Maybe the future isn’t fixed, I don’t know. Perhaps the past is not predetermined...
The film is bright, beautiful, new, fresh, different. It differs from Terminator 3 more than Terminator 3 differs from Terminator 2. At the same time, there are many moments of nostalgia (a reference to the first Terminator, the childhood of Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese), a lot of action (explosions, takeoffs, shooting, chases), a lot of humor (Nice to meet you, Terminator smile, Papps), touching moments (where the Terminator, waiting for 33 years Sarah, misses her like his own daughter, calling her “My Sarah”).
This is a completely different trilogy (Terminator 5, 6, 7). Here is our time (2017, not the 80-90s), new technologies (this is not just robots with chips, but artificial intelligence based on the Genesis operating system, which is the future Skynet), new technologies in shooting (liquid metal, the new John Connor).
It feels like so much has been left unexplained (and left on Terminator 6, 7): it's both Sarah Connor's childhood and Terminator's humanity (where he works, gets to know people, jokes, smiles). Perhaps in the next part, we will already see John, who will be born in our time (in the 2018-2020s), where he is not a bully from Terminator 2, but a smart boy. So far, the future of the new films has not been determined.
The actors are excellent. Honestly, I haven't watched Game of Thrones, and this is the first time I've watched Emilia Clarke. Pretty good and lively. Sarah Connor is already fighting, strong, courageous, unlike Sarah Connor the first Terminator. She is nothing but a Terminator (Terminator 3). Schwarzenegger is excellent, you can feel the experience of filming in many films, including Terminators. "Old, but not useless."
Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to the past. History is rewritten. Everything you loved in the '90s is an alternate past that we will always remember no matter what. The T-2 movie, which I watched 70 times, almost every month, coming after school, which was played on TV all the time, remains the best in the series, but has already been rewritten. It just didn't happen. There was no killing of Sarah Connor's girlfriends (T-1), no John in the '90s, no nuclear explosion in August 1997 and 2004. It's 2017. So far, everything is fine.
The Terminator teaches us humanity. Something that so many people lack. The one that will save us, the people.
“An unknown future awaits us. But for the first time, I look at it with hope. If a robot, a Terminator, can realize the value of human life, perhaps we can too. Sarah Connor (Terminator 2).
Like many people, I was afraid to watch this movie. Honestly, I expected the worst, despite the attractive trailers and snippets. In fact, this film crossed out the events of the previous parts and the creators decided to start everything from scratch.
The main disadvantage for me was the plot. The first half-hour, where the events and characters of the first two parts of The Terminator were mixed, pleased. I don’t know if I missed something or if the creators left it for later, but it wasn’t clear how the aging Terminator got to 9-year-old Sarah. The film is then moved to 2017. John Connor was reprogrammed and turned into something like Ultron from The Avengers, equally almost invulnerable and eager to destroy all life. What will happen to him is not difficult to guess. In general, the plan to seize power is trivial and boring.
Our good old Arnie was pleasantly surprised by his humor. I also liked the presence of the new Oscar-winning Simmons, the star of “Game of Thrones” Emilia Clark, but her namesake, as John Connor, did not like it at all. From the beginning, even before the introduction of machine functions, he had the same facial expression, a cunning grin, and with it he remained to the end. It is a pity could not participate in the project Christian Bale, who played John in the previous part, and “liquid Terminator” Robert Patrick.
In general, the film made a dual impression: on the one hand, a change in the past, which always makes a positive impression on me, good special effects, famous actors. On the other hand, a bad plot, painfully familiar actions and plans of negative characters, etc. It was a mix of a huge number of films. But more depressing is the fact that there are still 2 parts ($$) ahead, which, I dare assume, may turn out worse than the third and fourth parts.
It may have been less, but
Very skeptical of the new part of the Terminator, they say, how much can the idea of “rape” and what else can be offered. And I also predicted my negative review in advance, and no, I was wrong, very much.
Let’s start with the fact that my eyes were happy to see Arnold “Terminator” Schwarzeneger. He is a very good actor, but there are few films with him. He played his role in an amazing way. Where the script was conceived funny moments were really funny. His smile is incomparable.
By the way, I really liked how the senile appearance of the terminator was explained. So I was generally very afraid that I would make it on a computer young, or not.
Emilia "Sarah" Clarke has also done very well in her role. It’s not unusual to see her not as the “mother of dragons,” but it doesn’t matter because she was good in the movie.
About Jay "Kyle" Courtney, I don't know what. I confess that I have not met him in films before or just don’t remember, so for me debuted, but very good.
I was surprised to see Matt “Doctor Who” Smith.
I won’t say anything about music, but I definitely don’t speak badly about it.
What can be said in general is that the movie keeps on going from start to finish, you never know what will happen next. By the way, there was a scene where I cried.
My verdict is this: if you want to have a good time alone, with friends, with family or with a loved one, then go to the Terminator, you will not spare time and money. You will laugh (I promise you this), you will be shocked (I promise you this too). The most important thing is that you do it.
Finally, I went to the cinema to see Genesis. Emotions are massive and – crazy! – they are all positive.
The film turned out to be, to put it mildly, contradictory, it can equally as well as like or not. So I’m not going to condemn anyone who scolds the film, because, again, the Terminator is a different one.
I will not describe the shortcomings of the film, because there will be others who completely scold the film (I will not condemn these people, because their criticism, believe me, will be appropriate).
As for me, I personally did not have to get bored for a second. And therefore, the disadvantages in the tape do not want to look for. I'll only mention the positives, because they are a lot.
Excellent visual series, well dosed action and dialogue, not brilliant, but logical and thoughtful plot and, importantly, a very decent acting.
You can talk about all the actors and their characters, but I will focus on the three most liked.
So let's get started.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jai Courtney. Yes, yes, exactly those two. And if the first does not need to be introduced (Great-Great Arnie), then the second, as it turned out, is a real smart girl.
There were a lot of unflattering comments about the Australian (and there will be, believe me), and in vain, because he played great. I was even somewhat surprised to see how well I managed to embody the image of a “good guy” to someone who always plays brutal villains. Pain, despair, hope, fear - all this was played on "excellent", albeit without the infernal half-mad tear, which brilliantly passed his game the reference Kyle Reese performed by my favorite Michael Bien. However, this is not about him now. Watching the movie, I honestly tried to cling to Courtney's performance, to find the gross flaws, but they just weren't there. Well-transmitted emotions I literally felt, and I would never believe those who would swear that Courtney could not play properly. Yes, his Sergeant Reese is completely different, but do not forget that the film is different, not a gloomy and industrial fantastic thriller, literally soaked in hopelessness, where the incarnation of Bien was 100% perfect and necessary, and a modern, lively, fantastic action movie, with the presence of humor, and what! (another feature of Genesis). So, in the framework of this film, the image of Kyle came out excellent and does not deserve such unflattering criticism from some viewers.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is unmatched as ever. And his T-800 in Genesis I like much more than the reference T-800 from the 1st film. He is such a hardened, “aged” cyborg, in which “the human soul is felt.” Arnie is unparalleled, his role was, is and will be his, and if other actors can be changed, he will never be. Although there were some innovations. No wonder I mentioned the humor of Genesis, it is really excellent and appropriate. Its main share falls on just two of the above-mentioned characters, Reese and T-800, to which the third “in the configuration” she goes – the same Sarah Connor, around which the whole action revolves. Emilia is a smart girl, I was just crazy about her, what can we say about her lover from the future.
Actually, the tandem of these two is incredibly good. Beautiful, young and fearless. They are so used to fighting that the real prospect of a peaceful future and very close happiness frightens them both almost more than the likely “end of the world”. Courtney and Clark look so great in a pair, so heartfelt play the feelings of their characters that it is impossible to take your eyes off them. Especially in a couple of scenes where the viewer literally held his breath. And here, I will say, perhaps a seditious thing, but this tandem to some extent I liked even more than the reference Hamilton-Bien tandem, for the relationship of the new Sarah and Kyle is cleaner, more beautiful and - oh happiness! - much more likely happy in the final. Besides, what a sin to hide, to watch how they are a couple of Terminators — a dream come true of my childhood!
So, gentlemen, in conclusion, we can say that everyone will decide for himself whether "Genesis" is worth it or not, but personally I liked this film very much, yes, it is ambiguous, yes, there are disadvantages in it, but against the background of all the pros, the disadvantages are simply lost. Thus, while someone records the Fifth Terminator (for me, the Third, because it is directly related to the First Two) “in the failures of the year”, I boldly enroll him “in this year’s favorite films” and put him on the list.
10 out of 10
Yes, that's right.
I will not advise anyone, let everyone decide for themselves whether to watch this tape or not.
I confess, I went to the movie in hopes of seeing the continuation of Part 2. I saw every movie, but not the Terminator. I still don’t understand why this film should be linked to the Terminator series. Now in essence,
- The Terminator had almost no science fiction, strictly adhered to the laws of physics (the only departure is a trip to the past). There are also continuous special effects, helicopter chases that are half torn, 2 time machines, nanorobots that turn a person into a terminator (I never understood why), etc. Perhaps it is a tribute to time.
- Absolutely meaningless dialogue actors. It seems that the Terminators do not want to kill people, but just talk for life. The T1000, before attacking Kyle, tells him what the date is and that today is the day of his arrival. the old T800, instead of killing the young one as effectively as possible, says: ' I was waiting for you' (I don't think the young teminator was interested in hearing that). The film is about 100500.
