Red Hot Chili Peppers, an American funk rock quartet, was formed in 1983 in Los Angeles. The band includes vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Michael Balzari, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. The musical style of the collective is a mixture of funk with other genres, including jazz, fusion, punk rock and psychedelic rock.
