Weeping, nose-sniffing and a soothing whisper are heard in the cinema hall. On the screen on a black background creeping credits, highlighting the names of the actors. The red petals of flowers fly like unextinguished sparks blown by the wind.
Battalion is not for people who want to watch people kill each other. Not for those who like the sound of a punch on someone else's face, insults and shouts, shots, blood, death. And the latter in such numbers in the modern world is already almost devalued. In computer games, there is always a save button, while in life it has not yet been invented.
It is 1917, the third year of the First World War. The Germans agitate Russian soldiers not to fight, generously endowing them with schnapps and fraternal hugs. Instead of a model army, a mob of saboteurs refusing to drive the German army from Russian soil. The provisional government came to the conclusion that it was necessary to create a women's battalion to raise morale, and also to have someone to fight. Under the leadership of non-commissioned officer Maria Bochkareva, a female military unit was organized.
Hair shaved, tears shed, goodbyes fulfilled – and there are no ordinary women anymore. There are soldiers of the Russian army. Selfless, courageous, faithful. They are no worse than men are ready to go to the front and fight for the Fatherland.
This is not a war movie. It's a drama about women taking up arms and not being women. Peasants and noble ladies become soldiers. They are no longer treated as women, but as soldiers. Unforgiving.
A disgusting, stunningly shot picture of Dmitry Meskhiev and Fyodor Bondarchuk. The viewer will see everything: tears of grief and sorrow, horror at the thought of murder, betrayal and devotion to duty and companions. The commander will tell you, "Bat," and you will have to hit. The commander will say goodbye and you will say goodbye. Because at war. Because you can't step back, you can't step back. Otherwise everything will be lost.
The rich film "Battalion" managed to reach the audience. The atmosphere of military operations, naked emotions of actors, high-quality directing, selection of musical compositions of the background. A world where women are transformed from fragile creatures into warriors. A world where men fall for deception and, hoping to avoid bloodshed, let spies in on their land. A world where the one who was destined to bring the lady a headscarf, gets acquainted with the machine gun, and the one who rushed to the front to defend the Motherland, remains to give a new life. A touching piece. This is a beautiful picture that was taken very well.
A separate bow to Maria Aronova, amazingly played the role of non-commissioned officer Bochkareva. A personal tragedy – a failure to achieve women’s happiness and family – resulted in the necessary dictatorship of a women’s battalion commander. Strict, tough Maria Bochkareva knew how to discipline soldiers and at the same time experienced maternal love and tenderness for subordinate girls.
The Battalion, I believe, expresses our gratitude to the women who fought. The reverence we feel now is not to say to their faces, but we keep it and put it into motion pictures. And if so, the memory of the “battalion of death” will live on forever as long as we remember them, as long as we thank them.
It's scary to watch. The film is difficult to watch because of the blurring of tears. The film is bitter to watch because of the realization that all this was real.
The Battalion needs to be watched because it’s worth it.
For a long time there is a stereotype that in Russia only war movies are made. Of course, we can agree with this, but Russian cinema is slowly beginning to rise from its knees. But it's not about that now.
Battalion is a Russian drama about the First World War. The film tells about the women's battalion of Bochkareva's death during the First World War and the difficult times of 1917. We can safely say that the film was successful.
This film is about heroism and love for the homeland. The first thing that catches your eye is the atmosphere. It's rendered perfectly. Revolutionary Petersburg, the desperate command, all these moments are well presented and magnificently played.
The Provisional Government orders the creation of a women's death battalion, with the propaganda goal of raising the patriotic spirit in the army and shame the example of male soldiers who refuse to fight. In the battalion Bochkareva were represented as girls from the famous noble families of Russia, and simple peasant women and servants. And it was interesting to see the relationships of so different women. But war, incalculable courage and love for the homeland make them a real team that can stand up for themselves and protect the weak.
It is also worth noting the similarity of actors with historical prototypes. Kerensky, Bochkareva and many others are similar to the current actors, as if looking in a mirror. This is clearly a plus.
Perhaps the main engine of the film is a great acting work. Here the actresses tried their best. In the frame, we were waiting for emotions that you believe, heroines that you worry about. One of the actresses who impressed me is Maria Aronova. Just no words. She played a strict but fair boss with a steel rod, as well as a simple sensitive woman.
Maria Kozhevnikova did not play badly, given her past failures. Until now, the same Alla Grishko from Univer was spinning in her head, but the competent approach to the role and the seriousness of the character played into Kozhevnikova’s hand. The other actresses are wonderful. Each character came out as such a small individual, it made me care what happened to them.
