The translation of the name from Russian distributors is idiotic. The film itself is not bad, shot well, but there is a problem that significantly spoiled my impression of the promising film - the development of the plot is too fast, too fast. There is no way to think about the situation. In good films on similar topics, there are such breaks, because non-stop drive and heat usually lead to the fact that the whole picture sticks together in one nervous moment and does not leave a positive impression of an interesting film that makes you think or reflect. That’s how it is with this film, everything is too fast, crumpled and dynamic, meaning and thought is not visible behind it.
A strong film about mysteries and engineering delights. With the characters, however, unlucky, to reveal them failed, although not really tried. It’s interesting to see what quest building can achieve without moral and budget constraints. The film does not claim script depth, and as entertainment for the evening - more than a worthy choice.
The movie "Claustraphobes" is actually called "Escape Room." First of all, it is worth noting that the first part is much better than the second part of the League of Survivors, because from the very beginning it retains intrigue and a certain identity. There is no such thing as slackness and shaming as in the second part. The organizers of the games - the Illuminati - are not shown directly, in the forehead, which retains a certain aura of mystery. Also, unlike the second part, all the characters have backstory, and it is more or less shown, we are introduced to the main participants of the deadly puzzle. All participants are united by a tragic event that happened to them and caused psycho-emotional damage in the past. As in the “Game of Squid”, the invitation card to the trials was a business card, but here it is more elegantly packaged in a black cube, which is a symbol of you guess who.
As a result, “Claustraphobes” is a rather high-quality film about deadly games, unlike the second part, which turned out to be frankly thrashy. "We know you have a choice" - the inscription on the cup in the first room of the quest - is a clear indication that the organizers of the Illuminati games respect freedom of choice, and therefore all participants in the deadly quest came there of their own free will. Yes, and yet, the quests are more or less solved by the viewer himself, more logical, less confusing than in the Survivors League. Some combinations are tied to the past of the participants, that is, only one of them can know the answer to the puzzle (of course, provided that he stays alive in the previous quest room). Dialogues are not stupid, not played, again, unlike the second part.
Fans of films of this genre are recommended to watch, I watched the film a second time specifically to write this review and confirm my impressions of watching. At the end of the film, the audience is given a hint of what to do to have a chance to win the game from the masters of our planet, because we are also being watched in our daily lives, and humanity has now entered into another deadly quest prepared for us by the Illuminati. But I am sure that most of you who have read these lines will not understand what we are talking about.

I've been watching at home, and I'm sure this kinzo wouldn't have come in. Really. A cliché, an insane amount of highly anticipated moments and reactions. The rooms themselves are cool, though.
The film is very tasty, but in my opinion, quite low-budget.
The script is standard - the true stories of the characters are revealed at the very end, after which the viewer changes his attitude to each of them. And again the classic winner and ' type unexpected' denouement with a call to the second part. By the way, I watched this movie only when I saw that the second part will be shown in the movie.
The acting is mediocre, I do not really believe in fear, horror, sincerity of the desire to help others. In general, the most sincere, in my opinion, was the hero of Nick Dodani. Childish naivety, enthusiasm, request for the title of know-it-all, sincerity in deeds and deeds.
It struck me that the team of directors, cameramen, screenwriters were very fond of tolerance (well, this is what Americans love). Different races, different hair/skin color/social status. Personally, I was still waiting for supporters of different orientations.
To be clear, the film will come in terms of some cruelty and ways of destroying players (that’s why we love 'Saw' Right?). Only in 'Saw' a chic philosophy, in which many people believe and are in solidarity with Kramer, and here the idea of the creators of the quest is much more global, but, unfortunately, they are stretched and smeared with a thin layer of cruelty. The subject of meaning is not revealed as it should be. At the end, we recall 'Hostel', with the only difference that in 'Hostel' we revealed the idea quickly, clearly and absolutely clear (although only in the third part), and here left 10 minutes of time to explain a rather global thing.
I am sure that with better detail and competent PR campaign from this film would be a lot of thematic fan quests that would be a huge success.
And so for me, as for a very capricious horror man, this is the most common average: there are very entertaining moments, and places that seriously sag.
So the average score is
Claustrophobes is a psychological thriller by Adam Robitell. The concept of a series of trap rooms in which the main characters must try to save their lives, and they themselves got into such an unpleasant situation for a reason, is very similar to the unforgettable Saw. But compared to their older brother, the Claustrophobes have a lower age rating of PG-13. That is, to bet on cruelty, as did the above franchise, “Claustrophobes” could not, so it was very interesting to see how Director Robitell will entertain the audience.
The plot tells about a number of characters: a withdrawn but very smart girl, a successful businessman, an alcoholic-loser and so on. All of them close people send a cube puzzle, opening which they are issued an invitation to the quest of a certain corporation Minos. In case of victory in this quest, the winner receives 10 thousand dollars. The prize is tempting, so that all the guests are in a deadly trap, since the deaths in the quest are not staged.
The plot in the film is clinically blunt, but most importantly in such cases, it takes 20 minutes of timekeeping (and those in the final), and also rather amuses with all those mysterious, distorted voices that are outdated 10 years ago, if not more, so I will not find fault with it. The finale smiled at me, and the content of the plot in the picture is so small that it does not even matter.
