The duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is a unique phenomenon. In the duet, they released only 4 films, and it seems that much more.
When "Sean" came out, it was warmly received, but everyone thought that he was one of the series, for the holiday will last forever.
But time has made adjustments. In the work of the duo, Sean turned out to be the crown, and after years, other, no doubt no less brilliant works become increasingly difficult to perceive in isolation from the historical context since half of their charm is a satire on certain genre layers relevant at the time of release.
Sean, originally no less secondary (in a good sense) product, detached from the historical context only blossomed, becoming a completely independent work.
Moreover, for me personally, the uniqueness of the film is that the vast majority of paintings in the Favorites folder begin to be perceived completely differently over time. Sean always looks like the first one. It seems that you already know the plot by heart, looked in all possible translations and in the original voiceover (an indescribable play of words on the differences of English and American languages is the icing on the cake, which none of the localizers could convey) and still viewing causes the liveliest response. It’s as if you’re sitting so young and handsome in a movie theater and banging with the audience.
It seems to be on the screen, but each part of it is performed at an extremely professional level. I remember at first there were questions for the ending, but now I don’t even know how to finish the stories.

P.S. for the first time look strictly for voice 18+
“Paul” is another parody with the British duo Pegg-Frost. It would seem that the director's chair should habitually take the third Briton Edgar Wright, but no: suddenly it was Greg Mottola from the United States, in the track record of which up to this point were mainly series, and for a wide range of this filmmaker is known except that the work on the comedy "Super Peppers".
And perhaps that’s the reason why “Paul” is a little weaker than “Cool Cops” and “Zombie Named Sean.” I’m not saying that Paul is bad. Not at all, this is a strong comedy, the duet of the main characters works as it should, the parody looks lively and fun. However, Wright has an amazing sense of proportion: in his paintings (at least those with which I have been acquainted), he did not go overboard either with the black woman, with profanity, or with other elements that made up his films. In the movie that Mottola made, some comedic moments seem untwisted, and where laughter is about to break through, the result is only a smile. And the character of Kristen Wiig, who after some incident began to uncontrollably swear, at some point began to tire a little of it.
And in general, if we talk about Kristen, there is a feeling that she did not get into her role. Despite the fact that the comedy genre is not alien to her, sometimes there is a feeling that in place of this actress there should be someone stupid.
Of the other characters, fortunately, this can not be said. Hader and Truglio organically fit into the role of idiotic agents, Cockner and Plemons adequately portrayed stupid rednecks, and Patrick Bateman got used to the image of an FBI agent. And at the end we are waiting for a very pleasant and inviting cameo.
What about an alien named Paul? Personally, I liked his image. It is interesting to watch him, he is moderately rude, moderately cheerful, he causes empathy and a desire to know how his story will end. He was voiced by quite famous comedy actor Seth Rogen. For those who watch films in dubbing, this name is unlikely to say much, but just for reference: in the filmography of this actor there are such cartoons as “Kung Fu Panda”, “Shrek”, as well as the film “The Lion King” of 2019.
Despite some shortcomings, the film was definitely a success. But when watching the movie of fans of the British trio Wright-Pegg-Frost probably at times will come to mind the thought: “How would Edgar take this moment?”

Today, probably more or less good films about the invasion of aliens to shoot almost impossible. Long-released “Monsters” and “District No. 9” are rare exceptions thanks not so much to aliens as to the author’s rethinking of the concepts of “alien civilization – human race”. In the 2000s movies Skyline and Alien Invasion: The Battle of Los Angeles, the variation “how this time they will conquer us” no longer works properly. And the point here is not at all in the weakness of the script (in which films about the alien invasion he struck with the intricacies of the narrative?). Just such a topic has already been finally beaten and it is unlikely that the talent of any director or actor will be able to revive it (the recent “Fall of the Moon” will not let you lie). With warm nostalgia, you remember Independence Day, which was reproached for political correctness, stupidity. However, everything was in its place, simple, concise, spectacular. And the appearance of alien ships above the horizon can only be compared with biblical prophecies about the apocalypse. Sublime and magnificent! In the above pictures, too, a lot of shooting, hanging space dishes. But at the same time, the creators are trying their best to dilute all this with drama, psychological conflict. In Emmerich’s film, brave Americans, stamped dialogues about valor and duty are also found, but he was one of the first, and the fashion in 1996 was set for a cinematic total apocalypse (alien ships, fateful comets flew to Earth, giant insects multiplied, volcanoes erupted). Then for the inexperienced viewer it was interesting, fresh. Now, visitors to theaters need to give reflection to such films, which (if the film is made weakly) most often makes you bored and ironically smile. Almost at the same time as Independence Day, Men in Black came out, a comedic film. Elegant directing, inimitable humor, contrasting the duo Smith – Jones, wonderful visual effects, and most importantly – subtle self-parody made this film one of the best about the invasion of aliens. And now two ways are discovered - to create brave, rabid fantastic action films or, skillfully playing with the genre, or even completely forgetting about it, non-standard, mocking movies. “Skyline” and “Battle for Los Angeles” tapes showed that it is not easy to invent something fundamentally new – the same scheme repeats (with slight variations) that stops working. And in the genre of adventure comedy can still be born quite good films about aliens. Paul. The secret material is one of them.