The realism of the picture gives the film a kind of action, which is depicted in the form of combat operations. Wounded, beaten, exhausted girls under a hail of bullets set an example of courage, courage and tranquility, and you understand that in war all are equal - and such combat soldiers can fight back any warrior peasant. Speaking of soldiers, men - at such a troubled time for the country, behave indifferently, spreading their fingers with a fan - what scum were in this war ...
And finally, the story itself is presented interestingly, competently, without faucets, which causes emotions and does not leave the viewer indifferent. Almost the entire film is saturated with such dramatic moments (their list can be considered as a spoiler, so I will not list) that almost the entire film was a lump in the throat and eyes filled with tears.
However, it was a little inappropriate for me to have a simple humor in the picture. In my opinion, such genres of films should not have such moments, still quite emotional and serious film. But these are really small things, so many people will not catch the eye.
The battalion is in many ways similar to 9 company and All-metal shell, but this does not in any case omit it in terms of a suitable military drama, all the same clichés are present in many films. Also, the fishlessness of films about the First World War makes it one of the films - the foundation for this time period.
From some sources, I learned that the Battalion was originally filmed for television, so the full version on TV will reveal all the maps and understatements that can be found when watching.
The Battalion is an excellent atmospheric drama, which is made on conscience, without exaggeration and with love for our war veterans. This is the picture that should be remembered and remembered with a kind word. And the applause that was after watching, clearly indicate that the movie really turned out to be sincere and Western in the heart.

I don’t want to describe the film, because you have to watch it yourself..don’t be nagging if something seems a little bit different from reality..after all, it’s a movie!!!
There are many touching moments in the film where tears just begin to flow from the eyes. . .
After all, it was the same girls who are ready to screw up everything, getting a profit, the servants who sat down their pants, fraternizing with the Germans, the bosses who were afraid of them and did not take any action ... one way or another they were. .
But the female Botalion gave an example of how to love the Motherland... and protect!!
And yes... it happens that the last scoundrels are ashamed ... and something human wakes up in them, which means there is hope that even the last scoundrel can do something good.
Separate delights and applause to the actress Maria Aronova, who played the commander of the Death Botalion Maria Bochkarev ... she just perfectly conveyed the mood, the behavior of this strong woman ... she believe from the first to the last word!
This is her, the image of a Russian woman who will enter the burning hut and stop the horse at a jump!!
Maria Kozhevnikova also played excellently, appearing as Princess Tatishcheva..This role really shows that she is an interesting dramatic actress and outgrown this notorious Allochka from Univer.
I have so many emotions that it is impossible to describe them all... so I do not want to pour them out in a wild raging stream on you.
I hope that there are many more people who will understand this film than those who will only flatly try to evaluate and explain every millimeter of this picture. .
Love your country and be proud that you live in this country!!

This film can be used as a guide to making a disgusting film. In the beginning, it all started out so well, in terms of the reality of what was happening. Although here they managed to bend the stick with the moment, like everyone else, up to a single girl calmly and without hesitation go down the slide, when, like a day ago, they all rolled in a cubicle. But that's the smallest flaw. Going to this film, I expected something powerful, some frenzied energy, but not this caustic predictability. The first hour, I liked, especially one very strong moment and very honest. After all, shooting such films - there is always a danger of overdoing the stick and moving into linden and vulgarity, which eventually happened by the end of the film. The director is on the edge. There were frankly burning eyes with their patriotism shots, such as filming running women's legs in the light of the sun, or brave eyes, at all ready soldiers (ok?). I still wonder why in a film that tells us about a time terrible for Russia, namely 1917, why at this time everyone freely believes in God? Why does the battalion bless Father? Why is there so much prayer in the movie? Too much for Soviet times, and it is not convincing, it is enough to show a praying person once, so that everything is immediately clear. It was not worth at least 10 times to devote the viewer to what a believer our people! Just as improbably, none of the men could not keep a sobbing mother running to her daughter (at a military parade, by the way, going). And how they went out of order, and went to calm her down, and all approving and understanding watched. Come on, what a kindergarten. From now on, it begins. You look and you laugh. Next to you sits Mademoiselle, smearing her hands with cream, either so that the iPhone does not scratch, or for some reason. Sitting in a fur coat and pompously telling us to be quiet, because we are not coming to comedy. Every minute I feel like I’m laughing at comedy. And after the end of the film, she comes out with enthusiastic eyes, in her thoughts admiring 10 out of 10! and she's right. If this film were to be judged stupid, even stupid, then of course 10 out of 10, comrades!
