When I saw this film, I was 22, I had 5 fingers on my hands, in the village my grandmother had 15 ducks and 1 rabbit that died out, 22+10+15-1=46/2 = 23! Oh, horror!
Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes. And potatoes have 48. Does this mean that potatoes are smarter than humans because they don’t clean their brains with the number 23?
Shakespeare was born on 23 April 1564 and died on 23 April 1616. No one really knows when Shakespeare was born and died - these dates were invented for convenience. With Pushkin, by the way, the number 23 does not match well. Does this mean that the number 23 does not affect the curly number?
There are 23 species of crocodiles. And only 2 species of panda. Does this mean that the panda is harder to use in Egyptian mythology?
Kurt Cobain was born in 1967 (1+9+6+7=23) and died in 1994 (1+9+9+4=23). Freddie Mercury isn't. Does that mean the number 23 doesn't like gay people?
These and other issues deal with the film “The number 23”, which Russian distributors, in order to add the name of the suspense, called the “Fatal number 23”.
Obviously, Jim Carrey was cramped in the comedy back in the 90s and he was looking for roles that could tear him away from the clingy Masks. He succeeded, and from the late 90s he successfully alternated diligent comics in the hits of Farrelly and Shadyak with brilliant tragicomic and dramatic works in films of outstanding masters, like Weir and Foreman. Almost immediately it became clear that Kerry is a fast-growing and deep actor, capable not only of the role of caricature losers, villains and idiots. And, perhaps, even more so - almost the main actor of his generation, who made the most amazing metamorphoses in his career, to which Pitt, and Cruz, and Cage are far away.
Having played roles that any actor can be proud of, in the early 2000s, Carrey again found himself at a crossroads. And he got a role in the thriller Schumacher. If you do not remember Batman and Robin, Schumacher is a very good director, who is very good at creating an alarming and alluring atmosphere on the screen, psychologically accurate and truthful portraits, and finding the “dark side” in good people.
Skillful Schumacher and brilliant Kerry, beautiful Madsen, not very large, but quite suitable for the genre film budget, not uninteresting theme of obsession with numerology, quite exciting plot. Perhaps Fernley Phillips, writer-debutant, in this slender chain was the weakest link. Of course, the producers and the director are primarily responsible for the film, they approve the script, they are responsible for the editing, they are the reason for the density and poisonous saliva, which critics spat on this picture.
The number 23 is not a bad movie. It has great moments, sometimes the tension is pumped very skillfully, the actors in most shots do not fail and perform their tasks, effectively acidic tones create the necessary film unpleasant, repulsive color . But all this works only halfway. One of the problems of the film, which is often found in thrillers and horror films, is that they try to seem smarter than they are, diligently leave their genre, deceive the viewer.
Not so complicated intrigue Schumacher all the time tries to pass off as such a secret, such a secret , all the time winds up, confuses, loops, and as a result puts the usual fig in his pocket, well learned from Shyamalan opuses. Schumacher has nothing to say , and this is very clearly seen. The magic of the number 23 is not so comprehensive that it is possible to build the entire film, and it remains in the end to twist the tension with ragged editing, pseudo-smart shots and strange characters who commit stupid acts, taking the plot aside.
In the outstanding "I've had enough!"" there was no need for any ragged montage and painted 23 rooms to make the nerves tremble like strained strings. There was a real anxiety, coming from the thirst for human justice, from sympathy for the hero, from how playfully the private grew to the size of the common and touched each viewer. The problem with Number 23 is that it only tries to seem tense, and creates this tension with lighting, scenery, costumes, but not with the inner content and the intelligible story. It is as if you were given a book with a vampire on the cover, under which “Kolobok” would be hidden.
In Number 23 there is nothing fatal, devilish, philosophical. Attempts to bring the banally stupid twitching with numbers to something planetary, fateful and macabric are doomed to failure - the film swims too fine, and the fuss with numbers does not captivate, but rather annoys with fake seriousness.
It is as if the viewer were shown a finger and said, "See, finger?" 'Well, finger and what?' 'How is that? It's a finger! Paaalets! P-A-L-E-C! That's what he is! And poke them in the face of the listener, until he begins to suspect that the owner of a "special" finger from a special - only problems with the head.
In addition, the film lame in the dynamics and repeatedly sags due to its unstructured and unassembled. As for Kerry, he is trying very hard, but the problems of his character seem so far-fetched that it is a stretch to compassion. But he could make the film ironic and deep, but, apparently, the text did not imply anything like this and in the end it turned out simply boring and impossibly pretentious.
With its aesthetics, the picture gravitates to Fincher’s 7, but Schumacher and Kerry simply do not have enough material to cure the film from script impotence. They are trying to save it with the gloomy “neonuricity” of the frame, attention to detail, unusual angles, painful scenery, but, in general, the picture appeals to the belief of viewers in the number 23 and it takes a lot of faith for this film to become truly “paranoid” as it was dubbed in the advertising campaign. If you give in to all this schizophrenia, then perhaps the gullible viewer will really blow the roof off. It is bad that it is better not to subject the film to a detailed analysis - there is a risk of stumbling upon a bunch of logical inconsistencies and absurdities that will instantly worsen the attitude towards it.
However, critics took the picture too seriously. They were not offered a new Shining (although critics once tried to destroy the Shining), and it is unlikely that a grand success was planned. The film worked normally in its niche, there are actually many such films, the problem is rather inflated expectations, pushed by people like Schumacher, Kerry and Madsen. It seems that such an unusual bundle was supposed to give rise to something unique, and cooked edible porridge, which, unfortunately, is sure that it tastes as good as it looks.

(About the 40th minute of the film)
Fatal number 23
Jim Carrey plays a stray animal capture officer, yes, right before his eyes immediately pops up Ace Ventura, a-hee-hee. There is nothing funny about Schumacher’s film. Sad sight.
Thriller (visually very stylish) with a dramatic layer. So, the hero Kerry (whose name is Walter) gets into the hands of the book. The most interesting thing is that this book is a kind of mirror image of Walter’s real life.
In the book, the story is about the cool detective Fingerling (all the same Jim Carrey, i.e. he has two roles at once). Fingerling is haunted by the number 23. Walter can’t stop reading, and he’s going crazy (sees the number 23). Trying to find out who wrote the damn book.
The film has a rather high rating on the KP. That's a dozen. I suspect a lot of moviegoers adore Jim Carrey. I love Kerry myself. Brilliant comedian and tragic. However, “Fatal Number 23” did not impress me. Why? Even if you kill, it is hard to believe in this concept (especially to get high from it).
That there is a mysterious number that constantly comes out. Guys, our world is full of coincidences. The ceiling example. I’ve seen the book of blood before. It was based on Barker’s Blood Books. In the collection was the story “Forbidden” (Candyman). Who starred in the 1992 film Candyman? Virginia Madsen.
Who plays Jim Carrey's wife in the movie "Fatal Number 23"? Virginia Madsen. You know? Coincidence (or I'm being pursued by Michael Madsen's sister, a-hee-hee). Seriously, absolutely any number can haunt a person. You just have to want to. Ask yourself a few numbers and look around. I assure you, you will meet them quickly.
It's not about numbers, it's about people. I am glad that Schumacher still went on this path (as he could).
I liked Carrey as Walter, but I didn’t like him as Fingerling. I'm not saying that Jim was bad at it [the brutal alpha male]. Nothing like that, Carrey was in vain nominated for the infamous Golden Raspberry Award. It's just not his role. It happens.
And the ending here is predictable. Therefore, I will refrain from enthusiastic reviews. For Schumacher - a strong middle, nothing more.

