"Cops type" is a great comedy with interspersed action movie, in the center of which are two idiots - Justin and Ryan. Losers in life, who could not realize themselves in the big city, by chance discover a new life. Equipped with cops for a meeting of graduates, friends find that the blue form acts on others more than any magic, and decide to break away completely.
Uncomplicated, but fascinating plot, good humor and a duet of Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans do not let go of the screen. The film definitely knows how to entertain the viewer, then and then throwing up albeit absurd, but still funny situations faced by the main characters.
Towards the end, Cop Type moves away from the comedy genre towards a serious action movie, which is not expected at all. The local Glavgad - a large mafia boss - turns out to be such a frightening person that in such a light comedy project such a character is not expected at all. It's not just some clown you can handle with a clown prop. And Justin and Ryan from merry troubles get into real problems that can not be solved just by the sight of a police uniform.
Naturally, it was not without the classic set of morals – and the value of friendship, and the importance of following your dreams, and all that. It’s still working, but it’s still working.
Verdict: 'Cop type' is a quality project that certainly deserves to be read.
The jokes with cops are bad, every American knows that. It is no wonder that there are so many films on this subject: if you laugh at your fear, you will either reduce the shaking of your knees to a minimum, or... you will die of even greater fear.
Two loser men, having achieved nothing by the age of thirty, by chance become cops. Fools are lucky, as they say - and now they are already up to their ears bogged down in the real criminal world of Los Angeles.
Funny little (I expected more), but not all bad - some moments were very funny. In moderation went, in moderation caricature, although, timekeeping is rather prolonged and most of the time is spent not on jokes, but on it is not clear what.
It's kind of boring, it's kind of funny, it's a couple of tense moments, but there's nothing special about this movie. Such films are said to be watched by “turning off the brain.” I can recommend the same thing.
Losers in uniforms ... or told how to be a police officer cool!
I didn’t expect anything extraordinary. It was immediately clear that this film is a comedy of the level "Shaloon", "Macho and nerd", "Cops in skirts", as well as the films of Adam Sandler. The question was just what the picture would look like. Absolutely talentless and together with the spectator's tick "wasted time" or quite tolerable product for light relaxation and the same fun. The trailer contributed to the latest version. And let me try not to watch such films, but initially, even with my trailer, they bribed with ease, good understandable humor and, most of all, it was amazing ease and relaxation of the brain, which in our time is sometimes so lacking.
The development of history, as well as the culmination, is expected and for the most part as old as the world. They're two losers, life goes downhill and all that. But only changing into the uniform of cops, the guys begin to exult in full and the whole life acquires new bright colors, up to the fact that threatens to say goodbye to friends forever and transfer their power to the aunt of death. Everything is so serious that at some point and for 10 minutes all shades of comedy fade and we see the purest thriller, which is quite unexpected. Moreover, to say that it was necessary was also impossible. Something like that. But in general, trust the trailer, as light, not loading and pleasant film as expected.
The name Wynes is a must. Sean and Marlon, Damon's uncle, who played "cop type" Justin’s only “southern central” paved the way to eternity. Damon Wines apparently, everything is just beginning, but already a look at his works is quite close. I wouldn't be ashamed of the name. By and large, he did not allow this, although in the first half of the film he often did not finish. In the end, it was completely dispersed. Also stars from the sky missed partner Jake Johnson, a clear double of Friederic Diefenthal (Emilen from "Taxi"), on the contrary: at first he soaked be healthy, and in the end deflated, giving the throne of the leader to his partner in the film. Well, by and large, there is no need to find fault with anyone. Wrong scale, wrong task. I would only like to note the piercing stare of Andy Garcia and the sweetening attempts to get two police officers into their passionate embrace of a certain Annie. Everything from the actors.
Unfortunately, there are few jokes and they do not bring to ecstasy. Not bad, understandable, but not "wow!" I expected more from the beginning. You can see that the film cost not only not a penny, but a real trifle. The level is similar to “Such Different Twins” and “Movie 43”, but a couple of camera tricks, especially slow, still please. I would like to write that the film does not carry deep ideas, but I cannot forget about the emotions of pride in the coolness of the American police. If this picture was created to promote guys in blue uniforms, then it was a success. And the idea of “cool to be a policeman” after the film hooked, and the fees were above the roof.
Essentially for popcorn, beer or cola with cotton can still work. Or maybe just to see something new and not tense. In any case, the film is not so bad. There is clearly a grain of good in it, there is no vulgarity and Sandler plinth at all, only in moderation, but I would like to have more bright and hot humor.
I don’t remember seeing a movie with a similar story. But even if there was something similar, this film did not surprise me.
First, the cast. Behind the main characters not very much experience, although their roles played well. But they didn't show anything new. Producers, writers, directors were also not famous for their films, with the exception of Simon Kinberg (X-Men, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc.). Perhaps because of him in the film was a kind of madness of the main characters and what is happening around.
Second, the story seemed typical. Characteristics and the nature of the main characters could be predicted from the very beginning. The ending of the film was also not difficult to guess.
Third, jokes, it’s a comedy. In my opinion, they were very boring. Everything that the main characters did, all their conversations, was funny only because the characters themselves laughed at the situation. There may have been a couple of jokes and ridiculous situations to laugh at. But personally, I did not “tear my stomach” and “was lying under the table.”
Bottom line: do not go to this film in the cinema, an extra waste of money. It is better to wait in good quality on the network and you can watch if you wish. For you have not missed anything supernova or beyond madness.

Perhaps the type of cops will leave the impression of a strange and somewhere even ridiculous movie. Actually, it is. This is a film about two loser friends who escape to another world, dressed in police uniforms. Only this moment should inspire acute suspicion of such a picture.
Ryan and Justin didn’t make it to their dream city. Life seems to have been wasted. I just want to go home. But before that, you need to make a last desperate attempt to get out of trouble. And of course, friends will successfully climb out of the hole without any difficulty. For one reason, they're cops now.
Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. break away and fool around. In any case, without their wild antics, the movie would not be of any interest at all, and thanks to the duo’s joint crunches, you will still have to watch the film to the end.
What are the types of cops? Pretty standard Buddy Movie. In addition, clearly propaganda – only the blind will not notice how positive the police look here, and the status of the bearer of the cherished badge still needs to be earned. Nevertheless, a fair share of jokes and good action scenes entertain the viewer, not letting him get bored. Sometimes you can relax.
There are two types of comedies about police officers, the first and the most common, this is a comedy action movie, where the action is well staged and it is slightly diluted with unpretentious humor, the second is a pure comedy that puts characters in uniform in ridiculous positions, there they do not try to put competent action, each action is caricatured or close to this. The main problem of the film, just the same, genre uncertainty, if at the beginning of the film there are still any funny moments, then a little in the middle everything slides into moralization, but this can be experienced if not for an attempt to dilute all this, allegedly, spectacular gangster showdowns.
And all the humor, or rather situations in which the characters get a little template, and sometimes stupid. Naked, healthy men rob a store, then wallow genitals in the face of a cop - this is real nonsense, and this depraved girl who so wants a man in uniform - the most predictable scenario, not funny.
What I liked was the message, but not that, like, friendship and all that, these pink snots are quite tired, and the fact that people are ready to do everything that a man in uniform tells them, this idiotic idolatry of power leads to harmful consequences, you need to be a little smarter, and, of course, do not forget about law-abiding.
I will be consistent - I wrote a negative review on "Macho and a nerd" and frankly, this film will be much worse, so I do not recommend watching it, too disposable movie turned out, you can find a successful comedy and really laugh, and so a waste of time.
In the cinema for a long time formed a kind of genre of comedies about partners. Most often, partners are police officers. All these films are very similar to each other. Usually, we are talking about either two losers, or, one of them is a loser, and the second is his faithful guardian angel, who will always come to the help of a friend. Anyway, Rush Hour, in my opinion, was one of the most exemplary representatives of this family. However, it must be admitted that the idea of the film “type of cops” is not used. But the fact that the guys are heroes are not real cops. This is where the originality of the project ends.
To be honest, the movie is typical. It's pretty schematic. Both in story and humor. "Grade ideas" have long been poor. It's no secret, guys. And already, to cheer the viewer, you have to resort to "cardinal" measures. Well, there, naked ass in the face "to ride." Are you funny? That's not good for me. The most remarkable thing is that many people, as practice shows, like this arrangement. I had no doubt that the fees of the tape will be within, plus - minus a hundred million dollars. Why? The answer lies on the surface. People eat. They're also asking for extras. But lest you think I want to start with a bad one, I’ll get to the positives of this product. Really, again, I don't want everything banal. Moral about friendship, pursuit of purpose, maybe love. Yeah, it's here, like it is. But to me, friends, it all reminds me of decaf. Or meatless cutlets. Whatever your soul wants. By the way, the second, in our time, is not uncommon. Oh, come on. All the "human" sides of the picture are very, very smeared. And if you look at something else, according to the plot, I think you will not be interested. One of the heroes has a girlfriend. Yeah, not really. And one that is sexy, and with feet "from the ears." The color of the standard heroes should dilute the villain performed by James D’Arcy. But it doesn't. Because it's very standard. Although, we are quite familiar with his character. He loves fighting, he is dangerous and difficult to access by law enforcement. Alas. We're not talking anymore. There was nothing so dangerous. More like that, the insolent gopnik from the basement. Same thing with Andy Garcia. He's just not impressed with his presence. In principle, this time, it makes no sense to focus on the actors. Comedians do their job. They do it satisfactorily. Don't talk about the game. Not the case. Against the background of all this, if you dig, you can see, in places, mediocre camera work, holes in the script, weak elaboration of some characters. But that's if you dig. Everything else is canon. Humor at the level of the reproductive organs and the adage. There are almost no ideas, except for one or two. And the central jokes, I would say, are on the amateur. For a snack, they give you food for thought. More precisely, solid installation. The cops are cool. You are kissed by playful girls on the street, you can calmly drive around in a car with a flashing light, play detective. And you know what? It'll be fun. And no one will notice. Even the real cops.
Okay. What we have in total. And we have, to be subjective, the usual American comedy, which, every year, come packs. They come out, they look at it, and then they forget. If you have nothing to put your eyes on, and the evening, well, you just need to pass away so as not to disappear from boredom, then you can risk watching. Some of the episodes can be called funny. Guessed immediately, the pathetic core of the narrative is also present. Otherwise, nothing special or surprising. It looks light and stupid. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if a sequel came out in a year or two. It is quite fashionable, and most importantly, very profitable, to shoot sequels on commercially successful passers. That’s just, as the sequel “Macho and nerd” proved to us, not always, someone thinks about the quality of products. One is saved, the other is not reported. That's how they cook. Confectioners.

"The view is ridiculous." I'm like Danny Glover until he's too old for this shit.
The next comedy about two partners of police officers differs from hundreds of his predecessors only in that the cops here are fake. Dressing the remaining police uniform after the failed presentation of the computer game, two friends of the loser felt power in their hands and experienced all its advantages. Starting with innocent pranks, a couple of friends eventually found major trouble, but as true policemen they decide to punish criminals and make the law prevail.
The idea of the picture is very interesting, and anticipating what all this might turn out, each viewer was waiting for something special. But to surprise the new film Luke Greenfield this time did not work. Cop Type has all the elements necessary for a good police comedy. Many of them have references to other earlier films of a similar genre, many vaguely resemble something similar, but the feeling that it was all watched once before did not leave throughout the film’s timing. Of course, it is very difficult to shoot a picture on a rather worn-out topic and not lose its individuality. It’s nice that here the authors are not ashamed of their template and absolutely do not hide it, showing us how the characters remember Danny Glover from “Lethal Weapon” or shout the famous McClain’s “Yippee-kai-yay, motherfucker!” attacking criminals, and it looks ridiculous.