Next comes the joint behind the joint, strange German spies, carrying top secret documents, under their hearts, almost like a photo of his wife. . At least they hid it in their underpants, in the sole of their shoes, but not where they would look first! Oh, those big words about officers being no longer officers and going to war, oh, those shouting about the homeland and worshipping it. It's all good and beautiful, but it's not at all convincing. After the fight, the brave ladies tirelessly pull off their gas masks, and remain, not that alive, and they are even full of strength and self-confidence, although around them still swirling “apple smoke”. The girl, the so-called “sniffle”, hearing three rustles and grinding behind her back, does not grab the gun, she does not even turn around, she just continues to lie down and sing, because she lies so well, Lord, how good! An officer and commander of the men's army can not collect them and send them to fight, but bark at an honest volunteer who came to fight, easily! And there they are, officers, tearing off their epaulettes, throwing them in the face of the unappreciative pigs who dare to fight, here they are, men! And the women have a dead end there, they are surrounded, and now, Madam commander turns around, and there are peasants running, those who spit in her face, beat her and covered her with mat, those very creatures flee, protect the Motherland, because the officers have softened ... conscience awakened ... a fairy tale! There are many such moments, a lot of them, now, sitting at home, you will not remember, but then you are overwhelmed with indignation, and all sorts of nasty things get into your tongue.
The actors played well, but they are actors. Although, it deserves attention and gratitude.
Cinematography is terrible. It's a nightmare, guys. Footage of the fight, filming the face from below, as if the camera was attached to the fly, and she flies and shows how the women scream. And such simple things as getting up and crawling, barely dragging his legs, could not be removed. And they made it so funny. The back was removed, and it was necessary to at least remove the face or torso, but not from behind. That's ridiculous. Mistakes, mistakes, just a terrible lot. But it is a shame that such a beautiful and great story, such an example, and it is so falsely told.
In the Russian film industry, there is a tradition to release films dedicated to any holidays and memorable days. Very often, these films serve only to ensure that people have where to spend time on the weekend, and the filmmakers make money on it. Although the quality and limp on all the legs that there are, especially no one complains. Because everyone understands. In the same way, to ' Defender of the Fatherland Day' the film 'The Battalion' is released, which does not show these same defenders in the usual form, namely male. And, well. Let's go.
Scenario
In fact, the script is as simple as 5 cents. 1917, the First World War, on the doorstep of Russia also hangs a civil war. To say that our troops are completely unprepared is to say nothing at all. Russian minds decide that to lift the spirits, it is necessary to create the first female battalion so that the Russian peasant will come to his senses. Honestly, I don’t know how true the events in the film are and how they are in line with the historical ones, but overall it looks pretty convincing. Although, at first, a bit like 'Soldier Jane' but this is only a fleeting misconception. True, there are holes in the script, but you should not focus on them. The characters are interestingly spelled out, there are a lot of them and they are all very interesting, shown in detail, especially the image of Maria Bochkareva. He is beyond praise.
Sound and music
The soundtrack is definitely not something to focus on when talking about a movie. The music corresponds to certain moments in the life of the main characters, that is, the heroines. No sense of emptiness. All in moderation. But, some dialogues are not listened to, a little more than completely. I understand that in some ways this is done in order to feel realism to the fullest. Oh, some of them just weren't important. I would love to hear every sentence of the film clearly. That's definitely a minus.
Operator work and environment
I was pleasantly surprised to see a picture of very high quality and not only in my atmosphere. There was no harsh grayness of World War II films, no yellowness of Chechnya. Everything looked ... different. And that's great. Nothing annoys in the entourage of modern films, as stretched over its entire length blue-yellow filter.
Actors and their implementation
Oh, that's where we got to the point. The entire cast is so well selected that sometimes it seems as if at a casting, actresses were asked to tell what they really are in real life, and only then handed out roles. Everyone, without exception, did a great job. I was afraid of Maria Kozhevnikova appearing in the film, in the end even her character won a bit of my sympathy. I want to say something about Maria Aronova. All my life, I thought of her as a low-cost TV actress. But, in this film, she showed that if you give the actress an interesting role and give the opportunity to show yourself, the results can be simply stunning. That’s what it’s worth watching this movie for. She's exactly what hides all his shackles. All the feelings that I got while watching this movie, I got thanks to this actress.
Should I watch this movie? To you, personally, I advise him to look at those who believe that we do not have worthy actors. And the rest, I think a couple of hours of a good movie does not hurt.

