After graduating in 1957, GITIS entered the troupe of the Rostov-on-Don Theater, signing a contract with it for a period of three years. However, when he arrived, he realized that there were no conditions for work and life there. After working for 2 years, Ernest first moved to Ryazan, where he plays on the stages of theaters. Unfortunately, the conditions in the Ryazan Theatre were not much different from the Rostov Theatre, so after working only one season, Romanov leaves for Tallinn.
It was here, in Tallinn Russian Drama Theatre, that a fateful meeting took place with actress Leyli Kirakosyan, who soon became his wife. In 1969, a young acting married couple was invited to the Leningrad Theater of the Lenin Komsomol, and from that moment their entire future life was completely connected with this city.
1969-1971 – works in the theater of the Leningrad Soviet, in the theater named after A.S. Pushkin, and in 1974 Roman became an actor of the film studio “Lenfilm”, where he starred in supporting roles.
Debut in the cinema took place in 1957 as an officer in the film “Duel”. However, the actor’s filmmaking really began only in the 70s, when such directors as Semyon Aranovich, Vladimir Bortko, Gleb Panfilov, Ilya Averbakh began to invite him.