How to turn your life into a search for the secret signs of fate
“Numbers are just numbers, but if you think they make sense, you’ll always find it,” the film says.
In short, this is a story about driving yourself to paranoia.
A young guy gets his hands on a book about a mysterious number, and he finds that it is present in his life literally everywhere.
I thought: you can reduce all the events of your life to any number, you just need to master simple mathematical techniques. But the main idea of the film is not as superficial as it might seem at first glance.
The film showed how an obsession can deprive a person of reason. The protagonist becomes so obsessed with the number 23 that he ceases to distinguish between the real world and the world of his sick fantasies.
During viewing, emotions go off the scale: first you mock the main character because he attaches importance to too banal things and finds this fatal number in them, and then you begin to worry because he is so fond of it that he brings himself to a paranoid state.
It is frightening to realize that sometimes in real life crazy ideas take over the human mind.
By the way, the main role in this film went to Jim Carrey. It is very unusual to see him in such a role, but we must pay tribute to his acting skills: he played really cool.

Strongly sagging in the middle, but insanely interesting at the end of the film.
In our culture, there is no cult of numbers '23', so we cannot fully assess the coolness of the film and in general the theme of the number is not particularly disclosed in the film. Yes, this number is constantly mentioned there and there are many references to it, but it does not play a key role in the film, which is rather sad, but not fatal, because despite this, the plot in the film is good.
You will be waiting for a ton of unexpected turns, accompanied by the beautiful performance of Jim Carrey in the unusual role of a serious family man. And although the film does not claim to be the best and there is nothing innovative in it, nevertheless, some plot twists will surprise you and in general the film has atypical moments for most cinema.
Personally, I was very pleased that the family of the hero, as is customary, did not consider the head of the family a crazy psycho, but on the contrary helped him ' investigate the case ' and trusted him throughout almost the entire picture. It makes the movie stand out from the rest. In general, there is a very large concentration of adequate characters, even despite the schizannost of the main character, but even it looks adequate and does not happen from scratch, which is very pleasing. There was no nagging about the motivation of the characters or stupid actions.
The shooting is quite pleasant, although superfluous in the picture abound, in fact, the timekeeping could be very much reduced, at the will of the director. A huge number of bed scenes clearly do not affect the plot, bored and in general did not understand why they are needed here.
I highly recommend watching, but this movie is not for everyone. We need to prepare for the fact that most of the film will be very boring, but the last half an hour will prove that it was not for nothing. Attention when watching is welcome, as there are a lot of small details and only a complete immersion in the film will help you fully feel and understand each moment completely.
“She didn’t understand, and that was wonderful because I didn’t understand either.”
A dog catcher (by the way, I first meet a representative of this profession in a movie) receives a book from his wife, which surprisingly reminds him of his own life. The first thought - it is urgent to read it to the end, the second - is it worth it? In general, against the backdrop of striking coincidences, the hero slowly but surely becomes obsessed with the book and the number 23, while we sit and see what the obsessions lead to.
Strangely, with my love of mysticism and surprising coincidences, the whole theory of the number 23 seems godlessly far-fetched to me. I guess that's why I didn't really get into it. Against the background of obsessive ideas and outright obsession, I already gave up on the film, but after watching the ending, I changed my mind. For this genre, the film ended just fine.
What you can’t take away from the movie is the atmosphere. First, a light suspense with a touch of drama, which slowly but surely turns into an obsession, with which the pace of the narrative increases. Music, colors - very stylishly done.
The best role of Kerry in the movie is, of course, not called, but in the frame he looks decent.