I liked the characters. Let’s start with the main character played by Taylor Russell. The girl is quite cute and gave her a win-win option for this kind of film - a closed, but very smart and kind girl who experienced something terrible as a child. You automatically imbue her with sympathy and worry about her, and some multi-movement heroine Russell is really well prescribed. Logan Miller is a controversial but not bad character. Of course, the writers broke the firewood with the difficult fate of his character - for example, alcoholism and nicotine addiction in the course of the plot do not affect the hero, which is strange, but, in general, I have no complaints about him. Jay Ellis closes the three most interesting characters of the film: firstly, he is quite charismatic in himself, secondly, the writers made a couple of interesting moments with his character, and thirdly, the joke about “American Psycho” is just fire. The other characters are less remembered: they are just caricatures. Deborah Anne Wall is an attractive woman, but the image of a war-broken heroine is too banal. Tyler Labin and Nick Dodani embodied the most boring and uninteresting images in the team.
From a visual point of view, the film is very good: for $ 9 million, the authors managed to build very creative and large-scale traps that the same “Saw” did not dream of. Of course, it is worth noting a radically different approach to the traps of the authors of two similar psychological thrillers – if the authors of “Saws” put on simplicity and cruelty (for example, the character pulls the door handle and shoots a revolver at him), then the authors of “Claustrophobes”, due to the rating of PG-13 (that is, our 16+), began to focus on the creativity and scale of traps (for example, an inverted bar weighing in the elevator shaft, where after each incorrect code scrolled by the safe lock, the floor collapses). I believe that the traps in “Claustrophobes” very qualitatively distinguish the film from a number of competitors. In addition, my favorite composer Brian Tyler and John Carey gave a great and very meditative soundtrack, which I enjoy listening to separately from the film.
In the end, a very decent one-time thriller came out. Yes, the plot is weak, but the characters, traps and soundtrack completely pay off viewing. Especially if you like atmospheric psychological thrillers like Saw.

Who's the luckiest guy? Eh, they didn’t know that luck smiles at the lucky ones first... and then laughs at them for a long time. Could, of course, invited to the quest to feel the trick in advance, it is painfully spooky were boxes with invitations - exactly the devil's toy from "Rebels from hell." Normal film, traps entertaining and technically thought out, watching was interesting and even in places a little exciting.
It looks like a cube (if anyone remembers). Not bad at all. And the ending is not predictable, in moderation. And the end implies continuation, but at the same time complete. Genre lovers-- We can watch.
The idea is not new, implementation without highlights
The idea of the film is not new: similar was already in the trilogy 'Cube', 'The Farm Trap', also according to the script, the quest is made 'The Hunger Games' and 'Bunker'.
If we talk about the quality of the quest in the film - then there are few mysteries, to pass it requires special conditions or knowledge that the heroes were lucky to have, but the cost of error is very high. Yes, the quest was prepared specifically for them, but they introduce the characters very superficially, which is why their reasoning does not always look logical. Once again show the competitiveness of people in the struggle for life, although it is not entirely clear whether this competition is appropriate here, the heroes do not even appear cohesion when they understand that the quest has already begun, and mistakes are dangerous.
The denouement of the plot is not thought out, contains strange errors, for example, how managed to enter the password 'CLOUD' on the code lock of the aircraft containing only numbers and three letters 'ABC'?
The acting is not impressive, but does not cause discontent. In general, a film for one viewing, which does not teach anything, but just distract your attention for an hour and a half.
What an idiotic translation of the name of the film, such a word does not even exist in the Russian lexicon, especially in the dictionary, sounds generally like an expletive, oh, these moronic Russian localizers-channelers, the same "Quest", although it repeats the name of the previous films, but is more appropriate in the washing away of the plot, the film itself looks great, you can immediately see that the creators of this creation have tried to fame, and the game of actors is great, you worry about the heroes as for yourself, which is not bad, the end hints at the continuation, and fees like they allow, with a budget of $ 9 million, even $ 53 million. . 10 out of 10.
Before the start of viewing, I did not expect any expectations, I thought another passing horror movie. Oh no, it turned out to be a good thriller, with a fascinating intricate plot and no bloody mess on the screen. I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend and look forward to the second part!
Another statement on the theme “Cube”, “Saw”, “Examination”, “Experiment”, or even “The Terrible Will of the Gods & #39; and not by night mentioned “Elusive”, produced by CTC.
In short, a group of people come to the quest, and there's kind of a real danger. And then it's all over again. Some characters are shown before the quest begins, some are not. Cut them to comply with the timing or simply did not prescribe, it is unknown. In such films, there is always an interesting ending. And then the trailer was quite tempting. The interiors of the rooms of fear from which to get out were very spectacular and beautiful. Sometimes contrary to common sense, but to the delight of lovers of the visual component. Well, the heroes of course dropped out during the film/quest. Someone was sorry, someone is not, because the heroes are banal. What happens at the end of the quest? I made guesses that could satisfy me, for example, in the end everyone stays alive and it’s really just a quest and the winner takes his ten and everyone goes home.
But the finale was unexpected and banal at the same time. Very banal, even. Here is the final trick in the style of thrash, and immediately a hint of the second part, where there will also be little meaning and beautiful interiors. Not impressed, but while you do not know the final, you sit, reason, figure out, which is certainly useful for the brain. You can see, but the fusion of the presence of human drama, seasoned with the echo of the film "Destination" is too much. As K. Prutkov said, “You cannot embrace the immense.” The ending ruins everything.