- Terminators are not powerful super-strong alloy robots, but fragile machines that fear an MRI machine (and this is the newest Terminator model). The T800 is killed by a single shot. In other words, the heroes are not in danger.
- All the most spectacular moments of the second theminator are inserted in a solid row in 20 minutes. Just without respite show all the epic moments of the second terminator without any change. Everything in 20 minutes (Arnie casts half of his face, a red eye appears, a liquid terminator leaves his piece on Sarah's car, a liquid terminator through a thin wall with his hands-knives tries to kill Kyle, T1000 rebar attaches the T800 to the wall, rips off his hand, a fight of 2 terminators with the collapse of the walls). . . )
And most importantly, what bothers me is, why all this? If in the first part Sarah tried to save her life (which is understandable, everyone wants to live), in the second, she tried to save her son.
Here the heroes do not know why they are doing this. Sarah is ready to kill John to save humanity, which neither she nor her friends did anything good. Perhaps the most unpleasant thing about the film is the lack of an idea.
It was only in comparison that I realized how great a movie James Cameron made.
The first film from the franchise I watched as a child was Judgment Day, released in 1991 (which, in my opinion, is the best film in the series). At the first viewings, I especially remembered driving chases, providing the picture with a special atmosphere of entertainment. Then it was the turn of the first part of 1984; I liked it too, but the sequel was much darker. However, I love both films as adults. The triquel with its weak and disappointing plot was not particularly impressive. Although Arnold was good there, and the creators tried to save the previous drive. The fourth part after the failed third I really liked. The creators touched the soul with a special moral message (which brings the fourth part closer to the second), the actors were on top; the post-apocalyptic world itself gave the script a certain suspense and tension, allowing you to watch the film to the end with interest. The news of the fifth film was initially very negative. “They’d better make the fifth movie the last one and the fourth one,” I thought. However, as news about the casting (particularly Emilia Clarke's participation) and powerful trailers came in, interest in Genesis increased. And as the premiere approached, I felt a lot of heartburn. Now she's exhausted...
The fifth part is a special film, which, at first glance, looks like a remake. Let's say the footage is one in one with the original 1984. However, at one tipping point you will realize that this is not a remake at all. James Cameron himself, who has the most positive impressions, perceives the new picture as a third film. Although for a very long time, he believed that he put an end to the franchise with the finale of “Doomsday” (as indicated by the alternate ending of the sequel). Calling Genesis a direct sequel to Cameron’s films would be a controversial claim, albeit close to the truth, given the possible return of the franchise’s former cast members (Robert Patrick or Christian Bale from the movie McGee; but it didn’t work out). This is an alternate version; viewers will have an unusual feeling that the original and rewritten versions have merged. Recapture of the original footage, the repetition of some moves (T-1000 on a police car, a similar shooting of car chases) cover the audience with a wave of nostalgia. “Watching the fifth film, I was jumping in my heart, cheering like a boy!” he said, “If you love the first two Terminator movies, you’ll love the new movie.” For me, there were a couple of minor flaws in the script (there were simply no answers to some questions in the plot), which did not spoil the overall impression of the product.
In addition to the carefully recreated atmosphere, there is a lot of humor in the new film, and this is a strong plus. Arnold Schwarzenegger was especially distinguished here, with his wide smile and phrases like: I was fired from the construction site. Earlier, humor in the franchise featured in "Rise of the Machines" (2003), although it was not enough.
I want you to die, motherfucker!
Impossible command.
In the case of Genesis, an incredible cocktail of nostalgia, good action and the atmosphere of the previous parts was obtained. And the acters didn't pull off! Arnie's on top! It's a role he's played all his life, so he knows it by heart. I think he's more of a Terminator Guardian than a Terminator Killer. As for John Connor, I think Christian Bale, who played in the fourth film, was more persuasive than Jason Clark. But it must be admitted that Jason tried very hard, and for the role in the new film, he is more suitable for the role of John than Christian. And it is difficult not to notice that the same namesake actors played mother and son. Interesting, don't you think?
Our friend, "Mother of Dragons." You know, it's hard not to recognize her here, and yet Emilia in The Terminator is very different. Both Daenerys and Sarah are strong women, but strong in different ways. And each of the heroines clings to something of their own. In my opinion, Emilia managed to get used to the role of a female soldier, as did Linda Hamilton. I am very happy with her performance, an incredibly sweet actress shines with talent. Jay Courtney also managed to masterfully portray Kyle Reese, repeating all the features of the character from the original film. K. Simmons unexpectedly liked, his character brought a bit of humor (not for the first time, if you remember the original “Spider-Man”), and he caused sympathy.
My verdict: After the weak “Rise of the Machines”, the franchise slowly began to be rehabilitated, starting with the film “May the Savior Come” (2009). The film “Genesis”, directed by Alan Taylor (the series “Game of Thrones”) takes the series to a new level. The new picture is no worse than the classics, in terms of drive is almost on par with a good dilogy. In the presence of the fifth film "familiar" plot with unexpected (though not always) twists; the film with the original presentation, although not without flaws. A film with talented actors, a competent filmmaker, good camera work and a very careful attitude to Cameron’s paintings. A film made with a soul. I liked it and would be happy to review it. I haven’t had such a great time watching. Thank you.
9 out of 10
P. S. I was born the year Terminator 2 came out, and I went to Genesis as a graduation student. This is really one of my favorite franchises.
If you haven’t seen the fifth installment of The Terminator, I have nothing to talk about. Long-awaited for many fans of the indomitable Arnie, the continuation of the franchise, in my opinion, successfully restarted the whole story of the uprising of machines and the destruction of humanity.
As expected, the fifth part will turn upside down the course of affairs in the “Terminator” universe and at times, during the viewing, it was necessary to painstakingly strain the gray matter in the head to put everything in its place.
As before, in this film, John O’Connor will send his future father to save Sarah. Once in the past, Kyle Reese is surprised to find that the past for which he was prepared and expected to see the viewer, no. Events will begin to take a bad and very unexpected turn from the very beginning of his journey - from the moment he steps onto the site of a hefty aggregate that moves objects in time.
From this moment, a new round of confrontation with thinking machines will begin, and Kyle, Sarah and the incomparable T-800 performed by Schwarzenegger will have to do everything to survive and give hope to humanity.
I don’t agree with anyone who says the franchise has failed. In my opinion, it was done with success. Moreover, I disagree with critics from the United States who write that Genesis did not come up with anything new. New, believe me, there is plenty. Only Arnie is unchanged. And he's getting old.
Schwarzenegger himself was again happy to see as a T-800 in the sequel to The Terminator - without him, this movie loses its charm and shine. Even though Arnie is old, he is still cool, inflexible and as much loved as he was when he urinated the Predator, shot the army in Commando, recalled his life on Mars.
The film is saturated with special effects and global scenes of destruction, performed as magnificently as spectacularly. And of course, in order not to let the viewer get bored in the confrontation of the T-800 and some new type of combat mechanical unit, the creators saturated the picture with a whole scattering of killer cars. Here everyone will find a Terminator to his taste and, as they say, color.
After watching this movie, you should think about whether to saturate your life with all sorts of gadgets and, for example, download the tenth version of Windows, which will be available on July 29, 2015. Who knows who knows...
The movie also contains a certain amount of humor, most of which comes from Arnie. He's cool. In general, every appearance on the screen in recent years is accompanied by a lot of banter and it is also a pleasure.
What are the T-800 smiles worth? Just like in the director's version of the second part, where there are cut scenes in which Schwartz tries to smile. After 24 years, he started to do it a little bit. I can't say much about the other heroes. Sarah seemed to have been picked up with something similar to old Sarah, and Kyle was too pumped. Krute and John are destined for a completely different fate in the fifth part.
And yes, I think all Terminator fans will love the ending. This is the first such end and only for him I am ready to throw a couple of points. She was really happy. From the heart.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
A new film about the war of Terminators with people can be called a reincarnation of the original work. The director who took the helm of the picture Alan Taylor is better known to the world as the creator of various quality series. In the world of cinema, this figure is not so well known. From the popular comes to mind only the second part of “Torah”. For this reason, it was interesting to follow the birth of a new project. As it turned out, the result was quite banal and predictable. But the creators clearly acted for sure, increasing the budget to 170 million and using the technical capabilities to the maximum. I think that the monetary profitable outcome will not take long to wait. After all, this is the same example when competent advertising and the use of previous parts of the franchise affected the audience’s interest more than, in fact, the film itself.
Plot. In fact, to explain in a few words the plot component of the tape is very difficult. It'll break your leg. In addition, to tell about what is happening here, without spoilers is extremely difficult. Therefore, you will have to limit yourself to a general characteristic and a detailed description of impressions from it. Despite the fact that the authors tried to come up with an interesting and unusual story, they clearly got carried away with this business. It turned out to be extremely confusing and difficult for an ordinary viewer. Over time, of course, everything falls into place. But you will have to prepare in advance for the fact that you will be loaded with unnecessary information. At some point, everything that happens turns into some kind of absurdity, self-parody and buffoon. Good thing it won't be long. It is obvious that the authors tried to interest fans. Just overdid it. In the end, we have a weak storyline.
Atmosphere. I will not say that it was possible to convey the “spirit of the original” and its continuation to the end. But a little bit to catch him still managed. The team working on Genesis tried to use references to previous parts of the series as often as possible. This will be applied in famous catchphrases, in the costumes of the main characters and even in building some familiar situations from a slightly different angle. Good work has been done in this regard. But there are also downsides. I didn’t like the selection of some actors. And it is not so much in their inconclusive play (although at times it is a very sad sight), as in their inconsistency with their image. It's about Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese) and Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor). The latter reminded me at times of Jennifer Lawrence with her pretty face. Does she really look like a determined girl with a male character? I didn't believe it.