It is said that all coincidences are by no means accidental, and if you delve into the problems of a particular issue, you can notice miraculously emerging facts that clearly hint at the fact that Providence itself is playing with us in some unimaginable game, to understand the true motives of which most likely will never work. Having given such reasoning, many eminent numerology began to notice extraordinary and extremely strange coincidences concerning the seemingly standard and not suspicious number 23. If you add together the numbers that make up the date of death of the ocean liner Titanic, we get the same 23. The researchers also noted that the date and hour when the Americans dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, when adding the numbers, is again 23, and this is actually only the tip of an imaginary iceberg that leads us to the same element. According to statistics, the greatest number of evidence of people meeting with aliens was on the 23rd, the landing of astronauts of the space program “Apollo” on the moon occurred at 23 degrees east and west latitude and, finally, the angle of inclination of the Earth’s axis is still the same 23 degrees. Such a series can be continued almost indefinitely, and it was once seriously interested in the writer William Burroughs, who noticed that most of the disasters he saw occur with the involvement of the number 23. His friend, the captain, sailed the sea for 23 years and knew no trouble. The day after that, he was in a wreck. That same evening, Burroughs heard on the radio that a plane crashed in Florida with a flight number of 23. Intrigued by such non-random coincidences, Burroughs wrote one of his most famous stories, entitled 23 Skidoo, and since then, one of the most non-trivial numbers of numerology has continued to capture the minds of intrigued researchers who are trying to understand why our world is so insistently dependent on a single number. Occupied this question and screenwriter Fernley Phillips, who wrote the script of the film “The Fatal Number 23” and interested them at once two iconic filmmakers, namely director Joel Schumacher and actor Jim Carrey.
Directly the plot of the film introduces us to a modest employee of the service for catching stray animals Walter Sparrow (Kerry), who tries to perform his duties and not get involved in unnecessary trouble. Like any other person, Walter has his own peculiarities, but so far he has managed to keep himself in control and not go beyond the boundaries that separate him from the various kinds of psychopaths and sociopaths who belong in closed hospitals. However, once Walter’s wife, Agatha (Virginia Madsen) gives him an intriguing novel “The Number 23” for his birthday, which with each page read more and more carries the hero into his gut and makes him look at life in a completely different way. Noticing in his life simply striking coincidences associated with the number 23, Walter gradually becomes obsessed with it and believes that what happened in the book is associated with the figure of the author of the novel. Deciding that his impromptu investigation should be completed, Walter gets involved in an ominous adventure that can turn into truly shocking discoveries for him, after which it is simply impossible to remain the same.
The main premise of the given story is that each person is essentially guilty of his own troubles, and if he becomes obsessed with something, then some internal prerequisites led to this, while external stimuli became only a catalyst for what had been disturbing the individual for a long time, and until some time was in a sleepy state. Undoubtedly, the number 23 and the oddities and crazy coincidences associated with it are the perfect motivation for conspiracy theorists and researchers. But in the example of the very strange and controversial protagonist of this film, we clearly see that in some cases the obsession with numbers, or any other object, idea, or even a person, leads to frankly bad, even frightening consequences. Having got his hands on a book that provokes a painful fantasy, Walter Sparrow literally before our eyes turns from an average American tired of monotonous life into a maniac who chases the number 23 and does not really understand why he should follow what is written in the book. But sometimes our consciousness plays games so sophisticated, obsessed that common sense becomes something burdensome, repulsive and seems to exist in a parallel reality. And the filmmakers managed to demonstrate to us in a rather shocking and at the same time enticing form the moral and psychic transformations of the hero, who with each passing minute becomes more and more entangled in himself and understanding what is happening around him. And at a certain point in history, Walter no longer needs the book to notice the oddities surrounding him from all sides. The main thing is that the seed of terrible paranoia is sown in his mind, and then he will think everything out himself. And the worst thing is that no one can feel completely safe next to him, since there is nothing worse than a person who can cross the line at any moment.
Flirting with the intricacies of a damaged mind and digital illusions, Joel Schumacher did not miss the opportunity to reveal in his film the noir style, which came in handy here. Dark landscapes, fatal beauties, deep-thinking, slightly insane reasoning and an abundance of bed scenes turned this detective thriller into a stylish, spectacular spectacle, which seems to gradually dissolve in a cigarette haze. Without a doubt, Schumacher had a passion for what he did, and the most interesting thing is that Jim Carrey fit perfectly into his plans, continuing to periodically surprise viewers with his dramatic transformations. However, along with the noir in the film came some moments that are not the best way reflected in the plot and perception of the story as a whole. Having a fascinating plot and a complex title character, the director often goes into savoring the chosen style, which affects the dynamics of the narrative. In addition, the excessive abundance of completely unnecessary bed scenes also does not benefit the film, as it is completely unjustified. And although such nuances are not critical at all, but they leave a certain aftertaste, unable to make the film impeccable in its genre.
In the end, I want to say that “Fatal Number 23” has a certain number of shortcomings in its asset, but for all the controversial moments, Joel Schumacher turned out to be mostly refined, maybe a little rough in some places, but still an intriguing spectacle that plays well with paranoia and shows that we are responsible for what happens to us, and therefore it is necessary to choose the right path while it is still possible.

I don’t understand people who didn’t like this movie.
All the time sitting in suspense and not missing anything, the film really keeps in suspense. And that ending, honestly, you don’t expect.
Walter gets his hands on a strange book. At first, he takes it for “nonsense”, but gradually the book drags him on. Reading it – bright stories float in his head, it seems to him that they are from his life. The book took power over him, he sees a certain connection with the main character, everywhere the mysterious number 23 is seen. Walter finally goes crazy and begins to look for a writer, because only he will be able to give answers to all questions.
It is not customary to see Jim Carrey in such a role, as only his comedic roles in films are remembered. But this role also suited him, damn well conveyed the emotions of his character.
I would also like to note how the director presented reading Walter’s book – immediately immersed in a detective comic. Many scenes, however, ridiculous, but it is even more immersed in the fantasy world of Walter ... just he represents everything.
What did this movie give me? “Digits are just numbers, but if you think they make sense, you’ll always find it.”
“There is no fate, there is only a choice” – in my opinion, this is genius!
The film is strong, leaves impressions, definitely not boring, but not 100 out of 100.
You should not look if you are set up for something light and shallow.
I think the movie was disappointed because I expected more. The title of the film gives you the feeling that you are now immersed in the world of an incredible conspiracy of the universe against a person with paranoia, after which you will see 23 everywhere for a long time, convincing yourself that these are all coincidences.
But the dive didn't happen. All the examples are clearly tortured and far-fetched, I can’t believe that the main character is really so easily obsessed with not the most amazing story set out in the book. There are a lot of questions. For example, why is the main character so slow to read this slim book (literally a chapter a day) if it grabbed him so hard? Why is it so easy for a son to follow his father? So the hero has no problem with being left alone against the world with his “idea”? Why does the professor kill himself? Why does the wife and son stay with the father after everything that happens to him?
The play of the actors leaves much to be desired, Jim Carrie’s attempts to play a sexy fatal man seem ridiculous, and the plot lacks heat.
What kills most is that the movie’s main “surprise twist” has nothing to do with the number 23.

