristles smooth it out and the sweet boy from Supernatural opens.
It was this series about superheroes that the world lacked, because everywhere they are decent and save the world. It also shows the true side of these creatures and how the corporation hides the guise of the wolf behind the skin of television cameras and TV shows. Blood accompanied by obscene language, partial nudity and twisted plot justify the age limit of +18. The cast is selected in accordance with the canon (partly), which plays for 85%, and this is not a little important factor in cinematography. There are significant differences with the original source, and similar stories in the comic are more revealed than in the series. Well, this is understandable, not in vain because of the blackness in the print edition, the contract with the DC subsidiary for publication was terminated, but there were other guys who were happy to release in all its glory. Perhaps, if everything had been transferred to the series, it would have been cooler and more meticulous, but looking at the truth in the face and starting from modern society, it would not have come out at all or would have been cut and remade beyond recognition.
Seasons.
1:
It introduces us to the Boys and Seven and their stories. It is bloody, intriguing and exciting, in some places of course stupid, but you watch every episode in vain. The last episodes of the season present drama and food for thought about the future plot.
2:
Sucked from a finger and trying to connect one story to another. A lot of screen time is devoted to non-traditional sexual orientations, female strength and the humiliation of the white normal man.
3:
It's a messy cocktail of negativity, lust and no jokes at all. It is obvious that the story must somehow be brought to a logical conclusion and from the first messages it is clear what will happen in this or that place. To close and open the series in this place is as easy as getting into the back hole of almost any male representative this season.
4:
No data.
Looking from cover to cover, a number of questions arose:
1. Who decided to make the star a key person in the series? Who wrote her lines and actions? Absurd.
2. Only I noticed that the Seven is the prototype of the Justice League, at least outwardly.
Black Noir as Batman
Queen May - Wonder Woman
Express - Flash
Abyss - Aquaman
Invisible, well, in the comic there is an alien - Martian
Is there a star or a black canary?
3. Why does a patriot make such decisions?
4. The express is constantly licking the lips, for what purpose? Can I buy him a balm?
5. Lots of other questions.
I recommend everyone to read the printed version of the book. Thanks.
The third season is an exemplary work on mistakes.
I was wary of the new series: after the disastrous second season, I did not want to start watching at all. However, the creators pretended that there was no "Santa-barbarbarism" with inexplicable pathos and returned to the roots - to the harsh ridicule of the consumer society. But this time the absurdity of what is happening and the uncontrolled amount of fake blood and intestines has a strong dramatic basis - the conflict of fathers and children.
Confused like a child, society is not used to solving problems on its own. With the naïveté of the infant, people see the savior in the one they have been appointed “from above”: the oppressive, disliked, unpredictable Homelander – in short, the greatest antagonist in history.
“Caring” about the Americans, the main superhero of the country Patriot (I recommend dubbing NewStudio) at the same time dreams of approval of others, and of demonstrating his own superiority, and therefore gradually turns into an ugly copy of his father. Butcher, on the other hand, tries not to copy the image of a despotic parent. The secondary characters also have enough complexes from childhood. So, we finally have living people with their vulnerabilities, feelings, troubles.
The merged finale, alas, did not advance the plot, but because of the qualitative disclosure of the characters, I want to forgive everything.
1) The series is plot beautiful, as Begbeder wrote & #39; even the most favorite candy can be saturated & #39; and so it happened with comic books. They just outlived themselves, they will not give us anything new (for the most part, they gave us only a beautiful trilogy of Nolan and Joker Phillips), and the high ratings of superhero films are due to the ratings of fans who apparently do not care whether there is at least some plot or not, the main thing is that someone’s face is lit up or there was a reference to someone who once did something with someone and ' Aquaman sucks'! And here comes the series ' Boys' like a cold shower in the summer heat, it gives such pleasure that once gave ' Guardians';
(2) Characters. Most of the characters fit perfectly into the changed realities of showrunners like Queen Maeve, her character softened. Huey, who in the comics was Scotsman and rather more Simonopegov, and here is a typical American lean guy without an accent and for some reason without a mother, the reason for this change remains unclear to me. Pretty much changed Black Noir, there are no characters Jack, Stillwell and Bradley, but they were well replaced and therefore a huge plus to the creators of the series.
But what I missed was Legends, Wanky Rises and Monkeys.
(3) Acting. Patriot in the series causes sympathy sometimes that in the comics is completely absent except for one moment and it is purely the merit of the writers and the actor who played it. And the second actor whose play did not leave me indifferent is the depth, there are no words only emotions.
(4) Painting. How nice it is to look at realistic, down-to-earth colors, Marvel taught us that the painting must be bright, and D.C. that the painting must be so dark that nothing can be seen. The boys did what they wanted.