Special effects. That’s what you have to go to the movie for. Everything is done qualitatively, fervently and spectacularly. To chase cars here even added the chase on helicopters. The truth isn't too long. All this is diluted with a fair amount of great humor at the level of the second part of “Terminator”. Sometimes it even surpasses "Judgment Day". May Cameron forgive me!
Music. Not too famous composer Lorne Balf will please fans with quality non-irritating music. But for such a declared scale, this is not enough. I still don’t fully understand why it wasn’t decided to find a better-known person who had already made a name for himself when working with music.
Result. There is one point in the picture that perfectly characterizes it literally in two words. Sarah Connor, answering questions of the scientist about their purpose, explains that they simply save the world from destruction. And that answer was enough for him. Well, this is what I mean: if you are satisfied with a spectacular action movie with a simple motivation of the main characters and a sophisticated plot, then you should familiarize yourself with the movie. Fans should be careful enough.
Surprisingly, for some time I absolutely do not want to scold the film. And it seems that there is something for that, and it seems even worth it, but I do not want it and that is all. And it’s not even that the film is full of all the necessary for the summer blockbuster twists, special effects are good, and finally everyone saw Arnie again in the image of the incomparable T-800, which opened the way for him to the cinema.
No, that's not the point. It's about incredible nostalgia. I remember back in my childhood watching Judgment Day when I was 5, no more. I still remember the emotions and how I wanted to revisit them over and over again. Then I found out it was only the second movie, so my sister and I watched the first one. Are there viewers who grew up on these two films who would not be fascinated by the story of Sarah and Kyle? Can't she just touch it? We were brought back to that world again. You know, for me, this film turned out to be more successful than with the released a little earlier "Jurassic World". And although it is too early to talk about the fees and it is unlikely that the Terminator will be at least half as successful, but still I had much more emotions from the sight of Uncle Arnie on the screen than when Chris Pratt pretended to be an alpha male.
This film clearly showed how unfortunate intermediate sequels can be. As much as I love Parts 1 and 2, I am so indifferent to Parts 3 and 4. It seems to throw out of the franchise "The Rise of the Machines" and "Let the Savior Come", and history will not lose much, with all due respect to Christian Bale. At least I remember them very mediocrely, and this fact did not prevent me from watching the new part.
If the previous two parts were full of excessive gloom and pathos about the need to save the world, then there is a kind of self-irony here, while this irony is subtle and respectful of the two original parts, with which it all began. How nice to be back on the path of Sarah Connor, her role in the next version of the end of the world and how to get rid of Skynet in the first place, rather than running cross-country.
Yes, there are absurdities in the film, there are inconsistencies, there is too much confusion that even gives the impression that the writers themselves are slightly confused, so they decided to end up with a big woman, so that everything as usual rumbled and came into disrepair. Yes, it seems that there is no limit to human capabilities, so Kyle, hit by a car, gets off with only a scratch on his forehead, while he is not the Terminator at all. Yes, there are unanswered questions, such as where the Liquid Terminator came from in 1984, who sent to protect Sarah in 1973, and how all these loops and shifts formed. And the scene after the credits again leaves the final open, they say, if we save money for the next part, then the continuation is not far off, and then we will tell you! .
And yet, I don't want to scold. Because when that soundtrack, which is exploited in this film for good or bad, came on, I almost cried. I really felt like I was back in my childhood when the Terminator was such a wild delight that I wanted to cry when he went down with his finger up. Well, the famous "I'll be back", and the hall sighed and trembled in chorus, so everyone was waiting for this.
I liked the humor, because it removed all the pathos that had been tried to fit into the previous two parts. And even the hidden banter over modern technological delights like updates to even the most advanced systems was very in the topic and, although it made you laugh, but also made you think: after all, we all depend on our gadgets. In fact, this is what they tried to convey to humanity. The Skynet system, in its ionized form so reminiscent of Ultron, comes to the same conclusion as all artificial intelligences: humanity is dangerous, it must be destroyed.
I also liked the way his parents treated John Connor. It's Kyle who doesn't know what role he's playing in all this, and Sarah has known it for a long time. It is not clear from where, but nevertheless. Her determination to go all the way, even though this is her son, and his rejection of the truth, because he believes and loves John not as a son, but as his mentor and friend. I think that this moment in the film is an important and almost key line, a kind of female and male beginnings met and, as it usually happens, did not share a point of view.
And although Michael Bean in the role Reese I like more, it hurts Jay Courtney looks more like the dimensions of the same Arnie, only the version of light, but still he coped well with the role when he did not flaunt a bare torso, certainly beautiful, but not quite appropriate. In general, a strange choice of an actor, if you remember that in the 4th part of Reese plays a vain Anton Yelchin. From Emilia Clark it turned out cute and combative Sarah Connor, everything with her, and plays well. Jason Clark was just born for such roles, so there are no complaints about him at all. It is not clear that here forgot Lee Ben-hon, is there nothing to do in Korea, so he is going to Hollywood to play some secondary villains with stone faces, and after all, he is at home almost a national treasure. And very, very, very amusing. K. Simmons.
And Arnie, of course. The idea of “emotional” cyborgs is not new, because a hint of this was made in the “Judgment Day”, when John was trying to re-educate his defender. Of course, the duo Arnie and Edward Furlong eternal, it can not be outplayed, he is loved and unshakable, which is why the new version of John is a little discouraging, because such a future boy from “Judgment Day” does not want. And, nevertheless, the return of Schwarzenegger to only his own role bribes. This role was written for him, so he is its full owner.
Should we talk about the visual side? Of course, it's all top-notch, but could it be otherwise? Overall, the film turned out great. Atmospheric, new and at the same time makes you postalgic. Go bravely, because you have to find out how it ends! Well... or it will begin...

P.S. And to have in the father-in-law of such a Papus oh, God forbid anyone!
After watching Terminator: Genesis, I had only a very positive impression. The cast, the plot, everything is fine. There are funny moments in the movie that can be laughed at. A slight emphasis is placed in the film on the age of Arnold Schwarzenegger, you can hear such phrases as: “I am old, but not useless.”
I think this film is a worthy continuation of the Terminator series. No wonder James Cameron praised this movie. You can really call it the third part.
In the film "Terminator: Genesis" details and completes what was not said in the first two parts.
I want to tell you more about some parts of the film:
Plot
The plot of the new part tells us a lot, we feel respect for the first two films. For those who have watched the first two films, it will be doubly interesting to watch, as you will see very familiar things on the screens. The plot has sharp turns that the viewer does not expect and it is pleasantly surprising.
Actors
We are all used to the fact that in each new part, a new John Connor and only the Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, remains the constant symbol of this film. In the same part, in addition to John Connor, we meet the new Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese. The actors are very similar to the actors from the first and second parts of the Terminator. Emilia Clarke especially has the characteristic features of the appearance of Linda Hamilton, who played the role of Sarah Connor in the first two parts.
All actors, without exception, coped with their roles.
Rating
The rating of this film is 12+, many will think that the film is made for a child / adolescent audience. I wouldn’t say, one way or another, there’s partial nudity in the film, as well as killing people in sophisticated ways. Take the scene where the T-3000 kills a guard by stabbing him through and holding him in the air.
Special effects
Special effects are done at a decent level. In principle, everything looks beautiful and believable, except for some points.
In conclusion, the only drawback is the lack of the spirit of victim-persecution by the Terminator, with the sole task of eliminating its goal at any cost that was present in early films.
I recommend everyone to watch, even if you have not watched any part of the Terminator film series.
9 out of 10
The resistance, led by John Connor, changes the course of the war between humans and machines. Skynet is almost defeated, but he manages to resort to a backup plan, sending the Terminator back in time to kill John’s mother, Sarah Connor.
The Terminator franchise has been alive for 30 years. Produced eponymous cartoons, video games, series. The main foundation was the brainchild of James Cameron, namely the first two films. In comparison with the style of "Kameronovsky" The Terminator film turned out to be weak, but the film itself is a fresh breath in the franchise, because the brainchild of Mostow and McGee is lost here, where the first shot a vague sequel, and the second created an interesting atmosphere of war between people and machines with a weak script. I’m sure “Terminator” is a one-actor franchise, so as much as McGee won against Mostow in the complexity of his story, he lost to the audience without showing them the main “culprit”. To imagine the same "Mission" without Cruz or "Hitch" without Willis is extremely difficult for me.
There are a lot of questions left after watching. I didn’t understand the main antagonist’s thought, I didn’t understand what Courtney is doing here!? The film has a dozen plot holes, deep in the Mariana Trench. Emily Clark, lost to Linda Hamilton in the fight for Sarah Connor, instead of Robert Patrick, plays a Korean with a very complex name, who embarrasses with his presence, but everything is forgiven when the director focuses on the main character. My love is so pure that I am willing to forgive everything for it. I'm so happy for Arnold, I'm very happy to see him back in business. After gubernatorial office, returning to the movies, I confidently affirm that this is his best exit after his return.
Alan Taylor was not an enviable position for any director. Either a savior or a murderer. I want to pay tribute to the director, because in my opinion he did everything possible, namely, made a decent post-Cameron film. Obviously, it is impossible to continue the franchise completed in the 90s without insanity, docking and many other strange details, but he really tried.
