English actor Rex Carey Harrison had a reputation as one of the sexiest people of his time and fully justified this title; he was considered a comic actor, but he also managed to play dramatic roles.
Harrison was born in 1908, his homeland was Lancashire (Great Britain). Harrison was educated at Liverpool College, in the same city, in 1924, he made his debut on the stage. But Rex's acting career was interrupted by the beginning of the war, during which he was drafted into the Royal Air Force, from where after the end of hostilities he was demobilized as a lieutenant.
Returning home, Harrison returned to the stage, and brought him fame (and helped get into the cinema) his work in the production of Terence Rettigen’s “French Without Tears”. It was a time when critics, and audiences too, for the first time noted the extraordinary appearance of the actor.
His most notable roles on stage were in productions of Aren't We All? (Haymarket Theatre), The Admirable Crichton (Brooks Atkinson Theatre), My Fair Lady. He has been awarded Tony statuettes three times - for his portrayal of Henry VIII in Anne of the Thousand Days, for his role as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady and for his role as Shotover in Bernard Shaw's Heartbreak House.
As an example of his work, the films The Great Game (1930), The Citadel (1938), The Night Train to Munich (1940), Major Barbara (1941), The Merry Ghost (1945) can be called.
Anna and the King of Siam (1946), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) and The Foxes of Harrow (1947). And after the release of the film based on the musical "My Fair Lady", Harrison was awarded an Oscar as "Best Actor". It is worth noting his participation in the film “Doctor Doolittle” (1967).
Rex Harrison has been married six times. His first wife was Collette Thomas, followed by a German.