As for the rest of the humor, it is also standard. Many jokes are created on the confrontation of two mountain-partners, and look interesting only due to the bright improvisations of the main characters. The lack of racial jokes seemed very strange, although for partners with different skin colors this is a certain standard and a very fertile ground for mockery. In addition to concentrating on partners, several minor characters were also implanted in the plot, who pleased the viewer with their colorful and funny images. Especially amused was the Colombian Pupa and the woman living opposite the warehouse of criminals. And although the humor was without frills, and well diluted with toilet jokes, but it looked fresh, and the comedy itself justified its genre and made you laugh.
The main characters of Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson made up a good tandem and were able to make the viewer believe in their friendship. Their not yet worn and not stuck in vulgar comedies faces, as well as their heroes losers have placed the audience to themselves literally from the first scene in the bar to the song Backstreet Boys. Improvisation in dialogues helped make their communication more believable and their behaviour realistic. In general, the screen duet of this couple was born very interesting, and watching their game was a pleasure. Also very fitting was Rob Riggle in the role of a gas station cop, in which he performs not for the first time, and the villain performed by James D'Arcy, despite his pretty face, was irresistible and sinister. Other characters also differed in their color and showed the audience not a bad acting. And in general, the entire caste of this picture is very worthy, which is rather an exception to the rules for such films, where the focus is on the two main characters.
Summing up, I will say that the police picture “Cop Type” will show little new to the viewer, especially the sophisticated. As a comedy film more successful than not, there is really something to laugh at here (if you do not take into account openly vulgar and rude jokes). And even though in the course of the narrative there are small roughnesses, a good density of humor smooths them out, making viewing the picture an occupation absolutely not boring, but even vice versa. For a once-in-a-lifetime movie, or as a pill for boredom on a cold autumn evening, "Cop Type" is almost perfect. Good to see you all!
A promising idea spoiled by the usual “colored humor”, even amazing how this film just blew up a huge box office. Although the cult of the police profession will gather not so much spectators, and even more so when there is a frank banter and the realization of the darkest dreams - even a flurry of criticism on the film will not stop.
A fat Chinese man robbing a supermarket, a burning woman in an apartment opposite the den of criminals - primitive and nasty humor, without which the filmmakers could safely do. Even the fake Wayans Jr., when paired with Jack Johnson, looks like a cute duet, which gives a clear understanding of the potential that this film could use.
The film has good sides - the very idea of "playing cops" and its step-by-step embodiment by the main characters, the fact that the film gradually rolls from comedy into a criminal action movie - properties of similar films from the 80s and 90s. But the contagious disease that the comedies of the new millennium suffer, namely the toilet humor, make more negative impressions after watching.
As a result, the film is one time, without any sensationalism and is able to hook the viewer except that the main concept that the authors conceived. But even take the franchise "Macho and nerd" - then Like cops" on all points they are inferior, and the first example is also far from ideal.
I want to tell you why you shouldn’t watch the comedy “cop type”.
The trailer for this comedy wasn’t bad, and one night I decided to watch it. The scores aren't shiny, but the film promised to be fun, like "Macho and the Botan." This is what I saw.
The positive mood began to fade after the first acquaintance with the main characters.
American comedies often present their heroes as losers, this “comedy” is no exception to this. But the losers here look like a parody of losers from other comedies, not elaborate characters. Damon Wyans and Jake Johnson, budget versions of better actors, after the fifth line make it clear that “type of cops” is a B film, and good acting work should not be expected.
Justin’s character is boring, he constantly doubts everything and tries to compensate for the inadequacy of Ryan, his best friend. Ryan, apparently a mentally retarded former athlete, constantly shows his superiority, playing with children (probably it seemed ridiculous to the writers), and generates inadequate ideas, while demonstrating a pronounced lack of self-preservation instinct.
At the beginning of the film, we are greeted by an advertisement for a herpes cure - an attempt to make it funny, as in good comedies. For example, in the series “How I Met Your Mother”, Robin advertised laxatives, there it was filmed and played funny, in “Cops Type” it turned out somehow artificial and fake. Everything in this movie looks like a parody. The love line is stamped, boring and predictable. Josie lashes out at Justin as soon as he finds out he's a cop, which doesn't sound very nice.
The first desire to turn off the film, and the gag reflex appeared after the pseudo-policemen took the bandits out to the street for a search. And while Ryan is robbing, Justin forces the gang to repeat silly moves that, oddly enough, a bunch of guys with athletic looks repeat without question. The succinct falsity of what was happening and the wit of idiocy began to strain even more. The episode, when a lady who rented an apartment under surveillance, wants to have sex with cops makes you wonder, is this film really up to category B? The storyline with Justin dressing up as a drug dealer with dreadlocks, which none of the idiotic bandits can recognize, I will not even comment on. I think you did it yourself.
Liaps and stupidities in the film countless, which clearly demonstrates the attitude of the authors to the process of creating a film, the main message of which: “and so will go.” It turns out you can just watch the den of criminals through a large open window and not one of the pile of guards will notice you. Anyone dressed as a cop can get uniforms and equipment from police warehouses. For some reason, no one called the real cops after something as stupid as pointing guns at each other in a restaurant. Like cops could be declassified hundreds of times, but in the film, everyone is shown as idiots, ranging from the leaders of criminals to the cops themselves, who can not distinguish impostors from their own.
By the way, about criminals, James D’Arcy and Andy Garcia (the two main bad guys) played well. Rob Riggle's not bad either. I am sure that they all regretted that they starred in this film.