Today I want to raise a glass of blame for those who spit and insult this film, because you can objectively argue that these people are perfectionists, and I sympathize with you, gentlemen, you all your life watching only the originals and Christopher Nolan.
The plot is just raving. The intricacies of storylines that are difficult to understand even those who have never watched all the previous series. A lot of stupid jokes-links to the previous series. very weak main storyline: Kyle-Sarah, their dialogues are primitive and flat. The graphics in 3D IMAX are not bad, it looks spectacular, but with such a budget you could just shoot a picture from scratch, nor as not associated with such a masterpiece as Terminator 2, so that viewers would enjoy the special effects. But putting the very idea of the Terminator here is a crime!
I think if they wanted to release the film under this sign so much, they should have done a remake of the second part without deviations in the plot, with modern graphics and with Arnold in a full-fledged lead role.
In the film, a slightly aged psychiatrist from the previous series and a flying bus on the Golden Gate Bridge look bright, sorry for the semantic series.
I think it's worth watching. 1. in order to see how the beautiful plot and dialogue of the 1st and 2nd parts were killed. 2. to come home after viewing and review these parts and understand what they were masterpieces.
The conclusion is that no special effects can stretch a weak storyline of dead dialogue and terribly stupid jokes, like the one that sounds from the mouth of the hero Arnold Schwarzeneger when he addresses Sarah and Reeves - "You need to copulate" she is not funny after the first time, and he manages to say it three or four times.
Expected much worse, but it was the best sequel to the classic in years.
I liked the movie. Even more than expected, based on experience, that sequels in most cases are worse than the original.
The plot plot here is banal, and the plot moves are repeated from previous films. But to look from this is no less interesting, that is what it means to correctly emphasize the entertainment. The creators managed to recreate the atmosphere of the first two films, which looked in the same breath and with great pleasure and more than once. Definitely better than the "Rise of the Machines" or the penultimate "Let the Savior Come."
The Actors. Schwarzenegger looks great for his years, and this time it is really clear that he is here not just for good fees in theaters, but quite fits into what is happening and you can see that we have the same Terminator as in the first films, well, except that he is old, but even this moment explained to the viewer. And what's good is that he's been "humanized" a little bit. Added jokes to his performance.
I liked Emilia Clarke in the role of Sarah Connor, despite the not brutal appearance, like Hamilton, in his role looks confident. Or maybe only I think so, because I evaluate her game after Game of Thrones, where Emilia successfully copes with the role.
Jason Clark. He is a good actor, but the role of John Knnor is not his. It’s a shame that Christian Bale didn’t have time to play the role again. In my subjective opinion, this is the best John Connor since replacing Edward Furlong.
Jai Courtney. Quite his role, recently he often has to be seen in militants, habitual.
As a result, it's worth a look. It will be especially pleasant for everyone who saw the first films and those who grew up on them, a kind of nostalgia. So people in their 20s and older. Since there are references to the first two films, this is a plus. For the younger generation, this film may seem like an ordinary passing action movie.
8 out of 10
The last movie I was waiting for with puppy eyes and anticipation of Hachiko was Terminator 3. Part IV came out suddenly for me. But 5th... I counted five minutes to go! I watched it on the first day of the premiere, in the second screening (session).
I have something to say. As far as I was concerned, the film was broken into pieces. There were good moments, there were bad moments. A script? Well, I liked it better. In the end, I just watched the movie and watched it. And that was the end of it.
Well, it all starts normally in Genesis. Yes, "genesis" is a fusion of Skynet. The war is in full swing. The one. Skynet of the future is almost doomed. And starts sending in terminators. More like one. The same - a young "Schwarzenegger". (Although why in quotation marks?). John Connor’s prophecy is about to come true. Of course, Kyle Reese is on a special mission. Read: impregnate Sarah Connor. Well, that's what it looks like to us. And the story began when Kyle before departure saw that something went wrong with his leader.
And then? And then the creators caused me serious nostalgia when I saw a long comeback in which a young T-800 asked for clothes from punks of the 80s. Oh, what happened next! An old Terminator named Papps T-800 fought a young T-800. These are all images of one big Arnold Schwarzenegger . And here I will put something in the next paragraph...
The creators of the picture, alas, several times almost squeezed out a tear from me, making it clear that Arni / Schwarzi is aging. Every year, more goes on. This topic was raised throughout the tape and even sometimes became annoying. But it stopped attracting attention, because you had to follow the plot.
The story is that Skynet is completely insane. But pen spotters have found a way to correctly wrap this. That's the dual thing. It feels like the movie is half-cool. Soft-boiled, you say, drawing analogies with boiled eggs? Well, if you say so, then still - in the bag.
I wasn't disappointed. Not at all. But I should have expected more. The main thing: stop upsetting me with the old Schwarzenegger, and through him with the aging flesh of the robot! Here's the main complaint. But still it looks, although not ridiculous (the rest of the film itself), but still far-fetched.
The T-1000 will be here. Which will make you nostalgic again. Although an Asian instead of Robert Patrick can also drive into deep sadness.
So I got to the main misunderstanding. This does not apply to the plot (with it everything became clear during the play). Why such global staffing changes? Well, let’s say Schwarzengger is a star and the flesh of the T-800 is aging. It is solid food, but it is swallowable. And, of course, an older Robert Patrick would look ridiculous. How then would you wind him up with a history of "NOT-
In general, in order to finish this action on a positive wave, I believe that the film did not fall into the mud. Although I give a lot to other viewers and understand their anger, probably there will be something about them. Some heroes are that adaptation. And all comebacks and even microflashbacks, but this is in miniature.
The right to hope for the next part that it will be watchable remains. And maybe in advance, or maybe because it is "Terminator" I put an increased score. Maybe...
A successful continuation of the legendary franchise. Theoretically.
And now, another Apocalypse in the acclaimed universe, another brand blockbuster, which was not expected only by those who are not familiar with the original franchise, and, in the end, another sold-out in the cinema at a 3D session. It is about "Terminator: Genisys" (Terminator: Genisys, 2015) will now be discussed.
I began to wait for the film after watching a bright trailer, which immediately made it clear that we were waiting for a hurricane fantastic action movie, in which the 80s action icon finally returned to the role that made him famous. And the trailer didn't lie at all.
“Terminator: Genesis” is a very spectacular blackbuster, which is full of spectacular shootouts, devastating amazing explosions, rapid chases and incredible fights between robots. Special effects are also very impressive, clearly revealing the abilities of various terminators. In general, the technical component was at a very high level, there is really something to see here, and the quality of the film leaves the viewer not only satisfied - really satisfied. In addition, the 3D film is only beneficial, you can immediately see that the picture was sharpened for a three-dimensional viewing, and on the big screen of the cinema this spectacle looks just great.
Despite the fact that all the main characters except the T-800 completely changed their faces, the plot turned out to be as always connected with the previous parts, or rather, specifically with the first film (here even the young Schwarzenegger in the role of the evil T-800 manages to fight with the older version of this model). In the past, Kyle Reese goes, who must save the then weak, naive and innocent Sarah Connor, but he meets a real warrior, who is protected by the Terminator T-800, and who may well stand up for herself. Together, they will once again try to resist the onset of the Doomsday, which again is about to erupt due to the new Skynet application, which is able to subdue all machines and technical means. More about the plot of the film is not worth talking, otherwise there will be fat spoilers, although it cannot be said that the plot here is unusual - a straight-line fantastic action movie, in which the most important thing is a hard action, good old Arnie and charming Emilia Clark.
The cast should be discussed separately. The main action icon of the last century, Arnold Schwarzenegger, finally returned to his main role, playing the T-800 in all its manifestations as always impeccably (his radiant smile is something). Very worthy showed rising action stars Jason Clark (who very successfully established himself as a diverse actor) and Lee Ben-hon (who could already be seen in the second “Red” and both “Cobra Throws”). Unexpectedly, well played Kyle Reese Jay Courtney (who greatly disappointed in the last "Die Hard"). About the star of “Game of Thrones” Emilia Clarke is worth talking separately, because after Schwarzenegger she is the main star of the film. Incredibly beautiful, cute and sexy girl who plays a militant girl is simply amazing - the experience of "Game of Thrones" affects. She is as cute and attractive as in the acclaimed series, it is simply impossible not to fall in love with such a girl. J.K. Simmons flashed in the frame, and how another familiar face pleased.
Separately, it is worth praising the writers for the fact that there was no long prologue - the film begins quite cheerful, the action immediately takes all the screen action under its control. As soon as the T-800 is in the past, it is met by another charge of lead, and almost non-stop action begins, slightly diluted with sometimes empty, but generally necessary dialogues. Basically, those that help the viewer get into the course of things faster, turn off the brain and enjoy the driving spectacle.
In general, on the fifth "Terminator" the viewer is waiting for dashing action, spectacular and breathtaking special effects, good old steel Arnie in her best role, as well as a girl of unearthly beauty - Emilia Clarke, who is definitely waiting for a great future. Theoretically.
A friend watched the new “Terminator” a couple of days earlier and categorically did not recommend going to the movies. He said that, compared to the first two films of the franchise, Genesis is a drop below nowhere. And he lamented: “I’m 10 years old posters Arnie as a robot pasted the whole room!” This is a heart attack.
