I hope you know what to do. These kids are special.
I saw this movie for the first time now. In 2020, there were not many horror films to choose from, so I chose the film Nanny, despite the rather low rating. I don’t usually look at the movie’s ratings, because often people’s opinions don’t match mine. But not this time. As it turned out, this film is really much lower than average.
A young teacher accepts a job as a governess for an 8-year-old girl. Arriving in a luxurious mansion, she meets her ward, as well as her older brother. On the first night in the mansion begin to happen strange things.
I didn't really like the movie. Or rather, I didn’t like it at all. Because of all sorts of experimental horrors, like "Get Out," I'm already weaned from the usual mystical horror movies. I was happy when I read the synopsis. I was like, ‘Am I going to watch a good old horror movie about a haunted house?’ But the movie disappointed me anyway. Either they forgot how to shoot, or the screenwriters Chad and Carey Hayes after the two parts of The Conjuring ran out of steam. But after seeing who is the director of this creation, it became clear to me. Floria Sigizmondi is a video maker, and also occasionally shoots episodes for TV series and, apparently, has no idea how to work with a full meter. This can be seen in a very clumpy manner of narration, and is very striking.
At first, the plot develops quite quickly, which should already be a wake-up call. That's what happened. After a quick acquaintance with the main characters, as well as the bundle, the story seems to freeze. For the next hour, nothing interesting happens. Yes, there were moments of light shake, but it was done rather so that the viewer did not fall asleep. And only towards the end of the film, finally, it swells. To me, waiting for something, not knowing what, most of the time from all the timing is too long even for a horror. And all this time we throw some details and details, obviously in order to solve some mystery. That’s just the attempts to weave the element of the detective in the narrative are so sluggish and lazy that there is no desire to solve mysteries at all. I watched the movie just to see how it all ended. Of course, the finale did not please me either. Too predictable and boring. The plot, although it tries to be original, but it does not succeed.
The actors weren’t happy with their performance either. The cast, though impressive, but move and pronounce their text like sleepy flies. I didn’t expect anything from Mackenzie Davis in terms of acting, but I had high hopes for Finn Wolfhard. He has already done well in horror. But he didn't do his best either.
Does this movie scare you? I didn't scare myself. In fact, everything is based on rare screeners, as well as a pressing atmosphere. The atmosphere here is really oppressive. Almost the whole film is gray, and the slow course of events adds to the gloom. Personally, I was more unpleasant because of the heavy atmosphere than scared.
The rest of the film is also unremarkable. Such projects come out in dozens, if not hundreds, annually. The only thing that distinguishes "Nanny" from them is more or less famous actors in the cast. And they didn't really bother with acting. The visual series is also dull, not surprising. A one-time movie. Negative.
If at the beginning of the play they hang a gun on the wall. . .
In the end, the killer is the gardener.
The film masterfully hangs ' Chekhovsky' guns in the first part of the film, and masterfully forgets about them in the second. Why can't children leave the house? Why did Miles, or whatever his name was, befriend the late groom so much, why, why, why? All these puzzles will remain mysteries, because the film will simply forget everything that was shown to us. But I will not forget to show us all the clichés that in one form or another have already worked in more successful paintings of this genre: here you and the sharp inclusion of instruments, and reflections in the mirrors, and what I liked most, almost frame-by-frame quote ' Numbers 1408' in which the main character also seems to escape, and then it turns out that all this is a deception of the viewer.
Absolutely unrepressed cinema: weak both as a drama and as a horror film.
There are only 2 things to praise: a good picture and a nice soundtrack. Otherwise, the film deserves no attention, boring. It is especially unfortunate that in 2020, with the availability of those production technologies of films that we have, we can not suspensely surpass the tapes of the 80s, and even their “Scarlets” & #39, which have become clichés, can not apply interestingly, freshly, and at least a little frightening. Disgusting!
Definitely not the best picture I've ever seen. And it’s not that behind my back a huge baggage of quality horror. It is difficult to understand the final, because the ending is bluntly cut off, not even allowing you to take for yourself ' pseudo-final'.