At the end of the series ' Guys' it is a breath of fresh air, which is perfectly matched in dosage (yet).
Initially, after watching the series, I put 9 out of 10, but after reading the comic I changed the score to 8, just read the source, if the series is a cold shower, then the comic is a shower with hail.
Acquaintance with this series at one time was a kind of for me & #39; fresh air & #39; in the industry. When media giants of modernity ' spice ' literally every product with a handful of propaganda of progressive pro-LGBT, pro-fem, pro-n*** ideas to the detriment of any artistic value of this very product, ' Boys ' break the patterns of any mannerism (authors do not hesitate to turn the scene into a blood bath or / and lustful sabbath) and political correctness. Many will disagree about the latter, but an explanation will be given later.
The showrunner of the project made his name on the famous TV series 'Supernatural'. It was the first series in my not long life. In fact, I can call it a landmark for myself. It is the first five seasons under the patronage of Eric you can safely watch, while after his departure, the series rapidly for literally one season slid into the abyss. Devoted fans often say that 'Supernatural' it is mostly a light comedy. And it is his comedic potential fully used by Kripke in the creation 'Boys'. Light humorous techniques (which, surprise, work) give the series spiciness without going into the hyperbolic absurdity, which Marvel indiscriminately includes in every film of recent years.
The project presents a realistic world with superheroes. Ask yourself, would superheroes really want to save the world if they were in our world? The creators of the series believe that the answer is obvious. Superpowers can go to any person, whether he is stupid, hypocritical, or proud - all this is irrelevant to the gift of fate. And of course, the absolute majority uses inhuman opportunities for selfish purposes. So in this fictional universe, superheroes look exclusively at their popularity. Translated into more understandable language, these are the stars of show business. They go to night shows, star in superhero movies about themselves. Putting it all together, 'Boys' it's all satire on show business and, more importantly, on modern society.
Now let’s talk about the political correctness mentioned earlier. When watching the first season, we can say with some small assumptions that there is practically no such thing. People of color can be bad, female characters can be bad, gay people can be bad. Yes, there may be a slight bias towards white cisgender men. But it still seems insignificant.
However, with each season, the number of “iridescence” and “iridescence” is growing significantly. It would seem that you are directly talking about BLM, inclusiveness and the righteousness of democracy. But this is only with a superficial assessment. If you stretch the gyrus even a little, everything becomes more complicated. The way the agenda is shown does not put it in the best light. Adherents of inclusivity and their motivations look absurd; white elitists, although not in the best light, look tolerable against the background of left-liberal ideas. I believe that the creators have put a "double bottom" of "39" into the satirical basis of the confrontation between right-republican and left-democratic social ideas. So the left is content with a clumsy justification of inclusivity, and the right, looking at this clumsiness, finds these leftist ideas ridiculous. Thus, in my subjective opinion, the authors have achieved recognition in every social stratum.
Separately about the cast. Almost all shows are done by two actors - Anthony Starr and Carl Urban.
Both actors play ambiguous charismatic characters. Homelander and Butcher are not strictly bad or morally good. I want to tell you more about Anthony Starr. His play of literally universal scope is amazing. The spectrum of truly lively emotions makes me squeal metaphorically with delight. It is simply impossible to describe in words, only looking at it yourself you can understand the greatness of the tandem of this actor and his character.
A lot of people were talking about the boys around me. I was so excited that I thought, “That’s probably a good sign!” More than one positive review seemed a reason to taste season 3. And of course, I made a classic mistake. If you hear about the premiere of each iron in the media – it’s long been only an indicator of advertising budget, not quality. Well, if it is added that the premiere is equally enthusiastically discussed by completely different people – this is a disaster. This is probably a time killer.
The formula of the Boys is extremely simple: a “different” view of superheroics + we will comically and pretentiously highlight human vices and add satire on modern realities. That sounds pretty good, because projects like this are on the fingers. And if you also enter the filter "successful" - then I, perhaps, the first or second season of Misfits recalls. That's just pretty high-tech on the project, Amazon decides to cut down money and not steam. Why do you sell what you sell?
The problem is that it’s just incredibly lazy. The plot is moved exclusively by “secret documents from under the carpet” (try to count how many of them appear in one (!) series). The cherry on the cake is the ease with which heroes solve problems of mind-blowing complexity. Is it stupid to take a superhero seriously? It would be, but when the development of the plot is based on a constant increase in rates, and since ten “heaviest” situations were solved at the click of your fingers – it is simply impossible to get carried away.
