A native of Petrograd (his hometown received the name of Lenin a little later), Soviet theater and film artist, People's Artist of the RSFSR Nikolai Fedorovich Badyev was born on December 25, 1922. After the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, Badyev applied for voluntary dispatch to the front, and at the end of June he was sent to the front line. He served in the 128th Infantry Division, was a scout, and later a platoon commander.