Of course, I went to the movies anyway. And I realized the mistake of a friend: he naively expected from this movie the same emotions that gave the first Terminator to him, a ten-year-old. The trick is that in our 30s or 40s, we can’t really experience these emotions. With our experience, satiation at spectacles and multi-level cynicism! As a child, everything seems tastier, more beautiful and more. And then the sauces are not hot enough, and the grass is not quite green. I remember, too, how enthusiastic the little one was after watching The Carolwolves for the first time with Van Damme. It seemed like a better movie. I couldn’t even watch it under the threat of a gun.
Something familiar is right. There is no James Cameron spirit in Genesis, if you know what I mean. There is too much pathos in the beginning (John Connor with his life-affirming chatter there was only on the armored car and under the red banner), too impressive special effects (exploits are absolutely stunning), too twisted the plot (characters, deeds and relationships of all the main characters turned upside down). It’s kind of... commercially, or something. And Cameron took more drama and soulfulness, despite the fact that the main character is a robot, and the genre is a fantastic action movie. He had no such sophistication, but the plots of his "Terminators" (especially the second) were fresh. And Alan Taylor even a new kind of robot did not bother to come up with – and exploit the good old T800 and numerous liquid scumbags, which only magnets and neutralize. And how to fight the T800 and the liquid, we have seen more than once. It's like living steel in squirrels.
As for the actors, it was very pleasant to watch Jai Courtney, but he did not add any highlight to Kyle Rees. Jason Clarke is an inadequate replacement for Christian Bale, although he is a good actor. Just not for that image. But here’s who I will not throw a single stone – it’s Arnold (one of his views on me blows my deep childhood, and it is expensive) and Emilia Clarke (this girl I will always love – for Daenerys Targaryen). In addition, they turned out a cute tandem - a girl and her hand robot, large, gray and caring.
Honestly, after watching, I was like a pendulum hanging in the center. I won't swing to the plus or the minus. To sum it up, I’m not excited about the movie, but if I hadn’t gone to Genesis, I would have regretted it. And I will go to the sixth place, and the creators will leave it.
The main problem with the new Terminator is its very existence. As practice shows, sequels of old films are extremely rarely successful. They are mostly disappointing, even if their authors try to play on the feelings of fans, creating many references to the original. On these rakes came "Tron: Legacy" or here is a very fresh "Jurassic World". Why, having a ready-made plot, can not put a new, but modern film on it? They did the same with RoboCop – I think he perfectly showed what a remake of a cult film should be from the past.
Another problem with Terminator as a franchise is the fact that different people worked on it at different times. For example, “Terminator: May the savior come, I liked it at the time. It would seem that he will begin a trilogy of events in the future, and will end this long-term saga once and for all. But something was not set, why many did not like the fourth film, it affected its box office, as a result of which the franchise once again appeared new “parents”.
These “parents” did not continue the fourth film, deciding to build the script of the new film around the long-worn theme of parallel realities (remember at least the same “X-Men: Days of Future Past”). A lot of people, including me, don’t like this kind of fiction — and there’s a lot to dislike or even hate. The fact is that rarely the events shown in such a sequel are competently linked with everything that happened in the franchise before it. It is not surprising that they lost in the case of “Terminator” – the reflections on the nature of parallel realities presented in the film do not really explain how it happened that the past, known to us from the film “Terminator” (1984), was rewritten, and the whole plot basis of the film looks frankly far-fetched.
Why, one wonders, was it to flirt with parallel realities? To bring Sarah Connor back into the series? Or to have the entire Connor family on screen at the same time? Wouldn’t it be easier to make a remake that conceives a new trilogy, and already within it to show all that we were shown in Genesis? In this case, the finale of Genesis would look epic in relation to the whole new series. Unfortunately, this new series does not exist, but there is a conditionally fifth film in the franchise, which throughout its timekeeping tries to prove to us that it is plot-related to all previous parts of “Terminator”.
Another depressing moment is the following: here will fail at the box office “Genesis” – and after all, you can not avoid another sequel, with another new cast as Sarah Connor, John Connor, Kyle Reese. Personally, I'm sick of it. I don’t want these new thumb-sucking movies, all I want is to see the end of this saga. But under the current circumstances, it is unlikely to be the same as it was meant to be in the first film. The only thing I hope is that if this movie doesn’t make it into a trilogy, let the next Terminator really be a remake. Because enough is enough - it's time to end this long-term censure, which eventually led the saga to a dead end.
I also want to say that Genesis, even if you look at it for a second as an independent work, and not a fifth of the cult franchise, is still not impressive! For some reason, it resembles “Terminator 3”, at one time coolly received by the film community. But in contrast, Genesis is plot too confusing and less spectacular. In the film, I was pleased with exactly three things: a new kind of Terminator, more perfect than the T-1000, a familiar musical theme that warms the soul, and the way the authors of the pentaquel boldly outplayed the question of John Connor as the last hope of mankind.
The verdict. An unnecessary chapter in a saga that is long overdue for retirement.
5 out of 10
Now I will say banal things, probably, but the movie, to tell the truth, turned out quite banal.
Fans, of course, are right, the saga is degraded, after the brilliant and gloomy first part of a powerful action movie, the second, with a kind robot, then just babakhov performed the third with a zero plot, then completely some indistinct boring in the fourth, and here is the fifth. The fifth fourth is better because Schwartz is back. In fact, the main and only advantage of the fifth part is this. Because the Terminator story is anything plus Schwartz with a peeled cheek. Of course, Schwartz has become quite kind to plush. Of course, the old man does not try to play. But his charisma is so powerful that plain Sarah and blinkered Reese are simply invisible in the shadow of this titan. Actor John Connor in the spirit of an infernal clown, by the way, is not so bad, his hero himself is bad, which stinks of all these wolverines and other comic characters for preschool, the Terminator universe unworthy. Hulks, hellboys, spiders, human bikes or whatever they have.
And so in general, a typical postmodern turns out: we take the cubes “Sarah”, “John”, “Reese” (or Rhys?), and the largest cube “Schwartz”, mix well and throw away as God puts it on his soul. Here, for example, God put John to be angry. It would be equally possible to embitter his hapless father.
I am glad that there is still a lot of rumble, explosions and crushing of heavy equipment. Corporate big style in this sense is not lost, the bus, thundered from series to series, seems to be getting bigger. Well, as already mentioned, Schwartz, who finished fooling around in the governors and shook the old days. His smile is charming. Otherwise, everything went down to the drooling happy ending, but we guys who still remember the Terminator called “Cyber Killer” experienced a powerful rush of nostalgia no matter what.
Well, this is also the right moment: rightly the authors noted that there is nothing endlessly in tablets to stare and poke into mobile phones. You poke and poke like this, and as a result, take the Antichrist and get out of there. How do you get him back? That! Yeah.
Going to the fifth "Terminator" (which in fact, to be more precise, the third) I as a simple viewer, gave hope for a normal, well-made film with great effects and a good script part. But my hopes were not fully justified, if, for example, I was satisfied with the visual series and spectacular appearance of the iron Arnold, then there is no script and part of the dialogue, as well as the motivation of the characters. In some moments, I was also annoyed by the appearance of Jay Courtney. Playing, as always, not as convincing as you want, in the same way loses the former Governor of California (but he played a robot, he has an excuse). But I saw for myself the charisma of a sweet Emilia Clark standing in a bra, obsessed with the theory that robots from the future J.K. Simmons and probably the best actor of all this composition Jason Clark.
One of the main elements of the picture that pleased me was the humorous part, part of the jokes performed by Arnie, was a nice addition to this whole time travel. What is most interesting, Matt Smith takes part in the film, yes, the same Doctor Who.
Now let's talk about the downsides. James Cameron did not lie, saying that he is calm for the continuation of his offspring. But this does not save the fact that the visual means in the work of Alan Taylor, looks very empty, inexpressive and simply faded, and even making such a stupid and uneducated viewer like me laugh and not fall asleep during the session while watching. A little even to penetrate the characters of the picture, the film just looks banal wasteland. Commercial and devoid of all the necessary logic, violating everything in the past, plots, past films, it has the right to live and see it, but guys, to be honest with you compared to the second film, it’s just hell knows what.
The creators, in my opinion, simply did not have the ingenuity and imagination to turn the plot, and in general it simply did not make sense to shoot such a “Terminator”, wrapping it, for just one, and very prominent purpose, for profit.
5 out of 10
The Terminator does not need prefaces or additional explanations. Two parts of James Cameron have long become the standard of a fantastic action movie, where a noticeable place is given to time travel. The third part continued with great mistakes and deflections of the story, but at the expense of Schwarzenegger, who was leaving for politics, could not completely turn into a comedy, no matter how he tried. The fourth film was cursed, although they made a post-apocalyptic action movie worthy of creaking. The fifth part, as the first attempt to get back to Cameron's roots, in my opinion, failed completely. But everything in order.
Despite a string of relative failures of the third and fourth parts, Hollywood did not leave the Terminator alone. In our time of constant sequels and other unoriginal ideas, you can easily get used to films with another figure at the end of the title. Everyone knows the rule that the next series of films is worse than the first part, but producers need to earn hundreds of millions of “green presidents” and they can only be stopped by Judgment Day. The fifth part may be this failure (although there was an earlier bid for the trilogy).
It starts beautifully. Kyle Reese tells the grisly backstory of an epic struggle between a handful of humans and an army of robots. Then there are the beautiful scenery of flying nuclear missiles and the death of three billion people. But John Connor almost manages to lead humanity to victory, but the visionary Skynet for his own safety manages to send young Schwartz to kill his mother Sarah. Correspondingly "holy." John sends his future dad Kyle to have sex with the future Savior's mother. Reese finds himself in the future and begins insanity, delirium, tastelessness, killing the brain of a fan of the original “Terminator”.