Now we can see with our own eyes who the main character of Spielberg’s Alien became in the XXI century. Paul is no longer that gentle, quiet alien, but a weed-smoking and scolding type from the far reaches of space. One quality has remained unchanged - friendliness to the person. This is the same Spielberg school (where villains are conventional and caricatured, where an alien hero changes the lives of almost everyone he meets for the better), only seasoned - a tribute to our time - with genital jokes and vulgarity. So funny (from the film) that Paul in 1980 advises Steven Spielberg about his new creation (of course, “E.T.”), which will be released in a couple of years and will become a cultural event. Thanks to his boundless charm (and in addition to profanity, he does good deeds and has a charming charisma), banter (a sincere parody of another, more bloodthirsty alien guest - the Predator) Paul gets all the attention. People here are more likely to play a supporting role, some - helping Paul to come home, others - wanting to do experiments with him. With all the seeming comedy of what is happening, the filmmakers, and with them the alien hero himself, as if by chance, casually raise serious questions. For example, you get religion. The alien personifies that we are not alone in the universe, that he is not God’s creation. And in the course of the film, it deprives – or perhaps removes unnecessary dogmatic fetters? – the faith of those who had it. What do they get in return? Some people say freedom. Others are bad and vulgar habits. Let's figure it out, especially in such a frivolous film genre. Most importantly, I think Paul's friends and enemies both believed in him. Once on our land, he pushed the boundaries of the usual and rational, proving that there is not only in comics and books.
One day at dawn I was awakened by the barking of dogs. I see Master Yoda went out for a walk without his pants.
Two British geeks, Graham Willey and Clive Gollings (one of whom is also the author of strange comics about a space woman with three breasts) come to America for Comic-Con. And after the end of this event, they decide to go in a rented trailer to all historical places in the United States, at least somehow associated with aliens. On the way, friends play tricks, constantly reminding the viewer that they are simply crazy about the very idea of the advent of aliens, and, in particular, the possibility of meeting them.
Just half an hour after the beginning of the film, the dream meeting will take place. That’s just the alien Paul (despite his remarkable mental abilities) will not be the one who will be able to give our friends new, unprecedented knowledge (although such a moment will also arise in the course of the plot). Our green man drinks, smokes, smokes weed, swears, is moderately interested in women and periodically forgets to put on his pants, terrifying others. Graham and Clive, as usual, must save him from a chase organized by the security services. In general, what they fought for was under a pink ribbon in a gift from Destiny.
I must say, the creature Paul is just the sweetest (even an alien from Spielberg, a friend of the young Drew Barrymore, rests). What are the huge blue eyes (thank you to the artists and masters of computer effects); some of them turn the uterine relative of aliens from the “Signs” from an evil squinting monster into a delightfully touching brother in mind, whom you sympathize with just unconditionally, despite his sometimes antisocial behavior.
Bonus - incredibly funny references to many, many film stories, one way or another related to aliens. The spectacular appearance in the final of Sigourney Weaver even I was just delighted. Definitely - the plot will be interesting to fans of comic themes. But even for them, I think the "pantsless" jokes are somehow too often repeated. I think it’s funny every time.
The film is definitely worth watching for fans of the duo Simon Pegg - Nick Frost (here they themselves decided to laugh at the hints of homosexuality of their couple, who just in the year of filming Paul reached their apogee). For those of you who haven’t seen ‘Type of Cool Cops’, I think ‘Paul’ will be another British comedy with a very specific humor.

Often American comedies are initially stupid: lust, booze and who will spoil the air louder. Movies like this are all around. Finding a “masterpiece” from which the brain will not explode is difficult, but possible.
When I stumbled upon Paul: The Secret Material, my brain was able to relax. I will not say that this film is a masterpiece and I will review it a hundred times, but the humor, the plot is still simpler here than in most other American comedies.
The main character is Paul, he is an alien. A guy with a good sense of humor, for the most part does not cause squeamishness or any misunderstanding.
A little bit about the plot. Two guys from England are racing to a comedy-con. The guys are so turned on aliens that their route is built solely with the expectation of marking those places where they allegedly once saw extraterrestrial beings. They take pictures, buy themselves ridiculous things with the image of guests from another world. And nothing until the guys bump into Paul, knocking him down on the road. Can a trip get boring when an alien turns out to be a little specific? After all, Paul is not what the guys imagined. He smokes, swears, and makes fun of them every minute.
The film turned out to be bad and no less funny. There is a light humor, an unusual plot and, most importantly, an unpredictable ending. It is worth noting the graphics – the aliens came out exactly as I would imagine it. Very well drawn, as if this gender really exists.
The film pleased with its unusualness in American comedy cinema.

Nothing personal, but nothing special!
Yeah, it's a good movie. Even the kindest... It is a fairy tale for adults (given jokes and death). The film teaches goodness and peace. It is beautiful and pleasant, like a soft terry white towel after a Lenor rinse. There's a dozen Hollywood stars here. This is a comedy road movie, and also about aliens! Absolutely unstressful and even-- nice. . .
.. But this is an absolutely passable adventure film, about which, after 10 years, few people will remember. Personally, I decided to look at it - because those same 10 years ago I came across it (not from the beginning) and, as I now remember, I was holding my stomach smirking, because it was very rusty and funny, fun, and the voice and jokes (apparently) of Paul Voli well very deliver! Now, as I looked, I actually looked at him with an unflappable mine. Because humor to laugh does not encourage, and something new in the film is not.
.. For those who haven’t seen this story yet... If you have a question: do not watch? Then, of course, look. It's not gonna get any worse! No matter how you spin, and the film is not the worst, quite entertaining, a little even unique, well, jokes, you may still come in!
. . Thought... Who cares?