If you evaluate the performance of actors, it is worth noting the game of Finn Wolfhard. The image of a difficult teenager was conveyed completely, and at some points it became alarming (the moment with drums, in the basement, in the maze, in the car in front of the gate). There seemed to be something wrong with him. And still does not let go of the feeling that this is just the case with him. But let everyone decide for themselves who is evil.
At first, the friendliness and openness of the girl is confusing, because I expected that she would just bring the nanny, and I expected not such ambivalence from my brother (excessive love for her sister and hatred for the governess). Then it turns out it's all about ghosts. Who are still walking around the house.
Lots of questions! Why couldn’t the girl walk outside the door? Trauma due to the death of parents? What kind of drawings does a mother send from a mental hospital? Honestly, I thought the governess saw what would happen to her if she stayed, so I decided to go and take the kids with me. It's such a bummer. They decided to make the ending less trivial, but more unpleasant and unexpected, but because it did not get better. It's like no place. Even if we were trying to put an end to the crazy nanny, the psychopathic mothers were clearly not enough. A weak argument to convince us of the correctness and appropriateness of the ending. It seems that the screenwriter with the editor stupidly did not get along and it turned out THIS.
It's a shame that even Finn doesn't save this movie.
If one child gives the action a new turn of the screw, what do you say about two children?
Even before watching the Gothic horror film with notes of drama ' Nanny' attracted attention not by the genre, not by the name of the director, which should be mentioned a little later, and not by the cast, whose actions are also then worth considering. ' Nanny' was interesting because the twin screenwriters Carey W. Hayes and Chad Hayes adapted the film adaptation of the work of an outstanding American writer, however, who lived for a long time in Europe, Henry James, whose work was directly influenced by our native Ivan Turgenev. For many, this name is unknown, but this is only an annoying omission that occurred through no fault of ours, but it is worth saying that for the first time filmmakers used his works back in 1933, and among the famous adaptations of Henry James, it is worth noting the tapes ' The Heir' (1949), ' Innocent' (1961), 'Portrait of a Lady' (1996), 'Wings of the Dove ' (1997) and from the recent 'Divorcement in the Big City (2012'). Could ' Nanny' be included in this powerful list?
Honestly, doubtful. The fact is that rarely representatives of horror films promise the viewer a powerful emotional charge with the effect of 'wow!' except that the tapes of James Wan, Andres Musketti and some adaptations of the great and terrible Stephen King are exceptions, because horrors are pronounced adherents of the mainstream, fiercely despised among critics. And the fact that the director of the film Floria Sidgismondi had numerous experience as a video maker (she collaborated with David Bowie, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Kanye West and a couple of dozen famous pop artists) did not mean that she would be able to create something exceptional at least within the narrow framework of the genre. And the fact that the main role is played by Mackenzie Davis did not promise anything, although she had to ' to wash ' after one of the main disappointments of recent times ' Terminator: Dark Fate' (2019). And one of the most capable young talents Finn Wolfard from the same ' It' from Andres Muschietti on Stephen King could not be responsible for the elders.
And all the sad assumptions, unfortunately, were justified. But let's start now with the good. And the best thing that is in 'Nanny' is its Gothic entourage with the appropriate atmosphere, which was emphasized by the musical accompaniment from Nathan Barr, which, in fact, created the impression that we are in front of a horror film and nothing else. Operator David Ungaro worked hard on the scenes of the screeners, but these scenes were not frequent, rather they were only guests in ' Nanny' rather than being a guide for the viewer to the world of sophisticated horrors according to Henry James. The rest of the timekeeping is reserved for the contemplation of the unstable relationship of the main character named Kate (as you understand, she is played by Davis) with the angry, unbred, pampered offspring of rich parents Miles (Finn Wolfard), who seems to test the strength and endurance of his nanny. The child constantly invents something, behaves disgustingly, heats up the atmosphere and it clearly brings him pleasure, grows a real sociopath. Or is it just another little boy possessed by an evil spirit? But it's not all that obvious.
