In the plot, an archaeology teacher goes in search of a certain ark, and, of course, there are many dangers on the way, and it would seem that the film is quite ordinary, but there are many butts. The first is probably the time of the movie. Very good was the idea of the director to transfer the film to the forties of the last century, and not in the years of filming, that is, the eighties. But it was probably necessary. Well, who would stop a brave archaeological teacher from digging up all sorts of chests in the eighties, and then there are new opponents, the same Hitler who also needs this ark. At once, crowds of opponents with machine guns run, and then the brave Indiana with a whip and a gun shoots everything. It looks a little funny, but still... To be honest, the story left me with a double impression. It seems that everything is fine, well, he runs through these sands (Arab cities, buried in the sand cities) and let the distance run, but the ending just kills him. So screw up a great movie, it has to be. Why then to the adventure film woven elements of fiction. I honestly don't understand. The film is almost never bland. There are always interesting moments. At the beginning of the film, the same rolling ball, arrows flying from everywhere, the Indians. Then, in the middle of the movie, the Germans chase Indiana and his companion, at the end of the movie. In general, the film turned out quite cheerful, even despite the time period, it is certainly the merit of the writers, and first of all, Lucas and Spielberg.
In general, if not for this tandem, then probably nothing would have happened at all. But who could write such a great script, albeit with a terrible ending, who else could come up with such a magnificent character Indiana Jones, who played the role of the author.
Harrison Ford. He is a very good actor, and this is probably one of his best roles. Although I think if it wasn’t for the role of Han Solo in the star saga, he wouldn’t be here, but that’s not what we’re talking about. Ford played very well. All the funny moments of this film are connected with him, and his magnificent grin, expressing either laughter or fear, well, who else could do that, if only the same, Cary Grant. In general, the role of Indiana is better than an actor and can not be imagined, he fits perfectly, and his appearance is so slightly gangster, the film fits perfectly. You can see the guy from the big road. If we talk about roles in the film in general, the female role is not bad. And other minor roles too, especially Wolf Kahler I really liked in this film.
I wouldn’t say that the film is tense, but what is in it, although it does not matter. When at least some tension appears, then a magnificent soundtrack necessarily comes to the fore, and everything is bold at once. No, just do not think that it is in the negative, but just the opposite, it animates the film.
Speaking of liveliness. Despite the excellent script, the film turned out quite monotonous. Even despite all the plot evasions, innovations, Indiana, in fact, does everything the same, running around the city, fighting the Germans, running on the sands, fighting the Germans, climbing in the underground city, fighting the Germans and so on. In general, the dialogues in the film are very rare, I think they could be made richer.
In general, if you take films of this genre, then in the first place I will have the film North by Northwest, but Indiana Jones: In Search of the Lost Ark, it will take a solid second position.