What does the movie teach? Breaking the law by pretending to be a cop and manipulating people by using a pseudo-official position? Robbing a pizza delivery guy and playing for money with street buggers? Threatening the owners of the club with prison, releasing the criminal who robbed the store, driving on the sidewalks and knocking everything in his way? Lie to everyone and everywhere, use drugs all the time??? Of course, you can pester any movie with questions like that, but why do we end up being shown that these people are now real cops? These amoral characters are now the guardians of order, why so? I still hoped that they would end up in prison for multiple crimes. But no, committing irresponsible idiotic acts, risking their own and others' lives, a couple of losers become cool guys, heroes. Fair enough.
Result:
It’s not the worst movie in the world, and maybe I’m too picky, but what else do you do if you watch a comedy that’s not funny, but annoying with stupidity? The feeling that the whole film was shot from the first take does not leave during the film. There is a good idea for comedy, but as you know, every comedy is made by jokes. Here, they are, but there are practically no successful, most of them are simply stupid, and for some, the creators should be frankly ashamed.
This creation reminded me of comedies from Anjoy, for example: Carlson, the lack of taste, talentlessness of actors, the stupidity of situations, the falsity of what is happening and the great desire to make money under the noise of a successful brand. The “cop type” like the Chinese “aBidas” sneakers seem to be beautiful as the original, but in the end you quickly understand what’s what. So the “type of cops” are trying to earn by copying a successful brand, having in the arsenal only a handful of jokes of third-rate humor and immoral characters that you want to quickly forget.

I’ve never heard of Damon Wiens or Jake Johnson, so I fell for this movie by accident.
Two loser heroes live on a rented hut. One of them looks like Guf, the other is not the average African-American from comedies about cops. Goof doesn't work anywhere and likes to show 12-year-olds how cool he is at rugby. His friend works as a developer of computer games, where his efforts are not appreciated. The characters of the characters are opposite, but there is something in common: Guf is daring, cheerful, brave and a loser, his neighbor is indecisive, all the time oscillating and a loser. One day, coming to a reunion and thinking that a costume party is planned, the friends put on police costumes. Sadly returning home from the party, the characters begin to catch the enthusiastic and respectful glances of passers-by. Guf and Co decide to have some fun, score a joint with law enforcement violators, pass without a queue and a ticket to the coolest dance in the city. In general, while a fearful friend tries to dissuade Guf from further adventures, he buys a police car with a flashing light and begins to patrol the streets - "There's a new sheriff in town, baby!" Not a day goes by and the heroes on pathos wipe the nose of one dangerous gang. It started! The leader of the gang turns out to be the ex-boyfriend of the new girlfriend of a cowardly cop (suddenly!), Guf sews his lieutenant’s patches, rubs into the trust of the real policeman a la Vladislav Baturin and begins to spy on the gang.
Good comedy, no worse, but no better than most cop comedies. Watch once and forget. The game of actors is not bad, the plot is not obliterated to holes, the dialogues are written well, and there is enough humor. There is a moral: even if you are a hopeless loser, your faith in yourself can blow mountains.
Movies about partner cops have always been loved by the public, but there all the baddy Movies are in demand. At least "Rush Hour" with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, at least "Lethal Weapon" with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. The feature of such films is action and humor. Well, and dialogue brothers in arms, friends. "Cop type" is no exception.
The disadvantages of the film are: not always funny jokes, improbability, stupidity, bad makeup. Pros: cheerful music, action scenes, references to one of the above films, switching genres from comedy to action, morality, a great ending. Of course, it could not be otherwise, successful people would not go into adventure, so there was such a happy ending. The boys got what they wanted.
You can characterize the film with the words-tags: drugs, dubstep, police habits, humor (like Seth Rogen), 30-year-old boys, friends - not spilling water. Value your friends and strive for the best.
This is good for the evening viewing.
I am not at all a lover of comedies, especially modern ones, but it so happened that during the show One of the chairs in the room was occupied by me. I had to understand what was happening on the screen. And oddly enough, I liked it.
The film is simple, naive, childishly primitive. You will not nervously scratch the back of your head, trying to understand the confusing plot. You won’t be surprised to open your mouth in response to the writer’s unexpected move. You don’t walk out of a movie theater telling yourself that you’ve never seen anything better. That’s not going to happen, because Cop Type is a different category. But that doesn't mean she's bad. Nondescript cinema, which does not have any specifics, should also exist. His task is to give the viewer to relax, get a charge of positive emotions, and Luke Greenfield managed to fulfill it. In addition, between funny dialogues and exciting shootouts, from time to time a bit of morality is caught: “don’t give up what you started halfway”, “defend your point of view”, “don’t take responsibility without deserving it”, etc. If desired, you can see a few wise messages in the picture, which are served carefully, not too intrusively. However, we should not forget that the movie positions itself as a comedy, and first of all offers to laugh. It is very important to go to the show with this attitude.
In films of this genre, I think success largely depends on acting. In this regard, the “Copy Type” did not disappoint, and it is wonderful. Until they had time to prove themselves, Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. did a good job. Starting from the very first minutes of the duo’s active interaction on screen, there’s no doubt that the two are best friends who have gone through fire and water together. Male solidarity, comradely rivalry, sharp expressions (including improvisation, which is a lot), lively emotions - all this is present.
Don’t expect too much from “spontaneous cops” and you won’t be disappointed. This is simply a funny film, playing out life situations against the background of an unusual story. Nothing more.
For lack of special choice decided with a friend to go to the movies for this film. Attracted genre. I didn’t know what to expect: there have been too many films with this theme lately. Some are delusional, others often have worn-out humor. And yet, this movie just captivated me! Not to say that the idea was new: individual fragments - all this has already been seen in other paintings and more than once. But even so, the film is great.
Plot
Interesting, funny. It seems to be a banal theme: non-professionals decided to try themselves as cops, but still it is not comparable with such paintings. Two best friends who, compared to their former classmates, have not had a good life. At first glance, they ruined their fate both in general and in small things. Both are trying to get their way, but not trying to reach great heights and not showing where necessary sufficient firmness. Both objects of perplexity of former classmates, and simply many acquaintances. But how much can change by mistake the uniform of policemen, violent imagination and a drop of daring courage? All my life.