Director Alan Taylor realized that if he managed to shoot a teenage “Thor 2”, then do not think much during the filming of “Genesis”. The audience is “eaten” by special effects, epic music of Lorne Belfe along with popcorn and will go home satisfied. Even Schwartz will make his idiotic grin "gy-gy" (successfully carved in the second part, and in vain) to further establish the common holiday of insanity.
Who's to blame? Screenwriters. That shit came out of their pen. Writing good fiction is easy, a person has always been able to embellish. Destroying a great idea is even easier. Cover the obvious inflections of the plot, inconsistencies with the previous parts, poor pathetic dialogues can be popular paradoxes in time. The audience won't think. The main thing - there will be explosions, shooting, Schwartz. Neither we nor they will need meaning. Especially approved by James Cameron himself, "stuck" long ago on Pandora.
Schwarzenegger is sorry, but his time is in the 1980s. His image of a German bodybuilder he will long "milk", although the patience of many viewers has long run out. All that remains is nostalgia. The young Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke still have everything ahead and “Terminator” is just another attempt to shine in a big-budget movie. Although for Jai, the word “another” should be replaced with “failed-next”. His wooden face will get bored faster than Schwartz. Because nostalgia never hurts.
"Terminator." Genesis was a victim of its own trailers. They showed the whole movie, all the most interesting that could somehow hook. Also, my viewing was trampled by Koreans instead of Robert Patrick, John Connor with nano-shit inside and the unfinished mating of Reese and Sarah (although Schwartz reminded them of this often).
"Terminator." Genesis is a wretched chewed food that burst back out of my stomach.
We made a cult trip today to the new Terminators, which is Genesis. Copies among the fans of the franchise around him were broken a lot - tortur or not tor an aging robot (Arnie is not at all younger in 30 years), canonical or not canonical to touch such moves from Cameron's dilogy, and so on many hundreds of messages in profile forums. To be honest, I also had doubts. The third part was still a parasha, the fourth - a good kinch, but perceived generally apart from the series. But, the first full-fledged trailer and then the laudatory review from Cameron himself was set up in an optimistic manner. And, in order not to be overwhelmed by doubts, I went to the first shows to assess firsthand.
To my surprise, the film was not in the repertoire plan of the beloved Ray. When blockbusters of this level with each iron to show the striving. The Sea of Cinema and Kinomax are past me, so I chose the Epicenter from the existing one. I don’t care about him very much, but I’ll look at him. The screen is even, visually, bigger than Luchevsky, the chair seems to be softer, and the fact that it looks shabby and rammed - well, tea, and I am not a glamorous chick, hang out crawling out.
Of the features of the Epicenter, again, the level of its “flatter” demonstrating – a ticket purchased online, then punched at the checkout. No self-service through the terminals. During the day, when we walked, it's normal. So, standing in line isn't my thing. I use it online, which is more convenient. I have never seen any special queues at the terminals. Oh, come on. As I said, we went in the afternoon to get to the evening practice, and there was no hype during this session. Although, judging by the people coming out, the hall was packed. You may have had your first session, eh.
The movie was in 3D. Not my favorite format, however, in this case they were not abused, as sometimes happens, and it was built in unobtrusively, so that went to the picture in the plus. As well as its other contents.
At first, the first 15 minutes, there was still a feeling of the wrongness of what was happening, and rather the picture looked like a fourth part, except that the whole future was canonically presented in gloomy and dark tones. However, over time, the picture absorbed attention and there was no time left for any philosophical fabrications during the viewing. The action alternated with small pauses, during which the creators of the picture explained to us through the lips of the heroes what was going on here (and the events of the first two Terminators here smoothly flowed into something new, games over time, all things), in places the heroes chased the lyrics (except for Arnie here all were template-blockbuster, well, a pinch of lyrics is put here - say you), and then again the highest quality action. Fighting and action are high, and there's a lot of it. From the picture hardly anyone expected a profound drama and a leisurely story about the adventures of a cyborg and a resistance soldier in the past. And, for all the blockbuster, not being a superficial action movie. Somewhere even in modern consumer society accidentally managed to drive. Pay attention to Genesis, gadgetomania and what the heroes said about it. And this is ahead of the release of Windows 10, by the way! I will not undertake to discuss and suck the plot, briefly interested persons know about it, and a retelling during live screenings of the film - do you need it?
Of course, in the course of the action, a lot of the ears of classical dilogy stick out. In general, the new film was a hybrid of a high-quality remake of Cameron’s tapes, plus, again, a qualitative continuation of the story by new authors. Here you and liquid T-1000, and chasing places nostalgia, but ... no stupid tracing, namely the rethinking and continuation of traditions. By the way, even after the release of the film remains a stumbling block. Someone treats that “the saint was swung and spoiled”, I will say – the story looked at in childhood (the first at 8 years, the second at 12) again came to life on the screen, telling what could be / happened next. Without sliding into self-parody, copipast, etc. It was just the end of the review in the middle. Well, maybe it's time to wrap up.
But, in conclusion, it is impossible not to mention Arnold Schwarzenegger. Having become famous for the role of a soulless killer machine, later trying to become like a man, he again played his role in the most elegant way. Not by copying itself 20 to 30 years ago, but by showing an evolved (as far as it can) machine that lived for decades to protect one person. With humor, irony, and a bit of humanity in the T-800 over the years. “Save my Sarah” – so to the fifth part of the killer machine showed that Skynet really created a new mind (and not only in the form of himself), capable not only of cold digital analysis, but also something that distinguishes the living from the inanimate. For me, this film will take a well-deserved place with the classic T-2, which will be pushed on that pedestal, it would seem, no one of the followers will be able to push.

I watched the first Terminator at about eight years old in a small cinema with a small TV. There was an almost mythical Soviet Union, and although it was a long time ago, the memory is still alive. When at the very beginning of the picture, the Terminator rips out punk’s heart, I was so scared that I ran away from the audience without really seeing anything. It was the first and so far the only film show I left, or rather escaped.
Years later, Kyle Reese travels back in time to save the life of Sarah Connor, the mother of his leader and leader John Connor.
The authors of Terminator Genesis did everything that their picture did not disappoint fans of the franchise. After the first two Cameron films, there were two more, which, to put it mildly, were passing pictures.
Genesis begins lively, its plot and story intertwined with the first film, and gives a carbon monoxide mixture of first-class action, excellent special effects and brilliant musical design.
The first analysis of flights and acquaintance of the characters in the pause between chases and disassemblies of all known types of mechanical killers is just as good, quite witty, brightly emotionally colored and generally brings the beginning of the film to a very high level.
But, the film does not end there and although the beginning of the picture looks very strong, its further events leave a somewhat blurred impression.
Arnie says that John Connor talks too much and that’s true. This is a good idea, but it doesn’t change anything.
The theme of Sarah and the Mechanical Father is immediately reminiscent of Sarah's reasoning from Terminator 2, where she says that perhaps the Terminator would be the perfect father for John. But Genesis lacks the emotional balance necessary for such a theme. The Terminator is about to paternally embrace Sarah, and this is completely unacceptable, here the authors played a bit.
In my opinion, Jai Courtney performs the role of Kyle Reese, somewhat lost against the background of the other characters in the picture. But this is not critical, because against the background of the magnificent Arnie, even the bright and convincing playing Emilia Clarke, fades. I don't know how he did it, and I can't say it wasn't a surprise to me, but even at sixty-seven, Arnie outshines everyone. Old, but not yet rusty, contrary to all my expectations, Schwarzenegger shines as in the old days. Another excellent work of the great hero of militants.
Emilia is also worth noting separately. Since the necessary brutality to perform the role of Sarah Connor she lacks, no matter how hard the operators try, but her fragile naughtiness is difficult to hide, so in many scenes Emilia have to face not a hundred, but a hundred and twenty percent. What she succeeds in principle, she manages to show an irreconcilable and tireless fighter and at the same time a fragile girl fighting, in addition to everything and with her inner fears.
Generally speaking, Genesis did not disappoint. He is indisputably better than his two frankly weak predecessors. Of course, the picture is not revolutionary, and there is practically nothing new in it, but it is able to give a lot of positive emotions to fans of two Kemerovsky masterpieces. It has a lot of good both action and just game scenes, and where there are irregularities and roughness, they more than smooth out the beautiful musical design. And Arnie, she has Arnie in her most famous image, and in him he is inimitable.
Oh, as if for an infinitely long time, at the end, having lost faith, I expected and myself did not believe in the possibility of a confident continuation, the appearance of a film that would cross out the terrible blunders of unworthy, monotonous, violating all the metaphorical convention of the plot of the main line, paintings. And even today, walking into the cinema, I was skeptical about seeing another fog about the war with robots. I didn’t follow its creation, I didn’t know that in this picture, scenes with Kyle moving into the past were not captured in the second, favorite part of The Terminator. And of course, I never imagined that it would be possible to structure the script so that it would be able to stand next to Cameron’s authentic, magical script. And it happened.