Again to blame... ( ).
The translation of the title has nothing to do with the film or the English version of the title. Take Russian distributors from the ceiling after watching the first scene of the film before the opening credits.
'Claustrophobes' (although, in fact, there are no claustrophobes here and in sight, once again I take off my hat in front of our translators) - a good thriller quite popular recently subgenre, which is based on quest rooms. It’s funny that quest rooms were originally inspired by thrillers and now serve as inspiration for such films. That's not what I'm talking about.
So, ' Claustrophobes' tells just such 'quest' in reality, the participants of which are several quite different characters. Some of them are seduced by a good amount of ten thousand dollars, which will get the winner, and someone just wants to have fun. One way or another, the game begins, and soon it becomes clear to the heroes that this quest can be deadly for them.
And for the characters of the film in principle can be praised. The actors here, as I said, are different, they differ not only in appearance, but also in characters. These are not just mannequins, but more or less lively heroes, even if their qualities are somewhat hypertrophied. Moreover, the film gradually acquaints the viewer with a brief backstory of each of the characters, very coolly combining the flashbacks of the characters with what is happening to them at the moment. Such episodes are not very many, but they are remembered, not least due to good editing. However, in my opinion, it was possible to work better with the characters, because I personally wanted to learn more about some of them.
Sami 'quests' (read - rooms with traps) in principle, too, well executed, and you can even call them original. At least, it is clear that the creators in this regard tried and bothered to come up with something unlike what we have seen before in similar films.
However, there are problems in the film. If you think about the script a little bit, it starts to raise questions - too much is left to chance. I don’t usually get hung up in movies on the ‘god out of the car’ & #39; and the blind luck of the characters, but that’s where the randomness is striking – because the whole quest that the characters are in is someone, roughly speaking, directed. And if the trap rooms in the franchise 'Saw' for the most part were calculated and thought out to the smallest detail, then too much depends on the factor ' and what if...', and this is disappointing.
If you sum up, then 'Claustrophobes' this is in principle a good film, but to view optional. Despite the fact that it can sometimes create tension, the tape is too passable. An unblemished script, insufficient in my opinion work with the characters, and the ending is very weak and frankly delusional. In general, you can see, but in principle you do not need to.
Enclosed space, a good plot and some high-quality special effects - this is a simple recipe for a great film "Claustrophobes".
Recently, films have become popular - quests, where the characters need to get out of any location (islands, rooms, buildings). This film makes the viewer more than once grasp the heart, worrying about the characters, and also raises important social problems: inequality of people, their cruelty, betrayal of loved ones, the desire to play other people’s lives for entertainment.
The plot of the film already delights many and makes you expect something very interesting from the film. It should be noted that these expectations are justified. One day, six guys – Amanda, Ben, Zoe, Mike, Jason and Denny – receive the same letter, which says about the possibility of completing the quest. The most attractive thing is that the winner will receive a special prize, ten thousand dollars. How do you explain this high price? Very simple: no one has been able to pass the quest yet.
The company "Minos", which created such a seemingly harmless game, sent an additional pass to each person, without which it is impossible to get to the test. The letter stated the location of the event. Each character had their own goals from attending the game, but the main motive was, of course, money. Gathered in the room for the first time, the participants waited for someone to come to them and tell them all the rules and subtleties of the game, but the company did not even suspect that the game had already begun. All the doors were locked. Ahead, they were waiting for a lot of confusing clues, as well as terribly dangerous traps.
The game in the film is not for life, but for death. If you do not have time to solve the mystery of the room in time, you will die. There are eight rooms in the game, and participants had to go through all of them to get out of the trap. Who did it? Take a look and you will find out.
But the plot on death traps does not end. Trying to survive, the characters communicate, talking about their past. So they understand that they all got together for a reason. Each of the characters has a difficult fate, and they see signs reminding them of the fateful event in each room.
The special effects in the film are wonderful, the locations are well designed, and it seems like everything that happens on the screen is real. I liked the Ice Room the most, and the room where the opposite was terrifying. Each room has a special atmosphere. The viewer, together with the characters, tries to find the keys, to understand what certain objects are needed for.
The characters are completely different, and I think every viewer chooses who he likes and cheers for them, because in such films, everyone never survives. So we become unwitting participants in the TV show Lost, only more dramatic and realistic.
Acting is on top. Heroes behave exactly as they should when in a situation. Their behavior is logical, there is no playfulness. They are emotional, stick to a certain line of behavior. Sometimes you wonder: “Would you survive in such a situation?”, “How would you behave?”, “Would one of your friends be able to complete such a quest to the end?”. The answer is usually “no.”
There is also an unexpected twist in the plot, and not even one. This makes the film even more interesting and dynamic.
In the film, as in all films – quests, flashbacks appear, showing the past of the characters. They show us the real heroes, their essence. During the film, the heroes of the quest participants are revealed, and fear and panic expose the hidden ugliness of some, highlighting “positive” heroes against their background.
If we talk about claustrophobia, which the title of the film clearly tells us, then only one heroine has it. The name, in my opinion, is given because of the game itself, which will cause the fear of enclosed spaces in any player. Heroes dream of getting out of the building, as only this will save their lives. Each room is a real cluster of deadly traps. Anyone's gonna be claustrophobic.