Deconstruction has long been a derided exhibition. Satire and gags are twisted to the maximum, but are rarely a ridiculous provocation for the sake of provocation. I realized in the first season that Underwater loved CGI octopuses. Stop, please! Well, let's be honest: an adaptation of the toothless comic next to the original. And the contrast between the puritanical bed scenes and the bloody violence clearly highlights that Amazon goes far only where it 100% rolls.
Marvel Category B.
Due to the popularity of the series, I decided to watch it.
Brief conclusions and impressions:
1. Not a single positive hero or even just a normal person. Not one!!
Western agendas are simply being imposed in full force, there is no dictatorship and ideology, freedom and democracy flourish. So eat what you get. Normality is no longer trendy and even condemned.
All characters have mental disabilities, to varying degrees. This is not surprising in the United States, where psychiatric hospitals are paid. What kind of psycho would pay to be held in a mental hospital? There they are, and it's all on the streets. And those who haven't become psychos are all sitting tight on antidepressants. But for me, living in Russia, it all looks wild and abnormal.
2. All men are weak and suffering whiners. Even those with superpowers.
3. The series pretends to be original, but it is full of stupid clichés and American templates.
4. All who are not like us, all who think differently, must be destroyed. This idea goes in the background throughout the series for all the characters. They all have one template for action when meeting people who are not like them. It is the enemy, it must be destroyed. This may surprise some people, because democracy and freedom exist in the United States. But that is the basis of Western values. All are divided into strata, categories, statuses, and each other’s mortal enemies. Black people are only important to black people. Everything else is a lie.
5. The savageness and cruelty are overwhelming.
6. Politics ' cancellations' even touched American comic book superheroes. You are no longer heroes, you are just the same ghouls and perverts as everyone else.
Season 1 I watched the whole thing. Season 2 on rewind. Season 3, no longer survived, mastered 2.5 episodes on rewind, of course. That's it.
Movies and series based on superhero comics are gaining momentum more and more. Excellent Marvel movies, diverse and interesting series and full-length animated DC Comics studios. And they're all surprisingly formulaic. The story of an extraordinary man, who received superpowers, confronts evil. The main character does not succeed at once, and by the end the villain is defeated, the hero finds himself and everything in this spirit. And so in almost every movie, every series. Only occasionally do they manage to surprise us that superheroes can die, too. If you remember the ending of “Infinity War” or “Flashpoint” – this is just what was interesting and rekindled the audience for viewing.
Yes, there were attempts to tell something extraordinary, like the movie “Kick-Ass”, where they made the hero of an ordinary boy without powers, or the series “Dumpsters”, where the abilities went to offenders serving a sentence at community service, and of course, Deadpool, breaking the fourth wall and talking to the audience. Unfortunately, there are few such examples.
And so, in 2019, there was “Spark of Hope”, “Ray of Light in the stamped world of superheroes”. The series "Boys", filmed on the comic book of the same name. The story tells what it would be like if superheroes were just starbursts. They flash to the movies, sell toys with them, conduct various shows and only very rarely, when it is profitable for them, they catch criminals. And there's a squad of Boys who are trying to rein in such over-the-top supers.
You can talk for a long time about this series, and after the second season I could not but share with you such a find. This is an amazing series, made with love for the source. A large number of references, great humor, effects, actors. Everything's on top. I'd like to see a separate voiceover.
I strongly recommend watching in the voiceover “Cube in a Cube”, otherwise you will lose some of the atmosphere, as in the series “Dumpsters”. Of course, there is a mat, but it is more appropriate there than anywhere else. Virtually no censorship (only 18+) and the most important thing is the plot and the story.
Of the disadvantages, we can probably highlight only that some superheroes tell a lot, but they are not very interesting.
From me, 9 out of 10 and a strong recommendation to watch if you are fed up with ordinary superhero movies. Have a good time, and remember. It's just my CryOpinion.
“Boys” is a series that can be called a modern masterpiece. A series that plunges the viewer into the harsh reality, showing what would happen if such superheroes were in our lives.
The only thing that’s disappointing is the lack of good voice. The cube in the cube sounds good, I do not argue, they translate jokes as well, but sometimes the translation is simply “put out the lights, throw a grenade”. Like the hardwood. Really? You can cut your ears at first, then get used to it.
Everything in this series is beautiful – from the actors to the presentation of the idea of “Boys”. You can see how people give their all (Anthony Starr and Carl Urban are vivid examples), and the same Eric Kripke... Should I mention that he made Supernatural, one of the best shows of all time? I am more than certain that with his presence, the series will be even better, and the arrival of actors like Jensen Ackles will be something incredible.
