Dean Devlin, a producer and screenwriter, began his career as an actor in the Broadway production of There Must Be A Pony Somewhere. He can be seen in many films and television projects, ranging from such a giant as Los Angeles Law to the quickly deceased Hard Copy. On the set of Luna 44, Devlin met Roland Emmerich, and he was so inspired by the acting and writing abilities of Dean that he made him an offer that Dean could not refuse. Devlin wrote the screenplay for Universal Soldier and Independence Day, and produced these films.