Summing up, I can say that I really liked the film. Good plot, great acting, interesting quests, plot twists, atmospheric and well-designed locations, dynamism, drama and realism - these are the advantages of this film.
I didn’t notice any particular drawbacks in the film. I can only say that in some cases, the characters switched too quickly in stressful situations, but this can be attributed to a strong human psyche. Also, a slight flaw with the costumes of the characters – wet spots disappeared, as well as snow on clothes.
I recommend watching the film for a young audience. Especially it will appeal to those who love movies - quests, as well as good thrillers. I don’t recommend watching particularly impressionable people.
It happens that some films shot according to the same canons, so to speak, ' from the same family' break up, are remembered with something bright, become a kind of example for ' cognates' by genre, set the bar, the next level and so on. And it happens that on the contrary - fall below nowhere, forcing to recall the previous paintings from the pool of the same type with some even reverence. ' And that hat did not look anything, in comparison with this. . . '.
And yet it happens, as here, with 'Claustraphobes' - something average, niche such, stamping, not for a sophisticated viewer, but for a fairly waiting, apparently. I films ala ' Saw' a long time did not watch, did not wait, did not follow, never really liked because of weak faith in what is happening, but then decided to look, because the rating bribed.
I will start with a good : the film, after all, forced to examine itself to the end, keeping in some, albeit completely basic, but stress. I watched the lively fuss of the men in the rooms, waiting for what would fall off, explode, crack or quack further. On this sluggish (in my case) expectation all the good and ended.
From bad and bad . The first thing that catches the eye is the disgusting play of the actors at the beginning of the film. When everything is just beginning and the viewer, in theory, had to tell some introductory characters. It turned out, to put it mildly, indistinct. Instead of personalities, the emphasis is placed on only one episode from the biography of each character (all have different in detail, but similar in essence), which according to the script, in fact, all of them gathered in one place. The move is bold but rash. Closer to the middle of the film, the performance of the roles is slightly straightened out, because to portray the Lyceums is only told to panic and other strained worries (which, obviously, is easier to do). I ended up not empathizing with any of the survivors.
Predictability of the behavior of heroes. If the modifications of the scenery were still somehow intriguing and sometimes even brought me to my senses, then the behavioral line of the characters felt extremely direct, divided by segments of platitudes and having a completely predictable finish. Yes, they decided to lead us a little by the nose with this episode of the ending, which was shown at the very beginning, but somewhere it has happened more than once. Many times. 'Claustrophobes' consist of clichés, what do you want?
Unrealistic. Yes, I always dig into all the films practically, from my point of view as a sofa expert, assessing whether it could have happened like this or not. Would there be so many rooms in one building? How did no one know or even know about a building like this in the middle of Chicago? Was the behavior of the police at the end of the film appropriate? Here I have all these and many other questions the answer is everywhere negative for 'Claustrophobes'.
That's all, actually. I didn't like it, I didn't come in. Empty movie, flat and bland. If you are a devoted fan of the genre, then certainly do not pass by and eat your favorite gruel. If you find your own splendor in a refined taste, then turn your elegant noses away from this grayness and hastily walk along the alley of cinema further.
General impression: Do you like quests? Are you fascinated by puzzle games? Have you ever been a part of an exciting game? Then this movie will definitely please you. Well, if you have never participated in quests, then please aboard - "Claustrophobes", feel yourself a participant in the survival game.
A distinctive feature of the film is the dynamics. A little disclosure at the beginning and almost from the first minutes, the viewer is thrown into the mischievous plume of the gambling field. Six strangers must unite together to not only complete the quest, but also survive at any cost! Ahead of them waiting for a hot performance, without victims can not do. But do you think our heroes happened to be here by accident? Of course not! They are all connected by one small detail, which you will understand from the plot.
The actors on the screen, without a shadow of falsehood, are well immersed in their heroes. They transmit mood, fear and torpor from what is happening, sometimes the nerves were naughty because of the heat of passions. I wonder who's gonna die. Plus, transitions from the rooms are pleasing, details, locations are diverse, which gives the picture a color.
Claustrophobia is a thriller. It is fascinating to watch, and even despite small errors and some platitudes, the tape does not sag. This has to do with the constant movement of heroes. Lookable
The picture, perhaps, on some will make an impression in the spirit of "Huts in the woods", while for the rest it will be no more than a one-time thriller. In any case, for me personally, based on the name of the director and the cast, it turned out to be quite an amusing spectacle, which looks clearly more expensive than the declared budget.
Several people of different profiles agree to an adventure quest, and over time it becomes obvious that only the participants have plans for survival, but clearly not the organizers of the game. The action was not long in coming, and after passing through the ventilation shaft from the first room of the main characters, the events develop at a rather active pace, and each of these mystery rooms has its own interesting plot twists.
What turned out to be pleasant in this film is that, unlike many similar projects, when the trailers of the paintings selectively focus on the most key scenes, in the case of "Claustrophobes", the most interesting comes during viewing. So even having a bright trailer for this story, the authors managed to keep with interest at the screen while watching. The only drawback is that, in contrast to the very "Hut", which turned out to have enough creativity to open the viewer's jaw, in "Claustrophobes" the denouement is a bit banal.