And yet the plot catches from the first minutes. It is a little predictable: you see the failures of the characters and clearly realize that soon, according to the laws of cinema, their lives will change dramatically. But even despite this nuance, it does not spoil the whole picture, does not discourage interest in looking at it further. More and more new characters who one way or another, but still find something to impress.
Heroes
I like the behavior of the characters, what they are in themselves.
Ryan's cocky, unstoppable. The eternal initiator of various madnesses in their little company. Jake Johnson did a great job in his role. His character is daring, charming, but at the same time funny.
Justin is more calm, serious, but at the same time, this modest man knows how to break away, if a friend just pushes him in the right direction. Unlike Ryan, he does not attract so much attention, he is a simple guy, but it is difficult not to notice him.
But the game of Nina Dobrev, which I found to my surprise in this film, this multifaceted actress, able to play in one series of different opposite characters in almost all, this time frankly disappointed. There was nothing sparkling or memorable about this waitress. Ordinary girl, too much. All she stands out from others is her pretty appearance. At one point I was even surprised by the fact that she was trying to get rid of the main antagonist of this film - Mossie. For a long time there was a feeling that she would trade Justin for the main villain. The fact that this did not happen was frankly surprising.
As for Mossi himself - charming, cruel and dangerous. This hero cannot but be remembered. At first it seemed that he could do nothing without his gang, his bodyguards and sixes. This is how this rich womanizer appeared at the first encounter with the main characters, but this first impression was fundamentally wrong. As it turned out, it was very different. If anyone should be afraid, it's him. A person who has everything captured, who is almost always one step ahead. But at the same time, ironically, it was for a long time during the film that a few simple guys fooled him. How amusing it was to see his mistake. One of the most dangerous mobsters, who is simply led by the nose by two pseudo-cops. James D'Arcy couldn't go unnoticed. His play makes him believe in his character. Two words - a wonderful actor.
I like the main philosophy of the film: despite everything, you need to believe in yourself and achieve what you crave most, go to your goal, leaving all doubts. This is a good picture.
This fun, funny movie will not let you get bored while watching it. Undoubtedly, it is worth watching, and best of all in the company of friends for a large glass of popcorn.
It is a pity that critics have so low regard for this film. He may not be a masterpiece, but he is still good. I would love to see it again later.
My assessment after this film made me relax, distract from any worries and openly have fun while watching it, is unequivocal:

Waiting: Quality, Dumb American Comedy; Reality: Quality Dumb American Comedy.
Two losers (a spinless Negro and a lazy pale-faced Gopnik) are tired of their losing lives. The search for a path to success leads them to a brilliant solution: you need to dress up as policemen and save the galaxy from the evil Eastern Slavs. The Negro does it (sic) gay, the Gopnik... like a Gopnik.
As a result, the Negro ceases to be a rag, and the Gopnik finds his place in life. Personal growth and emotional lamentations of the heroes are attached. The audience is crying funny tears.
Both characters are very bright, different, memorable: you like them, support them, worry about them; they are very nice.
Humor is often below the waist, however, Suddenly, funny. Because it's not just an ass, it's a quality ass, so you can see what that ass was thinking. There are also a lot of stupid jokes, but thanks to our cute characters, they make the viewer smile sincerely.
This is a funny comedy, people in the room laughed, so I, to my shame, too, a couple of times could not resist. These movies should be watched when you just want to turn off your head and rest.
The plot is quite a plot, not a matrix, of course, but not porn. A lot of allusions to the classic genre. Quality camera work. Good music. The film was successful and came. It's all right, it's all right.
If you want to have fun in the company of friends (or in the company of yourself), then here you go.
Comedies can now be divided into two types: with common “American” jokes, predictable and not causing smiles, and comedies with new, unexpected humor that can bring something new to the world of comedy.
Justin (Damon Wayans Jr.) Creator of video games, once again has the desire to promote his game in production, and slacker Ryan (Jake Johnson), in the past athlete is preparing for a party. Frustrated Justin offers to change cops and somewhere finds real costumes. But the party is masquerade, not costumed and soon the heroes have to retire. On the way home, they realize the power of the law over citizens and decide to use their chance.
Looking at the uninhabited faces is pleasant, they are contributing to the creation, and Damon and Jake merged in tandem, it seemed like friends did not spill the water. Despite the fact that one tries to reason sanely, and the other embarks on any adventure that came to his mind. Diluted the novelty Nina Dobrev, known for the series in Russia "The Vampire Diaries" and Rob Riggle, a charming cop, previously lit up in the films "Cops in Deep Reserve", "Personnel", "Macho and a nerd", and it is impossible not to note the guy who perfectly got used to the role of a bad guy James D'Arcy, someone, and he was unrecognizable despite the created ugliness of the image. And of course, the great tracks for the film deserve special praise, they fit perfectly in every moment. 70% of improvisation does not stand out, but against the general background all jokes are very interesting!
The film can be attributed to a good motivator, if you have a goal, go and get your way, grab and cling to any opportunity, no matter what. The friendship line is also developed, they scodiced wisely, consulted and tried to work together, even during the quarrel they did not forget about each other’s safety.
And the love line here is a little hooked in the ability to forgive deception, the ability to come to the most unexpected call, despite the absence of any attempts to achieve reciprocity as such, rather it is obvious for both love at first sight.
Never ceased to empathize with the characters, look interesting, “what else will these two do?”, thank you that the film is not identical to the comedy “Macho and a nerd”, it is painfully tired of the acclaimed names and insipid jokes, Luke Greenfield was able to surprise after the films “Animal” and “Neighbor”, this kind of comedy was unexpected. I wish he could keep going in the same direction.
"Let's be cops." How important it is to be armed and find a calling.