The secret material is a good comedy road movie with one big element of fiction.
This is a well-made picture with mostly good jokes. Movies, at least a little, but laugh every five minutes. You'll actually get a lot of fun, but preferably in company, it's always more fun. Also, the movie is filled with references to fiction - star trek\sw and other popular films or books in this genre.
Everything looks easy, with residual pleasant sensations, the film will cheer you up.
In the lead roles here, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, who may be familiar to you from “Typical Cool Cops” or “Zombie Named Sean”, these same actors wrote the script for Paul.
The heroes themselves are two bosom geek friends, that is, without a personal life. The alien himself is as douche as the main couple, only he is more practical and selfless, but chabalistic. Also on the voice of Paul familiar to us Paul Will. Which sounds very good in this role, after all, the syllable of the comedian is set.
Bottom line: it’s a good comedy to recommend as a movie for an evening to watch with friends.
This comedy was praised by several friends at different times, so I decided to get acquainted with it one day. At last, my hands have reached, and I can say with confidence that many people may not like my impressions. An interesting description and the cast perfectly contributed to the growth of my curiosity, but it was replaced by total disappointment.
Plot. Two English geeks come to America to get to the famous Comic Con festival. After that, they decide to visit all the UFO memorial sites near Area 51. At some point in the journey, they encounter an alien Paul, who asks friends for help.
It is difficult not to notice that the main attraction of the tape is a classic kind of alien. At the same time, it is worth paying attention to one important detail: who has not been used in various kinds of paintings. There were teddy bears, toys, cartoon characters, animals... There were aliens, by the way. Now the authors decided to surprise a talking gray alien who likes to drink, smoke weed and walk naked. In all other aspects, the film is not much different from the average passing picture, and in some episodes even fades away against the background of fellows. I would love to see more adventures from the fantastic road movie. There is only one twist closer to the final, but the problem is that 50% of the audience will solve it without any problems.
Atmosphere. Good camera work can not distract from the fact that small episodes here are weakly related. The general purpose of the characters is clear, but their characters sometimes do completely illogical and even strange things (for example, dancing at the sign). The acting didn’t impress me: that Simon Pegg (Graham), that Nick Frost (Clive) doesn’t seem to be trying convincingly. For comparison, the duet of actors in the film 'Homic Holiday' I liked many times more. Almost all the actors of secondary roles greatly overplay. This is especially noticeable in Joe Lo Truglio (agent O'Reilly).
Humor. I noticed a lot of ugly humor. In addition to the fact that it is often vulgar, the content of stupid and flat jokes in it is very annoying. For the whole tape there were several successful and funny scenes, but enough to laugh and failed.
Music. The tape has a good musical selection containing quality music. Among the songs included in its composition are 'Another Girl Another Planet' (The Only Ones) and 'All Over the World' (Electric Light Orchestra), which already says a lot. But, unfortunately, this was not enough to free the film from its own shackles of creative weakness.
Result. As a result of a fantastic comedy, there is simply nothing to surprise the viewer. If you just want to look at a computer humanoid and listen to jokes that are based on swearing and disgusting overtones, then I dare not stop you. I would recommend everyone else to refrain from watching.
We will be raped and our hands broken!
Oh, no, not your hands!
Perfect comedy to watch in the company! One, in principle, too. Funny (not without a fraction of toilet jokes, but they absolutely do not interfere). And the plot, despite some template, has something to surprise.
In the story, two geeks from England come to Comic Con, and then go on a trip to the iconic geek places of America. In Area 51, they encounter Paul, an alien who needs their help. It seemed that all dreams came true, but something as always goes wrong.
Simon Peg and Nick Frost are both writers and lead actors. I’m starting to get used to comedies with Simon Pegg, but they certainly can’t compare to this movie. He's probably the best I've ever seen him.
The level of humour is not as harsh as in Jay and Silent Bob, but you shouldn’t look at children anyway. And a lot of references to the cult films about aliens “Alien”, “Alien”, etc., and most of them are understandable even to those who have not watched them.
Big Brother is the cherry on the cake! The best example is how to make a tasty typical comedy out of a typical comedy.
By the way, without comparing with the original, I did not notice any sins in the Russian dubbing, so it was in vain that people cursed on Pasha Will.
Well, I can advise you, it's quite a lookable thing.
A film that will be one of the first if asked to name the best comedy. I didn’t like the zombie-shawn too much, the extreme “end of the world” is also not a fountain, but “Hot fuzz” is chic, and Paul is the pinnacle of this team’s creativity. A comedy that somehow turned out to be incredibly enjoyable.
What is the main message of the film is the main question. All somewhat baffled by these low-grade jokes, various fun stories, chases, road adventures, shootouts, fun conversations at the campfire, etc.
But all this makes it difficult to see the essence, the main message of the film. Paul (the alien) voices this thought himself. He says that earthlings (residents of planet Earth) for decades stuffed him with an image (in movies, comics, games, cartoons, etc.).
But this was done so that the inhabitants of the Earth did not faint when meeting someone like this, did not immediately start shooting, did not start to go crazy.
But as the movie shows - even the most open to the new people who have read tons of fantastic literature - were not able to perceive a living alien calmly and not fall into a stupor.
On the example of two friends of geeks / nerds / nerds, we (the audience) should have seen a normal calm reaction to the appearance of Paul. But what we saw was that we saw that the fiction remained for them fiction (no matter how much you read it or see it).
They were unable to believe anything like that. Their thinking was blinded and remained the same. And one of these friends is trying to write fantastic literature.