The film ' The fatal number 23' was postponed for a very long time ' for later ' but as it turned out, it definitely deserved to see. Personally, I did not regret the time spent, although he did not raise any important questions and thoughts.
Some people thought it was too long... This film is really for a patient audience. But if you consider yourself such and like psychological thrillers with catharsis, you will hardly regret it.
Jim Carrey
Almost all of his roles echo the eccentricity of the characters and they can be said ' not of this world ' Like many here, for a long time I knew Jim exclusively as a comedy actor, until I became acquainted with the pictures ' The Eternal Sunshine of the Pure Mind' and 'The Truman Show' in which he proved himself as a brilliant actor, showing that he was not a hostage of roles and unrestrained curves.
Game of actors
Since he was watching solely because of Carrey, he was mostly the one he watched on the screen. Once again, he didn’t disappoint me, and once again he just got used to the role. The rest of the actors were equally convincing, without falsehood and played perfectly. This has largely influenced my assessment.
Picture and sound
Operating moderately (and confidently) adds stress. In some places there is an unloved by me ' trembling camera' but very appropriate and did not cause irritation. Epileptic storyboards were not noticed, until the very end, in which everything looked quite organic. In general, the film looks quite comfortable, the desire to close your eyes does not cause. The soundtrack is on the same level, but in 'noir scenes' sometimes strained with its overload.
And finally the plot
Very interesting and really unpredictable. It should be noted that some plot moments were thrown only in order to confuse the viewer more, but this does not cut the eye, especially at the first viewing. Innumerable ' turns ' there are no, there are exactly as many as this picture needs.
Many here and there declare the stupidity of the described in the film ' obsession' 'So what, what, 23? You can find it everywhere, just like any other number. It's all paranoia.' To be fair, these questions already contain the answer: yes, damn paranoia! After all, the main character is not quite normal, which very soon catches the eye of any viewer, and in the final. . .
Trying to do without spoilers, I note that most of all I was confused by such loyal behavior of the rest of the family and even their active participation. In fact, I think it would be a little different, especially considering the past. This ' inconsistency' with reality somewhat blurred the impression. Perhaps the family in the script is superfluous. . .
I was looking for horror, something typical, moderately tense, and found a real gem of the thriller genre (in my opinion). Special also in the fact that in it so, I would say, painfully and truthfully performed familiar in the comedy genre Jim Carrey.
The film is built on the contrast of the everyday life of an ordinary person, whose life turned out differently and more gray than he wanted - and his unincarnated role, the gloomy, criminal everyday life of the hero of the novel, which is read by the same ordinary person. The deeper the reading, the scarier and blacker the mirror Walter Sparrow looks into. Paranoia is a terrible thing, I thought, but when it is superimposed on a deep dive into literary schizophrenia, it is even worse. I see the obsession of a man unwittingly living a double life because, strange as it may sound, Providence has ordered it. In his case. The inescapable truth of the past will never leave in peace the one who has sinned in it to the most cruel injustice, which, nevertheless, can be understood.
In fact, the movie is very beautiful. Yeah, yeah, beautiful thriller. The image of a detective in a black cape, in love with a woman from dreams, a detective inspired by his work, rushing around, looking for a certain pattern in hundreds of coincidences and questions - this image strangely cuts into the memory, a separate story about a separate character whose life is filled with madness. Walter Sparrow is a victim of his second self, which has been so thoroughly buried and blocked by reason, but justice and truth exist. Justice in conjunction with conscience and a certain “obedience to the law” and guilt towards itself became the engine of the finale that we can see.
Some mystical attitude towards the world still covers after watching. But do not succumb to it: we all understand that who seeks, he will always find. The problem is that you can find too much, and the chain “accident-coincidence-regularity” with an exhaustive number of links can really drive you crazy. If you do not apply maximum analytics, isolating her abilities from the fog of paranoia.
9 out of 10
I will say at once that I am surprised by such a low rating among film critics, because the film is very interesting and besides in this film Jim Carrey, tried to glory, revealing himself not only as a dramatic and tragicomic actor but also as an actor capable of playing a maniac, a murderer and just a man who is going crazy from the fatal numbers pursuing him. By the way, Jim Carrey’s praise is justified and not biased, because he is very sexy, exciting and dangerous.
In fact, the film is very strong plot, the officer of the service for the capture of homeless animals Walter Sparrow for his birthday was presented with a book-mysterious novel “Number 23”. As a result, the quiet and peaceful life of Walter turns into unbearable agony, which can lead both him and those close to him to the saddest end. The number 23 is to blame. The fact that the novel, which tells about a terrible murder, is a mirror image of the life of Walter.
The film for me from these moments turns into a grotesque story from which goosebumps, mysticism and detective, drama and nightmares turn into a bizarre whirlpool from which the hero of Jim Carrey tries to get out into the normal world without going crazy, while seeing only the number 23.
The film is simply super and I definitely recommend watching it, since it will appeal to absolutely all viewers, lovers of mysticism, drama, thriller, detective and of course actor Jim Carrey.

The master of thriller and the master of comedy is a rather ambiguous mixture, don’t you think? Probably, that’s why Kerry was among the nominees for “Golden Raspberry” – experts did not believe that he could not play in a mystical film.
Fortunately, there was Eddie Murphy, who received a raspberry for “Norbit Tricks”. I loved the movie Number 23 and Jim. It is quite unusual to see him in such a guise. Yes, there were in his acting age and eccentrics ("Ace Ventura") and crazy ("Cableman", "Me, again me and Irene"), but this image he embodied for the first time.
Walter Sparrow, an employee of the service for catching stray dogs, received a book from his wife as a birthday gift, in which the main character gradually went mad, began reading it and eventually realized that the hero of the novel, Detective Fingerling, is very similar to Walter himself, and part of his life is part of Walter’s life. Since that time, in the life of an exemplary family man and a caring father, frightening changes begin to occur to himself and others, and Walter himself turns into a reclusive, obsessed with the book.
Needless to say, if you watch this movie, the number 23 will haunt you for a long time. When the author of this review looked at the “Fatal number 23”, he found out that in his name 23 letters, he received the rights in numbers, if you add up their numbers, making up 23. Passports have the same story. There is not the slightest amount of lies, I assure you. Even today, after reading the story of Stephen King about the escape from Shawshank, wrote out for himself several facts that were indicated in the story and related to the number 23.
Now back to the Joel Schumacher movie. To begin with, I note that it is worth watching it in a certain Russian translation: if you, in the course of the opening credits, are told exhilarating facts about the number 23, then everything is fine, it is worth watching.
It would seem that a single number can capture a person, which either turns out to be a guiding star or will destroy you, incinerating you to the ground. The second case relates to Walter. Together with the hero of Jim Carrey, the viewer will have to overcome many confusing and vague moments and get to the truth, which, by the way, is so hidden that until the very end you do not understand what the essence is.
The interweaving of reality and artistic reality of the book ties knots on a logical thread, offering to plunge into the gloomy existence of the sinister number 23, hanging over the book and real character with a deadly curse.
In the course of the plot, there is not the slightest suspicion that Walter Sparrow may be crazy. On the contrary, all his conjectures are justified, and his faithful wife is becoming increasingly suspicious. And her professor friend is clearly not an ordinary friend, but someone more... But then you start to think that Kerry's character isn't quite normal. And then vice versa. And then you believe again in his mental instability. And so on until the end. This fact cannot but please, because the intrigue twists and keeps in suspense until the very end. In addition, the involvement of Walter’s son in a dangerous game at times is similar to the title of one of the series X-Files – “Madness separated by two” (season 5).
And finally: it is clear that something bad can be associated with any number, however, if you pay attention to the fact that the number 23 “pop up” very often, it becomes somehow out of place.
Enjoy your visit.
I'll tell you right away, I love Jim Carrey very much. He's my favorite actor. In his roles and films, I like his charisma, vitality, funny “curves” and incomparable sense of humor. Although not all films with his participation I like: for example, boring and boring “Always say yes” and the film-king of vulgar humor “Dumb and Dumber”.
And now, unfortunately, they have added the movie “Fatal Number 23”. I had every chance to like the film: I love psychological thrillers, I love Jim, plus I’ve already seen one serious film by Carrey – The Truman Show, which turned out great.
But, after watching, one question arose: "What did the creators of this schizophrenic delirium smoke?" ?
Firstly, an absolutely idiotic plot, without a drop of intrigue. The main character discovers that he is everywhere “followed” by the number 23 (i.e., found in dates, numbers, even name). So what? Did the fact that he noticed it change his life? Did he start having problems in his life? Was he in trouble? Nope. He had everything in his life, and it remained. Then the question is: Why is he screwing up the whole movie and artificially creating some kind of intrigue, well, there would really be a reason to worry, but nothing has changed for him, so he is worried. I would declare 23 my favorite number and that's it.
Secondly, the number 23 itself. Total delusions as it was discovered. The main character notes that the number 23 is associated with the execution of Ted Bundy, the rotation of the moon, blood circulation and other world events. But after all, the main character has nothing to do with these events, why then he again escalates the atmosphere. The number 23 is related to me and everyone else.
But even with the main character. In all the events associated with it, the number 23 is found by mathematical calculus, and some in more than one action. It went something like this: I'm 34 years old, take away the number 10 that I was born into and take away the number 1, so, shock 23, it follows me. That's the whole movie. So 23 can be found in everything you want. For example, today is December 2015 i.e. 12.2015, 5-2=3 and +20=23, oh horror, I am haunted by the number 23. Moreover, sometimes the hero got the number 32, but he said that it is 23 inverted, but again, and if you do not turn over, it turns out that he is haunted by the number 32.
Due to these factors, it was difficult to empathize with the hero or sympathize with him, because he, due to his imaginary fears, ruined his life and ruined happiness. He is not some supernatural power connected with number.
But even without this, the film has drawbacks: It is terribly boring, no intrigue, no intrigue, as in the films of Fincher, it is not.
Another significant drawback is an overabundance of bed scenes. I treat them normally, but when they show how the main character sees his partner, and after a second they make love, without even knowing each other it does not cause good impressions and these scenes are really a lot, the bed scenes here are inserted through the frame: in the living room, and in the park, and in the hallway and again in the living room. From this overabundance, only a sense of disgust comes, not admiration for acting. In addition, in these scenes, Jim is shown as a sexual maniac, which also does not add pride to him.
The disgusting atmosphere and camera work of the film, the feeling that they wanted to remove noir, and in the end there was some set of poorly made shots that they forgot to cover.
And finally, it's a terrible soundtrack. I usually do not pay attention to him, but in this film from the selected music I wanted to cover my ears, so far past with the music got.
Conclusion: I still love Jim Carrey, but the movie “Fatal Number 23” is disgusting and disgusting in every way and I’m sorry that Jim was in it.