Thus, it turns out that Floria Sidgismondi, with the participation of the operator and the technical group of decorators, was able to create the necessary entourage concept, which is visually attractive, but eternal tantrums, coupled with the cruel amusements of the vile Miles, frankly, are annoying already on the second stage with the appearance of the hero Wolfhard, and rare screamers are not able to eclipse the long internecine rivalry of Kate and Miles. So Sigizmondi was enough for some five-minute segments, exactly similar to those clips, of which she shot in huge quantities. With all the abilities of Mackenzie Davis, who was decisively good, for example, in the melodrama ' Tully' (2017), but in ' Nanny' the actress showed nothing, playing extremely static, as if she could not recover after all the same ' Terminator: Dark Fate' (2019), where a demonstration of pronounced masculinity was required. Davis now needs to be careful about selecting projects to regain his reputation, and two consecutive failed roles can have a bad impact on career development. But Finn Wolfard proved that he has a huge potential, but let’s see how he developed it and will not remain in the ranks of those actors who were at the height of fame in their younger years, and the transition to adulthood with the same successful positions did not take place.
I can only conclude that 'Nanny' not the worst representative of the genre of Gothic horror, but besides that for a one-time viewing and then with great desire he hardly deserves. And acquaintance with one of the most outstanding writers of the turn of the XIX and XX centuries, Henry James at least on the screen versions of his works should not take place with ' Nanny', there are more worthy cinematic works.
The horror film “Nanny” was released in Russian hire on January 23, 2020. Directed by Floria Sigizmondi.
In the roles: Finn Wolfhard, Mackenzie Davis, Brooklyn Prince and others.
Mystical horror called “Nanny” plunges into the unknown world of domestic ghosts. The plot of the film takes place in a Gothic manor filled with heavy, negative energy. This ghostly room is the place of work of the main character - nanny Kate Mandell, where every day spent with "heavy" children - Flora and Miles, will turn into hell for her. But what does the ending show? Of course, it's hard to guess. After all, the ending of the film itself is ambiguous.
The script of the film is not quite developed and completed to the end: there is no such full-fledged beginning and outcome of events. The beginning is misleading, and especially the moment when the mother of innocent children dies, who later become “monsters” in the eyes of the new nanny. Here, a few questions immediately arise: where was my mother going in the tragic moment, and who caused her death? It remains a mystery... Which does not immediately lead by the hand of the viewer to the place where such acute events will unfold.
The second scene does not sufficiently show the young teacher’s life: what was she like as a teacher? What did you do in your free time? Why was she offered a job as a nanny in this castle? And who? These numerous questions are difficult to find an answer, it remains only to guess further events leading to the golden middle of the film.
The ending of the film also leaves much to be desired. It's not clear how it all ended here. What happened to the poor girl? Where did it feel: in reality or in the other world? Perhaps the answers to these questions you can find only in your imagination.
The best moments occur in the “golden middle” of the horror film, where the scenes are represented by the phantom of the dead Quintus, whose image haunts the young nanny, which soon drives her crazy. These scenes justify the genre of the film - horror, which is his trump card.
In general, the project turned out well, except for the “unwritten” scenario. The director partially coped with his task - he helped the audience plunge into the paranormal world of otherworldly creatures and feel what it is like to be a "hostage" of their desires.
I recommend the film to all lovers of mysticism and horror, or those who just want to see what happens to people who agree to work in a mysterious place, wanting to help “cruel” children survive loneliness.
Question: Would you like to review this film? Answer: No. As a horror film - the film justifies itself, but as a "short" script - no.

According to local legends, ghosts live in a mysterious mansion in Maine. This is where Kate arrives to look after two orphans, Flora and Miles. Soon she will realize that the house, like children, hides a lot of dark secrets.
