The film “Brezhnev” is a story about the last moments of L. I. Brezhnev; a television series that tells about the life of the great leader of the USSR. It was released in 2005. Director S. Snezhkin has done a lot of work to restore the events of the last month of Leonid Brezhnev’s life.
The plot of the biography film
The viewer sees the last months of the Secretary General’s life. Brezhnev lives the last moments as usual: hunting, communication with subordinates, lunches and breakfast with his beloved wife, watching newsreels. But his thoughts are getting worse. The leader recalls the old days, remembers how he climbed his career ladder, how he framed Khrushchev. Before his eyes pops up all life, all the events that ruled the fate of the then young Leonid Brezhnev. He asks himself how right he was and whether he made the right choice.
The main roles of the historical drama were filmed: S. Shakurov, S. Garmash, S. Kryuchkova, V. Lanova, A. Krasko, V. Zolotukhin, V. Menshov, M. Shukshina. The film consists of 4 episodes of 52 minutes each. The author wanted to show the viewer how complicated and sad the fate of the world-famous Soviet leader is. He regretted many things and even regretted something, digging into the depths of his conscience and heart, looking for answers to questions that constantly arose in his head. The picture, striking to the depths of the soul and making the viewer think about his own existence.
Reviews by critics
The drama Brezhnev, released in 2005, caused mixed reviews from critics. The picture was answered by those who knew Brezhnev alive. His grandson Andrey said that the film is weak and full of fiction. That his grandfather's disease did not progress as much, and accordingly, he did not use so much drugs as shown in the picture. Importantly, the exterior details do not match his inner feeling.
Grigory Romanov, a member of the Politburo, says that Brezhnev's helplessness in the series is far from reality, that in fact he was not such a sufferer. Although in reality Leonid Ilyich miraculously escaped death during the war, many facts of history that are used in the plot are far from the real state of affairs.
The film “Brezhnev”, despite many distorted moments, is still relevant for today’s youth. He gives even the slightest idea of the times he depicts, because many young people do not even know how the population lived then – both peaceful ordinary people and leaders who stood at the origins of communism. close