Shot in two months and almost $20 million comedy with an age rating of “R” and unrealized cinematic potential. “Let’s Be Cops” does not claim to be in the category of classics, but easily bypasses all average comedies due to excellent actors in the person of Jake Johnson and James D’Arcy, as well as the attempt of director Luke Greenfield to shoot according to the laws of cinema as an art, not as a business model.
The story that two friends, having decided to have fun, dressed as cops, and then themselves did not understand how, but went too far in their lies, is not worth considering separately. All the expected jokes about the difference in reality and perception, as well as the sudden change in social status will be here. Interestingly, the writers Greenfield and Thomas work with subtext and not only create a narrative filled with jokes, but also try to create a semantic level in Let's Be Cops. Ryan and Justin not only want to hold a naive audience with fake tokens and pistols, they want to escape from their own life, which by the age of 30 did not give them the desired success and social status. Dark uniforms literally give them a new life, which, however, being stolen, will bring not only joy in the form of obedient citizens, but also a clash with real criminals. But the meeting with the criminal world will begin for our heroes not with dressing up, but earlier, when their own impotence in the case of someone’s lawlessness, according to the director’s plan, will give rise to a thought that begins with the words “what if ...”.
The joke in "Let's Be Cops" is definitely not enough - to the level of the classic comedy road Movie a la "Pineapple Express" Greenfield's missing. And a fairly large part of the charm is lost due to the protracted and not always successfully inscribed in the overall design of dialogues. Of course, actors try to make the most of pronunciation, presentation and wordplay (especially Jake Johnson), but this does not always help. But there is no outright stupidity, expressed in unnatural behavior and contrived scenes.
Having received the rating “R” obviously mainly for scenes of violence (blood by word looks very unrealistic in the frame, as a semblance of red gouache paint, and the director’s makeup should have serious questions here), Luke Greenfield for some reason did not dare to stand up in “Let’s Be Cops” more jokes on the edge, and thereby justify the “R” label, because the viewer, seeing the promo of this film, expects some vulgarity in the sense that Evan Goldberg sees it, and not Seth MacFarlane.
The violence mentioned above is worth mentioning separately, since shootings and chases are somewhat unpredictable. "Let's Be Cops" in the second half comes out of the category of comedy and is located somewhere in the space of criminal action - the criminals are quite dangerous, and the finale is somewhat unpredictable not in terms of the events themselves, but in terms of how they will happen. In other words, Luke Greenfield, building such a composition, definitely could make his film more armor-piercing relative to the humorous part, but, apparently, the performance of the comedy is much easier than writing it, and in the editing room there are not always unnecessary moments.
In many ways, Let's Be Cops owes its audience success to Jake Johnson. This is not the most attractive, but certainly very charming actor, created a surprisingly believable image of a dreamy loser who is just waiting for a convenient opportunity to turn his dreams into reality, and this opportunity still does not fall in his way. Awkward twists and the ability to instantly establish contact with colleagues on the set make Johnson desirable in any comedy project. James D’Arcy deserves special attention, who, despite the subtle features, plays the role of a dangerous and rude mafia, with all the attributes in the form of wearable drawings and tracksuits a la crime against good taste. But even in this way, D'Arcy looks very sexy. But the favorite of teenagers (and one of the main marketing trump cards of the film) Nina Dobrev on the background of other caste looks very faded and resembles a pretty model rather than an actress.
Even though the directors could not bring the concentration of humor to 100%, but the development of the plot was far from banal. The action “Let’s Be Cops” does not sag, does not abound in repetitions and does not get bored, and this is not enough for a light-genre modern picture. In addition, a bright picture and a well-chosen soundtrack in the style of hip-hop will appeal to almost any viewer, as well as the idea that any uniform should be earned, and recognition and respect can only be obtained by hard work. You want to be a cop? Be it!
To begin with, this film, like the lion’s share of modern (and not only) American cinema, is a black propaganda of demonism and an unspiritual way of life. But (!) if we close our eyes to the above, we get a very worthy comedy, which is doomed to be positively accepted by the modern audience.
The story is about two friends who once moved from the province to the big city (Los Angeles) in search of success, fame, money. At the same time, they promised each other that they would return safely if they remained nothing on their 30th birthday. And here we are in the first minutes of screen time, these two sitting at a table in a bar in Los Angeles on their 30th birthday. One of them is a once-successful footballer who suddenly (!) got injured, and with it, the end of his dream of a professional football career. The second is a computer game developer who tried to sell his game about a police patrolman. Naturally, in vain. And at stake is a meeting of graduates, where everyone, of course, secretly (about this, of course, do not say – as well as many obvious things) should appear in the brilliance of their achievements and properly cut the air with their 30-tiered member of success. So, at stake is such an important (!) event, a watershed of self-esteem, and the member of success is not even half pumped. Bad.
Next. Alumni meetings in Russia are the same. Everyone's just getting drunk (sorry about my French). But after watching Cops, I realized that in the United States, Los Angeles, parties are held in the form of a masquerade. Knowing this, our guys decided to change clothes and, since our developer of the game "Patrol" was a police uniform, the choice, despite some disagreements, was obvious. When they arrived at the meeting, they realized that they should have just put on a French mask, and as a result, they were the only idiots in police uniform (in effect, it’s like coming to a business meeting with flippers and a condom on their head). The meeting of the graduates is over, with sad faces our 30-year-old boys disguised as policemen go back and (oh miracle!) suddenly notice that those around them somehow “strangely” react to them: the girls tantalizingly look at them, people follow their orders ... And it dawned on them! Watch the movie!