P.S. I recently learned that Carrey is starring in another psychological thriller. Apparently, it's not enough. He would have been better off in comedies and making people laugh.
I decided to watch this film for two reasons, the first of which is Joel Schumacher, the second is the non-comedic role of Jim Carrey, of which there are not so many in the creative piggy bank of the artist. Of course, everyone knows the famous curves of Jim Carrey, which became his hallmark. My favorite movies with him are not comedies. This actor is so talented that he can be offered any role. It is good that his film biography has serious films.
The Fatal Number 23 is a thriller and detective drama about a man who read a novel as if written about his life. Walter Sparrow (Jim Carrey) falls out of the present and begins to live the lives of the characters in the book. His main enemy is the number 23, which really has a fatal significance (if you plunge into the magic of numbers, numbers, world events and catastrophes).
This story is a visual guide for those who are obsessed with horoscopes, divinations, numbers and other things related to fate and fate. Of course, everyone’s business, but if you blindly believe in predictions, meanings and interpretations, you can become your own puppet. Living someone's scheme is not so difficult if there is no opinion. Many people find it much easier to agree with the magic of numbers, to find an excuse in them, than to act on their own.
“Fatal Number 23” is a film about the choices that everyone has. Whether to believe in fate, in chance, in coincidences, decide for yourself. You can make a huge sense of anything, and it will work if necessary.
This film will appeal to fans of intricate thrillers with the obligatory solution of all mysteries. I didn’t have enough urgency and dynamism. For the idea of the film, the suffering and the agony of conscience of Jim Carrey I put a good estimate. For me, this is a one-time movie, but it definitely has and will have fans.
P.S. Don’t try to find the number 23 in your life, it won’t end well. And if you can not resist, then give it a value with a plus sign.

I liked the film only with intriguing music, Jim Carrey and high-quality pictures. In the rest, I saw some inconsistencies that clearly betrayed the whole essence and ending of the film.
In terms of music, the creators did not fail, it is really fascinating! Especially the first third of the film was the most intriguing, I was waiting for something unusual and even supernatural.
Jim Carrey is brilliant, he has once again shown that he can play not only a comic character, but also a dramatic one. The whole film was interesting to watch, he tried to keep the viewer with him, but due to the bad plot and script, he did not succeed. Of all the actors, only Jim tried to evoke some emotion in the audience, while the rest of the actors caused nothing.
The plot was predictable after watching a third of the film. It was already clear who wrote this book, because even the relatives of the main character did not know such details of his life. A little strange showed the beginning of the love line between Walter and Agatha. Did Agatha have any questions about his past? The story was too simple.
You can even draw some resemblances between this film and the movie The Machinist, but the Machinist was increasingly thought out, I think. The Machinist does not fully understand the whole point, but in the end everything is clearly explained in detail. In the “Fatal number 23” there is some understatement, after which there are a lot of questions.
The idea of the film was revealed in principle, but some questions about the plot and script of the film still remain.

A kind thriller, which includes good morality and a good atmosphere. The film has some logical and semantic inconsistencies that spoil the impression, but Jim tried his best to make the film quite watchable.
There are many people who are interested in numerology and believe in some magic of numbers, because not just some numbers are called happy, but some allegedly bring bad luck. This same movie isn’t just about love or interest in digital puzzles, it’s about an obsession with the number 23. So, what is hiding the fatal number?
The main character Walter lives an ordinary life, he has a beautiful wife and a teenage son, works as a trapper for homeless animals. So, one day, a naughty dog influenced his fate. Because of the running for the dog, he was late to meet his wife, and she in a long wait went to the bookstore and came across interesting literature, more precisely, the book in the red cover of Number 23. Once Walter was bored and he decided to see what kind of “fiction” acquired his wife and then the story captured him. Reading about the life of the detective, the main character began to notice many parallels with his own life. But the problem began when Walter came to describe his obsession with the number 23 and himself began to stumble upon the fact that the fateful number constantly haunts him.
Honestly, for a long time I wanted to see this tape, because to see Jim Carrey in the thriller is in itself something amazing. Getting used to the comedic roles of the actor, you can think that in a more serious genre and especially mystical, he will not look organic there. But I really liked Carrie in that role, especially when he was a detective. The plot of the film is very confusing, interesting and even scary, because who will not be afraid of such an obsession, bordering on madness. Although the picture seems too bleak, it is understandable that dark colors maintain a mysterious atmosphere, but a bit of brightness could be added. I also didn’t like the way they were shooting, when they were showing the detective story, Carrey was doing some kind of too strong retouch, and they were highlighting it. So in general, the film is not bad, although we can say that it is very strange and even an amateur. And if you do not watch it very carefully, you can very quickly lose the semantic thread. The cast, his play, the script, indeed, these components turned out to be “excellent”. But directorial and camera work, in my opinion, pumped up, and this is also a very important component of any picture.
If you are interested in numbers, love stories about obsession with something, then the film will surely interest you. The main thing is not to get mad at the number 23.