"Boys" is a show where you can't tell with certainty who is completely good and who is completely bad - just like the Boys and the local Justice League aka Seven - each has his demons, his sins and his vices. The series shows how strong people can be on the outside, but absolutely weak and insignificant on the inside and morally weak. How people can depend on public opinion and how it can influence morally.
This is an incredible series, cruel and brutal, sad and sad, and involuntarily flashes the thought in my head: “It’s good that they are not in our lives.” But... Is that really true?
Superhero movies and TV series are a real attraction, shot every year for 10 pieces, prequels, sequels, for every taste and purse. The plot is as old as the world, the struggle of superheroes who are a priori kind with superheroes who personify evil or for peace in the world and that’s the background of all this come out the Guys.
With the showrunner of the project is familiar from the beautiful series Supernatural, which was left behind after his departure from the project. He knows how to shoot, write scripts full of unexpected plot twists, select castes and handy people who know how to make candy, he knows how to pick up the soundtrack and make popular stars out of little-known actors.
The Boys have a very interesting plot, well-written dialogues, quality dialogues, blood, quality effects and talented actors.
Characters
Butcher. A very charismatic character, driven by anger and revenge, with personal motives. Team strength.
Huey. At first, hesitant, timid, then a full-fledged team leader, driven by the desire for the triumph of justice, the conscience and brain of the team, the very canary.
MM. A family man ready to protect his family is a great addition to the team.
French. A former drug addict, with French accents, is a great addition to the team.
Kimiko. First frightened, wanting to maim everyone around to save her relative, then a full member of the team, driven by revenge.
Superheroes.
Hardness. True American superheroes, the personification of America. Hypocritical, ready to do anything for money and fame, unscrupulous, can frame colleagues.
Maeve. Initially, it seemed that it would match the hard, then revealed on the other hand, it is not alien to human, then we will see.
Rocket. Typical athlete. In the team for money and fame, afraid to lose it all.
Depth. Complementing the team. Along with the Rocket is the same inconspicuous, even in the plot are in the same boat on the verge of departure.
A star. The most human of all superheroes, a fighter for justice. A team member who plays by his own rules is an undercover agent. Good.
I want to look further, the series go on for an hour, so much happens in one series that makes it more valuable than all these series and one-day movies. Jokes are not trivial. And next season, Jensen Ackles will be added, like a celebration. A real masterpiece, I will definitely look further. Only in the translation of cubes.
Alternative superheroic is not the most common subgenre, but is almost always interesting. 'Boys', based on the comic book of the same name (which I, of course, did not read), immediately attracted universal attention, obviously standing out against the background of DC and Marvel projects with their brutality and ambiguity of the main characters. And now that the teaser of the third season of the show has already appeared, it is worth going back to the already released ones and see what they offered.
So, ' Guys' introduce the viewer to a world where the existence of superheroes has long been something ordinary. Moreover, superheroes are a real brand that brings in billions of dollars. That's just behind the exterior gloss and smiles are corporate intrigue, secrets, and supers in themselves are not so good when they are not directed to the camera lenses. To pull all this crap out is going to Billy Butcher, who has personal motives and gathers a team of people like himself - audacious, slightly repulsed and hated super.
The plot with many unexpected discoveries and twists is truly fascinating. Characters are also pleasing - vivid, memorable images with understandable motives, personal dramas and everything else, which usually makes fictional characters ' convex', alive. Speaking about the characters, it is impossible not to mention the cast. The caste is perfectly selected, everything is called in its place. Separately, I want to note, as always, the brutal Carl Urban and Anthony Starr, from which the incredibly cool and charismatic Homelander turned out.
The action in the series is not so much, but the existing scenes are well staged and filmed, decent graphics also do not disappoint. All this is generously flavored with old-fashioned ultraviolence - showrunners do not hesitate to show cruelty, while it cannot be said that it is somehow hyperbolized. It's just that on the one hand, we have superpowers revelling in their own strength and power, for whom collateral damage means nothing, and on the other, a bunch of angry men who don't consider these superhumans human. So the bloodiness of the conflict is not only organic within the series, but also more than justified.
In my opinion, the series is not perfect. My biggest and most important claim is to 'Boys' - timekeeping. An hour-long series is incredibly exhausting. In the second season, I often left the series in the background, simply because I was tired of listening to monotonous and boring dialogue, leading to nothing. There are a lot of them. Narrative simply does not keep the right balance between important events for the plot and fillers, without which you could do.
Verdict: 'Boys' I certainly liked it, but not enthusiastically. This is an interesting story with bright characters, which also has teeth, unlike most modern & #39; politically correct & #39; mass products. However, the sadness of the story did not allow me to fully enjoy the series. We look forward to it, but without fanaticism.