On the news in the TV talk about the suicide of Kurt Cobain (1994), and a young girl Kate (blonde in a red coat) (who has a mother in & #39; home for the insane' paints pictures) gets a job as a nanny for a little girl Flora and her brother Miles in an ancient, Gothic mansion with an intricate park, pond and stable (a typical mansion with ghosts). Flora does not leave the mansion, feels ' something' in this house, and communicates with the doll (a reception for horror), and Miles is a typical hooligan with sadistic tendencies, who keeps a tarantula and who has just been ' kicked out ' from school for ' hooliganism'. 'These children are special: they are purebred!' - says about them another guest of the mansion - the managing mansion of Miss Groves (Barbara Martin), one view of which - already leads ' in goosebumps'. Over time, Kate realizes that in addition to living people in this house, there are also ' Others' - secrets of the past of which - can not find their own ' peace ' and who can radically change her own life.
The film is an adaptation of Henry James's novel "The Turn of the Screw" (1898), and director Floria Sighizmondi creates a certain ' mix' from ' traditions of the past' and modern ' serving' horror (mystery in diaries, ghosts in mirrors and outside windows in the clearing), and David Ungaro's brilliant camerawork (which is important for horror) brings this brilliant story and ' idea' into something amazing and beautiful. Banal ' Acting moves ' in similar thrillers - here are played out strongly and beautifully by Mackenzie Davis (' Blade Runner 2049'), Brooklyn Prince (' Project Florida') and Finn Wolfard (' The Goldfinch ').
Starting as a typical horror from a typical scene, closer to the finale, the film turns into a real ' cube-rubic' with a deep psychology of the characters and what you do not even think about. Mysteries of the past and the present are intertwined in ' tight knot' where 'mask of courage' - here clearly no one will hurt.
Well, friends, as they say, “I will be brief”: I did not like it. No word at all. And if at first there were still some expectations, then at the end of the film there were more questions than answers.
I’ll be honest: I haven’t read the book, I haven’t seen the previous film adaptations and I didn’t understand anything from this picture. What do we know about the main character? What do we know about her mother, why does she exist in the film? Why would a girl have to die if she went outside? And what, in the end, happened in the finale, which is crumpled and confused to ugliness?
Speaking of the estate: such a chic house could be beaten better, and then he has a feeling that exists separately from all the action, aki flies from cutlets. It's a pity he's good, very good.
As for me, the only one who decorated this film (except at home) was Finn Wolfhard, who perfectly coped with a rather serious role and showed a whole life tragedy of the character. Baby Brooklyn Prince is also good, but for some reason you do not feel sympathy for the main character, although there are no claims to the game of Mackenzie Davis. Weird. In addition, I would like to positively note the absence of various “boos” in the film: it is not scary to watch at all, but this is a plus in any case.
In total, the film from me receives a proud three points, and I recommend watching only if you want to sleep soundly: you will fall asleep before the final.
This movie had every chance of being good. The trailer was so dark, mysterious, promised a juicy entourage of the 90s, mixed with Gothic and seasoned with mysticism and a delicious touch of secrets, but... It wasn't here. The film brought complete disappointment and made me feel not very distant person in view of the fact that I had to revise the ending three times and I would not understand it if I did not read the retelling of the story, which was inspired by the creators.
What's wrong with this movie? Let's take the setting first. The story was written in the 19th century, so the entourage of the old Gothic estate with magnificent gardens, ponds and a labyrinth of rooms is understandable. I don't know why the '90s got stuck there. Apparently, only because of the hype raised by “Very strange things” and “It”, but there the atmosphere of the 80s directly influenced the plot, characters, was a separate character, here it is just a given and strange outfits of the main character. I didn’t like the way the house was shown. The authors failed to immerse us in its atmosphere, they did not take advantage of the magnificent rooms. Unlike The Ghost of Hill House and Winchester. The house that built a ghost here is just a house, but it is somewhere in the background.
There's no heroine. Looks like a pretty girl, but you don't like her, you don't know her story. Who is she? Where did she work before, why did she decide to devote her life to these children? Who hired her? We see her mom, but we don't know what's wrong with her. Character disclosure is zero. No backstory. She's a governess, but she doesn't teach kids anything in the whole movie, which makes it seem like she's not a teacher at all. Why did such wealthy people decide to hire her?