Purely accidentally came across the cover of the film “Fatal number 23” and realized that on this gloomy gray background I see the face of Jim Carrey. By design, it is immediately clear that the film is far from entertaining, but rather frightening. And to see Jim Carrey in a completely opposite role is expensive, so the choice of watching the next film fell on the film “Fatal number 23”.
A random event led to another random event and the main character of the film is no longer who he was before, and suddenly secret secrets are revealed, new personalities appear in his life and new mysteries. The hero has to find out who wrote a strange book, which just accidentally fell into the hands of his wife. What is the number 23 and why does it haunt people? And most importantly, how it relates to everything.
I'm used to seeing Jim Carrey in comedies where it's fun and easy, where he's crooked, he's making weird noises and the mood is lifted. In this case, it was quite the opposite. It's not a comedy, it's a thriller and more than that, which could be even duller, Detective. Well, the main detective of the events will be the hero of Jim Carrey. Honestly, at the first shots with Jim, I subconsciously expected that he would now start joking, that I was about to laugh, but this did not happen, which is why I felt the strongest discomfort.
This film itself is very unusual, bright colors, some moments generally resemble a comic book about a superhero, and Jim Carrey added to all this celebration of extraordinaryness. It was very unusual to watch him in bed scenes because it's so serious, Jim doesn't do that, it's not him. His image of merry never came out of my mind. And the biggest drawback and disappointment is that this image did not allow me to watch the film normally. Thoughts were confused, the expectation of comedy made it difficult to perceive serious scenes. And the worst part was that I always wanted to talk about how Jim worked in that scene, how he worked in that scene. I want to say that the film can be great, even more, first-class. But everything spoils the comedic fame of the main actor.
I really liked the way the film was made, and I liked how the director immersed us in reading that book. It felt like I was reading this work myself, page by page, immersed in all these colors, letters, words. The first scenes when the director took us to the distant past, to the boy who began to play detective. It was fabulous and incredibly beautiful. And also, I noticed that a similar technique, just recently saw in the film “Trees 1914”, which was shot by the Bekmambetov. Thus, it proves once again that everything good is new, it is just the forgotten old.
The story of the main character is intriguing, it forces the viewer to count and look for secret signs, try to unravel everything that is happening. It’s funny, but I started putting together my first name and surname, looking for this number. Maybe it's true, maybe it's a magic number, and it literally surrounds us all. But alas and ah, I was not able to fully immerse myself in this mysterious coincidence, as I found no evidence of the presence of this fatal number around me. The plot is not bad, I want to solve all these puzzles, but still it sags in the moments with the skeleton, or when they found the doctor, and the ending is completely insane. It’s great that the film is moral, that good always triumphs, but I would still like more depth. So that the writers beat the audience, so that the ending was not so predictable.
The film is worth its 7 points out of ten, although it has enough minuses. I don’t think I’m going to revisit it, even though Jim’s track record is so terrific that I’ve watched it 7-10 times. I mean, it could have been much better and more interesting. In the meantime, 7 points.
The plot of the film is quite interesting. A film about how effective self-hypnosis is. Numerology was taken as a basis, and the plot was promoted: the number 23, the mysticism it possesses, its influence on people who are familiar with the power of this number.
It is interesting and unusual that the story in the film begins with the end - this also makes the plot fascinating and intriguing.
Jim Carrey, despite his entire track record and huge talent, is not taken seriously in this film.
I watched another of his works, the film “The Eternal Sunshine of the Pure Mind”, where he also has a dramatic role, not comical, so he succeeded 100%. It fits very well into the story and so the film turned out great.
But in this movie, I felt like Jim Carrey was laughing everywhere, even though the movie was serious. Hence my confusion: it seems that the plot is not bad, it seems that the actors are selected wisely, but what is happening is so not taken seriously that the effect, those goosebumps and sighs that the director intended, does not work out ... And as a result, some scenes are perceived absurd, ridiculous and absolutely unnecessary in this film.
By the way, I would like to celebrate the performance of Virginia Madsen, a very talented actress, at least here she surprised me. But she couldn’t save the movie either.
Hence my 6/10 score. It’s a shame I expected more from this movie.
We were looking for a movie with my brother, looking for a long time, until we came across "Fatal...23". 2 reasons to watch the film. Jim and Joel Schumacher
Jim Carrey, the favorite, chic comedy actor, has not as many similar roles as in "23". Will he be able to show his emotions to the viewer and make him believe? That's what we were interested in.
The script of the film is beautiful, and the implementation is even better. The plot is well twisted, which makes the viewer sit waiting for the denouement. Empathizing, you watch the hero and unconsciously begin to think, “why so?”, “why does everything fit together?” It is almost impossible to predict in advance the action of the hero, I put plus the plot for the unbanality, which is now becoming so little.
Jim Carrey. The Magnificent Jim Carrey. Remembering him since childhood and associating him only with crooked faces and a bunch of favorite comedies, suddenly you understand how we grew up as adults and how Jim grew up in the movies. Great game with burning eyes, with the energy that reigned on this tape. I totally fit into the movie. It was nice to see him in a different role and enjoy the game. Becoming a sexy investigator and a regular doggie has succeeded! You know, I believed him. Virginia Madsen and Logan Lerman looked great next to Carrey and did not spoil the movie. They were quite convincing and did not fall out of their roles.
I think the beginning seemed boring and boring. But later all doubts disappeared and looked in one breath. For this, Joel Schumacher, whom I met while watching such films as “Die Young” and “Phone Box”, gets a huge plus. This is not the last project I have seen.
In the end, we got a beautiful film with an interesting plot development, with the “paranoid” D. Kerry, who I think made believe in the magic of numbers and start looking for it in his life. For which he is highly praised:

“When a man seeks to confirm his paranoid ideas, he always finds.”
Director Joel Schumacher, who has both successful films and complete failures in his luggage, makes a film with Jim Carrey in a completely uncharacteristic role about the rather dubious “magic” of the number 23. The number of contradictions in this proposal may alert you, however, it is these components that attract viewers to the film.
So I decided to look at this picture, You will witness how one randomly gifted book brings to the paranoia of a simple family man and turns his life upside down. In itself, the idea is very interesting, but there are a couple of details that will add that very small spoon of tar.
Let me tell you more about the pros and cons:
Pluses:
1) In general, the picture pleases the eye, and especially pleased moments when the narrative is on behalf of the detective. Excerpts shot in the noir genre are very reminiscent of “Sin City” and they are incredibly beautiful!
2) Anyone who believes that Jim Carrey is only suitable for comedy roles will be wrong. In my opinion, the actor fully coped with his role, and Jim Carrey in the image of Fingerling will probably remain in my memory for a long time.
3) Music. The film is accompanied by unobtrusive, pleasant music, but in tense moments, it changes to alarming, whipps up the atmosphere and perfectly maintains the state of suspense.
(4) The plot itself is not bad, but 23, appearing absolutely everywhere, very quickly bored. And after a while, people begin to think that if you remove any mention of the number 23, the film will only get better.
Here we come to minuses:
1) Frankly, all this “magic” of the number 23 is frankly far-fetched. The hero finds it even in the most inconceivable places and in the most unexpected ways! And in the moments when he says that “32 is the opposite of 23,” the hand involuntarily reaches to the face. I believe that the role of the number in the film could be reduced and left only more or less sane facts.
As a result, we have a very good detective thriller that will capture you from the beginning and let you go only towards the end. Although the film will not give you anything ethically, it is definitely worth watching this film. And even the existing flaws will not greatly spoil your impression of the picture.
And yes. For particularly impressionable people, the film can cause paranoia and the desire to find the number 23 on every corner.

Jim Carrey was one of the first actors to get into my favorites folder in my movie search. Always laughing, crooked and cheering all the audience Jimmy in a dramatic role – this I just could not miss.
I was initially skeptical. We love Carrie for one thing, and it will be shown on the screen quite another. From the very first frames, gloomy and oppressive landscapes overtake a heavy psychological atmosphere. Until Kerry shows up in the second minute of timing. It was one of my favorite actors who became the main drawback of “Fatal Number 23”. Jim just doesn't take the role. Mental anguish, awareness of the past forgotten reality, suspicion of conspiracy and paranoia - all this the actor shows with a stone face. According to the actor’s wrinkles on his face from smiles and eternal laughter, a dramatic tear simply cannot roll. Of course, the actor often showed fans that he can not only crook on camera, but also play normal characters and is quite smart. But the heavy dramatic roles of the actor are not up to the shoulder. Alas.
The plot, taking into account the fact that in fact we have a film about numerology - not bad. The book tells about the life of the hero from a forgotten childhood, paranoia about what is written and what is happening around. If the film had happened to me, I would have just broken down psychologically. But Kerry's not like that. He's fine. Music, landscapes, lighting. It's a heavy pressure on the viewer. But as soon as the focus moves from the background to the main action, it becomes ... nothing. Just no way. No pressure, no psychological depression. And the tension is not felt due to the unflagging supply and sluggish plot twists.
The film has been one of the most controversial for me recently. On the one hand, we get a unique, different story. On the other hand, a boring reader who gives us this very story.

P.S. However, after watching it, I looked with a smile at the check on the table in front of me with the sum of 47p.70cop. (70-47=)
"Fatal Number 23" is a film based on paranoia. One of the most interesting in the film is actor Jim Carrey in a serious role. A comedian in a serious role is clearly worth watching.
About the plot: Have you ever been paranoid? When you read the book, did you encounter it? Imagine, you sat down to read only the book you bought and suddenly began to recognize yourself as the heroes. You start to get the impression that the hero looks too much like you. It’s kind of scary, especially in the case of the character in the movie “Fatal Number 23.” Here is our Walter Sparrow facing such a problem. And he begins to think that this is really his life. Walter strives to feel like a hero and begins to look for the number 23. What scares him most is the sheer number of coincidences. He finds this number in everything... From date of birth to name (translating letters into numerical values) Where's this going? What will cause this paranoia of the number 23? What will happen to Walter? All this is to be seen in the movie.
About the actor: Walter Sparrow is aka Jim Carrey. Jim's acting is amazing. I never thought I would see him in other genres. The role played was successful! Walter looks really paranoid. He himself begins to look for this fatal number in everything. Everything is incredible and the ending of the film is original!
Score: The film can be ranked 7 out of 10. An interesting idea and Jim Carrey with an unusual role for himself. This makes viewing more intriguing. It's a movie worth watching, if only for Jim - to see him in that role is something! You should see it at least once!
I love Jim Carrey and especially, strange as it may seem, his non-comedy work. He is equally good in the image of a clown, and in the image of a mysterious detective, whose body is so successfully dotted with tattoos. When I started watching this film, I couldn’t get rid of the memories of the legendary “Plays of the Mind”. Of course, before the brilliant film, this work grows and grows, but the paranoid desire of the protagonist in deciphering numbers resembles newspaper clippings of the hero Russell Crowe. And let the necessary figure, if desired, you can catch up and reduce almost anything, I easily close my eyes to this idea, since everything else is fine.
Hard obscene film - just what you need for people who are tired of vanilla snot and want to get distracted by something more mundane. A few frank erotic scenes in no way send the picture, but give it the necessary shade of cynicism. The atmosphere is also set by the old home of the character Carea with a shabby sofa and a scrapped table, as the main character in fact is a book called “The Number 23” with a cover that knew better times for itself and pages written in numbers.
The number 23 rules me. When I thought, ‘When is this going to end?’ it was 23 minutes away. Tomorrow is September 12 and today is September 11: 11+12=23. I work in the 69th house: 69=23*3. I got a filter "hundred" in the contest "Kinopoiska" (a film whose Russian name has integers from 10 to 99 or words formed from them): 100 = 92 + 8, 92 = 23 * 4, 8 is 2 in a cube, i.e. 2 in the power 3. If you take the last 5 digits of my profile, the sum is 23. We have 23 stairs between the floors. On the account of the mobile phone left 23 rubles. Aah!
Paranoia is fun and exciting, you always have something to do, something to think about, what to imagine. If Jim Carrey is paranoid, it is even more interesting, because his facial expressions show more than all the words of the writer. If old Jim does it under the brazen guidance of Joel Schumacher, then paranoia becomes psychological when everyone goes crazy and gets bogged down in an idea. If Joel Schumacher encroaches on numbers, then paranoia acquires a very logical justification and pulls him to the side of the syndrome of searching for deep meaning (or more simply SRSG).
Yes, the whole film is a solid SRSG, aimed only at one thing - find in the frame the number 23: Laura died at 23, on the number of the bus and the car of one of the characters is the number 23, the numbers 2 and 3 flash everywhere, the beginning of the picture begins on December 23 (and much more).
So what's the movie about? Did you not understand from the title that the main character cannot breathe without an insidious number that chases him no worse than a maniac with a knife from noir novels? This in scientific life, by the way, is called apophenia - an unmotivated vision of relationships, accompanied by a characteristic sense of inadequate importance. And Carl Gustav Jung would grin and say that it's all synchrony and mind games. In fact, they are. Full penetration into the book, identification with the main character: parallels, trifles, habits, dreams. Biography. You don't? Or do you? Crazy with apophenia from the number 23 or seeing deeper and bigger than the others? Questions-questions-questions and only guesses on the background of the detective story. These inserts, by the way, are stylish: almost “Sin City” by Rodriguez, but without striking chrome.
I am sure that the picture will appeal to people whose attitude is like the engravings of Albrecht Dürer: a great space of thought and ideas that can be described by formula and vectors. Should I remember the phone? Here are the Fibonacci numbers, here is the square of prime numbers, then the standard Pi, and finally Pushkin’s birthday (you all remember when “our everything” was born?). There is a strict order even in chaos. So in "Fatal Number 23" you can see a subtle psychological family history of insanity, and taste the truth that a person controls his own destiny, and imbue with the magic of 23, look for signs. Or look with a very undisturbed look and see among obsession and blood a very touching care for a loved one.
Now let's welcome the deeper meaning! In my review of 448 words (before this paragraph), 448 are 4 and 48, where 4 are 2 and 2. Out of 48, subtract 2 and divide by 2, we get 23. If you single out every 23 words (and make a mistake a couple of times, as I do), you get: “In them, it is easier for an old idea to look for a complete 23 city of thought in 2.” Fatal 23: It is not so easy to look for thoughts and ideas in them that it is not so easy to look for feelings in two old full cities. This review is charged with sacred meaning! Read it morning and evening. NB: Mental disorders and Jim Carrey are not included.
I read something similar from Pelevin in the novel “Numbers”. He loved the number 34 and hated the number 43. So the magic of numbers plays a big role in world culture.
In our life, the magic of numbers also plays a huge role, because it is not for nothing that all horoscopes are built on the date of birth. But it works if a person believes it. In this film, the hero believes very strongly, and because of this, his whole life is turned upside down.
Jim Carrey performed in an unusual role, although at that time there were already “The Truman Show” and “The Eternal Sunshine of Pure Reason”. I liked Kerry in this movie, although another actor could also have played his part well.
I recommend this film to lovers of horoscopes, magic and mysticism. The plot is for you. Carrie's fans will love it, too. The rest can be seen for a tick.
No matter how fate turns, many are looking for explanations and signs in it. Sometimes they do. How terrible it is if life turns around it. What would a world be like without superstition and dreams? Gray and dull. And without obsession, another question.
Here we get the opportunity to see how bright, but ' monotonous' the life of an individual can become dark, but full of colors just because of one book. But a book that explains a lot.
A wonderful film that is so lacking. A twisted plot, an interesting idea (although when was the idea of obsession not interesting?), super acting, especially performed by Jim Carrey.
Deep conclusions from everyday things and superficial significance of seemingly neglected cases. Recommended for viewing!