We also see the reactions of other people. For example, rather fanatical religious people (the girl and her father). The situation here is even worse - either faint or immediately open fire.
The conclusion can be made disappointing - people have been stuffed with fantasy about aliens for decades (including about Paul's brothers), but there is little sense in this. Even these two friends are blind and immune to the new.
In order to remove the blues or to lift the mood, I recommend watching a comedy with Simon Pegg once a week. This British comedian works magic on the screen.
The plot is quite primitive at first, acquires color when two geeks get acquainted with an alien life form. All aliens people have seen 1000 times (one paw Xenomorphs worth), but Paul is an exceptional character. He's the kind of person who's got to say a smart thing. All theories, historical records and secret locations that are known to the world, the alien stops at the root. Space dishes? Weird signs in the fields? Area 51? Pfft. There's an explanation from Paul. It’s fun to watch such a company. Weirds and aliens.
Cheatings, jokes, new acquaintances will please the viewer for the entire time of the adventures of this cheerful company. Are the secret agents worried? Need to catch an alien? A couple of jokes about the Men in Black and you don't pay attention to the twists of the plot. What is interesting is not the finale, which is already clear in the middle of the viewing, but the achievement of the goal. A little fantasy, and again jokes, jokes, jokes. Sometimes they do not stretch the dialogue, sometimes in moderation, sometimes exceed all expectations - everything will be collected here.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are a close-knit team. Guys complement each other in movies. Paul's voiceover by Paul Volley was separately assessed positively.
Paul. Secret material", or "nbsp; literally translated simply "Paul.
There was a strong desire to see this film in the year of its release, because according to the opinions of my friends who watched this film, it is quite worthy of viewing. However, it turned out to see it only after 5 years. And I totally joined the consensus on this film.
Two geeks finally come true dream and they, having traveled on a house-van quite a distance, get to Comic.con, after which they, already overflowing with emotions, meet quite friendly, talkative and liberated alien who introduced himself as Paul (in honor of the dead dog, which suffered a tragic fate on the arrival of Paul). Over a foreign resident conducted experiments, and in order not to delay his stay in the laboratory, which every day was even more dangerous, he prefers to escape and falls in the way of following the two above characters, one of which (Grame) plays Simon Pegg (the actor I know, to play comic characters he always worked well, as in this comedy). The second geek is played by Nick Frost (Clive), first heard of him, his game did not cause a negative reaction. It is noteworthy that the voice of Paul himself is the voice of Pavel Volya during the Russian dubbing, and this was not lost, it turned out to be an interesting voiceover. Paul has problems, and Clive and Graham, having opened their mouths with amazement and even fainting, agree to help him, leaving the pursuit of the feds and getting into various troubles in this regard.
The film is quite original and interesting, its viewing brought a lot of pleasure and good mood, I did not have any complaints during and after watching. This film teaches friendship and says that you need to help another, even though he is from another planet.
The image of Paul was also perfectly worked out, both internal and external signs, the visual component as a whole pleased the eye and allowed you to enjoy a good picture.
As I said earlier, I have only a positive opinion about this comedy and I have no right not to recommend it for viewing.

The work of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg for the mass audience has turned into an entertaining film trilogy, which includes “Zombie named Sean”, “Typical Cool Cops” and “Sex: Secret Material”. All these pictures are unusual in their own way - the first film not only laughs, but also carries a large share of sadness and morality, the second is a comedy that grows into an irrepressible action movie, and the third is a real hooligan comedy, the only purpose of which is to have fun!
I’m a big fan of science fiction and that’s why Greg Mottola’s picture couldn’t pass me by, especially considering that Pegg and Frost are the color of modern English comedy. The action of the film takes us to America, where two best friends and part-time geeks come, who are crazy about cosmic, fantastic, scary, nightmare and simply crazy adventures in all their manifestations. Along the way, the guys meet a lot of interesting and even dangerous, but the crown of their road tour in America becomes an acquaintance with a wonderful alien. So, please shake hands. Paul! This is not just a harmless guest from distant galaxies, but a more girded version of the well-known alien Alpha, only green and without hair! It is Paul that must save our heroes from state agents led by the character Jason Bateman, and help him get to the ship of his relatives.
I will say at once – this story is full of obscene statements and sharp jokes – they laugh at the resurrection from the dead, at religious fanaticism, and at full people. They laugh at everything! And most importantly, this does not spoil the film, but rather emphasizes its plot. So you need to get the kids off the screen and enjoy this hooligan mix yourself! Among the secondary characters, I will highlight the small role of Jeffrey Tembor in the role of the well-known science fiction writer Adam the Dark, who looks at the world apathetically and clearly suffers from star disease. In addition to him, expect to see on the screen a couple of famous stars in extraordinary roles. There will be something to see here!
Also note the juicy dialogue, especially funny repeated phrases -
They saw Adam the Dark One!
- What the fuck?
Well, he wrote a novel with an alien, etc.
- Are you a little kid?
This dialogue, with minor changes, permeates the film and in the context of the plot is invaluable!
The film has a lot of allusions to famous science fiction films. Among them are an epic battle of Kirk and a lizard taken from Star Trek, a melody in a bar and costumes from Star Wars, borrowings from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and more. It is so nice to find these quotes in the film and understand that classic fiction cannot be forgotten.
I want to recommend this picture to all connoisseurs of good fiction and hooligan humor. “Sex: The Secret Material” is one of the best comedies of our time and carries a sea of positivity. You will want to go back to this story again. Bravo, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Greg Mottola!

