Lou Diamond spent his childhood in many states of America until the family finally settled in Texas. There, Lou Diamond entered the university at the faculty of theater drama.
From 1983 to 1986, Lou Diamond worked at the university as an instructor and assistant director at the local theater. He was soon cast in low-budget films. At the first - "Trespasses" - he met his future wife Julie Cipher, who worked as an assistant director on television. Julie set him up with the right people, and as a result, Lou Diamond participated in several TV series – Dallas, Miami Police and others.
In 1987, Lou Diamond finally got lucky, he played in the film “La Bamba” about rock and roll star Richie Valence. He first auditioned for the role of Richie's half-brother, but the producers were so inspired to see Lou that they turned down five hundred other applicants for the lead role.
After such success in Hollywood, it was decided that Lou Diamond was already popular enough to play with such stars as Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez in the Young Gunners. Befriended on this film, Kiefer and Lou Diamond remained great friends after filming. Lou Diamond likes to make friends. Sometimes he acts like a crazy fan. One day he changed into a telephone operator’s uniform, only to sneak into the hotel room where Robert De Niro lived and ask for his autograph. Lou got an autograph and is proud to call his idol Bobby.
His romantic marriage with Julia fell apart long ago, and in 1994, Lou Diamond had already met his new wife, Kelly Preston (not to be confused with John Travolta’s wife, the actress, this model).
