The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. Rainbow Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin is the story of seven teenagers who met in a juvenile colony.
The difficult times of devastation and poverty experienced by Japan after the end of the American occupation in 1955 forced the government to take harsh measures. To save tens of thousands of teenagers engaged in banditry and vagrancy, colonies were established in the country, where young criminals intended to discourage the desire to break the laws in severe conditions of isolation from society.
It is in such a colony that the heroes of the anime “Rainbow: Seven from the sixth chamber”, teenagers 16-17 years old, bearing the nicknames Joe, Mario, Golyak, Soldier, Turtle and Cabbage, turn out to be.