You know how cool it is here. You know, that's it.
- Right?
- Yes!
In fact, this statement from the beginning of the film applies to him as a whole. There is no need to paint the plot, you will read it in a lot of other places, so immediately to the point.
The main reason to watch the movie was the presence of Simon and Nick in the lead roles. I loved all the movies with the couple, and I was sure I wouldn’t be disappointed. And, of course, he wasn't disappointed.
Well, since I'm basically about the same geek as Glavheroes - the story of two English weird-ass fantasists who met an alien in the Nevada desert, I couldn't help but like it, even regretted not watching it in the theater, somehow it passed me by. I would also like to go to Comiccon, yes, on the extraterrestrial highway, but I visited the black mail box. I wish I had landed from that phone room in Mojave, but it was, alas, demolished. I’m definitely going to leave.
So I loved almost everything about the film, and of course, the charismatic Paul himself, and how his story with Clyfe and Graham develops, what kind of shit they suffer from, and how and what they mock. Especially mocked, of course, religion, so that ardent churchmen are unlikely to like this movie, well, and their problem. However, a lot of banter is embellished with a spoonful of morality - in serious moments, Glavheroes say the right things.
Thank you to the cameraman too, he took beautiful shots, the film turned out very atmospheric in the right places.
In general, if you are a fan of fiction, a geek, a nerd, and in general a big child - you will have this movie to taste. Even if not, the movie was really funny.
"Paul: The Secret Material" (originally simply "Paul") tells the story of how two geeks, played by Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, meet an alien Paul, who escaped from a military base in the well-known Area 51, who is now wanted by intelligence agents and the military. Friends decide to help Paul get home. In the story, this trio travels on a van owned by geeks, meeting many motley characters on their way.
This film is quite typical for the star couple of American comedians, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. He is absurd, quite rude and cruel, in places too vulgar. In the manner of narration, this tape is a classic road-movie movie. The plot, like the script as a whole, is very typical, banal and simple. It is simply boring to watch what is happening. Not save the film even its main feature – alien Paul, constantly making jokes about the genre clichés of films about guests from another planet and mass culture, constantly mentioning the well-known names of film characters and creative figures. Some of these jokes are amusing, some are left indifferent, but there are no truly inventive moments that can sow a grain in the viewer’s head, which will gradually grow. These are all the same, sometimes primitive, jokes, but this time presented on behalf of an alien, not a person. The authors’ expectation was that the audience would laugh at the fact that the alien was talking about things that he was not supposed to talk about. The humor of the film is exactly that. It works, but only the first half of the film, then gradually gets bored and finally turns into a clown.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, a popular acting duo, once again appear in familiar images, rubbed to holes. Exactly the same characters, with absolutely identical characters, but in different shells, have already appeared in many films, for example, “Typical Cool Cops” and “Zombie Named Sean”. These images, frankly, are already annoying, although initially they were very original and interesting.
Bottom line: “Sex: The Secret Material” is a typical modern comedy, with standard characters and jokes that take place in many other films, as well as an attempt to partially revive the genre, which, alas, was crowned with failure.
And what would you do if you met them? – Well, the first contact is responsible. Are they in peace, and are we in peace? No, that's not my approach.
A really good modern comedy, it is unlikely to impress with sophistication of humor or incredibly witty scenes, but will allow you to pass a boring evening.
A simple and somewhat idiotic story for a comedy is more likely even in the pluses. After all, the more ridiculous and strange the trip, the more unusual and funny scenes can be inserted into it. Therefore, the story of an alien who escaped from a government base and met ridiculous but memorable characters could well have shot. But it didn't work out...
And it seems that the characters turned out to be interesting, but they remain not too open. Simon Pegg is always good, and the images of various geeks are best for him. Yes, and his constant partner Nick Frost very cool fit into this image. Watching the changes in the character of Kristen Wiig is also fun, although they seem too drastic.
But the main star of the film is of course Paul. The alien turned out wonderfully, a real embodiment of all clichés and stereotypes, played with a considerable amount of humor. And references to pop culture from his mouth are particularly sarcastic. It is a pity that in many scenes the humor is too banal and monotonous.
"Sex: The Secret Material". How I came to see this picture. I just noticed that people give high marks. But last night I watched this movie and dared to appreciate it.
Well, about the high marks, I'm not ready to join. Not even immediately imbued with the atmosphere and the message of the film. The atmosphere and the message are simple and clear. And it got to me this morning. It's kindness. Why not immediately? Now is the time to explain...
Well, basically, what did they show? It's a simple story. Light and baby. Primitive and unpretentious. And clichéd with flat humor. Add to this two geeks on the brink of freaks, the hidden propaganda of gays, and here is the answer.
But, as I said, it was the same movie in the morning, without revision, it seemed bright to me. Pulled it by the ears and great - himself Paul. Voiced by our Paul Will character, literally falls in love with the viewer. And that for what purpose he gave to Earth, what adventures will happen to him and, if he survives, whether he will fly back to himself, I probably did not set myself the task of necessarily finding out. Really? Deep down, I was hoping there would be some unconventional move. By the way! In part, to my surprise, I got it.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are literally everything in this movie. And the script is also presented with a certain twist. Of course, Paul just grabbed the blanket. But that's what it was designed for. This green bastard is literally capable of changing the worldview. But he also has a trump card in his sleeve, carefully thrown by the same Pegg and Frost. Paul has the ability to heal! . .
Again, from the non-existence of a career path, Sigourney Weaver has returned. And I like that too.