Moreover, not much information was provided about the “organizers” themselves, even the final with the main character still left some hopes for the director’s twist, but this did not happen. Nevertheless, a cheerful and interesting movie, albeit not a landmark event in the entire genre, but a completely fresh look in the context of such thrillers.

'I'm so tired of rushing between you guys in bouts of claustrophobia. . . -
The last few fresh indoor movies filled with riddles and traps I’ve seen have not been very good, to say the least. That's what their assessments said. But with this picture, things were a little different. The ratings were quite good, which gave hope that this work will be quite suitable, and maybe even better.
And I really liked the movie. Despite the fact that still it has its drawbacks, sometimes quite rude, which immediately catch the eye. He does not disdain too strong assumptions, because of which common sense suffers. And the characters in places, as usual, behave not very smart and careless. This is especially true in the first two rooms.
But it was the events that happened to the heroes in these two rooms that made a bigger impression on me. I was anxious, thanks to the intelligent build-up of tension, and the atmosphere of rapidly increasing, imminent danger could be felt very clearly. In such scenes, I even sweat my palms - not every thriller who tries to take his atmosphere can do this to me. The feeling of anxiety was also heightened by the awareness of the unknown. What will happen next, how the characters will behave in such a rapidly changing and worsening situation, whether they have enough time, whether they can make the right decision, what awaits them in the next room, etc. These are questions that haunted me throughout most of the picture. And I got answers to almost all of them. Interesting and varied thought out rooms and traps in them, here the creators tried.
Someone compares the tape with the series of films 'Cube' and 'Saw' but I will not and do not want to do it, although similar moments occur. I'll just say that to the level of Jigsaw she is like the moon, and the Cube I never really liked. The final, as for me quite ambiguous, left a clear setback for the sequel, but I accepted it, so be it. Judging by the fees, the continuation is likely, but I think it will be worse, although I always think so.
As a result, the film really turned out to be good, better than its last predecessors, although absolutely not ideal in terms of common sense, character behavior and some laws of physics, but emotionally it can give that, should give a thriller.

In recent years, it is not so often that really high-quality horror films about a group of people come out that suddenly they find themselves locked in a certain room, and are forced to solve the sinister and deadly mysteries of mad inventors or evil corporations. And in general, if you look at this concept in more detail, it becomes obvious that there are incredibly few really useful things. What's been going on all the time? Obviously, it is impossible not to mention the "Cube", a modern remake of which is waiting, it seems for a very long time and stubbornly. Immediately recalled “Saw”, well, or even conditionally fresh “Experiment “Office”. But again, these are relatively successful things. Director Adam Robitell, who not so long ago debuted his first horror film – “Demons Deborah Logan”, also decided to say a few words in a similar concept. The man worked on the fourth part of “Astral”, and probably earned some credit, in connection with which, he was allocated a budget for “Claustrophobes”. Alas, the latter were not at all what I expected from Robitela.
A small group of people were invited to conduct the quest, which has gained huge popularity in recent years. For the passage of all his trials, a rather impressive amount of money is promised, and in fact it can be said that none of the participants had a question about participation or not participation. All as one, arrived at the appointed time and hour. And as soon as the game began, not all of its participants immediately realized that the quest is not something harmless, and that they will have to apply all their skills in order to survive.
Starting really intriguing and really atmospheric, the film very quickly begins to slide into some serious routine. Literally after the first test, the viewer is fed completely banal rooms and trials that the main characters are forced to undergo. Moreover, some of these trials are quite long, and it would be better to cram in more diverse rooms. What is characteristic, and it is no secret, that the characters die here, but the deaths look terribly inexpressive and frankly banal, that is, even in this regard, the picture is simply unable to surprise the viewer. In addition, it is worth noting that all the local riddles and fitting rooms and traps under them, look terribly far-fetched, and like it should look like some scrupulousness, but this causes only some bewilderment and nothing more. The cast seems to have no faults, and Deborah Anne Wall is really good in the local role. At the same time, I did not even think that the local image would suit this actress so well.
In conclusion, I would like to say that closer to the final, I would like to get something completely unusual, something really exciting, so that there was a feature that knocks the viewer out of a comfortable chair with its surprise. But no, it wasn't even close. Instead, we got something completely indistinct, I would even call it some standard puff. I don’t know who thought about finishing “Claustrophobes” or how long, but he did it really badly. In addition, there is a bold hint of a continuation, even in fact touched on the whole franchise. Yes, only now I do not want it, because the already laid beginning was completely passable. Put “Saw” or “Cube” in a row with the painting by Robitela is clearly not worth it. And Robitel himself, apparently, will shoot very average horror films and this is probably what his talents are enough for.
There have already been a sufficient number of films with a similar plot, including films in which the focus is precisely fashionable nowadays quests, alone struggling with the alluring pixel world, but this does not cause any damage to this film. What did you see? Saw? Cube? Exam? Claustrophobia? All these films, except the last one, are undoubtedly much stronger than the fresh novelty of Adam Robitela (Astral 4, Demons of Deborah Logan), but this movie can not be called a complete suck. Or rather, not just impossible, and the film caused a real storm of emotion during viewing. It was predictable, of course, but it was so dynamic and fast that I simply did not notice many of the shortcomings.
