Natalie Wood was born on July 30, 1938 in San Francisco. She owes her Slavic name to the fact that she grew up in a family of Russian immigrants. Since childhood, the future actress showed a tendency to theatricalization, and she played her first role at the age of 4 in the film Happy Earth (1943). In those difficult times, the girl became the breadwinner of the family, as she earned $ 1,000 a week. As a child, she played in such films: Miracle on 34th Street (1947), Star (1952), and for participation in the film Rebel Without a Perfect (1955) she was nominated for an Oscar.
Natasha’s finest hour came when she played the role of Mary in West Side Story (1961), which thundered around the world, and the actress began to be called the second Elizabeth Taylor.