In general, there are components for the positive aspects of lighting. There is also good humor (apart from the one I mentioned). This film can even be recommended. But, alas, it is not enough for me to put a too high score ...

Gream and Clive at the beginning of the film looked like some losers who finally rushed to their dream called the United States, where they had been dreaming of visiting since the time they watched Alien. But it turned out that these guys are not so simple – along the way they picked up Paul, an alien who “marred” their journey through territories where UFOs were once seen.
Also on the way, they catch the girl Ruth, who, as it turned out, has a completely bruised father, because of whom she did not see the light of white. But she goes on a journey with them. On the journey, the whole company experiences a real action with shots, changing clothes and escaping from the people who pursued them.
"Unbreakable people"
Sex should be given special attention. This is the most insolent, the most stoned, the funniest humanoid that humans have ever met. And because they didn't meet them that often, especially this company, he's something they don't understand, not because he doesn't want to take their anal tests, but because this alien is acting like a real person. He is not averse to drinking, making fun of friends and sprinkling phrases that you may remember for a long time after watching the film. He's absolutely charming. Another plus for Paul's voiceover is Paul Volya, who came here in a very convenient way.
In our kitchen, an alien cuts buns and makes coffee.
- Did you want tea?
- Buns and coffee... Wow, jam.
I don’t really like the comedy genre. Many American comedies are the same – they have too much sex, alcohol and awkward situations, no matter what you did. Almost all of them are on the verge of foul. This comedy, in principle, is no exception. But she's absolutely charming. It is fascinating that there is such a wonderful alien guest. Charming these slightly out of this world friends, who may have been considered crazy by many, but they still made their dream come true. Another plus for a good ending - the best way to remember the adventures with Paul - is to write a book about him, on the cover of which it is already clear that this "green man" is clearly not without a sense of humor.

I think I’m a big fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I like their style. And, very well, they can make the audience laugh by using at least a vulgar, even a stupid or normal joke. Anyway, in this movie they were amazing too.
The plot is quite simple and interesting. Two friends from England first came to America for the ComicCon festival, after which they go to Area 51, and then they meet Paul, an alien from another planet. He asks for their help, says he's being hunted by agents because he ran away from them, and Paul himself has been on our planet for a long time. Friends pick him up and say they'll help him get home. But so simply the agents will not let him go, and Paul and the guys go on a difficult but fun journey.
The film does not give much to miss because there are not only vulgar jokes Paul in relation to everyone, but also interesting situations in which friends-geeks get. Unfortunately, in the beginning, before the talkative alien appeared, the humor wasn't as funny as it was in the middle and end of the film. But that doesn’t mean watching the beginning of the movie is boring. It just doesn't have the main and funniest character. It is obvious that the writers tried to come up with jokes for the main character, and then for their heroes.
Paul is an easy, very not boring fantastic comedy that does not leave indifferent. It leaves behind a pleasant feeling. You can watch the film to dullly cheer up or really see something with meaning. Anyway, humor isn't stupid. Doubly allow you to enjoy the film beautiful acting. Do not forget about special effects, even if they are few. The film is slightly inferior in previous films by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Anyway, it's not a bad funny comedy with funny actors.
Once, filming a third-rate creation, the directors tried to hint at the similarity with a successful film. So, warm up under the wing.
But this period of cinema is gone forever. Now the creators 'masterpieces' hint at the secondary of something.
Remember how in 'Bruce Almighty' Is God talking about Gandhi? This shows the political activity of Gandhi as a consequence of the events of the film.
The creators of the material floor do something similar. Instead of the activities of politicians, a blow is struck at the activities of directors.
Spielberg shot 'Close Encounters' and 'Alien'? Carter launched 'X files'? 15 years of filming 'Star Trek'? Lucas created 'A New Hope'?
All these - and many others - legendary milestones in the history of cosmofiction, thanks to the Half-Secret, appear before the viewer in the form of cheap recyclables.
At one time, an Italian called the cheap recyclable products of Ferrari car plants. The offended manufacturers accused him of unfoundedness ' everyone can scold, he would try to create a car ' And he did. Lamborghini.
In the case of Paul, the situation is completely different - the film does not create anything.
It's not just not better than 'Close contacts' or 'X files' which are secondary. It is not even comparable to them, for it contains nothing good, nothing legendary - nothing on which to build a comparison ' better or worse'.
Comedy at last. Comedy is real, fun, easy, funny, with a sea of positive. I was beginning to feel like I had forgotten how to shoot.
The modern film space is simply filled with youth comedies. Beautiful boys and girls light up here and there, disperse, fall in love.
At first it was pretty funny, "American Pie," "Bachelor Party in Vegas," and so on and so forth. Such films caused a sea of audience interest among young people and we all admired the cool adventures and crazy antics of the main characters. And after Hollywood launched a real conveyor and as usual in such cases in the genre of “youth comedy” everything became predictable, banal and as a result not interesting and boring.
Creation of Greg Mottola in this context acted as a breath of fresh air, in the smog of stamps and frank banalism.
Clive and Graham, two old friends united by a passion for the alien, go on a long journey to the most popular places in the United States that are associated with their favorite hobby. And then, right on the road meet the dream of his life – a real alien!! What could be better?
The alien guest is very own, simple and cool guy, this amazes both the main characters and the interested viewer on the other side of the screen. Named after a dog shot down on his own when landing not the Earth, the alien Paul swears with a mat, smokes cigarettes and not only, likes to drink, and he is very social, has an incredible sense of humor and the same incredible fantastic possibilities.