A truth lesson is the best lesson a father can teach a son.
One of the best movies about metamorphosis with the human mind. I cannot call this film a masterpiece, despite the fact that the plot is stunning, interesting, exciting, but with a better production and a more dramatic actor, the film could well claim the title of legend.
So,
The idea of the film is quite fascinating, the development of the plot is also gradual and intriguing. Here is the wife of the main character found a book, a little while later, the character of Jim Carrey begins to realize that he is supposedly a prototype of the hero from the book and finally the madness embraces Jim and keeps him until the very final scenes.
In my opinion, the production should have been deeper, I did not feel myself in the place of the main character and this is a certain minus, also the drama that consumed the hero Kerry, although demonstrated by him well and completely overlaps with his previous roles in which he excelled as a comedian, is not played sufficiently thoroughly. In my opinion, ideally, this role would suit DiCaprio, who knows how to masterfully convey madness on the screen, but nevertheless some moments touched the soul.
If you give something incredibly important or fixate on trifles, it can turn into reality. Despite some shortcomings, this does not prevent me from putting a film that has a sufficiently deep meaning:

Dear viewers, having read your reviews of the film ' Fatal number 23' I had the impression that, indeed, too many tendentious perception of this film. And I am sure that if it is the case with this film, it will be the same with other films.
So, for some reason, most reviewers wrote constantly comparing D. Carrie to his roles in other films (which, as you know, were comedic in nature and where he was ' fooled'). They have developed a certain image of this actor, an unconscious comparison with which occurs when watching pictures with his participation. And any discrepancy with this established way is perceived quite painful (critically).
But why waste time on it? Try to watch this movie as if you don’t know the starring actor (D. Carrie), and then evaluate it. Just think about who D. Carrie is. And then, I hope you will understand that D. Carrie is multifaceted, and is able to play great in films of various genres.
This movie is great. It has a deep and thoughtful plot, as well as a stunning atmosphere of psychological tension.
In the same way, however, as the face of the well-known and many beloved Jim Carrey. Most of the films in his extensive filmography are comedies, and this film shocked me to the core. Frankly, if you look at the films I’ve seen with Carrey, I can safely say that I was so surprised by his performance and unexpected role only once, after watching Eternal Sunshine of the Pure Mind. And that's great!
Jim Carrey and the Psychological Thriller? What nonsense! – you say before you see it and you will be completely wrong. Jim Carrey and the psychological thriller are such a brain-bending combination that after watching the movie, you will look at the screen, sincerely not understanding how the previous thought could come into your head. It looks so harmonious and correct, and the world of the film is so firmly embedded in you that for some time after the end of the film you continue to live in it.
You understand the hero's obsession, you believe it; whatever it is, you become obsessed. You and Walter start frantically searching for this number everywhere, looking for – and finding – relationships where they did not exist and could not exist before.
If at the beginning of the film one could only wonder at Walter’s susceptibility to the printed word, then closer to the middle of his actions really acquire a pronounced logical coloring. And here, too, it is difficult to say whether this is the understanding of the hero, or a similar madness.
Jim Carrey definitely played the role to the limit of his abilities, squeezing out all that was possible. Paranoia in his eyes, in his intonations and gestures; it spills over the screen and deprives you of your own opinion for almost two hours, forcing you to think the same way Walter thinks, forcing him to live his life. And look suspiciously at the Bulldogs.
Kerry is a great actor. This role is infinitely far from the images in which the viewer is used to seeing it, but it is so qualitatively played that there is not the slightest doubt that this is really a role for him. Both Walter Sparrow and Fingerling are definitely his incarnation.
What got me in the movie was the image of Robin Sparrow (Logan Lerman). The boy is not only not afraid of his father’s paranoia, but he understands (or tries to understand) its origins and does not step back from Walter. The role seems small, but very meaningful. Makes it clear that the family is the main support of the hero, that all their help is not an empty sound or an echo of a sense of duty, but true feelings and sincere desire.
The film made a huge impression on me, even though I considered myself a humanitarian all my life.

After watching, my sister kindly reminded me that I would be 23 this year. Now this age definitely takes on some mysterious outlines.