Actually, look, I recommend it. The film is a test, it is funny and creepy, and crazy and meaningful, and even sometimes chilling blood (“What is it like when you can be killed at any moment?”). Anyone who's seen it will know what I mean. To see Ryan walk away from the bullets—those lead stings of death, ready with a click in his chest to interrupt the delicate thread of his heartbeat; to see him alone with a demon-man who has absorbed the smell of gunpowder with his mother’s milk, to whom only the desire to kill gives an impulse. I literally felt the smell of death, its chilling horror. Brrr. At that moment, I even forgot that it was a comedy, I was not really funny, but very creepy and frightening to the yeast in my penis. And really, how is it? No, I don't care. God forbid! It's better never to know. But especially impressionable, like me, will be able to feel a sharp speck of this terrible feeling on a shriveled soul.
I remember talking about Cop Type at the very beginning of the review, but that’s almost any American movie, you just have to put up with the abomination in it and try to weed it out and find a grain of gold in the ore. In this film, such grains are enough for a whole precious impression.
I would love to see it again in the future.
I recommend it.

PS: do not rush to leave the cinema after the lights go on, the credits are provided with some episodes from the later life of cops, they are worth checking out.
Two “chela” half-losers: Ryan is a former professional rugby player, now an amateur coach of yard boys & Justin, an “office plankton,” a low-quality computer game developer who suffers from having achieved almost nothing in the career ladder, also in his personal life, receives an invitation to a costume party. “Bro” make a decision to change into policemen, “pati” guys are taken seriously for servants of the law, their most “dirty” dreams begin to come true: smoke thousands of “jambs”, chase like Schumacher, search beautiful girls, fly to any nightclub, but slowly the “coops-dummies” get tired of violating public order.
A pair of comic actors Jake Johnson with Damon Wayans Jr. (son of "Major Payne", on the face an exact copy of Dad Damon Wayans), adequately coped with the roles of guardians of the law, "lucky heroes" inspire to laugh with vulgar jokes, ridiculous humorous scenes with characters, which are many in content, the tape is clearly not for children, what the MPAA rating hints at. Excellent plot copocriminalomedy a la "Macho & Botan", "Cops in skirts", "Diamond policeman" is quite interesting, funny, the ending is predictable, and sometimes "crawl out" similar elements of the above films, probably there was not enough fights - more muzzle, the film looks easy, all expectations are justified before.
So, the idea of the picture tells us that people are complex and unique, you do not need to stop before insurmountable obstacles, gather strength, strain and try to finish first, the main thing is not participation, but victory.
I don't want to smear this movie. Of course, I could practice my skill of rolling various valuable or not very good works of art into the pavement, but I will not do that. Let the “type of cops” do not pull at all on an intellectual tape with elegant humor, but they can not be called completely devoid of their charm and meaning. In some ways, the picture even has its own face. Hooligan, blurred in a smile face, but quite expressive.
The first and most important thing that this picture explores is the phenomenon of play, and games in real time and the real world. There was a joke about the fact that life is a game where the plot is so bad, but the graphics are great. It seems that “Cop Type” is a kind of adaptation of this anecdote. The film explores the problem of fully grown people who do not want or have the ability to grow up. Infantiles who have not achieved anything in this life, but hide everything worrying about it far away. A couple of the main characters are just like that. They hide from their own boring reality under the attractive masks of cops, not noticing that they are trying to fulfill their dreams, even playing. Sometimes it seems that the characters change roles, and the dream of one in a police suit embodies the other: clever is not the one who should be, and flirting again is not the one of the friends whose life is devoted to games. But these roles are constantly moving from one to another, forming a kind of kaleidoscope, only in the final, finally folding into a perfect and correct picture.
The creators of the picture clearly, in addition to cute irony over a certain type of people, pursued more banal goals, such as to make the audience laugh and the public captivate. To achieve the result on the first problem, youth humor was called so beloved by a certain category of viewers, and to solve the second problem, a considerable criminal and detective part was added to the picture. If it is most often possible to laugh with difficulty, then intrigue, in principle, succeeds. Even though the action scenes often had to be flavored with a considerable amount of absurdity, still the detective line was quite thought out. Not particularly confusing, but quite logical, so that the authors can not be accused of not combining A with B. In conjunction with this criminal theme in the film is a number of characters, both negative (criminals) and positive (police). These characters could well have made some quite a detective film, without the participation of fake cops who can get entangled in their own shoelaces. However, it is worth admitting that these very “policemen” in the criminal topic look quite appropriate, and in certain moments cause sympathy.
The film also features a romantic line. This time, waitresses Josie and one of our heroes, a black cop. The role of waitress took Nina Dobrev, the serial star. Probably, this role can not be called a big breakthrough in the world of cinema: a fairly simple heroine, honest, but quite uninhibited, completely predictable reacting to the actions of the character. To some extent, it is contrasted with many other female characters of the picture: they are either too loose, or too openly sexual and burned. Let the image of Josie is not a princess in a pink dress, but it is quite an ordinary girl, unexpectedly different from all the other women and girls of the film.
I liked the presentation of the main characters. Although white and black actors were politically correct to take the main roles, the plot is not built on this. Heroes are quite equal, which can be considered rare. Often, if in the role of one of the main characters, an African-American, then in the film there are either jokes on the topic, or some monologue of the hero about his skin color and position in society. There is no such thing here, and before us is an ordinary guy, probably the one who would be right to represent such heroes.
Closer to the final, the picture in some ways begins to resemble “Macho and a nerd”, but only from the good side. The film does not cause irritation, yawning, nervous laughter or bewilderment about the purpose of watching the film in the evening in the movie. He seems quite simple to those who just came to rest, and quite capable of giving them a charge of good mood. But you can see in it what is hidden, if you just watch the movie boring. Not so bad entertainment, but not outstanding. I can say to myself that I will forget this picture within a month, but I will hardly regret that I went to it.

Los Angeles is a city of great opportunities, where many residents of neighboring cities flock to realize these very opportunities. So did two classmates Ryan (Jake Johnson) and Justin (Damon Wayans Jr.). Guys, to put it mildly, are not particularly brilliant - a former athlete and video game developer. But one day things change. To meet classmates, they dress in police uniforms, but it is not so easy to remove it. Guys are so fond of playing cops that get involved in a very difficult case with real bandits.