In an attempt to break away from the FBI agents who are chasing Paul on their heels, our heroes continue their comic journey, getting into terribly funny alterations, accompanied by very witty dialogues and jokes in the performance.
Your new green friend.
One of the main keys to the success of the film, in addition to sparkling humor, is a perfectly modeled image of the main character. Paul's facial expressions perfectly express all his emotions, causing the most positive feelings. Paul bribes with his honesty and simplicity, he has charisma and charm and after a short acquaintance with him, is perceived no longer as a cartoon-drawn image, but as a real, yes - it is a real "his own board" alien. You can’t describe it, you just have to look at it.
The acting (Paul is out of competition) is very good and quality. The two main characters performed by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, appearing at first, some too simple and unpretentious, then fit perfectly into the picture and understand that perhaps this is the “backside” they should be here. The rest are also at the level, it makes no sense to single out someone from the secondary roles - everyone coped.
Summing up – “Sex, the secret material”, a great comedy with an interesting, unusual and incredibly fascinating plot. The film is filled with witty lines and dialogue, it will not let you get bored for a minute - and this is what a real comedy should be. The persona of Paul himself is just something with something, she definitely deserves your attention and the most flattering epithets.
There were no obvious drawbacks in the movie. Yes, it was not without traditional stamps, but the creators do not allow this to focus attention, entertaining and funny the viewer from the first to the last minute of the picture.

With the hope of continuing, handsome Paul wants to see more.
One night, looking for something positive, I came across this movie. Truth be told, I really hoped that the film would be at least a good one, because so many factors, such as the evaluation of the search, the idea of Simon Pegg in the lead roles, indicated that the film would definitely be worth the interest. I had no idea how wrong I was.
To begin with, the idea is really great! I love all these American geeks, comic book fans, Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly and all the other science fiction classics. If the creators did not step on the slippery path of vulgarity and mat, then it would be a cool full-length in the style of “The Big Bang Theory”. Alas and ah, apparently, toilet humor is much easier to sell than humor, which you need at least a little thought.
But what bothered me the most was the translation. I will not say that in the original everything is so white and fluffy (specially found scripts), but our translators finally overstepped the stick by specifically reducing the vocabulary of the characters. I was especially killed by Paul's voice. Well, does he like the voice and expressions of Paul Will (don’t be offended, people who like him, but he was clearly out of topic). Although without the Will mat was just above the roof. I'm sorry, and after that, who will call this film a "positive film for the whole family", which position it?
Even the acting did not please me at all. It’s nice to look at Simon Pegg, but in this frank farce he gets lost and looks confused or out of place. The rest of the actors are not to the village or the city. Even Sigonie Weaver, which was supposed to be a kind of surprise culmination, looked more stupid than interesting.
The plot of the film is simple and banal. It is very predictable, and the writers immediately revealed one of the main features of the climax. So, nothing new and exciting ending portends.
There is no atmosphere in the film. It does not delay, so it looks long and boring.
But the worst part is that five minutes after watching, you completely forget what you were watching. Most likely, this is due both to the joy that the film finally ended, and the fact that it leaves no questions and reasons for reflection. If only, where did the censors look? Is this what modern culture looks like?
In fact, you can actually watch the movie. All you have to do is turn off all thought processes. I don’t see the point of it though.

The film earned three points by the fact that it stars Simon Pegg and the fact that the idea is still great!
Nice viewing!
Are we alone in the universe? This question was asked by people from generation to generation and no one could give a clear answer. After all, if we are alone, where are the wall paintings made by ancient people that the gods came from the sky? Why the frescoes of the Egyptians about people with animal heads rewarding for good deeds and punishing for bad deeds? Yes, of course, mankind has long believed in all kinds of gods, but those gods looked and behaved like humans. At least, if you believe the legends that have survived to our days. What about the gods who are different from humans? After all, there was a lot of evidence that the ancient man was very bad with imagination and he drew what he saw. We may have been visited by aliens in the past. And maybe they visited the land half a century ago? After all, it is not for nothing that cinema, eyewitness testimonies and all kinds of printed materials are trying to convince people that aliens are anthropomorphic creatures one and a half meters tall, dystrophic and with a huge head? Maybe the government is feeding people half-truths so we're ready to meet foreign guests? And today's guest is trying to tell the secrets that the US government is hiding at Base 51. So, this is "The floor is the secret material."
Two bosom friends decide to go on a trip in order to have fun, visit the Comic Con, drive through the most famous places where aliens have been seen and what the hell is no joke, can be met by a living alien. No, why not? Miracles happen. And yes, a miracle did happen when Clive and Graham faced a cynical, but at the same time extremely charming alien named Paul, but in addition to the fact that the childhood dream was fulfilled, young people were in mortal danger because they are now being chased by “men in black” wanting to return the alien to the cage, furious truckers, whom the heroes “scratched” the car and a crazy priest. This is a great time for Comic Con!
Despite such an intriguing description, the first fifteen minutes go quite slowly. The viewer is introduced to the main characters of the picture, good guys and loyal friends, but the trouble of their communication with the outside world promises to be much better. This is not surprising given the fact that young people spend most of their time reading comic books, watching science fiction films and related literature. But then the characters meet Paul, and the film literally blossoms before our eyes. Something happens here every few minutes. Peaceful scenes alternate with scenes of the chase and all this is seasoned with good humor, as well as qualitatively staged dialogues, so it is very, very difficult to take your eyes off the "cabbage" that is happening on the screen.
