Craig Ferguson was born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 17, 1962. The boy was not yet a year old when his family decided to change their place of residence and moved to a small town called Cumbernault, located nearby.
Craig attended primary school in Muirfield and middle school in Cumbernoult itself. After graduation, he left school and at the age of 16 began to study electrical engineering at a local factory owned by a large American company.
Craig’s uncle lived in the city of Long Island, USA, so the young man first visited America as a teenager. In 1983, he moved to New York and took a job as a construction worker. After a little work in this field, he decided to change his profession and became a bouncer in one of the nightclubs.
In the early 80s of the last century, he began performing on stage, first playing drums in one of the local rock bands, and then, around 1985, Craig created the image of a folk musician who is constantly under the influence of drugs. This image instantly gained popularity, and the actor began to be invited to television in 1990.
He was offered roles in comedy projects. From 1996 to 2003, he appeared on the television series The Drew Carey Show. Then he wrote his first script, starred in three films, one of which he wrote the script himself.
Later, films with his participation appeared on the screens: “Hero of the Colored City”, “Big Haircut”, “Born a Romantic”,
Undead “I’ll be there” and other popular movies.
In parallel with his main career, he wrote books, published the autobiography American on Purpose and the novel Better the Bridge and the River.
He was only granted American citizenship in 2008. Craig Ferguson currently hosts a talk show on CBS Broadcasting.