The film begins simply, a group of people from different social groups, not similar to each other, receive an invitation to a quest. By the way, the idea of an invitation is very cool, the cubes are unusual. They look spectacular, of course, do not cause anyone a single question and everyone arrives in an incomprehensible building in order to earn a little money. A set of ' standard ' heroes for this type of film. What I like is that there is no long tie, the move begins quite quickly. Nice scenery, interesting riddles that made the characters move and offer non-standard solutions. It is clear that the authors tried very hard to diversify the plot and contribute something of their own. So, throughout the film you can see Easter eggs that push the characters to think that not everything is so harmless and they are not here by chance. Also, the creators resort to the trick when 'babach' happens a little later or sooner than you expect. And what I liked most about the film was not pumping blood at every step, as is often done in similar thrillers and horror films.
The actors don’t know each other, but for a movie like this, that’s exactly what you need. The actors played well, very believable and realistic. The only person I know in the film is a female soldier. She was played by Deborah Anne Wall, who at one time noticed me in the TV series True Blood, where she played the role of the vampire Jessica.
The finale is pretty predictable. I predicted this in advance, and in principle I believe in the possibility of a sequel. I think it will be quite appropriate and in general this story is quite capable of developing into a trilogy, or even much more. A dashing and exciting film that can make you worry, and freeze in anticipation of further decision, and be horrified by what is happening. By the way, some quest rooms were very unreal, this simply could not be in reality. I won’t spoil it, but there are still some questions about the film. Which, by the way, is also great, bright pictures should not reveal all their details.
Fans of this theme simply cannot miss this creation, the dashing 100 minutes of this tape will make you not break away from the screen, forcing you to forget about the necessary needs, like going for a smoke or drink water. The film definitely deserves attention, and all the unreality that takes place in the film, you can safely omit, because first of all it is a spectacle, very, very useful. Relax and forget about the difficulties of our life with such a story is just what we need.

Unexpectedly good movie! As previously written, it looks like a cult series 'Cubov'. Except that 'Cubas', after all, it is not quests, but something more, it is a whole philosophy.
Back to 'Claustrophobes'. The name is not only incorrect, but does not reflect the whole essence. Claustrophobia, by the way, none of the characters suffered, perhaps it will suffer the audience. Why not call this movie 'Quest?' or 'Find a Way'? That's what he's talking about. Fashionable rooms in which players need to find clues and get out have found their way to the big screen. There have already been several film variations on this topic, but this one is perhaps the most successful.
Nice idea and excellent execution, all rooms are made just fine, a wide flight of fantasy, not beaten moves, chic traps.
Maybe the characters are a claim, but this is if you look for something to find fault with (it was not impressive that the writers gave the calmest heroine a sudden tantrum in the middle of the film). GG could have been slicker. There are also a couple of moments ' I don't believe ' but where are they now?
At the end, a strong statement about the upcoming sequel is stated, well, let’s wait!
I don’t think people got into it 'Claustrophobes' perhaps again through translation, I wish more people had seen and appreciated the film.

I recommend watching with friends, it will not be boring!
It's not a bad movie, it's just a passing movie. He definitely gives what is expected of such films, but gives a little weak.
Heroes are templates, but these patterns are not particularly annoying. There are no freaks, glad. femics, mannered gays, religious fanatics. Everyone behaves rationally after the first death. No one suddenly goes crazy or starts a fight. We are not even forced to empathize with them, well, in short, the director understands that people came to eat popcorn, and not to look at the pathetic attempts to betray the drama, as some.
But the real problem is with quests. Everyone here has the same pattern. Boring, because instead of consciously trying to solve a complex chain, they are forced to poke and fumble around the room, and then frantically try to apply the found 'items' to 'active points' because there is little time left. Remember the Russian computer quests of the 90s, like Chapaev. If the film was intended to intimidate or psychologically torture, it failed miserably.
Well, the ending is disappointing, just sucked out of the finger.
Conclusion: if the connoisseur of such films will do. You have to watch something, right?

I love 'cubo-like' movies, they have their own romance. I am surprised that I have not heard about this film anywhere, it is not a cheap treshak, but a very high-quality and atmospheric film.
Much to tell about it will not work, the classic - a bunch of marginals is tested for judgment in rooms with deadly traps. Very pleased with the minimum of special effects and very rich and rich scenery, excellent camera work, the actors are very trying, emotions pour over the edge.
Bad script, sometimes horribly stupid dialogue, but at the same time there are very witty moments. But in general, the impressions are very positive, I would even say that I would like to see a continuation. In my opinion, the film has the potential for an entire franchise, as, for example, in ' Destination' or 'Saws'. The ending is very, very promising!
It is not a waste of time, I advise everyone!

It’s no secret that the entertainment industry has certainly succeeded over the past decade, and this is readily apparent in all its branches. As if in computer and console games, which began to give just photographic graphics and full immersion in the gameplay, or in the television format and format of streaming services, the products of which began to slowly force to smoke in the sidelines of most expensive cinematic products of modern cinema and such a list can go on for quite a long time. Numerous quest rooms have taken their place among them, which willingly grow in number like mushrooms after the rain and young people willingly try their intellectual qualities in new trials. The latter became the basis for this film by the director Adam Robitela.
The plot of the picture develops six strangers who receive an invitation from a famous company-manufacturer of the most sensational and famous quests in the country. In case one of them passes all the quests and wins, the company promises a reward of $ 10,000, which blinds the main characters and they quickly agree. Without even thinking about why no one has yet managed to pass all the quests of the company and what exactly awaits them in the tests prepared by the company.