And since I mentioned Paul, I should say a few words about this charming alien. Yes, most of the budget of the picture went to him, but it was really worth it, because the floor does not look like an expensive special effect drawn on the computer. He looks like a living creature with amazing facial expressions. As for his character, in our age, in which aliens are shown as evil invaders or an aggressive tangle of teeth and claws, it is unusual to see a kind alien. Yes, he is quite cynical and likes to make fun of both his companions and his pursuers, but he does it kindly and in general does not want to offend anyone. And his rudeness is the result of the alien being kept locked up for about sixty years. Of course, after that you will look at the world with a healthy dose of irony!
As for the other characters of the picture, despite the fact that closer to the end of the film the number of characters exceeds two dozen, none of the characters is lost against the general background. After all, each of the characters has both individual traits and goals that they pursue, and thanks to this, the characters have good chances to be remembered for a fairly long period of time. I'm not talking about the actress who played the leader of the Men in Black. I will not disclose her identity, but I will only say that this woman is best suited for the role of Big Brother.
Summing up, I want to say that we have a beautiful fantastic comedy, which is both a tribute to the classic, consider Spielberg, films about aliens and a wonderful pastime alone or in a campaign of friends. So if you haven’t seen this wonderful film yet, I strongly advise you to correct this unfortunate omission as soon as possible. I'm going to say no.

P.S. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are great actors on their own, but when they do it together, something incredible happens. And if there are a few more films with the participation of this couple, we can safely say that we have a kind of reincarnation of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, and that would be just fine.
I myself believe in aliens, but I don’t really like movies about them, although I really liked Paul: The Secret Material. Great humor, interesting story, and Paul himself is a very unusual and funny character.
In the first few minutes, I was thinking about turning off this movie and watching another one, because the 1947 story was very boring. But when “our time” began and I saw “Comic Cohn,” two friends traveling across America, and eventually a living alien, I was immediately drawn to watch the film further.
Throughout the film I could not take my eyes off, everything was so interesting and humorous.
In general, I would advise anyone who loves comedies to see this wonderful film, I’m sure you will like it.
What can I say about this comedy? Great! I don’t want to quote, tell fragments of the plot, just a super comedy. There are moments that you can laugh at from the heart, and in principle the whole film is light and built only on humor. Good artists, everything is fine, of course, this comedy is not for the whole family, because you yourself understand the difficult moments. This is only for young people, although why some can also look at youth, laugh.
Paul was especially pleased, with the voice of Paul Voli. The only alien that worked well in graphic terms, worked out.
The main characters also did not fail, picked up two funny nerds so it turned out even better.
I can also continue to watch it with pleasure. But since this comedy is created just to laugh not a dozen, but for a good mood.

Here it is, the forerunner of "Ted"! as always, I heard about this film, but my hands did not reach. There was no desire. But it's all fixed. Everyone should be on this path sooner or later.
Famous humorous Englishmen Frost and Pegg decided to move to another continent. Of course, invisibly they have been there for a long time, but now these guys have the main roles. Besides, they wrote the script. This couple, along with Edgar Wright, did a lot of business.
And the director was a rather famous director in the comedy field. Add to this the famous American comedians of modern times. And Seth Rogen took on the voice of the obscene and friendly alien.
For fans of comics and science fiction films, this film is a good reason to look for quotes and laugh from the heart. Other viewers might just laugh.
Sometimes it seems that the action is a little prolonged. But the thing is that the spacecraft is very long rise.
You can meet a couple of very famous people. One woman begins to fashion her appearance at the end of the film as the main and most terrible villain. This is the second time I have seen this.
So the movie is definitely good. He is full of everything that can be stuffed with such a film. And it doesn't make you sick. On the contrary, you really enjoy watching. And the love line is quite common.
Do you think he's going to be okay?
- What will happen to him?
In our kitchen, an alien cuts buns and makes coffee.
- Did you want tea?
"Sex: The Secret Material" - another film, where in the center of all the events, the well-known Area 51 in Nevada is involved, but this time the movie turned out to be very exciting, interesting and funny. The plot tells about two friends, at first glance, they are very different, but when they start talking, you will realize that you have two ardent fans of science fiction. Two friends were well played by actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Simon, who's famous for this stupid zombie movie called Sean, I think after that stupid movie, he's hard to forget. Friends return home on a dark night, after the coolest festival "Comic Cohn". The boys love science fiction and everything connected with it so much that they came in their van, as much as from England, not to lose the opportunity, they went home through the desert of Nevada to ride places where, according to scientists and other people, aliens appeared before.
Why do I understand you? Did you use a neurolinguistic channel?
- Well, actually, I'm talking to you, you idiot!
Fate is destiny, on their way there is a real alien who will faint from powerlessness. The guys did not get lost and dragged a future friend into their van, it was from this place that the adventure began. It turned out that Paul, a lost alien creature, on the trail of which the security services are trying to get out. The guys decide to help Paul, because they got along with him in just one night very well, and realized that such a cute alien is not that the world will not be able to capture, he will not even rob a store. In the future, the film turns into a pursuit of our main characters, it is clear that during their running, there is a lot of fun and unforgettable humor. I like such troubles, where in films, the main characters are not only real people, but also computer graphics, it is always nice to watch. In general, the film turned out to be very good, separately praising Pasha Will for Paul's excellent voice acting. The film is exclusively intended for viewing by the whole company, it is really possible to dress up. Summing up, comedy directed by Greg Mottol, I approved.
We will be raped and our hands broken!
Graham: Oh no, not your hands.
