John Edgar Bernard Larrockett Jr. was born in 1947 in New Orleans. As a child he was fond of music and played the clarinet and saxophone. John's film debut took place in 1966. He played a minor role in the movie "Follow Me, Boys!"
In 1974, Laroquette voiced the narrator in the horror film Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

In 1974, Laroquette voiced the narrator in the horror film Texas Chainsaw Massacre. John became famous after the television series “Night Court”, in which he played a rude and sexually obsessed lawyer Dan Fielding. This series ran from 1984 to 1992 on NBC.
This role brought John Larockett four Emmy Awards, received in the nomination “Best Supporting Actor in Comedy Series”. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1988.