“Genesis” is full of blunders, neglecting physical laws, and places rather stupid blockbusting (where without looking at the modern fat average movietroll) along with the ruthless exploitation of the title soundtrack, familiar if not everyone, then quite many, but I left all this unnoticed, let go, not daring to find fault, because the very form of the presentation of the plot, the main context returned to the channel that caught and forced to review the second part time after time. And if "Terminator 2" admired behind-the-scenes echoes of the philosophical paradigm of the 90s, when we were provided with a story looped in the framework of deterministic theory about the consequences of their decisions and brought to the attention that it is pointless to look for the guilty, because each step leads to the birth of events that are the prerequisites of an obvious, direct legacy, from which it is impossible to escape by ways known to man, and therefore it is worth thinking carefully about the actions themselves, then "Genesis" perfectly dissects the modern revival of the spiritual path to which we, albeit grily, but approach. When humanity correctly begins to comprehend: any kind of obscuration, regardless of the confusion of the lines that aggravate our calmness, can be cleansed. Everyone is free to turn away and decide to transform. But the path begins first in ourselves, in self-identification, and in the identification of the main enemy within everyone, the enemy responsible for violence. Cameron’s concept at the beginning of the franchise led to a hidden symbol of not causing evil at the starting point of the initial action, a planetary unity without admixture of aggression, which is clearly expressed in the second part of the film narrative, imbued with the rejection of murder, which teaches the Terminator still young John. In general, an enviable number of film premieres of the year is replete with this Buddhist message, from comic book heroes to traveling between worlds with George Clooney. Is this not what every second modern science fiction writer is trumpeting everywhere? And I am personally glad that in the midst of such significant premieres there is a leaked structure of thinking filled with such a leitmotif.
In the address of the storyline, I also want to add a few commendable slaps of one hand against the other. Having rocked the action with a dramatic line of John’s inability to tell his father about his role in the events of the past as well as the present (remaining only in the fantasy of fans of the series), the writers did not stop there and continued to deepen the line of relations between the humanoid robot and the woman who, in the minds of millions, personified the struggle against electronicization, the cosmopolitan revolution in the virtual environment, now protecting the unit of this structure due to her own emotional attachment. Thanks to the well-woven imprinting line, Sarah Connor is no longer a bullied waitress, she acts as a soldier with honed skills of fighting for life, already raised by the machine herself, like her future son. I have always been concerned about the helplessness of a computer of any complexity to anticipate, calculate and predict the development of events, even in a ring of temporal laws.
Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney worked out the characters of their characters quite hard, except that at times strained their excessive muscularity of bodies. Affected about and without Arnie smiled, and actress Emilia Clarke - oh God, you are amazing, your Sarah Connor I will not soon forget. In my opinion, a worthy continuation of the second part of the saga about the war of mankind and machines. Have a good time.
The first day of the premiere in Ukraine, and now I am sitting in the cinema, and with an open mouth will see the whole film. I'm glad there wasn't a fly in my mouth.
Briefly about the film:
For the entire film, we visited 3 time periods - 1984, 2029, and the key year 2017. When John Connor sends Kyle Reese to save his mother, he is suddenly attacked by the Terminator, who later turns out to be Skynet himself (aka Genesis), Kyle Reese falls into a completely different past, where not he, but Sarah herself saves him from the T1000 performed by Lee Byung-hon, who perfectly played in the films Cobra Throw and its sequel. Even in this interesting past, the T800 became Sarah's protector, sent by an unknown person. I think we will find out this secret in future films.
Next, Kyle, along with Sarah, heads to 2017 to shut down Skynet before it launches. In order not to spoil more, I can say that at the end there will always be a Happy End.
The cast was very pleased with me: Emilia Clarke played the main female role perfectly. Despite her small stature, she showed a strong temperament and steadfast character. Jai Courtney perfectly played the role of the father of the savior of mankind. In one scene, he could show himself as a lyrical character and a hero of militants. Iron Arnie is a bit rusty, of course, but I still disagree with the bad reviews of other critics who did not like Schwarzenegger in this film. Arnie, as an action hero, did well this time. Although he has aged, he has not lost his acting talent. You guys finally understand that the original Terminator came out 30 years ago. Although it is considered a cult film, it is still a relic of the past. We need to move on and create something new and interesting. The restart of the franchise can be considered worthy. You don’t have to compare it to previous movies, just enjoy watching.

The uncertainty of the future in Alan Taylor's film escalates into the uncertainty of the past. An alternate story is rewritten literally on the go - sent from a post-apocalyptic future in 1984, the terminator suddenly stumbles on a reprogrammed version of himself and is disabled, without having time to get to the nearest telephone directory. Kyle Reese once again pulls his pants off the bum and pulls up shop clothes, but under the guise of a policeman he is now pursued by the T-1000. Sarah Connor is no longer a terrified waitress, but a trained fighting girl whose adoptive father Schwarzenegger is outside and the robot is inside. It seems that the future beyond Doomsday is no longer a mystery to the mother of the savior of humanity, but this is only a temporary phenomenon, because uncertainty is now everywhere.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s starting out really well. Strange, stupid, sometimes absurd, but not bad. These games with rewritten history, replaying moments from the Cameron dilogy, scattered around the Easter egg - all this unexpectedly disposes of itself and even allows you to close your eyes to old man Schwarzenegger with his ridiculously aging "father of the year". But only the action with a rapid gallop jumps over its fortieth minute, as a terrible (for the franchise as a whole) but not frightening (especially if the viewer is a masochist) truth creeps out – the story about the Skynet riot and the terminators regularly sent somewhere finally turned into a family blockbuster. Sweet and pleasant to the eye thundering action movie, which almost with the same success could be filmed under the auspices of Disney Studios. Watching this final deconstruction of history, of course, is not so painful (worse fights in the toilet from “Rise of the Machines” can be by any means), but it’s a damn shame. However, much more shame is caused by the fact that it is still pleasant to follow the action taking place on the screen, that all this almost nightmare is not annoying.
It seems that Alan Taylor has managed to grab the critics much more than McGee or Mostow, but there is a lot of banal injustice. His Genesis is much better than Rise of the Machines or May the Savior Come, if only because it ceases to make a serious mine in bad play. Doomsday due to looming on the horizon or already occurred, loses its power, giving way to an infantile story about the adventures of a chatty girl and her tame killer robot. Self-parody, self-irony, but not a self-inflicted shot - "Genesis" grows into a huge fascinating stupidity, at the same time becoming a rogue film of a shamelessly protracted franchise. Parasitic on the old story and clearly proving the meaninglessness of hugs, Taylor’s tape does not strive to be anything more than banal entertainment. In moderation, an infernal villain (Jason Clarke is the best thing in this film), a sea of action, a big final explosion and categorically refusing to die characters among those who have frozen in the hope of a sequel to innuendo – all this together makes up the standard set of a strong summer blockbuster, the main advantage of which is that he is damn cute. Even though it's a hell of a bad thing in the context of a once-modified universe.
For those who scroll through the tape hastily, the essence is at once: definitely watch, the film is not bad, solid ' Four' but do not wait for a masterpiece, this is not Cameron, not Terminator-2 never.
More details, but no spoilers.
Why is it impossible to beat Terminator 2? Because there were three very strong chips:
1. The contrast with the first part - the one who was run away from, now protects. The enemy, the Thing, the horror became a sentimental friend.
2. Revolutionary at the time (1991) visual effects. Liquid T-1000 was a celebration of the spectacle, already at one of his reincarnations everyone looked with their mouths open.
3. The most powerful drama in the final, the final of the film I consider one of the best in mass cinema.
It is impossible to repeat all these chips, and there is no sense, and new ones have not been invented. Hence the helplessness of the third part, and I do not want to talk about the fourth.
The creators of the fifth part were well aware of all this, it can be seen in every frame. The plot is tortured, tricked, born in terrible birth pain, there is no gram of lightness, no meter of flight, no flash of illumination, no glimpse of God’s spark. The creators desperately tried to create something worthy, worked on the plot conscientiously, hardworking. And they really managed to do something non-trivial, which, in principle, is not ashamed to show the public and drag old man Schwartz into the project.
No shame, but nothing more. Not a masterpiece. It would be easier to start from scratch – and this idea, in the end, was taken as a basis. Someone came in, looked at everything that the writers had given birth, waved and said: 'H...you guys start with a clean slate, the whole story first'
I strongly recommend revisiting the first part, 1984. No need, 20 minutes is enough.
The film runs for two hours, I didn’t have another forty minutes for psychology, drama and lyrics – everything that was in Terminator 2. But I cannot present this as a claim, because I am aware that we are facing a business project first and foremost. No one dreamed of making this movie from kindergarten, there is no one on Earth for whom this would be the project of a lifetime, this Terminator-genesis is not native to anyone. Removed - rolled - cut the money - ran to shoot the sixth part (and it will, like the seventh, there is no doubt about it).
In principle, there is a place for lyrics, psychology and drama in the plot, and with excess, but to develop dramatic moments, savor them, look into the distance, cry, read a monologue - no one today, in 2015, the authors of the film will not allow. The target audience of the young man does not experience a tender awe to the samples of the epic of 1984 and 1991, their consciousness is clip. Therefore, jumping on one leg and teaching a robot to say hasta la vista, baby - the studio will not allow. There's no time for that. There is no time to even open your hand and cut out your eyes, no time to try on glasses, no time to talk, and even (sorry for a small spoiler) no time for sex. The authors of all this was clearly not sorry, if they had given them - they would have inserted. But they didn't. The audience is not the same, he is not used to waiting. I am not used to waiting for a letter for a week, I am not used to waiting for a bus for an hour, I am not used to contemplating and not in a hurry to worry.
