The ten-minute cartoon “Apple Pie” in 1991 was filmed on “Soyuzmultfilm”. The basis of the film is a fairy tale by British Joan Aiken. This is an unusual cartoon in which the active character is an apple pie.
The English family lives in order. The cat walks around the house, the hostess rides a bicycle, and the owner reads a fresh newspaper. He likes pies a lot. While he finishes the finished cake, the hostess mixes the dough for a new one, puts a whole basket of ripe apples in it. A window opened, and a piece came off the autumn sky, flew to the rolled dough. The hostess did not notice this, and a piece of the sky appeared in the finished cake. The cake flies off the plate, the hostess catches it all over the house. She caught the cake at the last minute. The hostess sends an air kiss to her husband, deciding to go with a cake on a trip. But the owner does not let his wife’s hand out, and they fly out into the open window together, holding on to the cake.
In flight
The cake becomes huge and the couple is already sitting on it. The owner waves his hand to a cat sitting on a tree. The cat does not want to be alone and sits on the cake. The whole family is gathered, their house is removed, from above it seems smaller and smaller. There is only a snowy sky around the family. A duck dives in the clouds. It behaves like on a pond - plunges and emerges from the cloud. So she lands first on the head of the owner, and then meets the cat.
In the cockpit, a pilot solves a crossword puzzle. He sees the passengers on the cake, waves their hand and hangs upside down from his cabin to see them better. For joy, he rotates on the racks of the plane. The pilot gives the owner a fresh newspaper, with pleasure stretching on the cake. In the middle of the clouds is a haystack with flowers outside, around it goes a goat. A flower from the stack falls into the hands of the hostess. The goat is already on the cake and chewing the owner's newspaper.
Fantasy
In the distance, an elephant appears on the tower, with his trunk he pushes the clouds. The elephant is afraid to jump off the tower, but still he tries to stand on the cake. The elephant is very heavy, and the inhabitants of the cake almost fly off it. Finally, everyone fits in, but under the weight of an elephant, a piece of sky slips out of the cake. The cake is rushing into the ocean. The pilot inflates the lifeline, and in the ocean the hostess sees a saving island. But the island does not need visitors, there is a sign that reads: "Parking of apple pies is prohibited." People on the island are hostile. The hostess points to other islets, but there the sign of the apple pie is crossed out cross-cross. The cake falls directly onto the water. It is also good: the hostess splashes in the water, the duck swims, the pilot swings on the trunk of an elephant. In the middle of the cake grows an apple tree, everyone happily eats apples. There's a kettle, there's a new pie, there's an apple island. . . close

On a frozen and forbidding shoreline of northern Sakhalin Island, to the north of Japan, live the Nyvkh people, whose austere, heroic struggle for survival depends solely on their ability to hunt the seal and to fish. This blunt glimpse into their quarters, animistic rituals, and daily (and nightly) lives has all the appearance of a well-shot documentary but is in fact a scripted film with convincing special effects, based on a novella of the same title by the gifted and controversial Soviet Kirghiz writer, Chingiz Aitmatov. "Dog running at the edge of the sea" is what the Nyvkhs call the forbidding place they have domesticated as their home, husbanding and speaking of it by means of myths and "poetry of the concrete" with which they commemorate their savage lives. close

An angelic-looking but selfish and ruthless young man wanders from crime to crime without the slightest remorse. In the Russian film "Satan," the devil is a delicately handsome young man whose murderous opportunism is too easy to understand. While the film registers shock at its protagonist's absolute amorality, it also presents him as part of a bitterly divided and pessimistic culture. The world of "Satan" is one in which nothing really works, and therefore anything goes. close
