Since 1918 – actor of theaters of Arkhangelsk, Novorossiysk, Irkutsk, Tula, Krasnoyarsk, Sverdlovsk and other cities. In 1937-1962 he was an actor of the Central Theatre of the Red Army (later - CATSA).
In the cinema since 1950 (the first role - Ragulin in the film "Golden Star Cavalier"). He participated in the voiceover of cartoons.
Ratomsky is an actor of acutely characteristic talent, he is characterized by warm humor, simplicity, richness of intonation colors.
Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1949 – for theatrical work, 1952 – for participation in the film “Cavalier of the Golden Star”). People's Artist of the RSFSR (1951).