Therefore, a non-trivial, in essence, plot jumps in a gallop. It rushes like a minibus along the avenue, shaking the viewer and throwing him from side to side.
However, it could have been much worse, and we know this for sure in parts 3 and 4.

The mixed cocktail defied expectations from the menu.
It was one of the stupidest ways to spend money. Apparently, the fifth in a row Terminator, nevertheless, came out quite a successful sequel. But that’s according to this film and reviews. It's too early to talk about fees. Unfortunately, I cannot share the joy of fans and moviegoers. Because you have to remember captively the first two films – it’s still a sequel, so you can’t forget about them. The writers themselves take us back to the past. And the beginning, like the trailer itself, was very impressive and made me think. Here it is – a worthy continuation with innovations in accordance with the times and at the same time does not lose spirit of the 84th and 91st years! Anne, it's just the first few minutes. After all, how successfully the arrival of the first Terminator in '84 and his fight with his iron elder brother were staged. Or Kyle Reese's escape from our beloved T-1000. The creators allowed us to see exactly how the T-800 and Reese got into the past. But then something unimaginable begins. It turns out that certain events influenced the history and the course of history that is dear to our eye disappeared and everything went a little differently. Of course, it was very interesting to see what would have happened if everything had gone wrong, as we used to review, and otherwise - the battle of two almost identical, age-adjusted, (God - age!!!) What I'm saying is Terminators, Kyle Reese's encounter with the T-1000, or Sarah Connor, who rotated Kyle Reese on the gun barrel and the cyborgs that flooded the planet. I wonder if it was filed correctly. But the writers seem to be a little carried away by the action. It is understandable that in 2015, special effects soared to unprecedented heights, and almost all tricks were replaced by computer work. But you need to know the measure, not to send buses into flight with a subsequent flip and not to force helicopters to do acrobatic tricks in the air. Yeah, it's beautiful. Yeah, spectacular. But devoid of reality. And deprived of the spirit of the first films, which are now perceived not as nostalgia, but as a great plot and its development. Why is the Fifth Terminator a hurrah? Is it because of the beautiful pictures? Or is the story so carefully crafted here? Of course, no one will make the same film as it was more than 20 years ago, because now they do not think much about the idea because of the huge possibilities of computer graphics. That's not the way it is now. Why bother creating one when its absence can be compensated for by others? But one thing doesn't bother the other. The first part was a very serious film. There was some humor in the second one, but damn it, it was good for the film. Starting with the third part, the Terminator began to look like a self-parody. Now in vogue one-off jokes that are immediately forgotten - and this film is filled with them. They are so standard that they are no longer funny. Except that Arnold smiled with his likeness of a smile, but disappointed with a parody of his own character. Why so much humor is not inherent in such a film - I never understood. There are so many crazy ideas! Not only is the Terminator now called Papps (or something like that), so this same Papps also claims after his own reincarnation. I've updated. What? You're kidding, writers! And when Sarah pushes to get rid of all traces of cyborg arrival, and then when "updated" The T-800 is coming back, going off to sunset together, and everyone is happy. That's right, to hell with logic! Plus, they came to almost ordinary jumps in time with their consequences. Thus, the fantastic action movie about the cyborg killer James Cameron turned into science fiction with elements of the comedy Alan Taylor. Tear out my eyes and cut off my ears so that I will once again go to such a sequel to my favorite movie.
Iron Arnie is back in the ranks and again crushes, smashes, shoots, stutters, tears at British flags and sends “bad robots” to scrap. But for a cyborg killer, he makes too many jokes. But, no matter what, this is Arnold Schwarzenegger and everything is forgiven to him. Emilia Clark, who embodied Skynet's terrible dream into reality Sarah Connor, could not reach Linda Hamilton with charisma, but she managed to play nevertheless. Let's have another Sarah Connor, but she can also stand up for herself. Especially since in this image and appearance she, albeit remotely, but somewhat resembles a young Linda. As for Jason Clark, who became the next John Connor, there are no complaints. But the only real John Connor is Edward Furlong and he is the only one! Let him play it as a teenager. But Jai Courtney is not Kyle Reese at all. Michael Bean was that soldier from the future, Sarah's protector, strong-willed, brave and with all the makings of a soldier. The local Reese is a cowardly, dull, pumped creature with all the makings of a sucker who decided to prove himself, which is practically not inferior in size to Schwarzenegger. So here with the image of the guys-creators got into the milk. Lee Byung-hon — not Robert Patrick, but tried to play the T-1000. For this role, he lacks sufficient composure in the eyes, which causes awe. But to be honest, he tried. Not as bad as it would have been if someone else had been in his place.
Overall, the film was disappointing. Unfortunately, the content of this film is inversely proportional to its own picture – it is beautiful, but without good content. But thank you for bringing Arnold back to us, and us 20-30 years ago in the very first part, albeit for a little bit.

After watching the movie, to be honest, I didn’t really get the feeling. . .
Definitely the idea of the film is original and presented to us quite in a twisted form, while retaining the idea that Skynet in principle and created himself.
The war of the future is perfectly shown, it was interesting to see the time travel, as well as the meeting of all the terminators in one tape. Better the actors. Michael Bean was definitely better off in this role. Not because it was the first, but for a number of very serious reasons:
1. Well, during the war, a person on a diet of rats can not keep himself in such good physical shape.
2. Not quite understandable reaction to situations, the character, to put it mildly, behaves rather inadequately and cheerfully, unlike Bean, who had constant fatigue, sadness and at the same time caution in his face (maybe the script is to blame, well, there is nothing you can do about it).
Jason and Emilia did a great job with their roles.
Arnold, as always, is not verbose, but his Hollywood smile instead of a thousand words.
Although to be honest, the scriptwriters for the Terminator wrote weakly.'I am old, but not without useful.'As if the excuse and feeling that he cares about the opinion of others, but he is still a machine like no other.
As a result, we have a very good action with an intricate plot and idea, but with a slightly written script. Cameron’s film was not only an action movie, but also a love story of a young man to a tender young girl from the past ... and this film was not tried yet did not convey this romantic note ... only for this reason.
50/50
The next part of the legendary franchise “Terminator”, on which so many hopes were pinned, and which was so proporized, can not please the lover of this saga.
Pros. Good effects for a hundred million dollar budget.
Cons. Problem number one is the timing of the picture. When 2 hours of screen time Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke are given about an hour, and all the rest of the time we see not very talented pitching Courtney (as well as a 5-minute role of Oscar-winning J.K. Simmons, a 2-minute role of Matt Smith, aka Doctor Who, as well as a 20-minute role of the growing popularity of Jason Clarke, as well as the role without a single line Lee Ben-hon), the question arises: Why? For these roles, except Schwarzenegger, you could take any actor from the street on the ad. That remains a mystery. But my personal opinion: this was done in order to hide the true budget, which was spent on the production process, and not on the fees of actors.
Problem number two is characters (all except Schwartz). Sarah Connor played by Linda Hamilton is a strong and strong woman, ready to do anything to save her son. Emilia Clarke plays the usual brainless heroine of action movies, who even sometimes makes a serious face and shoots past. Kyle Reese - well, what to say, when the main role is played by a log, you should not expect anything good. John Connor is poorly spelled, and the actor is absolutely not suitable for this role (but this does not affect his abilities as an actor).
The number three problem is the script!! In the third film, we saw a normal script, even though the film turned into an attraction. Here is a completely confusing plot, the writers themselves apparently did not understand what they wrote.
Terminator: Genesis is a film with many plot holes, good special effects and terrible characters. I don’t know what is better, wait for the sequel, which will reveal the plot holes, or forget this film as a terrible dream and wish him a complete failure at the world box office.

PS. The only thing worth going to this movie for is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Even though he plays a soulless machine, he is the only living character.
Forget about James Cameron’s Terminator and get ready to see another attempt by Hollywood to remake the good old story in a new way. And make a little money on it (and how else?). But don't jump to conclusions. The film, although it does not reach the level of a dilogy about the war between people and machines, is still able to leave an impression more or less pleasant. It is enough just to relax a little, without expecting something deep, with philosophical overtones, and without asking yourself unnecessary questions.
I will not hide, at first I was intrigued by the development of the story, the incarnation of the beloved characters with new actors, so the first hour of the film looked with genuine interest, in one breath. Everything seemed organic, and references to previous films fascinated, gave the opportunity to feel the sweet taste of nostalgia. But suddenly, when the climax is in full swing and the denouement is about to come, as if by some click everything stops working: the taste of drama disappears, the action no longer takes by the soul, does not make you cringe in a chair, looks like a long-tired attraction, and despair in the eyes of Sarah and Kyle does not cause sympathy, because it becomes a transparent ending, and further actions are easily foreseen. Thought will not soar up and will not allow reflection on the essence of what is happening to develop. Alas, but it seems that the new story about the confrontation between people and machines remained within the framework of entertainment cinema, with endless possibilities for continuation.
It may be good (unless it sinks into a deep hole of nonsense). Seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his best roles is incredibly pleasant. He is a highlight, an undoubted plus; easily eclipses his colleagues, Emilia Clarke and Jaya Courtney (who, by the way, also did not disappoint, kept on a level) and brings a considerable amount of humor to the narrative. It was the old Schwarzenegger and the melody deeply sunk in the soul that made him freeze for a while in front of the big screen and savor what is happening.
In general, the film “Terminator: Genesis”, which has not become a revelation, but also did not fall into the mud, is quite suitable for the title of a summer blockbuster. Strong 7 out of 10 with no emotional flashes.