Against the background of no governess, the situation with the characters could have been saved by children, but this was not the case. If little Flora is still a way to elicit some kind of response in her heart, Miles is no good. It is not sharply negative, but not positive. Despite the fact that the actor I adore for his past roles, here it is boring to watch him - well, he does not pull on a heavy teenager. The only one who plays at least somehow is the old housekeeper, but it is too few.
The movie is frankly boring, the actions of the main character are strange - why not lock the bedroom doors so that a concerned teenager does not bother at night, why not go to stupid children's games and pranks? A lot of banalism and despondency, no suspense, from the end you do not expect anything special, and it turns out. That's just a strange and selection of the final frames plunged me into open anger and contempt for the creators - what was it?
In short, the film is not necessary to watch. This is not such a slag as the recent “Curse”, can appeal to an inexperienced in this genre viewer, who does not have a large number of suitable mystical horrors behind him, but for me this is another trickster, which in a couple of days and will not remember.
The novel by Henry James & #39; The Turn of the Screw' was many times filmed and almost always films based on it achieved some success with the audience. The directors could adjust the plot at their own discretion, since James’ story was seasoned with a lot of assumptions, because of which each author himself decided how to present events and what to emphasize. In 2020, saw the light of another version 'Rotor Turn', but it can not reach not only the past adaptations, nor especially the novel-source, being another cheap thriller, increasingly disappointing to the final.
For some reason I do not understand the plot of the film ' Nanny' unfolds in the first half of the 90s, when Kurt Cobain committed suicide. This circumstance does not affect the story at all, and maybe the director wanted to draw some parallels in this way and hint at the mental state of the main character, but in fact it does not matter at all. The entourage of the 90s is also not used to promote the plot, and it is unclear why everything happens specifically in this period. If the authors wanted to avoid using a mobile phone and the Internet, then their absence would be easy to explain even in our time.
The story revolves around a young governess Kate Mundell, who is invited to a luxurious Victorian mansion in order to care for and raise a lost girl Flora. In addition to her, Mrs. Groys, who is engaged in household affairs, as well as Flora’s older brother, Miles, who unexpectedly returned from school, is in the house. With this close company, we have to sit for an hour and a half, and be prepared that for the most part you will just be bored.
Quite quickly, Kate begins to notice strange reflections and terrible silhouettes in the mansion. But who knows what it is. Maybe here registered ghosts, but suddenly with the nanny plays difficult games her imagination, which was spurred by a shaken psyche. On this question, the director invites us to fight ourselves, but when it comes to the finale and two different variants of the incident, there is no desire to think about what is happening here.
It seems ' Nanny' worth $ 14 million and for the category of horror genre, this amount is very good, but the special effects here leave much to be desired. The graphics are completely unexpressive and betray their unpretentiousness at the most inopportune moment. At least the mansion was well filmed and awe-inspiring, as in 'Ghosts of the House on the Hill' Jan de Bonta. But this is not enough to make the film interesting and frightening. Henry James would not have appreciated such a story.
I do not know why and who came up with the idea to rethink again ' Rotor Turn' but it was done in vain. Such great prospects were simply destroyed by a thoughtless approach to the matter.

The grim Gothic story of two children living in an ancient estate and their nanny has been filmed repeatedly and Floria Sigizmondi's film became the thirteenth version of this work. Actions unfold almost in our days (in the 90s of the twentieth century, to be exact).
Young nanny Kate Mandell gets a job caring for 8-year-old Flora, who was left without parents. The girl has an older brother Miles, who the girl also has to look after. Starting from the very first night in a large estate, Kate begins to overcome terrible visions and every new day in the walls of the mansion turns into a nightmare.
One of the positive episodes of the film is the director’s claim to a Gothic atmosphere. Sidgismondi managed to convey it well. Although if we take into account the antiquity of the mansion and the presence of old interior items in it, Gothicity should be striking. But still these creaky stairs, dim lighting, leaving dark and creepy corners out of sight, gray dull weather with no less depressing landscapes outside the windows, a garden launched in the absence of the owner and a dense sinister forest behind the fence - in terms of creating the necessary "cinema" “Nanny” is well implemented and is ready to provide the viewer with a portion of gloomy shots. The overall picture is added by the tough and demanding housekeeper Miss Grose, which is the very focus of British mannerism and restraint and adds to the overall picture of black and white tones. In a similar manner, the heroine Mackenzie Davis is also represented, always dressing like a 60-year-old lady in dresses with caps.