The idea of this tape is far from new and original. Huntingly giving roots in the direction of such classics as “Game” Fincher, “Cube” Natalie and “Saw” Wang, and in the direction of the eponymous film of Will Wernick 2017, which this film director Adam Robitela quotes in many ways. Especially the last one. However, to call this film secondary and plagiarism do not want. Since despite the secondary idea, the creators of the tape managed to present it to the audience quite fresh and interesting. Undoubtedly achieving this with really interesting quest trials, as well as a tight veil of intrigue that holds up to the very final credits.
However, there are obvious drawbacks to the script of this tape. First, the opening scene of this tape seems absolutely superfluous. Since it immediately makes it clear who will live to the final test, and who – not and this completely beats off the intrigue in empathy with the main characters of the tape. The second is the frankly bad ending of this tape, which is designed to “sell” the upcoming / possible sequel to the viewer. But completely kills the entire ideology of this tape and nullifying it. After all, if in the same “Saw” the mistakes of the past of each of the subjects are used against him for the sake of overcoming them, rebirth as a person and finding a second chance at life from scratch, then in this case – the fears of the main characters are used as a usual cheating on the part of the authors of quests, and their test is only ordinary entertainment without any philosophical and deep goal. Thus, making the story quite fascinating and interesting, but absolutely empty in terms of emotional return and food for thought.
The director of this tape Adam Robitel shot a very not bad sample of a psychological survivor-thriller, which most decently deals with a slightly ambiguous scenario throughout the screen time. Creating the impression of a really exciting, dynamic and intense spectacle. Moreover, only reinforcing the suspense as intriguing and interestingly designed quest rooms with their implementation (perhaps the best that is in the tape), and quite inventive shooting in such limited and even “claustrophobic” (pardon the pun) scenery. The only thing is a little confused by the manner of presentation of these tests on the screen. Allows only to observe the actions of the characters, and not to take a direct part in them and perhaps even solve mysteries before the heroes. However, it is quite difficult to say unequivocally whether it is the Robitel himself or the screenwriters who are to blame.
The cast did not work well on the screen. Nothing particularly good or downright bad can be said about their game. Each of them quite “smoothly” performed his role on the screen, and the lack of big names and familiar faces makes it much easier to see in them ordinary people, not actors. Unless, Deborah Anne Wall did not quite convincingly reveal her character in the context of her fears and military past.

Claustrophobia is not the most perfect and outstanding, but quite a fascinating and exciting survivor thriller. Willingly bribing with a really interesting idea, which was not spoiled by its numerous exploitation in other films, nor by certain flaws in the script. Giving the audience exactly what they need – a fascinating, exciting, tense and interesting spectacle. However, with a much more proper approach to creating a picture, it could become more than that and this is a fact.
A few strangers to each other. Multiple levels of one quest. A lot of dangers and tricks that are better not to fall for. The creators of “Claustrophobes” tried to make a person going to the quest room, experienced extreme nervousness from waiting for the unknown.
However, when I watched this film, I remembered another one – it is called – “Quest”. And in the process of contemplation came the thought: it’s interesting, the directors of “Quest” and “Claustrophobes” specifically intimidate people with their nightmares so that they have fear when talking about such hobbies? This is how you look at another deadly quest and think: is it worth going to it and waiting for some such trick, promising to part with life?
In principle, in its content, “Claustrophobes” are identical to many films: comedy “Night Games”, cool and cult “Game” Fincher, the franchise “Saw”, as well as “Death Maze” in 2005 with Dennis Hopper, good thrillers “13 sins” and “Experiment” Office, etc. The conditions change: one or more people, a game of survival or destruction of another’s life, the goal of villains, hiding in the past sins of the heroes or dependent on other facts.
According to its content in terms of interiors, traps and riddles, "Claustrophobes" are able to win over the viewer, because it is the quest component of the film that is good. Interesting moves, puzzles and dangers lie in wait for the heroes at almost every step, and the expansion of the quest to several levels makes it possible to assess the scope of the organized event. Locations are also very well chosen, especially an inverted bar, a hospital room and a winter forest edge with a house. The essence of each of the tasks is not at all reduced to finding the door, and then finding the key to it - you need to solve another mystery along the way, and an erroneous answer can be expensive.
More questions are raised by the logical component of “Claustrophobes”, which consists in quite adequate questions: why such a scale of the organizers of the quest – a giant structure with several levels requires significant effort (much more than those shown), how the quest communications are arranged (judging by what they see – they have a colossal scale), because some freezers, real reservoirs under the ice, as well as offices-stoves and bottomless rooms look fantastic. With a standard quest here you can compare only a hospital room and a room with a sizzling TV - the rest of the rooms appear unrealistically cumbersome in terms of equipment and design (but look cool, I do not argue).
The choice of these six characters is unclear. In the film, it is explained in terms of looking at these lucky people, but the path of each, which eventually led them to the office building without signs is completely different and where someone was once lucky in critical situations, someone simply took their own and survived not by chance, but because of their sense of self-preservation.