Although during the shooting of this film Bondarchuk was only one of the producers, it turned out anyway '9 Rota' in skirts, but only less touching. It's very atmospheric. I loved the movie, and that’s why...
I'll start from afar. Back in 2005, my friends and I are going to the film '9 company', the first session in the now closed small 2-hall cinema Kuntsevo, on the premiere day. The room is full. We're watching a movie. At the end of the film, the hall applauds standing up (it is not clear to anyone, since this is an ordinary small cinema, not a premiere show with directors and producers), the lights in the hall for some reason do not turn on, the credits go, people reach for the exit. At the exit, you can see that the men have a stinging tear on their faces, and the girls cry to the fullest and still have not calmed down. It was especially spectacular when those coming out of the hall passed the ticket office, with red weeping eyes, it was very unusual to watch the stunned reaction of those who had just bought a ticket for the next session (at first they clearly heard a standing ovation from the hall, and now the viewer comes out like a funeral procession). That review '9 company' I remember for a lifetime, probably. And in fact, a good movie came out, albeit template in places, but with incredible emotions, especially at the end.
The film ' Battalion' waited a long time, I wanted to see something similar, only more atmospheric and even more emotional. What is it, the film about the female regiment ' Death'! Female, not male. There, drama on intrigue and conflict chasing had to be by definition! But, to my surprise, there was almost no place for this in the film. Here the viewer is waiting for almost 1-in-1 story '9 company'. Recruitment, training, war 1 time, war 2 times, everything ended abruptly. But the moments of the fight are filmed dull and boring, neither up to '9 company' nor up to ' we are from the future' 1 part on the beauty and emotionality of the fight the film does not reach. Yes, and sometimes to distinguish that the film about the women's regiment, and not the men's under the command ' Babs' - difficult. Since Maria Aronova plays her role brilliantly, so worn by time and wars of a boy-bab. Tough leader, attentive mentor. But from the soldiers almost zero emotions, as well as the femininity itself. There was only one scene where a soldier runs into a hill, and here is real & #39; runs like a girl & #39;, cute in the usual manner waving her arms ) But it looked even more staged... And the rest is nothing...
But is the review positive? Why? It's the atmosphere of the movie. From the very beginning, the authors of the picture managed to immerse the viewer in the era of the first half of the twentieth century. You infiltrate, you dive in there with your head, and there is no such moment when you were from there ' thrown out ' Keeping track of the story is also interesting. It is disgusting and disgusting, which means it is well filmed and played, to watch male soldiers. And for the main ' trolls', to put it in modern terms, among these 'men'.
To sum up, the Battalion film lacks an emotional component. The same stingy male or abundant female tears in the course of the film and shed almost nowhere. Neither the scenes of farewells nor scenes of murders are accentuated (well, the film is about war, I hope everyone understands that there will be no world-labour-gum), all this remains fleeting, but for the women about whom the film is made, this is a very important component. As if there wasn’t enough time or attention for those moments. But still, the atmosphere and mood, I think, the creators of the Battalion managed to convey to the viewer. When leaving the hall, there are no questions ' why' and ' why' which is important. I definitely recommend the movie!
It's World War I. In the courtyard 1917, the post-revolutionary time. Because of Bolshevist propaganda, Russian soldiers do not want to fight and fraternize with the Germans, who safely weld them with schnapps, and at the same time spy. The army turns into an uncontrollable rabble, morale at zero, in general, there is a gradual moral decay. There is nothing the officers can do about it and make any decision without the consent of the soldiers' committees. As a result, what would be someone to fight, as well as to raise morale, the provisional government, represented by Alexander Kerensky, orders the creation of a women's battalion. Yesterday's ladies and peasant women fight side by side, no worse than men, bravely, boldly, selflessly.
The picture turned out to be interesting, rich, cognitive, natural, hard, sad and heavy. What else can a good war movie be? Due to the fact that the main characters are girls, Battalion, among other things, looks touching and in some ways much more tragic than other films about the war. The naivety and external fragility of women strongly resonate with the surrounding reality of wartime. I will say at once that the fighting here is secondary and they are not given much screen time, the main emphasis is on the women’s battalion itself, its training and, in general, the situation in the army. So you will not see numerous battles and epic battles, which of course does not exclude spectacular moments and heavy dramatic scenes. Whatever it was, but this is one of those films that look in one breath and unfortunately end quickly, although I want to look further.