I’m sure that the story describes and tells everything that the film tried to show, but did it very superficially, saying “A” and not getting to “B”. The topic with the heads of dolls in the fountain in the greenhouse, in many ways the manic behavior of Miles, the adequacy of which you doubt at each of his next antics, the explanation of why 8-year-old Flora can not leave the estate – these, like many other questions, the director simply does not answer, although these aspects ultimately could affect the interpretation of the finale.
Most of the events associated with the participation of Finn Wolfard makes it possible to evaluate him as a child-devils, who, due to the solid status of his name, can do what he wants (this boy-major). This is misleading, leading the viewer in the wrong direction. And such episodes as a threat in the interior of the car and even enhance this effect. As well as the presence of Flora on the poster, where the girl has a rather heavy look. It may be thought that everything is different with her than with ordinary children and that she is Evil. This is also misleading, as well as the words of the housekeeper about the girl that she is not.
Sigizmondi tries to focus on the constantly deteriorating condition of the nanny, who increasingly loses her temper and breaks down. But for the sake of justice - few nurses will be able to remain steady and calm in those situations when children just brought her.
The director did not find a way to separate the illusion from reality, so that the viewer had at least some opportunity to understand or think about how it ended. In this regard, the display of two endings, going one after another looks like we were given the final to the farm, they say, which one you want and choose. And based on the ending, in the end, an idea of the events shown earlier should have been formed.
The creators of “Nanny” seemed to decide to flirt with the viewer and deliberately misled him, passing out real facts as unreliable and vice versa. However, it turned out that the viewer had to get confused in the mixture of madness emanating from the actors and try to understand the true causes of what is happening. The final, as already written above, did not give answers, as he continued the dual interpretation of everything that happened earlier.
Given the rather solid for horror budget (14 million dollars), in the film there is an incomprehensible attempt to apply computer graphics, which resulted in vague blurred images that clearly do not pull on serious investments. Of course, it may be expensive to rent an estate where the shooting took place (probably not so).
Films about old mansions, in which some kind of devil is happening, where something chilling blood once happened, are not enough today. Of the latter, the Winchester appears in memory. The House That Ghosts Built, as well as the earlier Ghost of Hill House, and the Red Rose Mansion. I wish I had more. And better.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Floria Sigizmondi's "nanny" is apparently inspired by the classic novel "The Rotor's Turn." And, of course, great importance for the atmosphere of the film was played by Gothic cinematic works: from a grandiose soundtrack and gloomy scenery to strange sexual shades - a quite ambitious view of claustrophobia and the concept of a thriller, in particular. On the other hand, “Nanny” came out incredibly fuzzy: a curious, at first glance, thriller-horror-detective-drama quickly falls apart under the onslaught of boredom and ambiguous psychological insinuations that undermine storytelling itself. In other words, the tension in the “Nanny” is desperately lacking and what in the wrong hands would seem provocative, in this picture looks mundane and ... banal.
Governant teacher Kate moves to a large mansion to raise seven-year-old Flora, suffering from psychological trauma due to the death of her parents. The former nanny, by the way, left the country due to mysterious circumstances. The Gothic estate has its own dark secrets locked in cold walls. The house is also home to a housekeeper who does not facilitate Kate’s career growth. Terrible whispers at night and terrible visions do not scare the brave girl, but the nerves will be tested for strength by Flora’s 15-year-old brother Miles, who unexpectedly returned from boarding school. Soon it is Miles, a capricious and spoiled teenager, who will begin to spread rumors about ghosts.