The creators of the picture decided to follow a proven path and released a comedy that simply cannot but cheer the viewer. Typical American jokes about the relationship of “black” and “white”, drunk girls, parties, shootings – all this simply can not but cause at least a smile. If you compare the film with other similar films, then, in my opinion, it is not inferior to “Macho and the nerd”, “Cops in skirts” and “Typical cool cops”. The only thing you can find fault with is the idea is not new, but since such films are quickly forgotten, this minus is insignificant.
Morality is not present in the film as such. Being a police officer is an honorable job, the uniform of a police officer and epaulette can only be earned by fighting crime. And most importantly, the shoulder will always be a loyal friend, because without friendship anywhere. This is all the morality that can be drawn from this picture.
It was a good idea to take on the main roles of “unused” actors. Johnson and Wayans are another great movie pair of losers. Damon Wayans Jr. plays a calm, reasonable, sometimes even shy Justin, and Jake Jones got the role of a crazy Ryan who does not know when to stop in time and constantly drags a friend into trouble. Of the other actors, we can only note that Rob Riggle, who played a policeman, whom you can rely on, and Nina Dobrev in the secondary role of a waitress from a local cafe, who liked Justin very much. Perhaps due to the not too stellar cast, the film will not have a big release in Russia and in the world, but the comedy definitely deserves attention.
The humor in the film is not intellectual. These are all standard American jokes. But if suddenly after a hard work week you want to just relax and relax, then the movie is just very suitable.
P.S. The film is not for children’s eyes.
American comedy (which explains the presence of a battered plot and vulgarities) is positively charged! What does that mean? Looking at the facts-
Yeah, it's a bit of a story. Loser guys, best friends, suddenly get the opportunity to fulfill themselves and get out of the boring reality. They are waiting for big problems “guns, chicks, two barrels” and a happy ending to the story. But that doesn’t stop you from enjoying comedy. The film does not leave any sediment, but only a good mood and desire to somehow revise this film!
There are many, but there are few.
Well-chosen characters! Damon Wayans Jr. lit it! James D’Arcy turned out to be a cool villain, and Nina Dobrev lit up and even showed up in at least half of the film, which for me is an interest and a plus.
This is an ordinary comedy, but it will make you laugh to tears, which in the cinema did not happen to me, and with me laughed the whole room.
Recommended!
This is not to say that a friend movie is a rare phenomenon – films using this attractive concept come out regularly, and quite often their heroes are police officers. In this case, the creators decided to change the rules of the game, building a plot around two characters who only pretend to be cops. From such an idea, you kind of expect some kind of ridicule of typical clichés of police films, you think that comedy can somehow “rise” over the genre and well lay it down. But, alas – “Copy Type” does not realize its potential in this capacity, offering the viewer an absolutely ordinary film, and not as funny as it may seem to the creators.
In the story, two friends, apparently suffering from attention deficits, put on a police uniform on the occasion of a costumed (as they think) party - and are completely delighted that on the street they are mistaken for real law enforcement officers. If Justin (Damon Wyance Jr.) is quite calm about what is happening, then Ryan (Jake Johnson), suffering from idleness, seems to have found a new meaning of existence - he encourages his friend to continue a scam that at first glance seems harmless. The fact that the waitress (Nina Dobrev), whom Justin had long wanted to meet, herself began to show interest in him, seeing in police uniform, was a decisive factor for that. And while our hero, who still has the conscience to take this farce skeptically, sits his pants in the office, his friend is fully “learning” the specifics of police work through the Internet and television programs, along the way acquiring new “toys”, including a copy of a police car.
As is often the case with one-joke movies, the energy of the picture fades quite quickly. One comedy component, the creators seemed not enough – and they tried to bring some hints of morality to the plot, drawing typical images of losers who are not too satisfied with their place in the world around them (another blizzard on the theme “it’s all difficult in Los Angeles”), as well as add a little “action” in the form of a couple of cheaply filmed shootouts. All these tricks, oddly enough, only drag the film to the bottom. There are a number of funny sketches that work if you look at them separately — but the plot that looms over them creates the feeling that the picture simply bends under the weight of its own ambition. From here to obscene bloated timekeeping, and sluggish dynamics due to the fact that the creators are trying to “make simple for complex”, and the awkward moment when the caliper in the face of Rob Riggle turns out to be more charming than the central characters. In such a lazy scenario, the story of how the “bad cops” were drawn into real showdowns looks simply uninteresting, as do the characters who do not cause their behavior of special sympathy.
Yes, there is a bit of charm in the relationship of the main screen couple - but let's be frank: the sensational Tatum Hill tandem is here as before the moon. And it is hardly worth reproaching the actors who honestly try to revive this mediocre comedy, which behaves stupidly in places and rudely. The moment where the heroes are spit in the face is repeated twice, if I am not mistaken. In this scenario, the mention of Danny Glover looks even somewhat sacrilegious, because the film seems naively trying to claim some resemblance to the noble classics of the genre, although in fact such profanation was worth sending straight to VOD. “Form must be earned” – our heroes will hear in one of the episodes – this is a good characteristic for a film that claims a lot, but deserves much less.

The acting is great! Keegan-Michael Key - just a bombshell, in the role of the Pooh. Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson also played well. Andy Garcia, who I remember from Ocean's Eleven, stood out a lot.
Nicely shot the last shootout between the main mobster and our type of cops. The montage didn't fail! And yet, I liked the good ending, too.
As a result, the new film “Cop Type” turned out to be very funny and interesting, of course, it has a lot of vulgar and cruel moments, but it’s like a fat plus. As fat as that naked man (or woman) from the movie. In general, the film goes to theaters on August 28, and I advise you to definitely go!

Ah yes, about the title of the review. Let this remain a mysterious secret!