In some places, the plot of the picture looks predictable, but this aspect does not interfere, but only benefits the subsequent drama. The abundance of tears on the screen makes it clear that in the first place before us, though brave, but still women, and only then soldiers. War is not a woman’s business, but when they go into battle, not sparing themselves, it causes only respect and pride for the Russian people, and also demonstrates that not only men can be considered the stronger sex. In addition to heroism, pain and suffering, the film has a place for love, although not long.
The disadvantage of the picture is the fact that it ends at the most interesting place. The creators decided not to show the final fight, which promised to be grandiose and boiling, but just hinted at it. Plus, the death that overtook the main characters in absurdity, or naivety, but this is rather not a minus, but an additional confirmation that a woman was created for creation, not destruction.
Actors, both little and well-known, performed their roles well. Especially impressed was Maria Aronova, who played a boy-baba, the commander of the women's "Battalion of Death" Maria Bochkareva. She is for her wards quite tough, but fair commander and mother in one person. Aronova quite naturally, naturally and emotionally performed the role. I was delighted by Maria Kozhevnikov. Although her role was not large, but she finally dispelled the image of Allochka from "Univera", showing that Maria is suitable for serious, dramatic roles. Marat Basharov reincarnated into an arrogant and narcissistic Kerensky. Such roles suit him. The discovery was "Yanina Malinchik", in the role of a powerful grandmother named "Dusya". There were many more interesting characters, but you can not list all.
"Battalion" is primarily a tribute to the feat of the first women's battalion, which was of great importance, but later was forgotten. The picture reflects well the atmosphere of that era, removed with respect, impartially, without smoothing corners and is a worthy gift for the Defender of the Fatherland Day.
To tell the truth, when I saw the name of F. Bondarchuk on the poster among the production staff of the Battalion, my suspicions about the pathos and ideology of this work, which took place before, became even more tangible. However, the devil is not as terrible as it is painted - without watching this film, do not rush to conclusions. I liked the movie rather than not. In any case, I could reconsider it: having shortcomings, it is not deprived of some advantages.
In the Battalion, of course, there are pathos and ideology, but they are given dosed, do not climb from all the cracks and therefore almost do not annoy. However, some scenes, on the contrary, are encouraging. For example, the one in which officers who arrived at the location of the unit at the front, preferred to tear off their epaulettes, just to get the opportunity to engage with the Germans in battle (by the decision of the Soldiers’ Committee officers were forbidden to participate in battles). Or a scene of a female battalion attack against the backdrop of a fiery rampart that female soldiers themselves staged, both to demoralize the enemy and to cut off their own path to retreat. These episodes looked just not pathetic, namely heroic, in a positive sense of the word.
Of course, it was not without the stamps characteristic of modern films about the war and closed bands. Such as, for example, clarifying the relationship between the “recruits” during the barracks. All this was seen more than once, but in this movie had a place, because it was a good occasion to demonstrate the leadership and human qualities of one of the main characters, battalion commander Maria Bochkareva. In this situation, the non-commissioned officer Bochkareva was at a height, putting in place the overzealous wards, instantly bringing order to the unit and remaining the master of the situation. In addition, the female commander has repeatedly demonstrated his positive human qualities. True, in the conditions of the battle of M. Bochkarev, no one is shown that does not affect his course.
The film is not without melodramatism, because of which it seems to sag and lose momentum somewhere in the middle. However, it should be remembered that the film “Battalion” is a film primarily about the female share, both in the war and in general, and not a historical action movie about the “Russian Amazons” on the fronts of the First World War. The film shows a group of ordinary women and girls of Russian society of the early twentieth century, coming from different social groups, who decided for various reasons to go to the crucible of the world massacre, which, by the way, was called in then Russia the Great Patriotic War. As for the motivation of the recruits, unfortunately, it remained almost undisclosed. The only exception was two young heroines, representatives of the noble class: one of the bridegroom died, and she went to fight to avenge his death, and the second decided to follow her beloved officer. At the same time, very little attention is paid to the love experiences of this heroine and her friend, and this is good, since it does not distract the viewer from the main one. In general, “pink snot” as such, I did not see in the picture.
The reproach can be caused by the fact that from the declared in the title of the battalion on the screen we will see only one and a half hundred people in the training, of which no more than a third will be in the trenches. But that's not the point. In general, no scope in the film is not visible: one part of the scenes in enclosed spaces, several scenes on the street and at the train station, and the rest on a small patch of open terrain, which is a combat zone with a frontline strip. Attempts to present in all its glory the disintegration of the tsarist army and the revolutionary atmosphere of 1917 were unsuccessful. As demoralized Russian soldiers, the director and the author of the script offer the viewer to witness a herd of several dozen high-aged unshaven hops, “people exhausted by schnapps”, hanging around the crowd on the frontline territory and seeking attention from the soldiers of the women’s unit.