The Nanny had a significant role model - Jake Clayton's Innocents in 1961. The creators added one important and, probably, slightly piquant detail – the conflict between two female forces became central in the Nanny. The characters in Kate and Mrs Grose's servants are illustrations written in broad strokes. In general, Nanny is a very conditional film, in which they wanted to add very difficult themes, but only scratched the surface: women can really go crazy if they are not believed; or the topic of the inner denial of supernatural irrational things. The dynamics of the relationship was supposed to be the paramount feature of the “Nanny”, but can not be considered as a point of support of the film: the boredom of the narrative and the pull of weight instead of clarifying the relationship strongly beats the floor of the impression.
The creators also tried to play on the sense of suspense and yet even it was styled with some tasteless effect. Attention to detail gave way to minor trifles: no atmosphere and no anxiety. The aesthetic play of light and shadow has been replaced by some gray paleness. Psychological components? They were also replaced by an icy and procedural development.
As for acting, the rather complex (in theory) character of Caitn actress Mackenzie Davis, alas, reduces to one-dimensional “scream queen”. This may have been a multi-faceted idea by the writers, sort of updating the story of “The Rotor’s Turn” to the spring of 1994 (the only significance of which is the report on Kurt Cobain’s suicide at the beginning of the film), but it is necessary to be honest – Davis just cheated. Our favorite kid from Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard, seems to have found nothing to do with his image either, so he had to strip Miles of texture and shade. The situation only saves Brooklyn Pierce, reminders, for some reason, about his role in the “Project Florida”.
Despite a talented cast, a slightly thick atmosphere and a good production design, "Nanny" suffers from a sluggish plot and climax, the time of which comes at the most unexpected moment. It seems that talented people were involved in the shooting, but to what extent the film is smug and untidy! All this falls into one plot hole after another and the ambiguous final sequence of scenes is likely to upset the audience, accustomed to the search for deep meaning. “Nanny” in the end is a weak film, which they decided to make incomprehensible in order to patch up some of the narrative flaws, i.e. by putting on the robes of Nolan’s “Inception” or Amenabar’s “Others”. The audience, however, is unlikely to have a feeling from the category of " what we just looked ?", but ... this is the way.

Not everyone in their right mind and mind can see this miracle. It seemed that the genre of horror lately brings surprises, but this at first glance, and so far only Blumhouse is popular. This is different.
Director Floria Sigizmondi intends to make a high-quality project, saturated with a lifeguard. But all we see is old tricks filled with slow-mooding kids. And the secrets of the house, which will have to reveal the young and inexperienced nanny Kate, pull her not the bottom. All right, mom's sick and a lot of debt. But if you see that the work is not going well, it may be worth changing, despite the promise. And even when you hope that ghosts will appear from the mirror, or the hysteria of the heroine will finally drive her to the grave, since she still does not give up, courage on her face and go! Moreover, having taken up an in-depth study of the diaries of employees, it was necessary to leave immediately. Or when I called my friend.
McKenzie Davis, although not much, but rehabilitated after a failed sixth & #39;Terminator' Hairstyle, a la Charlize Theron to her face.
Finn Wolfard grew up, but here, despite previous works, shows not so much the game as a selfish boy, noble blood, suffering from puberty.
Despite her young years and 10 years of age, Brooklyn Prince has already managed to appear with Willem Dafoe in 'Project Florida', starred in the role of a scary horror girl in the bathroom (this is what I wanted to see in the film!) and plus the director of the short film Colours. It's fucking simple, and I'm not just saying this from overflowing feelings, but I'm also amazed at how childhood Hollywood is gaining momentum. Children are rapidly taking over the film industry. On the one hand, it is frightening, on the other, a little happy. Throughout the film, she tried to be a girl, but at the right moment she showed her acting skills.
With these kids, every teacher will go crazy. And then there is also a nanny with a soft-bodied character, which is characteristic of every nanny in the world. And if it were not for the elder, then everything would be nothing. Only ghosts got involved. And the governess ("Barbara Martin"), like a spy scouring for prey. And all this goes so far that you can not escape. Apparently, the director realized that the film loses its horror zest, and added the original ending, so as not to look boring.
At the exit we have an aristocratic picture with a couple of jokes. With such success, Brooklyn could be put in the place of the director. But for many babysitters in the world, this is a great way to rethink your profession.
