I’ve noticed lately that it’s getting harder for me to choose a movie to watch, probably too much of it. I often turn to old movies. So this time I watched an old Italian comedy, considered a masterpiece of neorealism along with the films of Vittorio De Sica, this is the film by Mario Camerini “Dreams on the Roads” / Molti sogni per le strade, 1948. As was often the case in the post-war years, the family of Paolo Bertoni (Massimo Girotti) is experiencing serious difficulties due to the fact that for two years Paolo can not find a job, his wife Linda (Anna Magnani) sits at home with his young son, and he is interrupted by casual earnings. After another unsuccessful attempt to find a job, Paolo agrees to an offer from an employee of the garage where his army friend works, to steal and sell a luxury car of one billionaire. He will try to leave with him alone, but out of spite his wife intervened, seeing in the desire to leave an attempt of treason, so in the end they went on a trip four - Paolo with an accomplice and Linda with his son. Along the way, as is customary in Italian comedies, we will see a lot of all sorts of twists and turns, in the end everything will end quite utopian, but happy, all the same it is a comedy. I cannot say that the comedy seemed to me masterpiece, but not bad, the actors are good, the situations are quite comedic sometimes with an element of absurdity, everything is depicted very grotesquely, so fans of Italian comedies can watch.