The deadly labyrinth proposed by director Adam Robitell is exotic in terms of its saturation, but sags along the plot lines, not really explaining who is behind everything that is happening, whether the stakes are here as in “13 sins” or in “The Experiment “Office”, without adding clarity on the choice of heroes, without focusing on the details concerning how much time it takes to prepare a new quest, which will launch after this six passes the test.
Plus, the director, playing the theme of unity for the sake of achieving the final result, actually shows not the team, but scattered players, for whom death in the rooms is only a matter of time. If they worked together, there would be fewer casualties.
The movie's not bad, but it's not perfect either. Taking into account the fact that he fully recaptured the cashier, we can say that the director has heipaned on the theme of quests and is quite capable of a sequel.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Long before modern geeks decided to start spending money on real quests, let’s be honest, this was dramatized many times on the big screen. It all began, probably, with Lumet’s “Death Trap” (and maybe even Mankiewicz’s “Games to Flow”), then passed into a new era with Fincher’s “Game” and favorites – the cult “Cube” and still alive, oddly enough, the Saw franchise. From timeless classics to exploitative horror: in any of these films, defeating horror with logic was one element of the plot. Now that every layman can experience all the insanity of the quest, it’s no surprise that the film industry has embraced this and released project after project about it. “Claustrophobia” was probably stronger than his colleagues in the genre on the same topic (“Claustrophobia” and “Quest”), but still not very trying to impress.
Everything begins cheerfully: the young man tries to find a way out of the room. With every second the situation heats up more and "Claustrophobes" clearly clarify: these quests do not entertain, they are ready to kill those people who dared to take part in them. This does not weaken the viewer’s attention, but only teases, which positively affects the future.
So, several people are invited to take part in the quest. People are really different: a sad guy who might be a drug addict; a college prodigy afraid to stand out; a black desperate businessman; a girl who is a combat veteran; a bearded hard worker of uncertain age; and finally, a nerd as he is usually portrayed in movies. Each of the characters, which the plot hints at in the future, was not accidentally in the quest room. The team quickly finds chemistry among themselves and, again, these incredible friends involuntarily harmonize.
All the rooms from which the heroes must get out are supposed to be daring and smart, but the emphasis is absolutely not on what is needed. The unruly adventure is replaced by some traumatic experiences. That’s pretty good, but the full effect isn’t realized later in the script or in general. Allegedly built around fears and traumatic experiences (fear of burning alive, freezing to death, falling from a great height, etc.), the death quest itself is executed creatively, although no matter how claustrophobic and original the room was, the tension they can not always maintain. The creators resort to cheap jumps or unnecessary injuries: these moments are so unattractive that they negatively dilute viewing. The design of the quest room is the best that there is, and the final scene hints that the possibilities for creativity are almost limitless, but is it worth spoiling everything with tricks sucked from the finger?
Otherwise, as far as external charms and charismatic live actors are concerned, "Claustrophobes" can boast of nothing. There's nothing defiant here that can go beyond genre attributes, and ultimately the script slides into weary and predictable revelations and inconclusive plot twists. The last 10 minutes of the film are likely a mystery: they are only trying to sell the viewer a sequel that may not be. As they say, the basis of the plot is solid, but the last touches spoil the portrait.
The “Claustrophobes” will have both advantages and disadvantages, but the detachment of the script from the audience is very much strained. We cannot escape the feeling that we are just a silly entertaining film; it is impossible to penetrate the illusion of watching. The production artists, and probably the actors, have done a lot of work, but the concept is inconsistent in almost everything: while some characters are drawn in detail, others are only sketches woven out of clichés; some traps make you break your head and the viewer, and others are too banal and implausible. The standard moral compass does not allow history to present significant surprises, which, alas, does not allow “Claustrophobes” to rise in the list of films about an enclosed space.

How often do you go beyond your borders? Have you ever been locked in a series of options, returning to your starting point? Is it easy to find a way out of the mystery room? Perhaps the answer is somewhere near, just go through this quest.
Six strangers are invited to undergo trials in a mysterious Qestrum. The prize fund promises a generous $10,000. Please leave your phones and naive hopes at the entrance. The mysteries are complex, and the various dangers look terribly realistic. Is there a limit to the game becoming a death trap? Turn on your imagination, ingenuity and prepare to test for strength.
Adam Robitell, in the past, delighted us only with mediocre horrors. Now the director presents a survival thriller to the court. And he seems much luckier here. The basis of the plot is taken from the popular, but terribly annoying "Saw". The hysterical atmosphere, driven by dangerous traps and tantrums of the characters - everything is as we love. The budget of the picture is modest by modern standards, only $ 9 million. A star lineup is not to be expected. Familiar faces here: Tyler Laben and Deborah Anne Wall. The actors play well, but only a former military and physics student wants to empathize. Other characters for some reason came out not so alive and real. In terms of special effects and scenery, everything is beautiful and realistic.
Separately, I want to note the subtext of the film. Here the authors took a little from quantum physics, mathematics and numerology. The number of characters is six. The same facets of the mysterious cube they receive as an invitation to play. The story itself does not begin from the beginning and has no definite end, like an impossible Escher staircase. No matter what the characters do, there will only be another test. At the end of the film, thoughts come about the despair and fatality of life itself.
In general, "Claustrophobes" look very cheerful, holding in tension until the very end. To all fans of the bloody puzzles of John Cramor (Saw) I recommend you to watch. The story leaves behind a number of questions, subtly hinting at a sequel.
