British TV series "Spooks" (also called "Ghosts")/Spooks, 2002 - 2011, 10 seasons, 86 episodes, in such places a very interesting spy thriller with a lot of politics, so not everyone will be interested, but I was interested. Some of it sounds like a prediction, although you don’t really expect it from this kind of movie, it looks like it’s happening these days. Honestly, I watched the last seasons with a purely research purpose, I wanted to see what they would think of.
The series is about the work of the department of one of the British intelligence services MI-5, which is designed to protect Britain from hidden threats - terrorism, espionage, the spread of new types of weapons, etc., closely related in its work with other intelligence agencies, including the CIA, MI-6, sometimes situationally even with the FSB, cooperation, however, often turns into a hidden, if not open conflict. In the competition, Russian special services and the CIA often left the British with a nose. I must say, employees of the special services are not shown as angels who come to the aid always and everyone, a lot of their work and punctures, often stupid and dishonest actions, some characters are quite interesting, there is nowhere to put a stigma on some politicians, this seemed to me a very remarkable film, but there are many things in it that just draws to laugh. First of all, it is, of course, the image of the Russians, whom they clearly fear and put on a par with the Chinese as the most dangerous possible opponents, but at the same time their image often rolls into the most ordinary cranberries, although they constantly celebrate their incredible technological achievements. I assume that the image of Russians does not cut the eyes of their local viewer, but it would be better if they did not force the poor actors to speak in Russian, it is impossible to listen to this, and often simply incomprehensible. The only place where they somehow retreated from this scheme is the family of a certain Russian minister named Gavrik (former KGB-shnik, of course), he and his wife (English, and in the end it turned out that a double spy) and his son (FSB officer) speak English for some reason, so let the others talk. If at first the plots were still quite acceptable, then at the end they became at times quite delusional, with more and more interspersed melodramatic lines, whipping up hysteria, with which they obviously wanted to hint to the audience that spies are also people and nothing human is alien to them, but the main principle of their work on the basis of "everyone lies to everyone" eventually decomposed many of them and destroyed their lives. In general, the hard work of spies, having watched such a film, many may change their minds to apply for such a service.
I must give credit, the actors in the film starred good, which is good for this series.
