Richard Armitage – British actor of theater and film – this is Sheriff Guy Gisborne in “Robin Hood”, Thorin in “The Hobbit”, assassin John Potter in “Breakback”.
Richard Armitage was born in England in 1971. He studied at Lechestershire School and at this time was seriously fond of music, played three musical instruments - cello, flute and guitar. Later in college, he still studied dance and attended acting classes. He worked in musical theater, participating in various performances, but soon realized that this was not his path.
As Richard Armitage later recounted, the musicals seemed too pretentious and theatrical, and he wanted something more real and truthful. Therefore, Richard entered the acting faculty of the London Academy of Music and Drama. After graduating from the Academy, he was accepted into the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he played in classics. At the same time, he began acting in television series in episodic roles. His first major role was in the television film Sparkhouse, and the first main one was in the adaptation of the historical novel North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. Armitage then played Claude Monet in The Impressionists, a doctor in the London Ambulance series, and Guy Gisborne in Robin Hood. And soon became a member of the acting group in the television series “Ghosts”. There he played Lucas, a man with a difficult fate (he spent two years in prison) and a difficult character. To play it, according to Armitage, was very interesting.
In 2011, Richard Armitage was invited to Hollywood, where he immediately landed the role of a Nazi spy in the blockbuster First Avenger.
At the end of 2012, the next adaptation of Tolkien is released on the screens. In The Hobbit, Armitage plays the Dwarf King Thorin of the Oak Shield. Given the great interest of viewers around the world to the film adaptations of Tolkien's novels, critics predict the film's success, and Armitage - another portion of fame. /
