In the drama club at the children's hospital he was brought by his father, who served as an accountant there. In his youth, he himself went to such a circle and believed that it was useful for his son to join amateur artistic activity. Although little Vitya did not show much enthusiasm, but over time Khokhryakov Jr. became so fond of the theater that he realized that this was the main business of his life. He also participated in amateur activities at school. There he played Balzaminov in the play “A Holiday Sleep Before Dinner” and Baron in Gorky’s “At the Bottom”.
Later, Khokhryakov took part in productions of the Grey Blouse Theater created at the House of National Education. When he was 15 years old, he became the head of the school drama club.
The young man was drawn to the theater and, in order to be able to attend performances, he got a job in the Bashkir drama theater. First he was a student of a prop, then a stage worker. And then he was allowed to participate in crowds.
In 1929, Victor entered the Leningrad College of Performing Art, in 1933 he graduated from it and was immediately admitted to the Kharkov Theater of Russian Drama, where he went after his teacher - Nikolai Petrov. After working for seven years, he moved to the Central Transport Theater in Moscow.
During the Great Patriotic War, Viktor Khokhryakov and his colleagues traveled to the Far Eastern Military District and performed for fighters. In the postwar period, his film career began. The actor played surgeon Petrov in the film “In the Name of Life”, the secretary of the regional committee Protsenko in the legendary film “Young Guard”, Professor Vershinin in the film “The Young Guard”.

Already accomplished, experienced actor in 1953, Khokhryakov came to the Maly Theatre. He was by that time Honored Artist of the RSFSR and laureate of Stalin Prizes. There he served until the end of his life, received the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR, played many excellent roles.
On September 20, 1986, Viktor Khokhryakov passed away. He is buried in Moscow, at the Vagankovo cemetery.