The battle scenes are mixed. On the one hand, they are certainly weak, due to the small number of combatants and the complete absence of artillery, except for the German mortars firing cylinders with poisonous substances (which, with enviable accuracy, carefully fit into the Russian trenches). In the film there are only two or three machine guns (including one "Maxim" in ours) and there are no cavalry or other types of troops, except for a few dozen infantry from the Russians and Germans. Fights between the Russians and the Germans are mostly hand-to-hand, seasoned with indiscriminate rifle shooting and hand grenade throwing. However, on the screen, the tension, the rage of the battle and its dynamism are clearly felt. Our valiant (without sarcasm) heroines bravely stab and shoot the Germans, without hysterics and just as calmly, without heroic poses and pathetic speeches, die from German bullets and bayonets. Their hysteria covers them only after the battle, when it comes time to count the fallen, comrades to count. I was very impressed by the scene at the end, when the women’s squad, bristling with rifles, huddled in the trench and tensely silent, listening to the Germans sneaking up on both sides (even tears in their eyes turned).
Most actors played average. Of the historical characters, the filmmakers tried to somehow prescribe only one - A. F. Kerensky, the chairman of the Provisional Government. And prescribed it, I must say, very one-sided, prejudiced and superficial. General A.A. Brusilov (Supreme Commander-in-Chief at that time) is nothing more than a live scenery, without character, words and actions. But of the rest, I would single out for myself, in addition to Maria Bochkareva, duly performed by Maria Aronova, another heroine, Vera, performed by Valeria Shkirando. As a historical film, "Battalion" turned out to be quite average, almost miserable, but as a human drama - much better.
And it would be fine, but one episode could not reconcile me with this film to the end. We are talking about the brutal beating of M. Bochkareva by her husband, a soldier who served in the neighboring unit. Along with the fact of assault, I was disgusted by the fact that dozens of other men who watched this shameful scene did not try to protect this worthy woman from this manifestation of domestic violence. Moreover, it seems that the creators of the film even approve of such treatment, treating it as due, because the husband did not suffer deserved retribution, and is shown at the end going on the attack. For me, his image is also an image of an enemy of my country, an internal enemy, worse than a German, who is still an inexhaustible disgrace to my people and my culture.
From the creators 'Brest Fortress' and 'Stalingrad' - this is the title used by distributors in the announcement of the film 'Battalion'.
After such statements, one should expect either a good war drama, or sham effects and a linear scenario. This is all we have in the new picture of Dmitry Meskhiev.
The Women's Death Battalion under the command of non-commissioned officer Maria Bochkareva goes to the front line and sets an example of bravery to soldiers exhausted from a long trench war.
The beginning of the film is an exclusively women's study, with a strict but fair mentor. Despite the difficulties in relation to the battalion, they manage to get to the front and prove to the soldiers of the already collapsed Empire that the war is not over.
When watching the first part of the film there is a feeling of seriality of the film, it is noticeable that in the process of post-production some of the scenes were left behind the film. There was not enough timekeeping for a full presentation.
Visually, the film does not look bad, the overall picture reflects the times of the First World War. The only exception is operator work, in a few moments. Out of place used shaking first-person camera and dialogue, accompanied by a camera of circular rotation makes you distract from the words of the characters and wait for the operators to finish twisting over your musculoskeletal system.
Despite the above, pleases the semantic load of the film. Few people today have any idea of the First World War. It is for addressing this topic that you should take your hat off to the director. The matriarchy in the film impresses, especially the play of Maria Aronova. We can say that the role of a non-commissioned officer is one of her best works in a full-length film.
But the promising presence of Maria Kozhevnikova in the acting performance upset. There is too little screen time for Maria and only episodic significance of the character for the picture.
Summing up the film, it is worth saying about the important social component of the film, which will draw the viewer’s attention to the story.
I strongly recommend after watching the picture in the cinema to read / re-read Remark, ' On the Western Front without change'.
P.s. Attention SPOILER!
I cannot but mention the gas attack and the subsequent actions on the battlefield. There was a feeling of wars of the Middle Ages, when the battle was fought in an open field. This is not why trenches and other defensive structures are built to throw and run towards the invading enemy!
